From the Digital Library of India:

"The Plot in Indian Chronology" by Kota Venkatachalam garu.

http://jambudveep.wordpress.com/2011/02 ... atachalam/

I will post the conversion from TIFF to pdf tutorial in a couple of days.

Mind blowing is the only word to describe the book.Deals with the distortion of our history by Western Indologists.

As the tutorial thread is locked am posting here.Found better and easier ways of downloading entire books from DLI without going thru the circus that I wrote in the tutorial.

1.Vinay Shettys DLI book Download Tutorial : This is a simple and easy to understand tutorial.Worked for me perfectly.
http://www.esnips.com/doc/1ede73a8-f6fd ... I-DOWNLOAD

2.Ashok Shukla\’s ABS DLI Downloader: This is a small piece of good software which allows you to download entire TIFF books from DLI as PDF’s.Unfortunately did not work for me.
http://alokshukla.wordpress.com/2009/12 ... -of-india/

3.DLI Downloader from PR Labs :Again a good piece of software, more specifically for Sanskrit documents.Unfortunately did not work for me either.
http://www.dlidownloader.blogspot.com/

Try all three above, one of them is bound to work for you! Only follow my tutorial if none of the above works!

For starters a novel in particular:
Manohar Malgoankar " Bend in the River"

Deals with Partition in a very close way.

Please convert this if it works automatically. If you have to do it manually forget it.

The best movie taken about the times of Sri Krishnadevaraya in Telugu is Malleswari with NTR and Bhanumathi. Those who do not understand Telugu also can see and enjoy the manner in which the empire and its people are shown

The Sound of the Kiss, or The Story That Must Never Be Told
1st Edition. (November 15, 2002) | ISBN: 0231125968 0231125976 | 538 pages |

Composed in the mid-sixteenth century, The Sound of the Kiss, or The Story That Must Never Be Told, could be considered the first novel written in South Asia. Telugu, the language spoken in today's Andhra Pradesh region of southern India, has a classical literary tradition extending over a thousand years. Suranna's masterpiece comes from a period of intense creativity in Telugu, when great poets produced strikingly modern innovations. The novel explodes preconceived ideas about early South Indian literature: for example, that the characters lack interiority, that the language is formulaic, and that Telugu texts are mere translations of earlier Sanskrit works. Employing the poetic style known as campu, which mixes verse and prose, Pingali Suranna's work transcends our notions of traditional narrative. "I wanted to have the structure of a complex narrative no one had ever known," he said of his great novel, "with rich evocations of erotic love, and also descriptions of gods and temples that would be a joy to listen to." The Sound of the Kiss is both a gripping love story and a profound meditation on mind and language. Shulman and Rao include a thorough introduction that provides a broader understanding of, and appreciation for, the complexities and subtleties of this text.
