The knives are already out for Surrender Singh.Rahul-G's orchestrated absence at the fare-you-well dinner was a deliberate signal to the faithful as whom to blame if there is a catastrophic debacle, worst ever results for the GOP. And the truth must be said that he is principally responsible for the debacle. He could've easily resigned years ago if he was not happy with the power-sharing gameplan of the UPA,between Party Pres. and PMO. He turned a blind eye to the crony-corruption that was awash in his ministry ,preferring to strut on the world stage with his bum-chums of the West ,in the hope of getting a Scandinavian award (p*ss with Pak,"P*ss in our time") and cement his legacy for the history books. He scarcely cared about what was happening to India, the plunging rupee, soaring prices-he forgot his "onions",collapse in industrial growth, national growth, rising unemployment, higher fuel and LPG prices and the boiling mood of the nation, waiting to deliver a massive kick in the backside of the Congress and its UPA looters and scooters, the latter day "Rajas"! Had he stepped down a year ago, vaulted into Rashtrapathi Bhavan as pres. and installed the Clown Prince as PM,giving him and his coterie a chance for the nation to get familiar with them in the saddle, with Mama pulling the strings from behind the curtain, the expected debacle would've been less severe.Perhaps with the "corruption king" out of the way,Rahul-G's unstained kurta might've brought home the bacon, and some allies before the hustings.

The days are long past when the mere sight of Indira Gandhi on the road electioneering in an open car would bring in the thousands wanting "darshan" and assure victory. Sonia is no Indira, though she has worked very hard to keep the party united under the umbrella of the dynasty.Unfortunately,Sonia's crore committee believed their own propaganda and couldn't see the relentless Modi wave growing nearer and nearer.By denigrating him and abusing him in every manner possible, they created a monster-for the Congress! Every attack brought him more votes and Mani Aiyer's "chai-wallah" jibe lost the Congress millions of voters all across the country.Mr.Modi must reward Mani A for his notable part in the NDA's victory and nominate him to the Rajya Sabha, where he can continue to lose votes for the Congress, entertain the nation, after all,"every court must have its clown"!

As for the likes of JJ and co. who are now running after the Modi bandwagon...after it passed them by ,and when they refused to join it when invited,"victory has many fathers (and mothers),defeat is an orphan".As a BJP wit perfectly put it,"after the exit polls, everyone now wants to join the NDA!" One sincerely hopes that Mr.Modi will sift the wheat from the chaff and reject rank opportunists who hands are stained with corruption ,controversy and the courts, and reject their overtures.During the campaign he said that he would prefer to lose the election rather than campaign on communal grounds. The same spirit would be very welcome when choosing his "after-results" supporters, especially those who ridiculed him during the campaign.

Muraliravi,Nageshks garus and other gurus,

Any analysis in the recent exit polls on the second preference of voters ?

Like

For those who voted sAAP..
1)For how many was BJP/NDA second preference.
2)For how many was Congi/UPA second preference.

Similar exercise for Commies(in Kerala and WB),Didi,Behenji,Amma,Patnaik babu,TRS etc would give invaluable insights in deciding which parties to target and which to be left alone(or encouraged) in the coming Assembly polls .

Most probably BJP is already doing such internal polls ... if so what are the conclusions ?

Those who have 5forty3 guy's ear should ask for such a report before he winds up this poll's analysis.

Leaving aside who becomes part of the NDA coalition, I will be very disappointed with ModiJi if he embarks on the following:

1. Excessive show of love for TSP to prove his "secular" credentials. I hope he does not do a yatra to TSP like Advani and praise a puke like Jinnah.

2. Kissing up to the US for the humiliation the piled on him. Actually, it is not him they humiliated but Hindus en masse because after all, he was democratically elected thrice and they treated that with disdain. US will never dare do that to an Israeli politician whoever loathsome he might be like say Areil Sharon. And when you consider a terrrosit like MushRat was feted on the white house lawn, it tells you the utter lack of respect US has for India.

All of ModiJi focus on development and economics is great, but at the end of the day, one of India's over-riding issues is lack of any sense of nationalism, which especially plummeted under MMS, the low point being his surrender to TSP on 26/11 and yet getting re-elected. So ModiJi's focus ought not to be just development and economics, but nationalism, and if its Hindu nationalism, so be it. What, if "secular" US can be a rabid white Christian nationalist country, India can't be a benign, pluralist, Hindu nationalist country? Give me a break.

Modi has unique advantage that he doesn't have to visit US or UK to carry the white-man burden.

Culling of many laws are the need of the hour. When laws are not conducive to sec-libs, you'll have "amnesty" migrations.

Well saar, in that meet, milindc demo-ed the work he was doing right down to the booth level. The insights that emerge once you have voters mapped down to street address and basic demography was astounding only.

The clear cut strat to target youth demographic seemed like a no-brainer back then even, with the data opening up like that...

swamyG, narayan Rao garu, RamaY, nkumar, yours truly were the other guys at the meet apart from milindc, of course. :)

Doston, ek meet aur banta hai... in a new India. :)

Congratulations, milindc saar. Looks like your effort was started quite some time ago. May your venture be a huge success.

Wish I had also been in Hyderabad then.

NCP, INC not at all in picture - these two seats are marked with infighting of senas. So there is chance that one of these two might go to MNS (but I will give only 15%-20% probability to this event happening). Rest, no chance. In case of too much infighting, UPA wins by default as always. But this event is very improbable, given the modi wave.

You think Sanjeev Naik from NCP has no chance in Thane? He is the sitting MP and guardian minister of Navi Mumbai whatever that means. The guy has been busy drawing exotic infrastructure plans that go no where but has done a good job staying in the news. I agree on Kalyan-Dombivli. NCP has no chance here. But given high percentage of NI, Shiv Sena will likely win this one.

