Indian women move to the finals after a kabbadi equivalent of a penalty shootout. I could not make any sense of what the rules of the tie breaker were, looked pretty stupid though. Kudos to the Iranian women for their commitment. Would not be surprised to see them beating India in the future. Indian ladies played like a bunch of amateurs, giving away lot of points on technical fouls.

Indian men play Iran in the finals. Iran defeated TFTAs in the semifinals.

Oh dear. That must be heart-breaking. After leading the race for 700m, Luka seemed to have run our of tank and she dropped the pace. Right on hand, Margarita Matsko of Kazakhstan and Thanh Hang of Vietnam pounce to take the gold and the silver. TIntu finishes in third for a bronze.
Same with 200m women and men final , lost in last 50-100 meters

16:25 Ashwini Chidananda takes the gold in the women's 400m hurdles. Mauma finishes in fourth. Brilliant race from start to finish by Ashwini. Taking time to warm-up, she grew into the race. That last 100 made the difference as she eventually won it by some distance.
She didnt do the mistake that the others did.

Looks like we may actually cross the 10 golds that we got in Doha Asiad. We have a shot at 2 golds in kabbadi, 5 golds in boxing and probably a few more in track field. If we end up going past 50 medals and more than 10 golds that would count as good showing.

3rd gold today
17:28 My goodness. I have not seen a more stranger boxing bout but Vikas has taken the victory by five points to four. Hu did all the fighting while Vikas did all the running and the dodging. But the Indian does not care. Vikas Krishnan gets the gold in the men's 60 kg boxing bout.

Excellent! Hope for the best in all final bouts in which Indians are featuring !

We have already equaled our last time's tally of 10 golds and hope we can better that mark by many more!

Iran is doing very well in these games. 19 golds at 4th position. Most golds from wrestling, wushu and taekwondo. Very interesting.

Ideally we'll get about 15 golds this time, which would be a very good achievement.

A measure of the Chinese drive for excellence is the fact that they have twice as many golds as silver or bronze. Other countries have the opposite.

According to Toilet paper, India is @ the 8th position. 10+14+29=53 medals. Uzbekistan is @ 7th with 10+17+20=57. India can inch past Uzbekistan with couple of golds or few more silvers. Any more chances for us?

Personally, I am happy with the 10 golds - just a silly psychological pleasure :-) It goes without saying, kudos to all the great performances and hopefully India continues to improve.

In 2006, India finished with the tally of 10+17+26=53. A very modest improvement to 57 (so far). If we get 15 golds, like Suraj said, it would be awesome.

According to this Source...
India could expect another good haul before the end of the games, having already qualified to the finals of Men’s and Women’s kabaddi while there are four more final bouts in boxing including Vijender Singh in the men's 75 kg event.
So that are 6 events - guaranteed 6 medals. Taking our total to 63, 10 more than the previous one. Are we missing any other events?

Only 3 bouts are left for India in boxing.

Here is the list of events India is going to participate in.
link
Other than 2 kabaddi events and 3 boxing matches, we have a pretty good chance in 4X400 women, 4X400 men and men's triple jump. Preeja and Kavita will be participating in 5000 mts and may win a medal there. With some luck the 4X100 mt relay and men's shot put might also get some medals. There are some wrestling matches also but given our performance so far, there isn't much hope.

BTW Anup Kumar is currently place third in mens free style roller skating. It is similar to figure skating with roller skates. I caught his performance on DD, he was pretty good. Though, some of his moves reminded me of Will Ferrel in blades of glory.

indian boxing contingent led by chautala complaining that suranjoy lost his gold to chinese boxer because refereeing & judges were pro-china.
Vikas' match was strange considering the rough play from the chinese including the tackle like throw on Vikas aswell as hitting him under the belt. on the podium the chinese didnot shake hands & walked off without clicking the foto with the winner

Sidd: Thanks for that link; it was exactly what I was looking for this morning. Hmmm....there are so many more events, and yeh dil maangta hain more abhi.
Boxing: 3 medals assured - gold or silver.
Kabbadi: 2 medals assured - gold or silver.
Women 4x400m team bagged the gold in CWG; so the hopes will be high for them to get a medal.

India could end up with 6th position and a better medal haul from last time. It is some improvement, despite the very poor show from our shooters, wrestlers and archers. I think if India can start beating Asian contestants in wrestling, shooting and archery we should easily see a gold medal haul of more than 25 that will surely put us in the 4th position behind SoKo, Japan and China

we will likely beat our best ever haul of 13 golds(need three more to equal) and 57 medals(this is sure because we have 54 and 5 medals are assured in boxing & kabbadi).

that being said - nobody is sitting idle and kazakhstan, uzbekistan and iran are turning out to be quite a handful. the total population of kazakh+uzbek (~40mil) is less than NCR probably..and these are not particularly rich or well endowed nations . and Hong Kong and Taiwan also won many golds. shows that even the small can pack a big bite with good planning and funding.

we need to start winning more asiad medals in medal rich events like wrestling and shooting...
