Last 6 months it seems like that. Don't forget Ayyappa Society issue and going after high-profile people. He went after properties of Andhra people soon after he became CM. Only after some "thappad" (slap) he backed down.

His antics so far with respect to Hyderabad alone, ignoring continuous abusive behavior and language and antics on water and electricity to create war between police from two states, who beat each other in one episode, are:

Go after Andhra people => to get Hyderabadi T-people support (they make up 1/3)
Go along with MIM => to get Hyderabadi Muslim support (they make up 1/3)
Pull TDP MLAs/leaders => to weaken TDP in Hyderabad (they make up 1/3)
and now, Telephone-tapping => to use on people for black-mailing.

Kakkaji wrote:Here is a question for Telugu Gurus from a confused Naarthie:

Are Kammas like the Jats of Haryana or Yadavs of UP -- supposedly OBC but rich landowners and politically powerful?

And are Velammas like Rajputs -- feudals many of who collaborated with Islamics?
Before I answer that, small history:

Ruling in Andhra/Telugu can be divided into a few phases until modern democracy is formed.

Kshatriya phase => Imperial rule (BC - 1000 AD)
Nayaka phase => Federation rule (1000 - 1947)
Sultanate phase => Islamic rule (1600 - 1948)
British Raj => Colonial rule (1800 - 1947)

In the first phase, there were empires/kingdoms like Satavahans, Ikshwakus, Vishnu Kundinis, Pallavas, Chalukyas, and Cholas. There was also Janpad prior to Satavahanas where there was ruling by small kings.

In the Nayaka phase there were empires/kingdoms like Kakatiya, Musunuri, Reddy, Gajapati, Vijayanagara and small kingdoms/Nayakadoms like Kota, Recherla. Once Islamic and British ruling dominated these Nayakadoms became Samsthanams/Zamindaris (Bobbili, Pitapuram, Vasireddy, Venkatagiri, Wanaparthy, etc).

Let's Map that history to people. There was lose Jathi called Kapu (meaning Protector). The people from this group served the kings as soldiers, generals, land owners, and farmers. Nayakas were from this group and over time it split into separate castes and became upper castes of current day, namely Reddy, Kamma, Velama and Kapu. They are Sudras as per Varna but played both Kshtriya, Vysya and Sudra roles in traditional sense. (**It is also reason why there is friction between them and Brahmins. They think historically they gave a lot of Agraharas - Residential and agriculture area for Brahmins- for Brahmins so when they became powerful in administration under British, they didn't like Brahmins over-lording them similar to field-slaves not liking house-slaves. It resulted in Justice party mind-set, them as Lords vs Brahmins as Clerks.). Coming to 19th century and independence, they ended up holding vast agriculture land (80+%) being former lords and being Sudra/industrious they ventured into industries and movies and ended up as industrialists too.

In a sense they are like Jats (Hindu/Sikh) of North India. They are not Yadavs because there are Yadavs as separate community, called Golla and Bunt, in Andhra. Besides being pastoral community, they were also rulers like Vijayanagara kings and there were lesser known Golla kings ruling small areas. Gollas are OBC like they are in UP but those 4 castes are upper castes.

Here is info on some castes of AP

Upper castes in AP are:
Kshtriyas => None left (There are descendants of Pallavs and Chalukyas-Cholas but rare to find)
Lesser Kshtriyas => Rajus (Aviation minister Ashok Gajapati Raju)
Brahmins => Vaidika (smartha) and Madhwa Brahmins
Lesser Brahmis => Niyogi (PM P.V. Narasimha Rao)
Vysya => Komati, Chetty (Governor K.Rosiah)
Sudra => Kamma (CM N.T. Rama Rao), Reddy (President Neelam Sanjeev Reddy), Velama (KCR), Kapu (Chiranjeevi)

Dominant Sudra backward castes are:

Golla/Bunt (Yadavs)
Munnur Kapu (Kapus)
Thoorpu Kapu ( Kapus)
Koppu Velama ( Velamas)
Saali (Smiths and Weavers)

Dominant SCs are:

Malas (Mahars - Ambedkar's caste).

Coming to caste names:
Kamma is derived from Karma referring to Karma bhoomi (Krishna-Godavari Delta)
Reddy is derived from either Rattodu (Rastra Kootas) or Radhi (Infantry)
Velama is derived from Velanadu (Land of braves, again KG Delta)
Kapus still carry same old name Kapu.