Among these leaders — who the signatories believe may hold the key to formation of a government at the Centre — are NCP chief Sharad Pawar, BSP chief Mayawati, AIADMK chief Jayalalitha, DMK chief Karunanidhi, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, BJD's Naveen Patnaik, TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, YSR Congress President Jaganmohan Reddy, H Deve Gowda of JD (S) and AAP's Arvind Kejriwal.

"Secularism is not just a catchword in election manifestos. It is the backbone of our democracy, which cannot be sacrificed in horse trading," said the appeal signed among others by Prof. Amiya Bagchi, documentary filmmaker Anand Patwardhan, vocalist Shubha Mudgal, artist Vivan Sundaram, Prof. C P Chandrasekhar, Fr Cedric Prakash, authors Githa Hariharan and Tabish Khair, Prof. Harbans Mukhia, Prof. Jayati Ghosh, Prof Prabhat Patnaik, film directors Kabir Khan, Kundan Shah and Mahesh Bhatt, Prof. Mridula Mukherjee, Prof. Rukmini Bhaya Nair, activist Shabnam Hashmi and Prof. Zoya Hasan.

Keep this list very handy for future reference and let the IT dept find out how much these secularists are collecting overseas as speaking fees, honorarium, etc.

no its not.

people, including me, wrote off dmk many months ago, for this election.

stalin's vigorous campaigning is netting them 5 seats min. they have a solid 20 to 25% voteshare in all constituency.

pretty soon, stalin will be running everything and he does not have the baggage of having to keep the family happy (kanimozhi, azhagiri, marans' ). he has a reputation (not undeserved) of being an able administrator and he does not have corruption tag. he will revive the party. dmk will be a force to reckon with in TN.

Stalin is a potential & possibly next CM in waiting for TN. He is quite serious about development of TN ... infrastructure, industry, transport systems etc ... far more than AMMA ... but he is weakened by his big dependency on 2nd & lower rung DMK leaders who are heavily corrupt. The cadres & leaders will work hard during polls, lead the party to victory ... but will want their big chunk of money once in power in their own respective fiefdoms. Police often comes under the control of DMK district secretaries, MLAs & MPs during such times. Common man has to suffer during such times and i am not sure if Stalin will curb such tendencies when his own father allowed such things to happen .... all for sake of getting votes. It is all about .... come to power .... swindle money through various projects .... grab lands at very very low prices from even the most hapless poor man ... and then get shot to near death in next assembly election poll. In comparison - AMMA rules the roost in ADMK ... she can kick anyone out ..even the most senior minister or party leader in a jiffy from entire party setup in one go and keeps party under a very very dictatorial tight leash. Downside is that ADMK cadres & leaders are silent even when something is visibly going wrong in administration due to fear of being shunted out by AMMA but Stalin is very open to cadres and fetes them well at appropriate times. A big negative aspect of DMK is their easiness to swing towards 'secular' groups at the drop of a hat. M groups are steadfastly behind DMK ... but their strong grip on M vote base becomes loosened when some of TN's M political parties tie up with ADMK. This is why DMK+INC is a great combination that rakes in majority of secular votes in TN ...but this time Stalin has put his foot down & said ... no ties with INC even though Grandfather & step-sister were very enthusiastic to have one. Need to wait and see ... if Stalin will also suck-up to M groups at the lowest possible way in which father used to do. Stalin has not allowed DMK to wither away inspite of Alagiri ... all will become apparent after the 'grandfather' ceases to exist. He is a reformed guy these days... better than his father .... not anti-Hindu like his father .... been very diplomatic in his talks & interviews ... he even encourages his political workers to do annadhanam at Temples when his father used to chide workers coming to party meetings wearing Vibhuti & Kumkum (even as M's were allowed to flaunt their head caps) to wipe out such things from their foreheads before entering the meetings. He accepts prasad brought from big famous temples of TN ... by his workers when meeting them. I have seen photographs of Stalin & his wife him falling at the feet of late Sathya Sai Baba at Puttaparthi to seek blessings on late Sathya Sai Baba's last birthday. This time ... prior to the elections... they openly stated that the DMK annual meeting at Trichy (spent nearly 100 crores to make it happen) would begin only at auspicious time of the day and not during Rahukalam or Yamagandam times.

One odd observation that i have noticed about him & felt confused is that .... he has never won his own seat in assembly elections by even a decent margin of votes. He mostly wins with a margin of between 2000 to 10000 votes from even his most strongest base in what is most often a straight forward 2-party election fight and that i felt was a big problem for such a big leader. His father has never ever lost an election and often wins by huge margins of minimum 30K+ votes whereas Stalin has lost elections in 1980s & even early 1990s against ordinary ADMK leaders from DMK's strong seats (where there are lots of M voters even).

I can imagine the complexity of the task. How accurate is your data? Did you cross check with PDF again? What if you get the raw data in SQL format with data structure and definition to analyse? If you get booth level data, you could perhaps do profiling as well?

No TFTA. Speaking with experience of meeting such people. I know many in and around my area, who would not even know that they are being $crewed. Let me tell you , the ground where we used to play cricket, boys of certain sect would rule, they took center pitch, beat up people. There were very few to support us when we stood up to them. Iam told after 1990, some people from evil Yindoo right wing groups had some "nice" interactions, things are better. I do not go now because I no longer find time.
Hindus rarely get togather , when they do , they have won superb victories , but usually they leave it to someone else. If someone else fails, they blame him, accept that it is all Karma.
This "someone else will do it for us" feeling, is still present in many Hindus

RSS needs to identify the hindu dominated (booths) areas where 45% only voted! There must be a reason! Probably some kind of disenchantment which needs to be addressed. A massive education in electoral discipline is required.
