News - Osama Bin Laden - killed In Pakistan
Re: Breaking News - Osama Bin Laden - killed In Pakistan
My bit is - Low flying Chappers are not easy to detect. Further Pakiland do not have such a radar cover anywhere and particluarly is on the west side. In all probabulity the US seals will have full details of the radar net gaps etc to make the run. Their run also will aviod any visual observation possibility. Black Howk is the likely chapper because it is quite silent.I don't thing they would have used any libaral jamming as it may have been interpreted by Paki A** H**ls as Indian jamming. Considaring the distence there may have been at least one refuling dump stop within Paki land. One chapper is said ot be down. Possibilly shot down by pro Osama Paki army and not made public by US for the time being. There seems to be lot of door to door searching the pakiland immediately after the attack. So some seals must have been left behind when the helicaptor is down and picked up by other chapper. One women (wife of Osama???) and Osama son are also killed. So no civilians and no hands barred attack with orders to kill anything that moves. Great thing.

Was not Osama married to Mullah Omar's sister or daughter ?

Re: Breaking News - Osama Bin Laden - killed In Pakistan
The secret team that killed bin Laden.
From Ghazi Air Base in Pakistan, the modified MH-60 helicopters made their way to the garrison suburb of Abbottabad, about 30 miles from the center of Islamabad. Aboard were Navy SEALs, flown across the border from Afghanistan, along with tactical signals, intelligence collectors, and navigators using highly classified hyperspectral imagers.
After bursts of fire over 40 minutes, 22 people were killed or captured. One of the dead was Osama bin Laden, done in by a double tap — boom, boom — to the left side of his face. His body was aboard the choppers that made the trip back. One had experienced mechanical failure and was destroyed by U.S. forces, military and White House officials tell NationalJournal.
Were it not for this high-value target, it might have been a routine mission for the specially trained and highly mythologized SEAL Team Six, officially called the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, but known even to the locals at their home base Dam Neck in Virginia as just DevGru.
In an interview at CIA headquarters two weeks ago, a senior intelligence official said the two proud groups of American secret warriors had been “deconflicted and basically integrated” — finally — 10 years after 9/11. Indeed, according to accounts given to journalists by five senior administration officials Sunday night, the CIA gathered the intelligence that led to bin Laden’s location. A memo from CIA Director Leon Panetta sent Sunday night provides some hints of how the information was collected and analyzed. In it, he thanked the National Security Agency and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency for their help. NSA figured out, somehow, that there was no telephone or Internet service in the compound. How it did this without Pakistan’s knowledge is a secret. The NGIA makes the military’s maps but also develops their pattern recognition software — no doubt used to help establish, by February of this year, that the CIA could say with “high probability” that bin Laden and his family were living there.

In the absence of an real facts coming out so soon, Pakis and their henchmen in the media will have a field day saying how great the partnership was on that night. Probably A " Bob woodword" or a "Seymour Hersh" factoids will come up in 3-4 months, that's when we will get to hear the real story. Until then we need to bear with the noise.

Indian intelligence agencies were able to track down OBL's exact location early this year. They have been planning a special ops mission to kill OBL and expose USA and Pakistan perfidy.
That is why India went along with GCC plan to move 20K+ Pakistani army to GCC area, so it will reduce the risk of Paki retaliation after the planned cross-border raid.
.
Thanks for sharing and I do not doubt most of what you've been told is true.
I just find it hard to believe India was willing to launch a cross border raid to kill/capture/expose Osama yet for years we've not been willing to conduct similar raids to kill anti India elements in POK.

the national journal article on the JSOC posted above has this detail.
--
Several dozen JSOC operatives have died in Pakistan over the past several years. Their names are released by the Defense Department in the usual manner, but with a cover story -- generally, they were killed in training accidents in eastern Afghanistan. That’s the code.

My apologies for not having read all of this fast moving thread.
Just wanted to check. Is it clear from the official descriptions wether the five killed were the sole occupants of the compound? Or were there others (women) who were captured alive?

i'm still at page 20.
surprise was important. and i think only surprise at ingress(10-20 minutes) was important. after that what could tsp do even if they knew? they cant shoot down a vehicle with > 20 ameerkhans can they?
tsp didnot know or knew only at the very last moment that some op is on. they didnot know which was the target. there might so many targets in that general area, which are they going to secure and how many are they going to securely move?
if a lion attacks a caravan and every child is same and equally important, which one of them will will they save?
i think the US pulled one over tsp. tsp is going to flail.

22 people captured or killed

How did the helos elude the Pakistani air defense network? Did they spoof transponder codes? Were they painted and tricked out with Pakistan Air Force equipment? If so — and we may never know — two other JSOC units, the Technical Application Programs Office and the Aviation Technology Evaluation Group, were responsible.
Re: Breaking News - Osama Bin Laden - killed In Pakistan
The press briefing says: "There were several women and children at the compound. One woman was killed when she was used as a shield by a male combatant. Two other women were injured. During the raid, we lost one helicopter due to mechanical failure. The aircraft was destroyed by the crew and the assault force and crew members boarded the remaining aircraft to exit the compound. All non-combatants were moved safely away from the compound before the detonation."
So, I don't see how they could be in Paki custody.
Thank you, Shiv.

pretty amazing show if they managed a 22:0 score after 40 mins of fighting.
the women and kids were probably just left behind outside the compound for the pakpolice to pick up. their intelligence value would be zero because the arabs never involve women and kids when men talk serious stuff. so thats how the pakpolice got hold of them.

Why are Divijay Singh, Mulayam Singh, H Surjit, A roy, B Dutt, Sidarth Vardarajan, Teesta S, And S. Azmi keeping quiet? If Indian soldiers did somthing like this wouldn't immediately scream FAKE ENCOUNTER. Why are the Human rights group quiet. Similarly, Isnt the killing of Qadafi Grand Children a war crime.
Shows the Hypocracy all the Human rights wallahas and where thier loyalties lie, Doesnt it?

Re: Breaking News - Osama Bin Laden - killed In Pakistan
Probably when the Paki establishment are coordinating their efforts, probably they have a heard a mechanical sweet Betty voice telling "This is a danger zone, please stay away, there is an CIA operation underway, please stay away." US would have thought off this, and probably snooping communications around Abbottabad to prevent any nasty show off by local commanders and to warn them to stay off of the fighting zone . Lessons for India
1. Never buy amirkhan equipment, who knows what would happen when we use hercules on a spec-op
2. Concentrate on non-traditional areas while searching for the people on your top 20 list
3. If submarine visits your port let Pakis know as part of CBMs that someone has his tickets booked for meeting with 72s
Lessons for Pakis
1. Your whole life is a lesson for you.
2. Dont buy Chinese equipment they copy the design and the listening devices, so even if the radars are made in China they can still be listened by Khan
3. No one in your country is to be trusted, everyone is sold
4. Take your radars off India's borders, they are dharmic, they will not attack you after night-fall, they will give you dossiers before they cow down so those radars on your eastern border are not going to catch even one indian aircraft in their lifetime
5. If radars can be jammed think about what can be done to your fizayahs, may be they have sensors in their tyre which will puncture the tyre if you plan to take off on a mission that you havent told khan dada about, so use them for the purpose they were originally gifted to you i.e., throwing bombs on the talibunnies

a delta force led task force did manage to hunt down and arrest or kill most of the 'pack of jokers' in iraq too - incl killing his two sons in mosul town with ATGMs. though not hard stand up fight they did the job.
increasingly intel people and shooters seem to mix into same task forces.. kinda like what RAA JIT used to be or was meant to be.