Caste Titles the above castes use/used are:
Naidu is derived from Nayakudu/Nayak (leader)
Reddy is derived from Rattodu (Rastra Kootas) or Radhi (Infantry)
Rayudu is derived from Raya / Rai (Raja)
Choudhary has same meaning as in North India and Bengal
Rao has same meaning as in Western India/Rajastan

Good post as always. The problem now is all of Kammas, Kapus, Reddy and also Velamas only want to be Vysyas and they use only sword if stopped in Vysya tracks. That is contemporary Telugu lands :)

Thank you ShyamSP Saar. Very informative post.

One more Question Saar:

Since they all come from the same background, are there intermarriages between Kapu, Kamma, Reddy, and Velamma? Or are the subcaste boundaries rigid and insular?

The reason I am asking is, is there a chance of all these subcastes merging into a single large dominant group in Telugu lands, or are they going to be at each others' throats (politically) and keep Telugu Hindus politically divided for the foreseeable future?

Looks like KCR is serious about wooing industry for TG:

KCR hard-sells Telangana to India Inc
HYDERABAD, JUNE 12:
The Telangana State government on Friday presented its much awaited Industrial Policy 2015 to an audience of about 2,000 small and big industrialists who gathered here from across the country.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao tried to strike a chord with the industry by assuring them of a “graft-free, hassle-free” system that gives no scope for “pairavees” (lobbies).

He promised them a red carpet welcome to the CM’s Office from the airport and to vet their applications as quickly as possible. “We are going to penalise officials ₹1,000 a day for delays,” he said.

Mega projects, with investments of ₹200 crore and above, would be given permissions in 15 days, he said. The portal launched on Friday allows entrepreneurs to key in details and submit them.

Land allotment

A mechanism will be put in place to identify the requirement of land for a particular project. A Price Fixation Committee will determine the prices of land in different Industrial Parks. The prices will be listed on the dedicated website that has been launched by the State for Project clearances.

If need be, the State government will acquire land from private parties.
Seems like KCR is trying to prove himself to be a bigger "Vikas Purush" than CBN. This competition between them is good.

KCR is leveraging TG's strength, which is the city of Hyderabad, to woo industry. Telangana is now small enough that all of it can now be pulled by the mighty economic engine of Hyderabad.

CBN, on the other hand, needs to give up his obsession with building a Hyderabad++ in Amravathi, and leverage the strengths of the state he has got. He has fertile lands, a large coastline, and entrepreneurial people. IMHO he should follow the Gujarat model of distributed development of both agriculture and industry. With NaMo-like focus, in 10 years AP can:

1. Become "Annapurna" rice bowl to feed all of India,
2. Become gas and petrochemicals hub for the entire south,
3. Become the largest center for building naval ships and submarines,
4. Become the most modern temple pilgrimage and tourism center in India around Tirupathi
5. Add more to the above as you like

Are these just my pipe dreams? :)

In spite of cultural degradation for all the mercantile reasons and all sundry stuff, the war culture is always a folklore stuff. The vast Telugu lands and divisions are all nothing but massive wars between these clans. Even if the marry, the clannish behavior will stay for centuries to come as it survived for centuries.

KCR to win next elections must establish firmly in Hyderabad. He will not win same number of seats from rural like 2014, and needs to establish himself in the city. This fight with CBN is two fold, old enmity and Hyd dominance. The upcoming GHMC elections is very critical for KCR. 45+ seats out of 150 are reserved for Owaisi bigots, unless KCR gets substantial amount of seats he will obligated to MIM which will be sad news.
The reduction of TDP from Hyderabad will be key. Congress is pretty enthused about recent rallies in rural TG, and they are thinking they have a play. They will probably put lot of effort in the GHMC elections. What will be interesting is if Congress manages to get 30 seats, then MIM-Congress becomes a possibility again.

CBN will pander to converted Christians (SC/ST) to stay in race for 2019. He barely scraped thru in 2014 and unless he somehow puts away Jagan it will be a uphill battle. He doesn't have finances for dole-out , that's another issue.
Can anyone give ground reports from Kosta, do they feel CBN is disconnected due to his stay in Hyderabad ?

The more CBN panders to EJs the deeper the whole he digs himself into.
I am not surprised if he is pandering to EJs because, he is a penny-wise, pound-foolish,
thoroughly corrupt ras@@al. The whole capital city drama is just a real-estate land grab
for himself, and his kamma cronies.

I wonder why Modi and Amit Shah are quiet regarding Andhra. Maybe the are waiting for
the inevitable fiasco that the capital will be. In the meantime they should crush Jagan,
and build some leadership. The AP state president and Vizag MP seems to be not very effective.

