I was one of those that was opposed to the idea of overtly bringing up a hindutva agenda during the campaign phase as I did not want fence sitters to be pushed away. I'm still de-racinated
, to an extent, to understand the thought process. It takes a long to time to get rid of those scars. Trust me on this. This from a guy who spent 12 years doing suprabatham, veda chanting and bhajans every single day ( through out schooling ). These days I don't visit temples, do puja or even pray. However, I'm not opposed to all of that.
Having said that, I strongly believe NaMo should implement most of, if not all, hindutva agenda related items right away. Controversial stuff should be done right away. Waiting to work on UCC/370 until after 2019 will be a disaster. Realistically, what are the chances that BJP will get 70+ in UP again? We may make up for any potential losses elsewhere. But why take a risk? We have the numbers NOW to do it. Why do we have to postpone it for a next time. What happens if BJP doesn't get the same overwhelming numbers next? We would have squandered away a chance that we may never get again. Congi's are not dead and buried... yet. Eventually, they will find someone to rally around and muslims/christians will join them. Gonna happen.
Hence, 370/UCC etc. should be taken up during this 'honeymoon' phase. Development agenda should be implemented in parallel. Hopefully, at the end of 5 years, we will be able to see the effects of development and ensure another term for BJP. Priority number one should be getting rid of government control over temples. It will serve the dual purpose of cutting off some indirect funding to muslim and christian orgs. And allow hindu orgs to effectively use the funds to help out the needed ( which prevents conversions or at least slow down the process ).
