By the by, speaking of Pushtoons, Afghans and such, here is a story to first make you go  and then :rotfl:

DADT (Afghanistan Edition)
And, the impact of those experiences is already being felt in portions of Afghanistan, putting American forces squarely in the middle of complex moral, social and sexual issues. A source at Army Special Operations command tells In From the Cold that Afghan women, emboldened by the presence of U.S. troops. have complained about beatings they've suffered at the hands of their husbands. The domestic violence reportedly stemmed from the inability of the women to become pregnant and produce sons, highly valued in Afghan society.

When U.S. civil affairs teams (and other special forces units) quietly investigated the problem, they quickly discovered a common denominator. Virtually all of the younger men who beat their wives (over their inability to become pregnant) had been former "apprentices" of older Afghan men, who used them for their sexual pleasure. Upon entering marriage, whatever the men knew of sex had been learned during their "apprenticeship," at the hands of the older man. To put it bluntly, some of the younger Afghans were unfamiliar with the desired (and required) mechanics for conception. {GUBO can lead to such problems!}

To remedy this situation, the Army called in its psychological operations teams, which developed information campaigns in Pashtun areas, explaining the basics of heterosexual relations and their benefits, in terms of producing male offspring. It may be the only time in the history of warfare that an army has been required to explain sex to the native population, to curb the abuse of women and young boys--and retain U.S. influence in key geographic areas.

^^^ :rotfl: That is so wrong! Does it mean that all wife beaters (most of the Pakis as well) had GUBO masters when they were young?

Also wondering, even as a kid I did not have any difficulty in figuring out the "mechanism of conception" :rotfl: I wonder what they do they discover that the begums dont have mijjiles? Do the bend over first and expect to get the same apprenticeship? Cognitive dissonance ensues?

I also petition that the phrase "Afghan-Apprenticeship" should go in the BRF dictionary :rotfl:

Example usage: The Jernails of Pakhanastan should get some Afghan-Apprenticeship :) to set them straight.

^^^^ What is sad is that, ultimately, it's their wimmins who seem to get harassed no matter what. First of all, an ahem ahem where the sun don't shine, and then beaten for not getting pregnent. By no less than a former/current gay/pedophile bugger. Remember, Islam was the first religion to give rights to women  And these are the mighty Pushtoon warriors who great empires fear :rotfl:

A Tantrum Too Far
December 14, 2011: The Pakistani military wants some respect. Actually it wants a lot of respect and wants Pakistanis to stop saying mean things about the generals and their pampered officers. It's been a bad year for the military's image. The biggest disaster was the American raid in May, where U.S. commandos landed at a compound not far from the Pakistani military college and killed Osama bin Laden
The Pakistani generals are threatening another coup if Pakistani politicians and voters don't deliver more support for the military. Many Pakistanis lined up behind the generals like they used to. Yet there is growing popular opposition to the generals, who have become a privileged caste. The military justifies all their privileges and immunities on the need to defend the nation from the threat of Indian invasion. But India has never been interested in invading. This is an invention of the Pakistani military, which would not do so well economically and politically without a major external threat. This has been a political scam of enormous proportions, and more Pakistanis are becoming aware of it. The generals are worried, which is why there are a growing number of rumors in Pakistan about another military takeover.

^^^ Well, the Paki army appears to be defying the Khan, hence the lull. My theory is that the Pushtoons in the NWFP, trained to hate kaffirs and fight them based on medival Islam and Pushtoonwali are an immovable object. Khan is an unstoppable force. Paki army is the go between, trying to have halva and eat it too, but when an unstoppable force meets an unmovable object, last place you want to be is in the middle. When Paki army is trying to have it both ways, Pushtoons were hitting back. If Paki army appears to be on their side, then they will perhaps stop, but then it should be the Khan to hit the Paki army. Which they did in a small way recently. One hopes against hope that much bigger economic and military hits will follow if Paki army continues to defy. If Paki army gubos, then we hope that the pushtoons aka tellibunnies will start doing the needful. So far in 2011, each month has had one or another echandee blasting event for the porkis. Here's to that trend continuing and getting even more spectacular in 2012!

Brad, I would put it down to the successful elimination of the two Qaris. One was Qari Hussain Mehsud, the Ustaad for suicide bombers who was killed in October 2010 and the other was Qari Mohammed Zafar of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, who was killed in February 2010. The two Qaris worked in close coordination. One produced suicide bombers, made the suicide vests and the other chose the targets, planned the attacks and provided logistics. Both were eliminated by CIA drones. So much for the Pakistani hatred for the drones.

The silver lining is that the LeJ is again becoming quite active after the release of its Amir and a few others.