KCR doesn't realize he's isolating himself. he an only see that he's concentrating more power in his hands. but the flip side is when eventually it goes downhill, he'll be the only one people will hold responsible.

it would be far more advantageous for him if he can keep TDP alive in some form. that way he can blame every problem on some phantom TDP "andhra" conspiracy. But his ego and paranoia won't allow that. so he wants to take TDP down entirely from TG.

My modeling was that he would also simultaneously move against BJP, b/c he knows in the back of his mind that BJP is the one part with "ideology" that can potentially be problematic to him in long term. In my own personal conversations with backers of TRS, it is very clear that their own attitudes on social/political issues are similar to INC's vacuum ideology. They are also very sensitive to "threat" from Hindutva.

but they have to back off from BJP for now, b/c BJP at Center is so powerful. They have made the right calculation that moving against BJP at this point could potentially be a disaster, especially when BJP under Modi enjoys so much goodwill. So for now, KCR and his coterie will not show their true intentions regarding BJP or Hindutva.

One side-effect of TDP's rollback from TG will be: TDP will actually take-up a subtle 2-faced approach between INC/BJP. Yes, in Parliament and on "central" issues, TDP will play coy with BJP. They will want to "extract" more from BJP. So in the future don't expect things between TDP and BJP to remain as they were. If BJP at any time seems week, TDP will move for the kill. They will want a "similar" arrangement as that of KCR: Subahdar of Andhra. and if BJP plays hardball, they will push right back and might even overtly support change their tone in favor of INC.

INC by that point will simply be a place-holder for all anti-Hindus and other forces which perceive a threat in the "unity" of Hindus (as in, the formation of a united front of Hindus from all parts of Bharat). Whether dynasty will be dumped is to be seen. it could happen if alternate leaders of anti-Hindutva variety identify a different model.

Ironically, KCR&Coterie will wait till TDP arrives at the stage where it starts playing with BJP. That's when TRS/KCR will move against BJP in TG. It will be a coordinated attack against any potential backers or "nay sayers" who are experimenting with "saffron".

You're asking question that actually confuses if I answer.

Note that these four castes emerged after merging and de-merging of a lot of subcastes, some times historically they may not belong to the caste they are identifying currently at all. As per Kaushal Vepa, a BRF veteran, the castes that otherwise had gone through a dynamic process were fossilized by the British caste survey.

Reddy is title not caste. Reddy was title used by Nayakas, BCs, Tribes. So whoever or whichever group carried Reddy title and had some sort of village headmen position became modern day Reddys. For example, Chowdary Reddy is subcaste of Reddy. Kamma Reddy is associated with Kamma. Velama Reddy is a Velama. Bulk of Reddys are Kapu reddys. Some times a Reddy person from Nellore district says himself as Kapu without knowing that there is a caste called Kapu. Even when I was kid I only knew Kapu means Reddy.

Many groups identified themselves as Kapus may not be original Kapus. But in last century they wanted to form a larger group so identified several other castes as Kapu subcastes who may not be historically Kapus. Many Kapu subcastes are BCs and so now even upper caste Kapus want BC status because majority of Kapus are BCs. Confusing. yes!

When it comes to Velamas, they still distinguishes Velama Nayakas and Koppu Velamas. A Velama may marry to a Kamma but not to Koppu Velama. In fact, as per history Kammas and Velamas were the same group but split over time. Over time Velamas ended up with a large number of Samsthams as Rajas covering current day Telangana, Andhra, Karnataka, and Tamilnadu. Modern day Chennai formed on top of land grant given by Chennappa Naidu son, a Velama, to the British. Kammas had a fewer samshthanams but had numbers so ended up holding lands say in the order of 100s of acres across vast stretch of those 4 states mentioned. Currently Velamas may be 1% but Kammas are 4-5% and Reddys are 6-7% and Kapus are 12%. Once the British started Anicuts/dams and Canals, Kammas and Reddys ended with most land.

Coming back to your original question, they historically separated and identified themselves as different. Centuries of frictions between them make it difficult to fuse themselves into a larger group. That boundary is somewhat rigid than say with subcastes that fused themselves into one of those 4 castes.

Now there are sting operation and phone-tapping issues going on in Telangana. All the political buzz apart, for outsiders it is difficult to understand there is clearly Reddy vs Velama vs Kamma shadow-boxing there based on conversation leaked on caste equations. KCR equally pissed Reddys and Kammas in this episode. It is an indication of more friction among these castes going forward.

