Pakistan’s Sindh Province Submerged By Monsoon Rains
According to paper, the drain breach flooded fields of cotton, rice, tomatoes, onions, and chilies that were ready to harvest. Local farmers had anticipated a bumper cotton crop, which is now lost. Because many farmers use the income from one harvest to invest in the next crop (wheat), the flooding could hamper that crop as well.

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite captured these images on August 18, 2011 (top), and July 17, 2011 (bottom). The images show the Pakistan coast near the border with India, and both scenes use a combination of visible and infrared light to better distinguish between water and land. Water ranges from electric blue to navy. Vegetation is green. Bare ground is pink-beige. Clouds are pale blue-green.

Because Pakistan receives most of its rainfall between July and September, some of the differences between these images are typical seasonal changes. The Rann of Kachchh (or Kutch) near the Pakistan-India border, for instance, transforms from salt desert to salt marsh annually. Nevertheless, the large swaths of standing water around Badin in August are unusual.

Indian water causes breaches in Pakistan
Torrential monsoon rain in Pakistan and water released by India into Pakistani rivers has led to breaches in various dykes in some areas of Punjab and Sindh, inundating several thousand acres of cultivable land and standing crops.

Karachi The president of the Jeay Sindh Tehreek (JST), Dr Safdar Sarki, has said bloodshed in the city has diverted attention from the devastation caused by floods in the interior of Sindh.

Don't take tensaan yaar. We should celebrate this news. I thought the hindu fundamentalists of India were holding back water from Pakistan. Luckily the forces of Aman ki Asha are winning and we are giving the Pakhanis their water.

Never forget the genocidal atrocities carried out by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan  .

From 40 years ago to the month:
Pakistan: The Ravaging of Golden Bengal

Monday, Aug. 02, 1971

OVER the rivers and down the highways and along countless jungle paths, the population of East Pakistan continues to hemorrhage into India: an endless unorganized flow of refugees with a few tin kettles, cardboard boxes and ragged clothes piled on their heads, carrying their sick children and their old. They pad along barefooted, with the mud sucking at their heels in the wet parts. They are silent, except for a child whimpering now and then, but their faces tell the story. Many are sick and covered with sores. Others have cholera, and when they die by the roadside there is no one to bury them. The Hindus, when they can, put a hot coal in the mouths of their dead or singe the body in lieu of cremation. The dogs, the vultures and the crows do the rest. As the refugees pass the rotting corpses, some put pieces of cloth over their noses.

The column pushing into India never ends, day or night. It has been four months since civil war broke out between East and West Pakistan, and the refugees still pour in. No one can count them precisely, but Indian officials, by projecting camp registrations, calculate that they come at the rate of 50,000 a day. Last week the estimated total passed the 7,500,000 mark. Should widespread famine hit East Pakistan, as now seems likely, India fears that the number may double before the exodus ends. …………………………….

Osama raid left deep imprint on Pak armed forces: Crore Commander
The American raid that killed Al Qaeda [ Images ] chief Osama bin Laden [ Images ] in May has left a "very deep imprint" on Pakistan and its armed forces, which had never considered the United States as a "direct threat", Defence Secretary Syed Athar Ali said on Saturday.

Ali, a retired lieutenant general, made the remarks while deposing before the inquiry commission probing the US raid and bin Laden's presence in the country.

He said no government department, the Defence Ministry, the Joint Staff Headquarters or any military service "has ever considered the US or Afghanistan as a direct threat".

The Pakistani armed forces "are now better prepared to respond to any" recurrence of incident and adequate safeguards have been put in place, he said.
Hope Unkil or Bharat calls the bluff about TSPA being prepared for any recurrence...

Poor Pakistan, so far from Allah, so near to America

US troops may stay in Afghanistan until 2024
The agreement would allow not only military trainers to stay to build up the Afghan army and police, but also American special forces soldiers and air power to remain.

Frankly let me state what is beginning to worry me more and more. Pakistan came out of the same building blocks as India, with Islam added. But Pakistanis are such dundering idiots. Is idiocy Islamic or is it Indian? I mean just look at what this nicompoop is saying.

"Pakistanis saw no threat from the USA". Flipping heck how idiotic can a Paki general be? Pakis were continuously attacking US interests and they thought the US was too stupid to hit back? I tell ya this worries me deeply. It's all very well to blame Djinnah, Iqbal, Maududi and islam. But if these guys are "just like us" we are doomed. We will not recognize a threat even after it bites a huge chunk off our backsides.

X Posted from the Pakistan Arms Sales, Ops, Doctrine etc thread

Always good to remember that the Army of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan sanctified by its motto of “Iman Taqwa Jihad fi Sabilillah” or “Faith, Piety and Jihad in the Path of Allah”, are nothing but the uniform wearing branch of global Islamic terrorist Jihadism.

Excerpt from a Herald article titled “Islam in the garrison”:
Islam in the garrison

Posted on August 16, 2011 by Umer Farooq

On March 16, 2004, the Pakistan Army launched its first operation in South Waziristan tribal agency to weed out al-Qaeda and Taliban elements who had crossed into Pakistan after coming under American attacks in Afghanistan. General Pervez Musharraf, the then Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and the ruler of the country, held a series of meetings with his top commanders in the run-up to the operation and repeatedly asked them a single question. “Do you see any kind of reluctance among your soldiers to fire at the militants?” a participant of these meetings quotes him as asking. “He was visibly worried. He wanted to be dead sure that he did not face any backlash from within the army as he sent it into the tribal areas,” says a retired military officer who worked closely with Musharraf during his tenure in the government.

