Wrong forum... Mumbai is strong, Mumbai remembers, and Mumbaikars will rejoice when they should.
They did that before the match...

No need to bring it up now. This is a moment of joy...

Surya, Me too!

I had my friends calling me to watch and I refused saying that for the last two matches I have not watched and I do not want to jinx this one. Been on tenterhooks all night and all day (it is 3 PM EST here). Did not even check Cricinfo or rediff, turned the radio off as the local new station was mentioning about the match.
Now it is time to buy the Blue Ray Disc of the match and watch it on my 140" screen!!! Oh what a relief and what a feeling. Could n't help the tears as I read the comments from TI for Sachin. They played for India and the single minded goal to win it for Sachin helped them focus and be determined.
Jai Ho to Anti-Jinx Mantra (AJM)!
Thanks to all TI and to all BR, like Rahul M mentioned I need to go back to page 180 and start reading. Today is Champagne night!!!

Humble request to moderators: I'm typing this with as much detachment as one can muster during these times of celebration. The request is to archive/sticky this thread as it is one of those living, breathing gramophone records which must be preserved for posterity.

There has been a cacophony of emotions, thoughts, opinions and expressions as a team has progressed through various stages of a tough tournament, all of these myriad emotions, thoughts, opinions and expressions have been acted out truly and unknowingly of the final result, with plentiful prayers on the lips of all.

Millions of Indians, almost 2 entire generations have grown up without seeing the '83 win. This win is the beginning of the next stage of Indian sport (not just cricket). IMO many other up and coming Indian sportspeople will find certain inspiration through this win. This thread will be a treasurable piece for anyone who ever visits BR, hence the request.

Yes it is 1996 "final" repeating all over again....

In that final Kalu/Jaya were out cheaply and then Arvinda+Arjuna won them the match.

Thanks to those who did...you know who you are.

You see, by the time I woke up for the SF against TSP, the first 7 overs were done. The same thing happened today. Every time I woke up, TI would get under stress. The pattern was obvious.

So when Sehwag got out, I went under the rajai, but still with the laptop. When gawd went, I shut it down. I went back to sleep, checking ESPNCricinfo in between karwats on my iPhone, being lulled back to sleep by the score-board which kept ticking.

Woke up and ESPN was showing 150/3; I yelled Game ON waking up my family.

Hariprasad saar, If you look at the new generation of Indians both in India and abroad, in any field, in any profession, in any situation, they are completely different from the older generation re. mental makeup. They believe in themselves, know their worth and see themselves as nothing but the best - there is no awe of the goras, there is no bowing and scraping to anybody, no dhoti shivering, no "we are turd world onlee ji-huzoori" mentality - it is all focus and lethal aggressiveness (apart from some gigolo types and WKK types i.e.). And you can see this in the current Indian cricket team too - just compare their style of playing, their body language to the teams of past generations.

Don't Worry, America: The Next Cricket World Cup Will Be On ESPN
http://www.businessinsider.com/cricket- ... z1IOdBTl52
It's too late to ride the wave of this year's big event, but ESPN is finally on board with the real biggest sport in the world — or the fastest growing at least — cricket.ESPN announced last month they have bought the US broadcast rights to future ICC events, including the 2015 World Cup.The press release states that the programming is intended for ESPN3, their online only network, but you can bet that if the sport continues to grow, major cricket events could (despite their length) make it to "The Mothership."After all, they are the Worldwide Leader In Sports, right? (Or maybe by then ESPN3 will actually available in most U.S. homes, unlike today.)Some reports have pegged the worldwide TV audience for the semi-final between India and Pakistan at 1.3 billion, dwarfing the approximately 750M that watched FIFA's World Cup final last year. (Though both numbers are probably grossly inflated.)
