And original Caspian Sea Moster did not have roof mounted anti-ship missiles...this one had and could fire on the move. There is a video of this plane on youtube.

Host it on an image hosting website like Tinypic, copy the url of the pic from the website and use the IMG tags to post it here. If the image is big, just post the url here instead of using the IMG tags.

^ Shiv sir, I think I have a book of the same series, but on civilian aircraft. It has planes like the De havilland Comet etc. I can identify the style of presentation and the pics. Its a nice little book!

Edit: The Coleoptor pic reminded me of this book I had read on the second world war titled "German Secret Weapons : Blueprints from Mars". The germans tested an airplane like that in '44-'45.

I have the military one. The civil and military books were the only year when a separate one was produced (1967 I think). I have the whole series from about 1959 to the mid eighties. For my generation this was the only way of staying up to date with mil aviation

Saar the image is total photushoppe. I don't think the Kingfish was even built and there are two in the image.

Agree Guruji, it was a design/concept that lost out to A-12.
But the point is, the design depicted in the image was there , available to the Great Khan as early as 1959.

sharmaji - I got very suspicious of that image because the design is too modernistic for the 50s. It looked to me like a 21st century imaginative rendition. So I did some digging and sure enough I found an authentic reference from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. There is an e book with images and the images are clearly 1950s and not the photushoppe image above.

Oh that - in fact I think I deleted it by accident while clearing out some outdated videos - I forgot to uncheck the "delete" box for that and some other videos I did not want to delete. I will locate it on my hard drive and re upload it - but I am currently looking for alternatives to YouTube. Maybe Vimeo or something - I suspect there is a Paki contingent sitting in YouTube - or there is something funny going on.

For the first time today, I saw a fighter aircraft flying in Bengaluru. I am new here, and over the past month, I heard the thundering, but have never been able to spot any aircraft. Today, I realized the truth in what Shiv said at the beginning of this thread. Aircraft recognition is a skill, developed over years and recognizing an aircraft in a picture is very different from identifying one that is flying at high speeds.
The aircraft I "thought" I spotted today was a Mig 27

My next best guess was a Jaguar!

I absolutely have NO idea which one it was though. I can say with 'some' level of certainty, that it wasn't a Su-30. Can anyone please help me? I was thinking, maybe a listing of squadrons in and around B'luru, so that I can narrow it down to a few aircraft, next time I spot one.