Sexual abuse of Pashtun women in IDP camps
women in camps were forced to have sexual intercourse in exchange for food and non-food items. Girls and widows were at greater risk. “A security officer forced me to have sex in exchange for cooking oil and pulses when I was collecting food at the main entrance of the camp,” a 22-year-old woman Nighat from the Jalozai Camp is quoted as telling the discussion group. The report claims that there was an increase in honour killings in which women were first raped and since the rape was considered a disgrace to the family, they were later murdered.

Kashmala Bibi says her cousin’s breasts were cut into pieces when five militants walked into their house and saw the woman breastfeeding her child. One of the insurgents then asked the other women around to eat the pieces.

Pakistan
Politics Takes Toll On Pakistani Truckers
"As a feud between the Pakistani government and Washington continues, private truck drivers find themselves stuck in traffic.
Truckers say they are accumulating huge financial losses and live in fear of militant attacks as they sit stranded in Pakistan, unable to travel on to deliver their goods across the border to Afghanistan. The private haulers, who carry almost half of all cargo bound for the 140,000 foreign troops in land-locked Afghanistan, can only wait out the latest rift between Pakistan and the United States.
Their plight was prompted by the Pakistani government's decision this week to close key supply routes to NATO traffic following air strikes that killed at least 24 soldiers at two remote border posts in the tribal district of Mohmand, near the Afghan border.
Shah Faisal, a truck driver, says that the fallout from the incident has created widespread uncertainty. "We have to pay the installments on our vehicles, we have to pay salaries, and we have to support our families," he says. "Now we are thinking whether this business will start again or not and what will happen to our business."
Keetab, a trailer driver who only gives his first name, says many of the stranded Pakistani drivers fear their vehicles may be targeted by militants, who have attacked NATO's convoys in the past......."

Maharaja Sher Singh's baradari in Lahore becomes 'waste dump'
According to historian Surinder Kochhar, there was a tomb of Maharaja Sher Singh which also remains neglected and had become a place of shelter for stray dogs and cats.

He said Maharaja Sher Singh was shot dead here by Ajit Singh, a relative of the Maharaja. He said even the bullet marks have been erased, which was unfortunate. Keeping in view the historical significance of Baradari, which was also known as Baradari of Shah Belowal, a Sufi saint, Kochhar said concerned Sikh bodies should impress upon Pakistan government about the need to preserve the Baradari.

Well from a pisko viewpoint its not just about good looks, but about showing interest and telling the woman you are interested. Women too have their secret wishes and disappointments. Some might feel that they were not good enough . The male who shows them attention will win some gratitude from them, if not their heart.

A chap who had the nickname "rat" in our college was seen with a girlfriend from another college after 2 days of a 3 day intercollegiate festival. The hunks and "stud-machaans" asked him "How? Why you?" He said. You morons go for the best looking ones who can get anyone and run after their teachers. I go for the ordinary one who will come instantly.

Here is an editorial in the influential US Investor Business Daily, which should quickly cause our good ol' Bill Keller of the NY Times to throw up into his embroidered bib, that very strong Pindi Egg Benedict that is still very slowly making its way down the Keller duodenum:

U.S. Aid To Pakistan Endangered By Gov't Ties To Bombers
War On Terror: The jig may finally be up for Pakistan. Our "ally" has been caught in another double cross. And for the first time, there's a real chance Congress could cut off its aid.

New U.S. intelligence reveals that most of the material used to make improvised explosive devices used against our troops in Afghanistan originates from two fertilizer factories inside Pakistan.

The Pakistani plants — owned by one of the country's largest companies, Pakarab — have been making more than 300,000 metric tons of ammonium nitrate a year since 2004. The chemical has been traced to more than 80% of the homemade bombs used in Afghanistan to kill American and other coalition soldiers.

This summer alone, U.S. troops detected or were hit by 5,088 IEDs — the most for any three months since the Afghan war began in 2001. Those bombs killed 63 troops and wounded more than 1,200.

The chemical has been trucked to bomb factories inside Pakistan under the protection of Pakistani military intelligence, which the Pentagon says is running a "proxy war" against the U.S. Or it's been smuggled across the Afghan border on trucks, motorcycles, bikes, even donkey carts with the help of Pakistani guards.

Based on these reports, leaders of the House and Senate armed services committees have agreed to freeze $700 million in aid to Islamabad. Even greater cuts may be in store if Pakistan doesn't stop what it's doing.

Washington wants "assurances that Pakistan is countering (IEDs) in their country that are targeting our coalition forces," says Rep. Buck McKeon, R-Calif., chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. Sen. John McCain, top Republican on the Senate armed services panel, called for "substantial reductions in aid."

