Why is the general taking a high moral stand now? 20/20 effect?

GenBeg is a highly controversial mohajir general, with alleged involvement in Zia's death and the Mehran Bank scandal. Beg was Zia's chief of general staff (1980-85) during the Afghan-mujaheddin war. He and other generals like him have relentlessly crowed about the paki role in dismembering the Soviet Union. In that position, he must have been deeply involved in planning and executing pa'astan's interference in Afghanistan with the jehadis and the mujaheddins. During that war, as a broker, he must have pilfered a chunk of change for his personal benefit. The above article contradicts his earlier stance.

The old man writes like the nincompoop that he is - but there are some mild piskologically interesting points. The man can't be serious if he can write this and think that the gaping holes in his story will not be picked out
Pakistan earned the distinction of being the ‘Most Allied Ally’ and the ‘Non-NATO Ally,’ and also enjoyed the blessings of strategic partnership
..hmm. The man speaks of the alliance as an "honor" or "distinction". See the piskology here? You see, if I ally with you and if yo are "honored by that it is is already a slave-master relationship. You, the dog, is "honored" by me, the master caling you an ally and unless you obey - you will be punished. This is hardly a give and take relationship and the senile general admits that in the first paragraph. So why complain when they got buggered?
Pakistan would definitely help, provided the terms of engagement are clearly defined,
:rotfl: The terms were always clearly defined.

Necessarily, the new terms of engagement must lead to an enduring strategic partnership, founded upon an ‘institutionalised mutual cooperation mechanism,’ to secure regional stability and a stable and prosperous future for Pakistan.
I can't stop laughing. "Make Pakistan rich" is what the man says to the Americans!
Sovereign Equality. There must be respect and realisation of sovereignty of Pakistan, which has been wanting since 1960,
LOL! The man begs for equality when Pakistan has willingly assumed the position of a slave or the pasive partner in a homosexual relationship and has not done its job
Pakistanis, as a nation do not relish hegemony,
OK Ok fine so what's the soultion? It's right there in the next para..
Now the Americans want to establish Indian hegemony over the region, from Afghanistan to Sri Lanka and reduce Pakistan to a client state. This will never happen, because the Pakistani people love freedom,
There Pakistani will remain free - so what's the problem? American may want to impose Martian hegemony on Pakistan,. but so long as Pakistanis don't accept it why worry?
Simply follow the Chinese example, who do not meddle into the internal affairs of others,
:D The man is senile alright
an exit from Afghanistan has to be carried out, on the basis of three principles: One. It is the winner, the Taliban, who must be allowed to lay down the terms for peace in Afghanistan. Two. The neighbouring countries, particularly Pakistan that has suffered the most, as a result of foreign aggression in Afghanistan, must be on-board, to workout the mechanism for transfer of power, and reconstruction of Afghanistan.
:D

This entire article is exactly how some recent American article summed up the way Pakis talk to Americans. I wish I could find that now - not the Teresita Schaffer one - some other one.

Scions of the upper crust of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan peddle their being Oh so cool and with it to an increasingly sceptical global audience who have seen under the burqa and come to realise that a liberal Pakistan is nothing more than a convenient lie created by Jinnah to enable the Pakistani elite not to considered unwanted guests abroad:
Young Pakistanis turn to music to beat bombers

Published on 21 August 2011 - 3:32am

Against a backdrop of militant bombs and bullets, wealthy young Pakistanis are turning to the beat of modern music to help bring social change to their troubled Muslim nation.

"I love how when you enter the place, you're completely transformed," said DJ Faisal Big at a recent all-night rave in a brick factory courtesy of London's Ministry of Sound.

"It doesn't feel like Pakistan -- definitely not the Pakistan you see on the media."

The one-off Ministry of Sound event cost $100 dollars, an expensive night out in the impoverished country -- but the mini-revolution has spread far beyond the brick factory doors.

