Appears as Zardari successfully out played Kiyani.

Now Supreme Court will follow the line of deal stuck between Zardari and kiyani. In any case zardari used Gilani well in making right sounds at right time at right places.

Not only he was successful in avoiding an inevitable change in regime, but emerged as net gainer by removing the defence secretary, and hence establishing a future say in change of military line of order.

10% strangely looks that he is open, straight forward and honest. Kee-yani looks constipated and probably posturing to fart from the left side. Dark circles around his eyes. Overall looks like an dis honest and ruffled person.

This is a Sep 2011 pic, not yesterday's meeting. From ToI's report of the meeting yesterday,
Television channels beamed footage of a smiling President Zardari speaking with Kayani, who was wearing a dark suit instead of his trademark military uniform.

So while Pakistan continuously interferes, incites, arms, trains, internationalizes the Kashmir insurgency, our peacenik PM (and to be frank, I can't think of one politician in India who would) lets such an opportunity to bleed Pakistan and maybe even split it further, go waste.

Zero strategic thinking, zero.

I feel when GoI kept quite about Chinese presence in PoK India lost a lot of steam on that front.

There is another aspect that has gone pretty much unreported: the Chinese backing provided to the PA over the GoPakistan in the past few weeks. China has made a statement that she will not tolerate a dismembered Pakistan.

Indian MEA is very busy making China a close friend, increasing trade, etc. So I very much doubt that such strategic thinking will bubble up.

It cannot.

GoI intends to win the region via diplomacy, economics and asking IA if there is such a thing called Chinese threat.

While China and Pakistan are more than busy dismembering India - starting with fake currency, etc.

^^^ The interesting part is that news reports seem to suggest that the yanquis are being given support and cooperation by TSPA for the drone strikes. It has been widely reported in the Paki media too. Reports suggest that foreigners are being targeted. But at the same time mention that they are taking out the ALQ and the bunnies. To me, this may mean one of, or a combination of many things:

a) Mango abdul who hates Yanquis and those who have been protesting Drona are being told your TSPA are assisting us. With the Porkistun Govt. openly suggesting that the TSPA is a state within a state, thus strengthening democrazy.
b) mollyfying the anger in Yanqui Congress against TSPA so that the military Industrial Complex can make more money and create jobs by "selling" equipment to TSPA.
c) Mollyifying the apparent anger amongst the troops in AFG.
d) A subtle hint to TSPA, by these well worded relaeases that the Massa can make life tough withing their own Porkistun

Basically a balancing act. Not business as usual.

ASIA - Pakistani officer laid to rest as Turkish pilot's body found
A military funeral was held for Maj. Massoud Hussein Chhachhar, 35, who was killed in a training flight off Turkey's Aegean coast Jun. 16, in the Pakistani city of Lahore today.

Chhachhar was training Turkish pilot Lt. Serkan Sağır on a D-137 plane when it crashed into the Aegean Sea near the western province of İzmir, killing both pilots.

The funeral was attended by Gen. Recep Yüksel of Turkey's Air Training Command, Turkish Ambassador to Islamabad Babür Hızlan, Punjab Provincial Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and ranking officers from the Pakistani air force. Turkish President Abdullah Gül and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent laurels to the funeral.

Chhachhar has been training Turkish pilots for the past two years as part of a military cooperation agreement between Turkey and Pakistan. He had the most flight hours among servicemen in his rank and Turkish officials had requested to extend his tour of duty for another year due to "outstanding service," the report said.

Chhachhar's coffin, wrapped in both the Turkish and Pakistani flags, was flown to his home village for burial after the ceremony. He has been married for three years.

Search and rescue teams have spotted the dead body of Turkish Lt. Sağır who died in the crash at around noon today.

this is not the first time a female fighter pilots of PAF has crashed.... I vaguely remember another F-7 going down with female trainee pilot.... accordingly to the below link all other female fighter pilots are grounded currently by PAF.. Fatima was the last one flying and looks like she is going to join her batch-mates... wishing a speedy recovery though...

on a hindsight may be the decision to use female fighter pilots by PAF was a rushed one....

turkey seems to be deliberately currying influence with Pak as a hedge against iranian and saudi power and to keep open a lifeline to the only nuclear power in the islamic crescent and self-declared jihadi state. as a NATO member they have a dozen more favourable countries to practise with.

perhaps they feel if the islamists take over, NATO/EU might seriously downgrade their special status as the bosporus chowkidar and then the biraders will be the only ones left.

Pakis also seem to be a conduit for Cheeni Maal to turkey (there seems to be some hesitation to deal with the Chinese directly considering their EU aspirations) and Pakees are also a ready market for Turki products.

The website said she injected instead of ejected; what a bunch of donkeys.

As for PAF inducting females too fast, the only thing I have to say to that is to the fact that their is something completely snafu'ed about the training regimen in the Pak Armed Forces. Sex shouldn't matter when it comes to flying, only training should. Though I think this reeks of internal sabotage.

L-3 to work on Pakistan F-16 simulators
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- L-3 Link Simulation and Training has received a contract from the U.S. Air Force to modernize two F-16C Block 52 aircrew training devices for the Pakistani air force.

L-3 Link will install the company's SimuSphere HD-9 visual system display -- the first use of SimuSphere HD-9 on training devices delivered to a foreign nation's air force, an L-3 Link statement said.

SimuSphere HD-9 will provide Pakistan's F-16 pilots with "an increased level of tactical training realism" including high-definition databases and image generators create a highly realistic and relevant training environment over Pakistan.

The F-16C Block 52 simulator units, scheduled for delivery in 2013, will be installed and networked at Shahbaz Air Base at Jacobabad, in Pakistan's Sindh province.

