The 2010 Asiad could serve as a proper RCC for the foundation (laid during CWG) for mata ki jagran. Even though our medal tally may not exceed the last Asiad, it will go a long way in sustaining the momentum gained so far.

I hear from a paanwala source that desh may come up with the 'magic' final solution for ACL tear and knee injuries affecting footballers, rugby, basketball and volleyball players. Serious research in the final stages is underway in AFMC. Patent rights itself could run into many millions.

Whats on for today?

While changing for work, I was able to watch three events in which India was participating - women's heptathlon, women's archery and cycling.

I believe today's the only day they've set for archery. Hoping for a few medals here.

hopefully we will beat the total tally of around 45 medals won in doha.

kazakhstan has fallen off steeply from doha where they won 21 golds. taiwan has moved up. iran/thailand and HK are keeping up their performance.

why couldn't the enlightened souls at BCCI cobble together an "A" team to play at the Asian Games? Could hardly be the case of having poor bench strength. even pakistan sent some sort of a mens team

really stupid on BCCI's part

no, BCCI is a private club looking after the wellfare of Kirkit in India,
Ministry of Sports IOC etc. have no say, Kirkit was included onlee to lure in Indians to whatisitsname Asiad,
BCCI in its wisdom saw no profit for them and wisely advised about the benefits of Thumb Sucking.

Both the 400 m hurdle women heats have been won by Indians. The final is later today in the evening. Another possible gold. This was PT Usha's favourite event.

Somdev wins second gold for doubles with Sanam Singh. Gold count at 7 with 40 total keeps us at No. 8 just ahead of Thailand who also have 7 golds and 40 total but we have 12 silver vs their 7. Kazakhstan also has 7 golds but 47 total.

The CWG and Asiad being so close together is a problem and hopefully we plan to peak in September in 2014, treating the CWG as a training session in July. This time CWG was a big deal because it was in desh and we did great to peak for it but with the breakout we have seen in areas like athletics, gymnastics and even rowing and swimming, we should be in the Asiad top 4 beating Iran and Taiwan.

though Krishna poonia got bronze in women discus, there was no fall off from CWG - her throw was slightly better than CWG. the two chinese girls were however 3 mts ahead. her personal best would be 1m behind still.

BCCI didn't sent the A-team because Suresh Kalmadi and other honchos of IOC had threatened not to let the TI goto Asian Games if BCCI would dare to send A-team to this event. BCCI can send not only A team, but B and C and D teams if required. Heck they can send Mumbai - IX and still win some medals.

09:42: 68 for 5. Afghanistan on a roll here.

09:41: 68 for 4 now. Apparently even the second string Pakistan team is prone to batting collapses.