Organisers persuaded the famous London nightclub, billed as the home of dance music and celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, to send over a DJ to lead a club for one night only.

The youth music scene in a deeply conservative Islamic state, dogged by deadly Taliban and Al-Qaeda attacks, is opening up to new influences -- offering anger-release and a space for political expression. ………………………

Mirza Aslam Beg can try. The LoC is heavily protected. But India is going to buy up all the Taliban who would become unemployed in Afghanistan, to hammer Pakistani Army so much, that the Pakis would be begging India for mercy!

If Pakistan opens the Kashmir front, India will make Pakis pay a heavy price on the Durand Line!

Full of beliefs and empty of religion
Ha!! Or, overly religious. Take your pick after you read the full version. But, here's a piece that got my attention:
Khalil Gibran:“Pity the nation whose leaders are liars, whose sages are silent and whose bigots rule the airwaves.” There can scarcely be a more accurate portrayal of contemporary Pakistan.
What can you say about a nation whose bigoted leaders are its sages (of the past and the present)?

Shiv, but you didn't read Kiya Nahi's statement? "........that the rangers and police can manage!" Keeping his powder dry? or running out of powder?

Famous last words:
But he also said the police and paramilitary would, if properly deployed, be able to stem the unrest.

Krachi Rangers are doing an admirable job of keeping the score board ticking and setting up a platform for a strong finish after the mandatory power-play. It remains to be seen if the opposition bowlers can knock off the Krachi Rangers and bolis and force the talismanic Pak Fauj to come in early against the seaming and bouncing ball. I sincerely hope to see the Pak Fauj get in early and sets the field alight with scorching stroke-play as Pak Fauj is at the twilight of its career and will hopefully bow out into the sunset with a stellar performance against a home side on a home pitch.

Why is it so tiresome, Chaudah is very apt/sacred number attached to Poaq destiny since 47.
Pakistan was born out of August Chaudha . The the act of founding Pakistan was Laid Down by MOBIN Qasim on the night of first Chaudha, Hijri 6x3=18x4= 72.

From http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/new ... 688518.cms

NEW DELHI: Pakistani companies may soon be able to invest in India as the government plans to strike off the country from a negative list that debarred investments from across the border. The symbolic move is not likely to yield fat investments into the country, but offer a political dividend to warm the often-frosty ties between the two neighbours.

"When we can allow investments from China, there is no reason to block Pakistan," a senior official told ET. "We can regulate the investments that come."

...
Pakistan is the only entry in the negative list under the Foreign Exchange Management Act. The government had deleted Sri Lanka in 2006 and Bangladesh in 2007 from the list.

The ministries of finance and commerce are now examining the feasibility of removing Pakistan from the list.

"There cannot be a better gesture in the realms of economic cooperation," said Ram Upendra Das, senior fellow at Delhi-based think-tank Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS). "There is a very strong case for it as there are consumption complementarities, production complementarities."

Pakistan may also allow investments from India on a case-by-case basis.

"Both countries realise that opening investments will not necessarily result in a flood of investments," the official quoted earlier said.

Wonder if the senior official would have said the same thing if their son had been blown into pieces by a bomb placed by non-uniformed paki army soldiers, like many innocents have been to date.

Right now, 100s of crores of paki filthy money flows in and out of India in the underground sector, this just brings it up above the surface. This can be regulated, scrutinized and taxed.

Also, at times of 'stress', this can be squeezed - and in times of peace, this can be used to create a constituency in that hell-hole that can legitimately espouse Indian interests (within context of course) - given there will be legitimate interests for a slice of the Rapes to protect.

On the whole, i do share your distaste for accepting money from these lepers.

