A truly great son of India and a great inspiration for many generations.
I had the good fortune to meet him in person in Delhi and he gave me a job.

A great life! May the journey continue in the service of Bharat Mata.

I met him at a charity event a few years back, a very humble, down-to-earth person. He was kind enough to sign my copy of wings of Fire, shook my hand and shared a few words of encouragement! :(

May he attain moksh!

This is double whammy in a single day. I feel privileged to have lived in the same time as this great son of Bharat Mata. Bharat Mata has lost some great sons today and they will be remembered by the sons and daughters of this country till the day Bharat exists. I wish you will come back soon.

Very sad day for me. If there is something called moksha, you surely deserve that sir, but if you are to take birth again, I pray and hope you are born in India and serve the country again.

you said it rohit, I have tears in my eyes. it feels hard to believe that he will no longer inspire us with great dreams and ideas delivered in his inimitable childlike enthusiasm. :(

you made us believe sir, in ourselves, in the fact that honesty and wonder can survive decades of Indian bureaucracy. most of all, you convinced us to dream. more than anything else you would be remembered for that.

Same here. Major roads named after him, a major university, important city squares, colleges. And at least one bronze statue of Dr. Kalam in New Delhi.

He lived a virtuous life, was an idealist and a true patriot.

He has moved on to a higher life form.

If he comes back again as a human, may that be in Bharat again.

We are all sad, but we should remember that his work and inspiration will live on.

What Abdul Kalamji did was teaching Indian they can make world class weapons and are second to none. He has inspired Indians to think and conceptualize new weapons. That is his legacy.
I am not sad.
Only more resolute to ensure India is never the "sixth" country in any thing.

That was his message.

What a loss. Even after retirement he was active. It is too bad that he wasn't allowed to serve a 2nd term as president. The country and the world needed him.

am very sad hearing this news. may he be born again and lead us across other frontiers, when I was in DRDL and his protégé who was my boss told me so many wonderful tales about how he used to encourage young engineers and enable them to surpass all boundaries of achievement. really sad

I sent him a poem that I wrote and published first on Bharat Rakshak Monitor. He was kind enough to write a personal note in response, which I will treasure.

When he was President, he once inaugurated the December music season at Music Academy at Chennai, where I was in the audience. His humility, kindness and ability to connect with the audience (even a snooty one like that in the Music Academy) were inspiring. In that inauguration speech, he displayed a depth of knowledge about the Gita and other Hindu texts, about classical music (he himself played the Veena), about Tamil literature. Amazing man.