Mind It! The Andhra-Telangana Rivalry
The acrimony between the two states is hotter than their weather and food. And it’s no laughing matter.

It is entirely likely that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of Telangana—he of the gigantic tilak and impressive proboscis, carries a large chip on his shoulder.

This, despite the dignity imparted by his leanness, his crisp white cottons, his being undisputed master of the state with the Charminar, the Nizam’s palaces, all those chandeliers, silver, paan daans, hookahs, and the steel and glass of Hyderabad’s IT hubs.

This is a perceived philosophical position, of which Rao himself may not be entirely aware, mistaking his feelings instead for righteous indignation, which they certainly resemble.

The chip on KCR’s shoulder however, is not universal in nature, and he is not known to kick any dogs in his path. But it manifests most strongly with special regard to his neighbour and default rival, the redoubtable Chandrababu Naidu.

In a recent skirmish, that blazed despite the blistering heat wave that claimed the lives of scores of Andhraites caught out in the open, Rao accused Naidu of masterminding a cash-for-vote scandal in the recently held vote for the Telangana Legislative Council.

Naidu, in turn, asked, through gritted teeth, about who had been illegally tapping his phone?

He also dubbed as fake a voice-recording purported to be his, being bandied about by Rao’s party, the TRS. He said it could well have been spliced from various sources in order to malign him, and he wasn’t even sure if the voice was his, implying actors and stage managers good at reenactment.

And all this broke out, just short of the first anniversary of the formation of the two new states on June 2nd 2014. The Governor of the two new States, ESL Narasimhan, nimbly and discreetly side-stepped the fracas, even as the FIRs and court cases flew thick and fast from both sides. Each new thrust was aimed at the other, like so many vicious Khartoum javelins, with stereophonic sets of ACBs on each side, the better to both quote and confound.

A new entrant, conjoined, for the moment, to Rao’s side, is baying for Naidu’s blood too. This is the YSR Congress, led by the cross wearing and muscular Jagan Mohan Reddy, a southern Indian Travolta figure, the wealthy son of the former Congress Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.

Jagan has done considerable jail-time already, mostly, it is alleged, for defying Sonia Gandhi and demanding to be made CM immediately after his father’s death in a helicopter crash. And also, to be fair, for possessing hugely disproportionate assets, along with his widowed mother, as well as sundry relatives and minions.

Naidu, undaunted by all the ambient noise, went ahead and performed the bhoomi pujan on June 6th for Andhra’s new capital, named Amaravati, replete with Buddhist associations, to come up between Guntur and Vijayawada. Some brokers have made killings on land speculations thereabouts, of course, and others wish they had, given the loud murmurs in the air, for long: the location was, transparently enough, far from secret, because Naidu did a lot of his thinking very much aloud.

Amaravati will have, like Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati, a 30 km waterfront, fit to host Xi Jinping too. And Naidu has been saying that it would far surpass the charms of Hyderabad (also once revived and refreshed by himself), and be a truly ‘world class’ capital.

This, knocking out the scam-related bad press off the media as it did, must have got under Rao’s skin, and taken some of the joy out of being bequeathed the relatively ancient seat of Hyderabad, what with Naidu’s stamp and odour on it from recent times.

Besides the two governments, with their respective equipage and paraphernalia, must necessarily rub up against each other for 10 years yet, well, till Amaravati gets built, timeline slippages excepted. The policemen of Hyderabad, the traffic ones, are all developing Parkinson’s disease from the tension, and so recruitment needs to be stepped up with an eye to the future.

But being wiped off the map does not suit Rao any more than it does Delhi’s Kejriwal. So Rao got his stuff together and fired a fresh salvo, aimed at getting back in the headlines, and illustrate his altogether better governance credentials, on June 12th just past.

With this, Telangana also becomes the first state in the country to put in a Right to Clearance proviso in the very first enunciation of its maiden Industrial Policy. But in fact, the Telangana State Industrial Project Approval And Self Certification Systems Act, 2014, was made law months before the unveiling of the Industrial Policy itself. This Right to Clearance will result in the bureaucrat found responsible for tardiness to be fined Rs 1,000 a day till he completes his task.

It may not, however, turn out to be that much of a deterrent, because the accused ‘responsible official’ may manage to enmesh and entangle almost everyone linked to the process of granting clearance for an industrial project. This could include the political top bosses and, potentially, include Rao himself. If only he could see it. And distributing a thousand rupee fine per day amongst a busload of people may become less disincentive and more guffaw-worthy farce as we go along.

