http://www.thehindu.com/sport/cricket/a ... 596608.eceHailing India’s sensational World Cup triumph last night as a great team effort, chief selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth on Sunday said Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men defeated all the top teams in the mega-event to prove themselves the best.
“It’s a great team effort, a superb effort by the boys.
Don’t forget they had beaten all the big teams. That shows India is clearly the best team in the world,” the former India captain told PTI a day after Dhoni’s warriors vanquished Sri Lanka by six wickets in the Cup final here.
According to the former opener, the brilliant display by the Indian squad showed what a good combination of talent can achieve.

Indians were supposedly soooooooooo sullen because of drop in foreign investment, and this kirket victory raised spirits according to this NYT artrcile written by a gora and a lifafa uncle Tom

Anytime Indians celebrate something, all kinds of piskology is needed, but when goars pay hard-earned $s, stand in line for days to get a ticket to yankees baseball game, and spends days and nights and hours talking baseball, its the "great American passion" .

POONAM PANDEY EXCLUSIVE Letter copy to BCCI Request for permission
The Board of Governors/ Manager
The BCCI
Dear Sir,
I write to you as a great fan of Cricket and above all a patriotic Indian.
I want India to win the Cricket World Cup 2011 and am willing to go the extra mile to do anything so that India wins the World Cup. I am a model and actress and have decided to do what I can for India !!
I have already expressed my desire to further motivate the Indian Cricket team to perform better and lift the World Cup.
I am ready and willing at any place and time of the Indian teams choosing to go in the nude to boost their sporting spirit to perform better.
This I say seriously, as there are many studies conducted by various Universities abroad which confirms and infers that such performances/expectations boost and inspire people to perform better in any field, be it sports or otherwise. Even medical books on psychology and psychiatry confirms this.
You will appreciate that India has been longing for a World Cup ever since.
Cricket today is a religion in India. Should India lose the World Cup it would demoralize hundreds of crores of Indians and people may react violently in some places too.
It is therefore my humble request to you to allow me to perform in the privacy of the Indian Cricket teams Dressing room or any other place of your choosing. (YOU MAY ALSO CHOOSE A FOREIGN LAND LIKE PARIS IN FRANCE ,SO THAT THE LAWS OF INDIA -IF A HINDRANCE , SHALL NOT APPLY)
This shall be a private therapeutic performance –with a psychologist’s presence and hence cannot be an offence under any law for the time being in force if the team members have no objection and the BCCI gives the go ahead.
Only appearing in the nude in Public is an offence but in private with consenting adults for a purpose therapeutic is no offence. Even a contract for the same can be drawn up and should not be in violation of the Indian Contract Act as it is not opposed to public policy or morality. Besides the BCCI is not a Government body and can enter in to such a contract.
Should such a contract be needed to be drawn you can approach my lawyer , Advocate Prashant Uchil on 022-32639020 to discuss modalities and the same shall be signed by me without any hesitation to protect the institution (BCCI) and indemnify it .
Looking forward to your assistance to make Team India win the World Cup 2011 !!
Warm Regards,
The Board of Governors/ Manager

No matter. See how all the captains of the opposing teams grudgingly admit that the Indian side was unbeatable and also try to do taqqiya to be allowed a few crumbs of the table? Despite all piskology and justification and conspiracy theories, all know in their hearts who the big gorilla in the forest is right now and they are ready to GUBO.

This is the main reason why India won
A change in attitude. That's all what was needed. Next step should be to adapt this attitude to everything else Indians do, henceforth.

Sreesanth''s parents elated as Kerala celebrates WC triumph
Kochi, Apr 2 (PTI) As Kerala erupted in joy with Team India winning the ICC World Cup 2011 final against Sri Lanka today, it was celebration time at the home of fast bowler S Sreesanth here. The elated parents of the Kerala pacer told reporters, "We are very happy that India has won". Sreesanth's father, Santhakumaran Nair, said, "It is due to God's grace that Sree could play in the final and it is again due to God's grace that India has won the World Cup". Sreesanth's mother said she was happy that the pacer, who was born in 1983, the year India last lifted the World Cup, was part of the winning team that won the trophy after 28 years today.

SwamyG, I will happily have a dinner with either Aakar Patel or Barkha Dutt, so I will keep bringing other babies and their showers. Point is hickey is first among equals for me due to the strange connections I have to the game. That is probably the only way to do my share of holding the family flag in the game. These morons are all mucho gas, less sound and fury. I am waiting for many responses from Mukul Kesavan, who as usual has opened his fartbox in the telegraph. You fear only if you cant counterpoint their farts or are not suave enough for their rubbish, but when you are a bigger fart, a better fart and a deeper fart than the normal farts, relax and be yourself is the key .
shaardula, the game was good, what more can I say. When one day goes some way in healing 15 years of angst, pain and desperation for revenge, there is little more that needs to be said. I hate Sri Lanka with a capital H and am happy to admit that, they may be lesser whinier oiseaules than the pakis, but they are putting a finger in our economics using Colombo and Hambantota Ports. I cant divorce myself (like others can) from economics and geopolitics and enjoy a game for the sake of a game, so the more soundly we thrash the oiseaules, the happier it is in some vague sense even though the money lost is not recovered right away. Plus, I hate the bullshit that gets peddled as Buddhism in SL and am happy to admit my hypocrisy, so I will continue hating the oiseaules across the Strait whether they get soundly thrashed or not. In how many countries have you seen a Junius Jayewardene convert from Christianity to Buddhism and a Tilekaratne Dilshan convert from Islam to Buddhism? Only in SL is that possible, that is how strange their Buddhism is, you conform or be coerced to comply.
As an aside, I am waiting for the day when TI will have won the Cup in all the test playing host nations, that day aint far off, we are just two short of the interim leader.

Stan: It clearly shows your lack of respect to that particular family, no? This is cricket dhaaga. Period. If you insist on bringing hockey ityadi, nobody can stop you but my respect for you will come down. This is not the place and time to talk about how other sports are treated unfairly. There is the Sports dhaaga, no? Why be a bee in the filter coffee?

SCG's reaction.
Fabulous feeling: Sourav
LOKENDRA PRATAP SAHI
Sourav Ganguly
Mumbai: “It’s a fabulous feeling... Feels great.”
That was former captain Sourav Ganguly’s reaction as Mahendra Singh Dhoni got the winning runs in the World Cup final.
Sourav had been at the helm when India last reached the title-round, in 2003. “The better team (Australia) won that day, the better team has won tonight... That final is history, this final is going to be talked about now,” he told The Telegraph.
Smiling, Sourav added: “See the difference when Dhoni promotes himself {context : he is always advocating dhoni to bat up the order in his columns}... Chasing 275 wasn’t going to be easy, but we played normal cricket and that worked... Gautam Gambhir’s was an excellent knock.”
Sourav singled out Dhoni and Man of the Tournament Yuvraj Singh, his protege at one time, for special mention.

As the message of winning the cup sinks in the following thoughts are being expressed by many
Dhoni sent a strong message to the nation- you can do it and when the chips are down don't fear, face adversities head on and if you want to be a leader lead from the front but do your homework right.
bravo Dhoni-this win has been the source of strength to the middle class in the time of scams

The feeling is yet to sink in, says R Ashwin
Ashwin says he is pretty happy that he played a crucial role in India’s World Cup campaign with his tight bowling against Australia and West Indies before the team made the finals. “It feels great that I had a role to play in taking our team into the finals. There were few in 1983, who unfortunately, did not play. But I am happy that I got the chance to make my presence felt. And I am pretty happy with my performance.”