The commanding officers told their chief that their men were all set to strike the militants. What transpired during the operation, however, must have surprised many of them. As the militants offered tough resistance to the Pakistan Army, in some cases paramilitary troops and army soldiers surrendered without a fight apparently in response to the calls from religious leaders in the tribal areas that the operation was meant for killing their own “Muslim brethren”. …………………………

Venom-spewing Pak TV channels must be duly penalised: Editorial
Islamabad, Aug.20

Pakistani society is fast becoming radicalised and intolerant, and some television programmes are making things worse by launching hate campaigns, an editorial in a Pakistani newspaper has said, adding that such venom-spewing channels must be duly penalised.

Apparently, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's speech on August 13 at a South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) seminar, wherein he talked about peace and economic ties with India, riled up quite a few people, the Daily Times editorial noted.

"A private television channel aired programmes on two consecutive days hosted by a certain female anchor who is well known for hate speech and inciting violence. The said host and some of her guests launched a diatribe against SAFMA," it said.

One of the panellists, Zaid Hamid, described correctly as a "so-called analyst", accused SAFMA of being funded by Indian intelligence agency RAW and to be pursuing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bal Thackeray's agenda," it added. The said programme was not just full of baseless allegations against SAFMA, but also featured content full of anti-India and anti-Hindu rhetoric.

"Hate-mongering based on religious differences should not be allowed to be aired on our television channels. There seems to be no sense of responsibility in our media, especially the electronic media, when it comes to jingoism and hate speech," said the editorial.

It pointed out that while SAFMA is well within its right to take legal recourse against the concerned accusers, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) should have taken notice of the content of the programme.

"In the past we have seen that a popular televangelist's fatwa (religious edict) against the Ahmediyya community led to the deaths of a few innocent people. Had timely action been taken against the said televangelist, others would have been restrained from indulging in such abuse," the editorial stated.

"Those who are using our airwaves to spew venom should be duly penalised. Pakistani society is fast becoming radicalised and intolerant, and such programmes make things worse. Pakistan's media might be relatively free but this does not give our media license to abuse these freedoms," it maintained.

I guess the good general meant that adequate supplies of brown uniforms and fast getaway jinga taxis have been ordered and Zardari op-eds have been pre-written and spell/grammar corrected. I mean poor Zardari had to stay up all night with his English tutor and rack his brains for fresh lies to put in the article which Hussain Haqqani then had to ghost write within 30 minutes - US should have some pity before inflicting such strenuous late minute home work assignment on their true allies!

I don't know about Iqbal but Jinnah saheb never observed Ramadan. He offered a luncheon meeting with Mountbatten during Ramadan until others around him stopped that. Of course, we know about his other un-Islamic habits and practices too.

But, this Gandhian methodology is totally unIslamic as Pakistan-pasand Deobandi scholars like the Usmani brothers so eloquently argued in the 1940s. They said that the Prophet founded his Islamic nation on bloodshed and not ahimsa as the Hindu Mahatma Gandhi was doing at that time and so they could not be part of that struggle or of a nation born out of that process. Such thoughts permeate Pakistan even today when they think that only violence gets benefits and only Muslims are good at it while non-Muslims are passive. So, these Gandhian Pakistanis are eminently wajib-ul-qatl.

There appears to be a disconnect here.

The acceptance of the legitimacy of violence on grounds that it religiously sanctioned and the short shrift given to non-violence by the pair of Mohammadden theologians leads me to wonder how Pakistani’s and indeed other followers of Mohamaddenism can claim that theirs is a "Religion of Peace".

Arun, it is all relative and maya. Who stops one from saying Vladivostok is -20° F hot as opposed to somebody else saying -20°F cold ? There are certain accepted norms that generally people follow the world over. Certain people set the bar higher or lower than such generally accepted principles and practices of humankind. We cannot blame them, can we, so long as they don't harm us ?

Within Pakistan itself, it therefore leads to questions like 'Who is a shaheed ?' or 'Who is a true Muslim' etc. The contradictions are apparent along the same Vladivostok analogy.

Gen. Mirza Aslam Beg's dire prediction
Kashmir.
The people of Kashmir have been deprived of their ‘right of self determination’ and their struggle, now has reached a point of decision. It cannot be ignored any more, as President Obama preferred to, under the Indian pressure. It is no more a back-burner issue, because, after the exit of the occupation forces from Afghanistan, Kashmiris struggle for freedom will heat-up and may well explode into the Indian face. If we fail to find a political solution soon enough, peace in South Asia, will remain hostage to Kashmir.

Attacks kill 2 soldiers in northwest Pakistan
Militants carried out a series of attacks against soldiers in Pakistan's rugged tribal region along the Afghan border Sunday, killing two troops and wounding more than a dozen others, intelligence officials said.

The attacks took place in the North and South Waziristan tribal areas, both of which are strongholds for Pakistani Taliban fighters who have waged a deadly war against the government. The region is also home to militants who stage cross-border attacks against U.S. troops in neighboring Afghanistan.

Shiv, you've got me worried too.If the Chinese also think that Pakis and Indians are of the same "stupid" stock, and Yindians can be manipulated and treated as serfs, just as Pakis are, then we are indeed doomed.Right now,the geriatrics in power (....sorry,"in office, not in power"!) look as if they could very well have been imports from across the border.