Still, diplomats and captains of industry present at the unveiling of the Industrial Policy and this RTI-like Right to Clearance sang hosannas of praise. They also predicted Hyderabad and Telangana will become a most favoured destination for investment under Rao’s sagacious leadership. It all made for excellent press.

The flatterers, predictably, included all the ones invested in Hyderabad and its environs, including the bosses of ITC, GMR, the Ruia Group, the GVK Group, Walmart India, Apollo Hospitals, TCS, and august trade bodies like NASSCOM, and CII .

This story has a backstory, of course. It was, after all, in Naidu’s Telegu Desam Party wherein Rao was once ensconced, albeit with some assistance from an earlier still stint as a Congressman.

Rao, curiously, for a South Indian, knows his Hindi to deal with Delhi, but not his English. Not even to speak directly to his then Italian/Indian High Command.

Naidu, on his part, does a masterful ‘mind-it’ Andhra-accented version of it, that proves altogether serviceable, if a tad menacing, even when he’s trying to be nice. Besides, Naidu, the son-in-law of the legendary NT Rama Rao, has long been a highly successful CM of undivided Andhra Pradesh.

He was IT-savvy years ago, much before Narendra Modi rose to prominence, and even hobnobbed with Bill Gates, getting him to base Microsoft’s development centre and Indian HQ in Hyderabad. Naidu is credited with rejuvenating and modernising Hyderabad/Secunderabad, cleaning it up, putting in infrastructure and new hotels and starting a real estate boom there.

He also began to give Bengaluru a run for its money as the IT Capital of India. But even after all this, he came a cropper in the elections, for ignoring the villages and the voting population in them. That was, nevertheless, a long time ago.

But here he is again, Chandrababu Naidu, in his bright yellow TDP party colours, the current CM of the newly truncated Andhra Pradesh, with 16 seats won in the recent Lok Sabha elections to boot—contributing its crucial strength to the ruling NDA at the Centre.

The demand for a separate Telengana, headed by Rao today, has also been simmering for decades, but the opportune moment came in the run up to the general elections of 2014, when the High Command of the UPA thought it would afford it an electoral boost.

Instead, the rump of Andhra Pradesh, led by Chandrababu Naidu, joined hands with the NDA and won the bulk of the Lok Sabha seats from both halves of the old state.

What can we do now? Let us wait for the next episode of this pinging-ponging thing, without however laying any hurtful bets on who will come out on top of whom…

The sad circus playing out in Deccan
The birth of a new state is always a moment of hope as well as remembrance of the struggle that went into its creation. India’s history since 1947 shows that the formative years of all such states—Gujarat, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh—are spent in building and creating the infrastructure of development. These years are also peaceful. Usually, one party dominates the state for a number of years, if not a decade, before opposition parties can get their act together.

In most of these respects, Telangana is an outlier, and for the worse.

Barely a year after it was created as India’s 29th state, Telangana continues to be marred by political bitterness with its neighbour—Andhra Pradesh. In the past two weeks, a series of charges and counter-charges have been exchanged between K. Chandrasekhar Rao, chief minister of the new state, and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart, N. Chandrababu Naidu. The nature and extent of these exchanges is such that were Andhra Pradesh and Telangana not Indian states, one could have easily mistaken them for two different countries.

In early June, a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Revanth Reddy, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad while allegedly handing over a Rs.50 lakh bribe to another MLA Elvis Stephenson. This began a chain of events in which allegations of bribery were levelled against Naidu who, in turn, alleged that the Telangana government had tapped his phones. A number of police cases were filed against Rao in Hyderabad and elsewhere. Matters finally reached a pitch with a demand for invoking Section 8 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. This section deals with the special responsibilities of the governor of Telangana for maintaining law and order in Hyderabad. In discharging this responsibility, the governor has wide amplitude and is guided by two advisers appointed by the Union government. The demand was made by the Andhra Pradesh government and the motivation was clear: the abuse of police machinery—the ACB is part of the police set up—by the Telangana government.

Some residuary bitterness after a contested separation between two states can be imagined. But what marks out Telangana and its ruling party, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is continuous use of divisive and bitter politics even after the goal of a separate state has been achieved. This is in marked contrast to what has been seen in most states, the only possible exception being the politics of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi—again a very different phenomenon.