Indian water  submerges more Kasur villages

http://nation.com.pk/pakistan-news-news ... r-villages
LAHORE (Agencies) - India on Sunday released more water in River Sutlej submerging dozens of villages in Ganda Singhwala area of Kasur.
According to Federal Flood Commission (FFC), flash flood of 57,000 cusec of water in River Sutlej at Ganda Singhwala in Kasur gushed through submerging several villages.
The water discharged from Indian side increased the water level to 18.5 feet at Kakar Post, while 57,000 cusec strong flash flood was passing through. The flood marooned several villages including Ganda Singhwala, Mahiwala and Pattan severing ground contacts of these areas with the outside world. The Rescue 1122 staff were shifting the trapped people at Poni to safer places.
On Tuesday, India spilled more than 70,000 cusecs of additional water into River Sutlej without prior information to Pakistani authorities, inundating dozens of villages in Ganda Singhwala area of Kasur district.Water experts said that New Delhi, in sheer violation of the Indus Water Treaty, released more than 70,000 cusecs of water into River Sutlej at Pakistani side which mounted its level to an alarming level and washed away dozens of villages in Kasur after creating an emergency flood situation in the entire area. “The water level in River Sutlej is speedily mounting up as more water is coming from the Indian side. The Pakistani authorities have set up flood camps in the endangered areas of Kasur to overcome any possible mishap,” a Punjab government official said.Meanwhile, a 50 feet wide new breach emerging in the Imamwah Canal of Tando Ghulam Ali inundated more than 24 villages in district Badin on Sunday.

US soldiers enter Peshawar forcefully
( O bhai ,enter gently karo, agge se jaa peeche se, uppar se ,ja neeche se , daiye sei , jaa baaaaanyye se . Ay Bhai ...)

http://nation.com.pk/pakistan-news-news ... forcefully
PESHAWAR - In another blatant violation of Pakistani law, the US military officials in two vehicles entered the provincial capital without any no objection certificate (NOC) and broke police blockade on motorway toll plaza here on Sunday.
Sources said that two US vehicle bearing registration number SV-754 and SV-316 were on their way to Peshawar from Islamabad when police flagged down but they sped up their vehicle to crush police personnel. However policemen narrowly escaped while both the vehicles broke the police blockade and later entered the US consulate in Peshawar.
The boarded officials were identified as Colonel Stick, Colonel Paul Robert, Lieutenant Justin and another person Stg Johnlee. All of them were US personnel and entered the city forcefully without any security clearance. The sources added these US citizens had taken refuge in US Consulate.
It is worth mentioning here that several times the US official attempted to enter Peshawar without required documents but they were returned to Islamabad.

Anna Hazare and the Indian Spring
http://nation.com.pk/pakistan-news-news ... ian-Spring

,
enters Hazare…….an old man with a spirit of a tiger, shaking the very foundation of the Indian house of cards built on rampant corruption, injustice, and inhuman cast system. Can the downtrodden and suppressed Naxals, Dalits, Muslims, Sikhs, and members of the civil society hold his wrinkled hand and march to New Delhi for a final showsdown with the flag bearers of the most corrupt system in the world? This is a million dollar question.
Undoubtedly, Hazare’s movement is picking up the
momentum. If you closely watch his videos on YouTube and other social networks, invariably his messages are followed by revolutionary poetry, especially Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s famous poem “Hum Dekhen Gay” has become very popular with the call for the time, “when the mightiest rulers are dethroned and their crowns are tossed in the air.” Incidentally, South Asia (fed up with the scourge of corruption) is gazing at the horizon for the advent of a messiah, who could liberate the masses from the clutches of corruption and usher in an era of true democracy. If Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption struggle succeeds in India, it may become a catalyst for positive change within the region. Maybe history honours the old man with the title of the biggest anti-corruption jihadist of our times?

I dont understand this cusec thingy. So how long the whole thing last? Now is this 57000 cusecs in addition to the 70000 cusecs released on tuesday? So are we to believe right now 127000 cusecs of water flowing out of INDIA. So what is total (in gallons) water that India dumped till now? Only maths wizards can answer this.

