Dear Sir ,

You wrote this in your diary on the night of the 1st Successful test AGNI .

"Do not look at Agni
as an entity directed upward
to deter the ominous
or exhibit your might.
It is fire
in the heart of an Indian.
Do not even give it
the form of a missile
as it clings to the
burning pride of this nation
and thus is bright "
.

With your guidance and inspiration , the AGNI continues to be burning brighter day by day .
Your memory, ideas and teaching will always be my guiding light .

I pray to my Shiva , to give your soul the Eternal Peace and Moksha .

Typing this with moist eyes. A great son of Bharath. Whenever I think of him, the word Inspiration comes to mind. The best we could do is to realize his vision 2020 for Bharath.

On a lighter note let us remember the agent code named "Major general Prithviraj" from 1998 Shakti tests

yep that's correct. To hide from Satellites, Scientists were taken in army fatigues, APJ's code name "Maj General Prithviraj". We had great fun back then discussing his belly and the dress. Let us also remember the good times that we had due to this great guy.

Kalam Ji is not dead! He has moved into a 'livable planet' now.
He will continue his teachings from there..

I have hopes that all Indians will listen (at least start listening) to him from now on.

RIP sir. Your books were an inspiration growing up and becoming engineer. Even getting kicked out of AFSB Varanasi was bearable because they said even Dr Kalam could not make it here. The best quote that resonated with me were

"Climbing to the top demands strength, whether it is to the top of Mount Everest or to the top of your career."
“Dream is not that which you see while sleeping it is something that does not let you sleep.”

There was a post on whatapp that said some people goto Haj and some to Kashi but it takes a real punya aatma to goto heaven on Aashadhi Ekadashi (very auspicious day in Marathi calendar marks end of Pandharpur yatra)

He quickly struck conversation in Tamil with my then 13 year daughter in Seattle when we presented him with a recording of the Indo Colonial Music of Dikshitar (Vismaya). “unakku Dikshitar pidikumma ma? enakku Tyagarajar taan ma pidikkum. ‘yandaro mahanubhavulu”. (Do you like Dikshitar? I like Tyagaraja the most”).

A meanungful life need not be endless. The best tribute would be to lead such a life, in emulation of priciples.

The only president anywhere that I met as an equal(ordinary citizen), and it didnt feel unusual. Now the opportunity is lost forever.

Brings back memories from an Indian Science Congress meeting in Calcutta in the early 90s. He was giving a talk at one of the venues (Ramakrishna mission bldg) and it was on Arjun tanks, at least the part when I was in the hall. He was with the DRDO then. I had never seen anyone in India talk as energetically and with conviction as him before that. I was quite impressed as a 20+ yr old grad student on my first visit back home. Did not know who he was or even his association with ISRO in the past. I do regret having not gone up and approached him...I was awestruck to say the least just by the power of his convictions. Such positive energy filled the entire room.

Its fitting that he died doing what he does best - Inspiring people. Should be truly cherished and the very fact that we lived in his time makes our lives a bit more worthy.

Here was one person who could really move forward beyond religion, race, identity and everything little that other human beings fight for and go for a larger cherished goal. Incredible.

I was hoping that once the term of President Pranab ends we can have Dr.Kalam as President again. I do remember when the whole nation wanted Dr.Kalam to be given a second chance to be the President. The Congress and Left got together and denied him that. I still remember the situation when unable to remove him and bring in another person, the sinister plan was to ask for a Female President. Remember they did not ask for a person from the minority community (which they usually do) but a Female President . And they wanted the Vice President to be a person from Minority community. That was the proposal which the Congress made through the left and these two ensured that Dr.Kalam did not get a second term. That's how Dr.Kalam was removed and Pratibha Patil got elected. I still feel sad that we cannot stop it neither reverse what was done to this great son of India and to the Indian nation. The great loot of the nation followed.