Pulling the plug on Pakistan aid is something we've advocated for years. Islamabad has cost us $20 billion over the past 10 years — Pakistan is one of the largest recipients of U.S. foreign aid — and yet we have little to show for it. In fact, there is evidence some of our "counterterrorism" funds have been diverted to terrorism.

Pakistan hasn't just attacked the U.S. indirectly, through the insurgents it trains and arms, but also directly. Several times over the past year alone — while U.S. aid kept flowing with virtually no strings attached — Pakistani military units fired shots at American troops near the Afghan border.

They've fired hundreds of rockets across the border, as well. In September, U.S. Apache helicopter crews were fired upon by Pakistan.

Washington tried to cover up or downplay these attacks — including even the ambush and murder of an Army major — to protect misguided policy.

But now a fed-up military has reached out to McKeon, McCain and others in Congress to protect the troops.

It's about time. No more blank checks for Pakistan.

Now, it make sense why Imran was talking of "Mian saan...jaane do" and Mian saab was hell bent on knowing NRO details as unkil singed off on making exception for BB and so could be for him . No wonder Imran is jumping up and down and saying I can your gilani and you can be my NoKiya.

Is she really a serious professor tweeting such supercilious stuff. At this rate, even Michelle Bachman and Sarah Palin with far less brains will be taken more seriously than unfair.

Now coming to her tweet, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but cuisine? Give me a f!king break. In my travels both in US & Europe, I have learnt from experience to never go to a TSP restaurant even if it has an Indian name. Their food sucks for me at least, and I am speaking objectively. Maybe its because I am an SDRE veggies and don't eat meat delicacies, but Paki veg dishes suck big time. Not to mention that I would never go to a TSP joint in the first place given that by definition the Paki owner could be pigLeT when it comes to India.

That sure speaks a lot about her likeness for hair and beards..…..I mean a lot of smelly hair soaked in sweat for at least a week (pukis bath only on Fridays) which she might be confusing and associating with culinary things. Prognosis for Pakistan: 2012 - Sushant Sareen, IDSA
The front runners in the next general election are Nawaz Sharif’s PMLN and Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf. The army is however extremely uncomfortable at the prospect of Nawaz Sharif becoming Prime Minister and it considers Imran Khan a bit of a maverick (and an untested one at that). Both Nawaz and Imran are likely to resist the army’s interference in politics and policy making. But the next in line – Shahbaz Sharif in PMLN and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in PTI – are entirely acceptable to the army. There is therefore a strong possibility of 2012 being the year of political assassinations. Whichever of the two parties – PMLN or PTI – finds favour with the ‘establishment’, the top leaders of these parties – Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan – are unlikely to head the next government. While an assassination could tilt the election result in favour of one of the two parties, neither is expected to get a simple majority in the National Assembly.
Very grim indeed. That would be all the more reason for it to be increasingly reckless. The intentions of PRC are less than honest here and poor Pakistan does not recognize that. PRC may egg it on along a self-destructive curve (which Pakistan has already chosen for itself) even as it takes all precautions for itself. Any bad news from Pakistan (though it might be good news for us jingos here), has to be viewed in terms of its impact on India because it will invariably be a problem for us. Whether Pakistan thrives or self-destructs, it is our headache. We'd therefore see Pakistan self destruct (given generous external helping hand in the noble task) as the chances of managing the chunks could be better.

THE CALIPHATE OF THE PURE STRIKES BACK

Posted from http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... 1MCKKA.DTL
Islamabad --

Pakistan is planning to tax supplies for U.S.-led coalition troops that are shipped through its territory to landlocked Afghanistan, officials revealed, in retaliation for the recent deaths of its soldiers in a "friendly fire" incident on the border.

Under the proposal being worked up inside the government, which is set to become policy, a transit tax or fee will be imposed on every shipping container sent through Pakistan, according to senior military and civilian officials.

The move will add tens or perhaps hundreds of millions of dollars a year to the cost of the conflict, which is now a decade old. It follows the deaths of 24 Pakistani soldiers at a checkpoint that was shelled by a U.S. helicopter, the latest incident this year to roil the relationship between the antiterrorism allies.

It's thought that the government will levy around $1,500 per shipping container sent through Pakistan, along with separate charges for each fuel tanker en route to Afghanistan. That's equivalent to adding one-third to the costs of transporting a container through Pakistan.

The international coalition in Afghanistan has benefited from the free transit of goods through Pakistan for nearly a decade, under agreements forged with Islamabad soon after the overthrow of the Taliban regime.

Although the coalition purposely has reduced its logistical dependence on Pakistan in the past few years, around a third of its supplies are still trucked through the country, which is the cheapest route to Afghanistan.