I am no maths wiz but cusec is cubic feet per second. Multiply the number by the number of seconds. Pakistan needs that water - they are a dry country.

saip, hold on for your calculations because more water will flow. Water-level in major North Indian dams reaching maximum limit and more rain is forecast.
The level in Pong Dam is 1,387.48 feet against the maximum limit of 1,390 feet; while it touched 518.69 feet in Ranjit Sagar Dam, where its capacity is 520.94 feet.

The Bhakra dam saw the level touch 1,667.35 feet against the limit of 1,680 feet, an official spokesperson said on Sunday.

Water has also been discharged from the Pong dam in Beas and Satluj rivers, the spokesperson said.
For your help, 1 Cusec = 1 cubic foot per second or 28.317 Litres (L) per second or 0.646 mgd (million gallons per day).

India using 9/11 as an excuse for stirring up trouble in Balochistan - JuD Chief Prof. Hafeez Saeed saheb
Jama'at-ud-Da'wah (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed on Sunday said the only issue he had with New Delhi was related to Kashmir and reiterated that terrorism was “un-Islamic”. In an exclusive interview to Geo News , a Karachi-based news channel, he charged India with using 9/11 as a pretext to enter Afghanistan and use its territory to stir trouble in Balochistan.

Mr. Saeed said he favoured the resolution of the Kashmir issue through dialogue, but that New Delhi had time and again displayed its unwillingess to resolve the matter under any circumstances.

“Our issue with India is specific to Kashmir and the way it has treated the Kashmiri people. From the Kashmir issue stems the water problems facing Pakistan and the construction of dams by India on rivers running into Pakistan. And, we speak openly against it,” the JuD chief said. He said the world recognised Kashmir to be a flashpoint.

‘Unfair'

In the midst of appealing to the United Nations yet again against sanctions on his organisation, Mr. Saeed said it was unfair to impose sanctions on it without giving it a chance to defend itself. “This is against the basic tenets of justice,” he said, pointing out that the Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan had cleared his name after he was arrested on the basis of dossiers presented by India.

Maintaining that there could be no justification for terrorism — be it against India, the U.S. or any other country — he was also critical of those forces which were trying to divide Muslims by describing one group or the other as apostates. He also denied the charge that the JuD had links with Al Qaeda and said the only reason he had offered funeral prayers for Osama bin Laden after his killing was because of his burial at sea.

Propaganda

The charge of being the ‘B-team' of the Army, the JuD chief described as being part of the propaganda against him, as was the oft-repeated claim that his charitable institutions were being used as a recruiting ground for terrorists. About his source of funds, he said every rupee was generated from within the country through donations; and denied that the JuD got any money from either overseas or institutions in Pakistan.
Addressing the Lahore Press Club on February 18, 1996 LeT Amir Prof. Hafeez Saeed said: "The jehad in Kashmir would soon spread to entire India. Our Mujahideen would create three Pakistans in India.’’ In an interview to Takbeer of Pakistan (October 9, 1997), he said: "We feel that Kashmir should be liberated at the earliest. Thereafter, Indian Muslims should be aroused to rise in revolt against the Indian Union so that India gets disintegrated.’’ The same venerable and peaceful Professor saheb said in November 1999, ‘The Jihad is not about Kashmir only. It encompasses all of India. Today I announce the break-up of India, Inshallah. We will not rest until the whole of India is dissolved into Pakistan’. A month later, he told Urdu daily Ausaf in an interview "Kashmir is only our base camp. The real war will be inside India as we consider Himachal Pradesh as the door to jehad in India. Very soon we will enter India via Doda and unfurl the Islamic flag on Red Fort’’. “Today, INSHALLAH, I announce the break-up of India. We will not rest until the whole of India is dissolved into Pakistan.” thundered Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, the patron of the LeT at a giant November 1999 rally organised by its parent organisation, the Markaz Dawat wal Irshad. In c. 2003, Professor saheb said "the Hindu is a mean enemy and the proper way to deal with him is the one adopted by our forefathers, who crushed them by force. India is, in turn, part of just a global system of oppression that must be overthrown by force." As the Lashkar spokesperson Nazir Ahmad bluntly stated: "through the jihad that the mujahideen have launched in Kashmir, Islam will become dominant all over the world." In an interview to TFT in April 2003, he said, "We must fight against the evil trio: America, Israel and India. The Israeli-Indian defence pact is clearly aimed at taking care of Pakistan. America will not attack Pakistan directly. It will use India to do its dirty work. America has also declared the legitimate freedom struggle in Kashmir a reign of terror. The need for jihad against India is paramount." In Oct. 12, 2007, during a Friday qutbah to worshippers at Jamia Masjid Al Qadsia, Hafiz Saeed Ahmed said that the only way to rid the world of terrorism and usher in lasting peace was to set up an Islamic caliphate

