Look at these pics!!! I didn't realise IA SF went for camo'd weapons (other than camo cloth wrapped round them that is )

i can see in many pics TAR-21 is using widely in operations in Kashmir..... is it possible for us to replace all the INSAS with TAR for all our infantry soldiers...?

no it's expensive, even ordinary US soldiers carry basic M16 rifles.

How? In fact, I would say that reality is opposite. Both are pretty similar except that INSAS has pretty high dust tolerability as compared to M 16. Add picatinny rails, and I don't see the difference.

The INSAS has been specifically developed to indian environs and economy(read cheap production). Replacing that with the Tavor TAR-21 would result in a huge amount of money that could have been spent elsewhere or in developing the INSAS to satisfactory levels..
And if you don't mind me asking, why do suggest that we replace the INSAS with TAR-21 for the vanilla infantry units???

@Bala...

i am no weapon expert...... what i know is TAR is very much accurate and lethal [from the own word of my cousin who is in para]...
and in kargil as well in many CI operations we got some negative responses of INSAS... thats only reason i asked this doubt....

At first, I thought so too. But Para SF are not for guard duty. Also, hats and Tavors are not exclusive to Para SF. So, I think it is unlikely (though not impossible) that the soldier is Para SF.

Wonder why a senior beard from Oman is hosted in Jodhpur AFB? Are we showing him something or vice versa? It is not even a Jaguar base (India & Oman both use Jaguars)

That's not Rustom. That's the IAI Heron. India bought around 45-50 nos of them from Israel

^^^ that is normal. You see one always parked at BSE Sensex, Taj, secretariat and few other places - mostly in south Mumbai.
Mahindra won the contract after 26/11 considering that others were not even ready.
Tatas won the contest for something like the armoured truck. One is parked again always at BSE. It has not much anti-mine thingy. only bullet proof.

One thing always beats my mind whenever I see a Marksman. What if a terrorist was to take over such a vehicle and run around causing mayhem. Does it come with remote immobilizer?

Mumbai Police is the only police force that went in for the Marksman. I believe the elite anti-terrorism team of Maha Police, Force One, uses the vehicle.

Though I don't think its appropriate to mention where they are always parked, but you can be sure that they will be regulars at some of the most sensitive spots of the city. Wish more police forces went in for such vehicles!

^^^ 1. as far as I know, no other police has such a vehicle in India.

2. these vehicles are not only used by 'elite force 1'. there is anyway nothing elite about force 1 (discussed earlier) plus all pandus use the vehicle. nothing wrong there. The other day I saw a normal Mumbai police constable in a BPJ with an AK and that gandhian-style-police-topi. Have I had any mal intentions in my mind then, I wud have surely given them a go by with one look at him. Though he answered very politely to my some inane direction-query.

3. These vehicles are not concealed or something and even a blind person will not miss them (since he will bump into them - they are so conspicuous), and this is not the exhaustive list given here - hence no sweat