What makes this unfortunate is that the goal for which Telangana was sought has been forgotten. The state’s backwardness in terms of social indicators is well-known. But in the last one year, the TRS and its government have spent more time in berating Andhra Pradesh and the TDP instead of focusing on pressing tasks. Telangana has plenty of challenges ranging from development to managing its security—the state borders Maoist-infested districts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. This is a problem waiting to blow up.

The intriguing part of this sort of politics is that it is inexplicable. There are no elections due in Telangana (the state assembly elections are due only in 2019) and divisive mobilization has no purpose at the moment, unless the government is doing something else and wants the attention of the electorate to be diverted.

There is also one other explanation. Parties that excel in mobilizational politics often have a hard time governing once elected to power. It took Mamata Banerjee more than two years to settle down in West Bengal; in Delhi, AAP continues to be on one big, continuous, dharna. Is the TRS following this pattern? If that is the case, then the administrative and political consequences for Telangana are disturbing to comprehend. A new state needs to give time to its civil servants to settle down and needs to focus on building much needed social and physical infrastructure. The TRS is not doing that.

Looks like Telangana government / Trs did phone tapping of people including AP government. If enough evidence is there, many people go to jail.

TDP has to go after aggressively to nail those culprits in TRS and YSRC

My CT :P

YSR kept the state United to make money thru RE & Jalayajnam. Reliance went back on SeZ promise resulting Satyam fiasco.

TDK planned the bifurcation & made sure that her people bought all lands in planned areas.

CBN preempted that plan by rejecting those proposals. He chose Amaravati to make money for his funding sources.

Modi is trying to preempt CBN network because it's no different from INC plan.

Telangana Govt requests President to launch 'Haritha Haram' drive
As a part of the programme, it is proposed to plant 230 crore saplings over a period of three years, both within the reserve forest to improve forest density and outside forest to promote greenery and improve incomes for the farmers, the chief minister said. Rao further said community participation in the programme as a green movement is the highlight of this approach.
"For the current year, 39.60 crore saplings have been raised, which are ready for planting starting first week of July this year," Rao said.
Pretty impressive even if they finish and maintain fraction of the above numbers.

This is like every family in T taking care of more than 100 trees per family. First let every family takes care of one tree. That itself will be a huge success. What is happening is that both governments are using media as party propaganda and misleading public with unrealistic claims.

When greater Vizag was hit by hudhud cyclone, it almost flattened every tree. The whole city with the help of govt and NGOs put their heart and soul to rejuvenate the huge green cover that Vizag is known for. Every family in large residential areas participated in the tree plantation. Unlike other attempts where there is hardly any follow up, here govt and NGOs with foresight took care of metal fencing as well as watering for the next two years. In spite of this focus, they could plant only 1.1 lakh trees, out of which only 80000 survived. In another two years, perhaps another 20000 will die. This is more realistic picture per city.

Cash-for-vote scam: Preliminary report by forensic lab says tapes are genuine
The Forensic Science Laboratory has submitted a preliminary report to the special court of the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday regarding the genuineness of audiotape and videotape in the cash-for-vote case
The report submitted by the APFSL to the ACB court also includes the alleged audio conversation between AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr Stephenson.

APFSL sources said that the both the recordings were found to be genuine and not tampered with. However, the voices in the tapes are yet to be verified as the test samples were not available. The APFSL also filed copies of the video and audio recordings in the court.

I can't do any thing with the information other than publicize it as TS state's achievement. What I was trying was to track the progress via the web site they created but I can't see anything in it yet.

Andhra Pradesh vs Tamil Nadu: How the Chandrababu Naidu-led state is becoming the new investment magnet

I don't want to start a Tamil-Telugu flamewar here, but interesting claims and counter-claims in the article.

Sounds like Jayalalitha is slowing down due to age, sickness, and legal issues, while CBN is agressively pursuing industry to set up shop in his state.

TDP MP Says People Join Army For Free Liquor!
Telugu Desam Party MP from Amalapuram Pandula Ravindra Babu presented his disgusting attitude humiliating Indian Armed forces. He made shameful comments over an Indian Army retired Major calling him and the rest of people serving in armed forces of India for free liquor, free meat, free holidaying (LTC) with family and many other loathing words which had left people across the nation to pelt stones over their TV sets. He made the statement while defending the action of carrying a matchbox on a plane by TDP Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, and was responding to queries raised by retired serviceman major Vijay. Although on being asked to apologize for his bizzare statements and comments of joining the forces because of the subsidised alcohol and free rations, re resists to apologize and correct his stand over Indian armed forces. The video of the remarks is going viral while the users of social media are strongly criticised the MP's statements.