Looks like one of ARY TV's religious programme hosts (Amir Liaquat Husain) is in a spot of trouble, when vids of his pre-editing hijinks started to appear:

Well, this is what he was doing.
During their wide ranging discussions lasting for about two hours, Senator McCain and Vohra

The Governor hosted lunch for Senator McCain and other members of the delegation which comprised Foreign Policy Advisors Christian Brose and Vance Serchuk and US Military Escort Lieutenant Lawrence Heyworth, a Raj Bhavan spokesman said.

The US senator, who lost the US presidential election to Barack Obama, also met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The two leaders discussed matters relating to the socio-economic development and protection of environment, an official spokesman said.
It is up to us to interpret the meaning.
An earlier report from Dec 06, 2008: New US management will respect Pakistan sovereignty: McCain
ISLAMABAD: Democratic presidential candidate in the recent US elections and US senator John McCain has said that America’s new management would respect the sovereignty of Pakistan.

He said this during a meeting with prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here on Saturday.

On this occasion, senator McCain also said that the Pressler amendment was a blunder.

He said that during his presidential campaign, he had opposed the violation of Pakistan borders.

Regarding Mumbai carnage, Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan had offered India the setting up a joint commission.

The prime minister reiterated his resolve that the Pakistan territory would not be allowed to be used for terrorism.
Either the Senator is too diplomatic, or he is very pro-Pakistani!

But, claiming the Pressler Amendment as a blunder means that he either does not know the truth or he is playing to the Pakistani gallery or he is a subtle anti-Pakistani or very politely diplomatic as you say. The Pressler act was tabled after its approval by Pakistan and was indeed made into law to enable Pakistan's nuclear programme. However, Pakistan continues to flog this Law to put the US into a corner. It also helps to drum up anti-US sentiments within Pakistan when the civilian government conjures up the image of how much the US has been against a Muslim Pakistan getting nuclear weapons and technology. The US, just like a thief stung by the scorpion while in the act of thieving, is unable to admit that the Pressler Amendment actually helped Pakistan acquire nuclear weapons. It is unable to refute the allegation that Pakistan was singled out by the US. So, its leaders actually go along with the Pakistani description hoping that their very act of acquiescence would soften Pakistani attitude, lower its decibels and improve the US image among the Abduls as a fair country willing to accept its guilt. I wonder what the US interlocutors (who know the real story) would be telling the Pakistani leaders in private though.

Pak fantasies:
http://app.com.pk/en_/index.php?option= ... 7&Itemid=2
housands of Indian nationals are finding employments as menial workers to serve the American soldiers living within the base camps in Afghanistan through fly-by-night operations undertaken by contractors hired by the US Army, say informed sources. Performing the jobs of cooks, sweepers, laundrymen and barbers to maintain the US military personnel, these Indians are hired under the promises of exorbitant remunerations but come face to face with the stark reality once they land within the barbed wired compounds of US camps and are forced to survive in subhuman conditions.