The free transit of U.S. and NATO military supplies was allowed under two agreements signed in 2002, when Gen. Pervez Musharraf ruled the country.

"Under the agreement, NATO got to use our transport infrastructure for no cost, but what we got in return, we don't know. It is high time to revisit the agreement," said a senior Pakistani official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity as the new policy hasn't been announced. "The agreement appears to be one-sided." :rotfl:

That Constititional Amendment was resorted to by Musharraf as part of a series of manipulations to sustain himself in absolute power. The overall strategy involved acquiring legitimacy through multiple ways. The first and foremost was Constitutional legitimacy, which required a stamp of approval from the highest court of the land. It then required a political legitimacy which required a subset of political parties to accept him as the leader of the nation and contest elections on that basis. Once he decided to acquire political legitimacy, he needed to ensure that the two dominant rivals were somehow banished from the scene. One had been sent in exile for ten years and other types of restrictions were placed on the other who was already in a self-imposed exile.

The 'Qualification to Hold Public Offices Order, 2002' was introduced, barring anyone from holding the office of prime minister twice, clearly targeting the two former prime ministers, Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto. Another, the 'Political Parties Order, 2002', prevented those disqualified from seeking election to parliament on corruption and other criminal convictions under Article 63 of the 1973 constitution from holding party posts. The LFO (Legal Framework Order) amended Article 63 to include non-payment of utility bills and loans as well as convictions for absconding from court as grounds for disqualification. The 'absconder' clause was Bhutto-specific as she had earlier been convicted for failing to appear in court in a corruption case. In addition, the holding of a bachelor’s degree was made compulsory for contesting elections. While this condition disqualified almost half the members of the National and Provincial Assemblies dissolved after the October coup, candidates of the Islamic parties emerged unscathed as most of them hold madrassa degrees that were granted equivalence. For example, the Chief of the most sectarian terrorist outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba-Pakistan (SSP), Azzam Tariq, and against whom many murder cases were pending, was allowed to fight the elections from the jail as he agreed to join the Musharraf alliance even as many other politicians were disqualified under one pretext or another.

A remarkable country !

Considering most of the trucking business is owned by the army, government of Pakistan will tax the army and army will have to pay the civvies tax? This will be army taxing it self :)

If it was not clear, Unfair is now the new SD spokesperson. She hit the H&D hard some time ago.

Now that TSPA is talking about increasing the rate but allowing the supplies to go through, she is appealing to the TSPians TFTAness.

She is becoming a great barometer of what the Khan is thinking.

Emergence of the Punjabi Taliban - Op Ed in DT
Excerpts
The term Punjabi Taliban has come to be widely used for militants in recent times, but the militancy of the Punjabi Taliban has long been a destabilising factor for civil society. Earlier, recruits from Punjab were used for jihad in Afghanistan and Kashmir. Some Punjab-based political leaders and police officials, at the behest of their political bosses, tried to blame the attacks on FATA-based Taliban or on Indian agents, but it is now generally accepted that there are some extremists who belong to Punjab. The Punjabi Taliban are more lethal than the so-called Pashtun Taliban, as they carry out attacks that need much higher levels of training and coordination. Till analysts recognised the existence of the Punjabi Taliban, these extremist groups were termed as splinter groups of sectarian organisations.

Intelligence sources estimated around 5,000 extremists from southern and northern Punjab to have moved to South Waziristan in 2005, while some 10,000 newly recruited young members of the Punjabi Taliban networks returned to the province.

Qandeel Siddique’s DIIS Report for 2010 about the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has warned, “The growing number of US drone strikes in Pakistan’s border areas, and expanding US presence and influence inside Pakistan has further aggravated the jihadists — not only in the northwest of the country, but also in Punjab.” The jihadists, Qandeel says, accuse the government of Punjab of facilitating the US ‘takeover’ of Pakistan.

The newly established military wing of the group, Asian Tigers, is based in Waziristan. Its training camps prepare Punjabi militants for war against Pakistani security forces in southern Punjab. The group killed the father of the Afghan Taliban, Colonel Imam, and former ISI officer Khalid Khwaja.
Throughout the 1990s, Pakistan’s militant groups trained over 25,000 extremists in terror camps. In his book, Secret Affairs, Mark Curtis says that the Pakistani army trained about 60,000 militants for the Kashmir jihad, but sources in the Pakistan Army denied it. In 2010, while talking to a private TV channel, former president General Musharraf admitted the army’s role in recruitment of jihadis. {Is he referring to the Der Spiegel interview ?}

This lack of IEDiological dances by the faith-fools is convincing me that the PA and the ISI are in complete control of the Fsquares! When the PA/ISI are in mango jam, then all goes quiet.

Right now their H&D is in their twisted chaddis so peese must rain.
