The rally was cancelled by BJP itself to avoid crossing election expense limits, rest all is drama. They are not doing a roadshow, it is just that he will go from airport to BJP office and it is obvious that crowd will be expected. He will stay within his car.

Polling trends so far suggest turnout in these elections may exceed the historical high of 1984 .

The letter from Arun Jaitley to EC clear states that Namo will go to the EC office and then to airport in his usual motorcade.

So he will land in BHU helipad and then go to EC office and then to airport in his motorcade.

As far as i know, motorcade and roadshow are 2 very different things. He uses his motorcade all the time to arrive all the 1000 rallies he has done. So i see no risk here.

^Guys too much rona-dhona.

1. Amethi., at most few dozen booths were captured. Let us say #pappu wins by 50k votes., what will it prove? Last time #pappu won by some 2-3L votes and now *with* booth capturing #pappu "won" by 50k!!! What a convincing victory!!! And 5 years later if Amethi is still undeveloped who gets the blame?

And AoA if #pappu loses? What was the booth capturing for? The fact that RaGa had to resort to it proves that he is #pappu.

2. BJP is building a case against ECI.

Putting ECI under as much pressure directly or indirectly helps. ECI should be under constant pressure from BJP instead of the other way round. Right now, ECI's reputation is in tatters.

Was not able to log into BRF much today or read news except for occasional reading of headlines/posts....so sorry to be asking a quick recap of May 7th.

1) Was May 7th very good, good, average, or bad for BJP?
2) Is BJP still on track to go past 200+, and NDA past 272+ ?

BTW, events are unfolding every hour. Furiously fast paced last 10 days of the election. Each hour seems to generate tonnes of material for discussion/CTs.

I would say it was good. NDA should be above 270 after today. Some 41 more seats to go. I think on the low end NDA will hit 290.

Thanks a bunch guys, as Modi would say it "aap ke mooh mein ghee shakar".

Meanwhile a very good article by Jaggi on the election duration and its consequences: http://www.firstpost.com/politics/how-e ... 11891.html

It is an exhausting affair, I would say the elections should be wrapped in 1 week at the maximum, or keeping with Indic traditions 9 days/nights.

#Pappu did a PeeChaddi!!!

http://indianexpress.com/article/india/ ... in-amethi/
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was heckled and questioned by voters as he went from booth to booth in his family pocketborough of Amethi on Wednesday. Both party workers and residents said this was the first time that Rahul was visiting the booths on polling day.

At Chilauli Singhpur booth, Ambika Saran Singh, 63, told him, “Chalo dus saal baad dekhne ko to mila (we got to see you after 10 years).” When Rahul said, “Main yahan aya to hun (I have come here),” Singh replied, “Aaj to aap yahan apne swarth ke liye aye hain (you have come here today for your own benefit).”

After Rahul left, Singh said, “I am a farmer and have been a Congress workers for the last 30 years… but the Congress is good at ignoring its old workers.”

At Phoola Gaon booth, Parvesh Shukla, a youth, shouted at Rahul, “Bhaiya… sadak pe jhatka laga ki nahi (did you feel the potholes on the road).” Rahul told the youth to go and join the BJP. Some other youths waiting outside then shouted, “Har Har Modi”, forcing Rahul to leave the booth.

Nar Singh Bahadur Singh, a first time voter, said, “I voted for the Congress, but only because my family told me to.”

In the Muslim-dominated areas, however, voters assured Rahul of their support. “Bhaiya aap humari taraf se nishchint rahiya. Hum sab apke saath hain (be assured that all of us are with you),” said Abdul Madeen at a polling booth in Rustemau, a Muslim-dominated village.

Meanwhile, Rahul, who was accompanied by his aide Kanishka Singh and other staff, objected to a drawing of a lotus on the blackboard at Phoola Gaon booth.

Speaking to mediapersons later, Rahul said, “They do not have anger only for my family but for the entire nation.” Asked about the heckling, he said, “They are people of another party.”

I've scaled back on initial assumptions given disenfranchisement of voters in MH, WB, UP & BH. I think Muraliraviji also bases his assumptions on that too. I seriously doubt NDA will go over 300, but should be between 280-290.

I believe NDA is between 280-300 after Phase 8. I predict another 20 or more seats in Phase 9 for a total of 300-320. This is with pretty conservative assumptions for states like WB, OR, KA, and TN. The unpredictable effects of the NaMo wave in these states could take the tally significantly higher.

00:46 EC reschedules repoll in 2 Tamil Nadu polling stations to May 10:

Election Commission tonight said the repoll in one polling station each in Salem and Namakkal constituencies, a move flayed by ruling AIADMK, will be held on May 10 and not on May 8 as originally announced following candidates' demand for 48 hours notice before polling.

"The Election Commission has stated that representations from candidates have been received seeking at least 48 hours notice before re-poll is held. The Commission has accepted the request and has decided to defer the re-poll and it will now be held on 10th May," Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar said in a release.

The repoll, announced yesterday, had been ordered in Salem (north) and Tiruchengode booths following technical error in EVMs with EC announcing that new machines will be used for re-polling.

AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had slammed the EC decision, terming it as "against the canons of propriety of the election process" as no protest or complaint was registered by any political party or anyone else in respect of both these polling stations.

"When this is so, the belated and inexplicable move of the EC to order a repoll abruptly with less than 48 hours notice does not appear warranted," she said in a letter to Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath earlier in the day.
so why the repoll ???

Yes, speaking about LJ, it was ABV, AJ etc who increased juvenile age from 16 years to 18 years by passing Juvenile Justice Act in year 2001 , so that LJ in India rises. One of my volunteers had said that he would distribute 1000s of pamphlets in Amritsar informing voters about how JJA as passed AJ in year 2001 trippled serious sexual violence caseson women, and also increased LJ.

Why AJ raised age of "juvenile"? Or rather who paid him and how much? All that is OT. But guess who wants LJ in India to increase