"This award demonstrates the value that SimuSphere HD-9 will bring to military fast jet training," L-3 Link President Leonard Genna said.

"SimuSphere HD-9, combined with the trainers' overall HD World capabilities will allow Pakistan's air force F-16 pilots to gain training credit equivalent to live training."

The upgraded aircrew training devices will support new pilot and pilot-conversion training. Specific exercises include takeoffs and landings, low-level flight and emergency procedures, as well as advanced skills training such as acquiring and identifying targets while delivering a range of ordnance during simulated air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.

The simulators also will have a helmet-mounted cuing system enabling pilots to practice control of aircraft-targeting systems and sensors, as well as night-vision goggles to conduct simulated night missions.

Each simulator will have a dedicated instructor and operator station.

SABIR system detailed below. The sheer number of sensors, weapons and configurations possible with the C-130 are just mind boggling. We ought to acquire more. Let C-130 sqns be based from Palam, Agra and Chakrata co-located with SF, NSG and NDRF forces to respond to all threats 24x7 8)

http://www.airdyne.org/aboutus.php

A novel means of adding surveillance sensors to the C-130 quickly and with minimum modification is on display here at the Dubai Air Show. Highland Integrated Surveillance Systems (HISS) can replace the paratroop door on the Hercules with a roll-up door that includes a mount for sensors that retracts for takeoff and landing; a large bubble window and collapsible workstation for an observer/operator; and an equipment rack.

The Special AirBorne Mission Installation and Response system (SABIR) has already been fitted to some U.S. Navy C-130s when flying special operations missions, and to a U.S. Marine Corps C-130 in Japan. The system is attracting interest from the UAE and other air forces, according to HISS president and CEO Roger Smibert. The mount can take EO/IR sensor balls, small radars, SIGINT or electronic warfare equipment. When extended, it provides 360-degree coverage. An ejection tube for sonotubes or other SAR stores is also included. Two people can fit or remove the SABIR system in only one hour.

The modified door does not affect the C-130’s cargo-carrying capacity in any way. Moreover, a C-130 operator might fit SABIR doors to both sides of the fuselage to provide a multi-sensor capability. According to Smibert, the installation overcomes the weight limitation and turbulence issues of a nose-mounted sensor installation. The maximum payload is 400 pounds, and maximum sensor length is eight feet. The installation costs $1- to $1.5 million, exclusive of the payload.

The SABIR was originally designed by Airdyne Inc. for fitting to Canadian Armed Forces C-130s, for the carriage of a FLIR Systems EO/IR sensor ball. HISS (Stand E504) is another Canadian company that specializes in the fitting of airborne surveillance systems to helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. HISS has the marketing rights to the SABIR. When the Canadian program was delayed, airworthiness certification was done by the U.S. Air Force.

Smibert told AIN that the Lockheed Martin Skunk Works has endorsed the mod. The SABIR has also been fitted to the U.S. Air Force LC-130 that flies in the Antarctic for the National Science Foundation. It carries an X-band radar that is used to survey landing strips in case snow has covered a developing crack in the ice.

Prompted by one potential customer, HISS has done preliminary design for a CH-47F Chinook helicopter door installation.

HISS specializes in fitting surveillance equipment to aircraft and helicopters. It has added sensors on many different platforms, ranging in size from Fennec helicopters to an F-27. The company established a subsidiary in the Emirates in 2008. It lists a number of customers in the region, including the Bahrain, Dubai and Oman police forces; the UAE Border Guard; the Qatar Air Force; and the Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Forces.

They know how to build a submarine, they can get a miniaturized reactor from China and put one in the ocean in 5-10 years, I would say. The only way to stop this from happening is to get a pressure point on China, (without upending the carefully constructed security architecture of the world), currently we dont have one.

Karachi inaugurated the world's first levitated mag-rail rail transit system in 2009. At least it must have done by now. There was a news item in 2004 that it would have such a system in 5 years. The world highest skyscraper wil be done in Karachi by 2013. It was announced in 2007 or so. What was the timeline for this nuke sub?

The Mag-rail was donated to China by Pak as sign of friendship and Skyscarper was moved to Dubai to show loyalty to Ummah. Right Now they are building Huge dams with budget of 21 Billion Dollar . Rumor is they are doing this for Indians as parting gift. What worries me is their lead in Statelite tech Manufactured in SUARACO facility.

None of the other stuff will happen, as it does nothing to threaten India. On the other hand, a nuke sub threatens India, therefore, it will be done. Your problem is that Indians have consistently underestimated Pakistan, right from 1947 - when Indians expected Pakistan to keel over in a few years at most.

I am continuously amazed by their ability to introduce new capabilities in the subcontinent (first submarine, first deliverable nuclear weapons, first ballistic missiles, first cruise missiles) and match India in a short time of a few years, so any Indian advantage is shortlived.

Their society may still look like crap, their industry may still be non existent, but their army will be kept on a level that threatens, or at least prevents an Indian dominance of the subcontinent.

Personally, I think the Nuke sub may not happen for the following reasons.

Pakis in spite of brave talk have little indigenous capability, from Vehicles to Missiles all military requirements are imported and armed by the USA and China with weapons which are against India.

Now why would they donate an expensive to build, expensive to maintain weapon which will not significantly enhance Pakis ability to be pain in the ass for Indians. A Nuke Sub with long endurance is not very useful for Pakis against India compared to the investment required.

Yes putting SLBM's on Nukes increases the threat for India, but it also gives Pakis to Threaten Europe and at future date China.

None of Pakis freinds want them to have the ability to strike beyond India. Thats why No dong, M-9 and M-11 were given but nothing beyond 1500 KM which could either reach Europe, Israel or China's Eastern seaboard.

As long as India was testing short range Ballistic missiles, West, China used to make sure that Paki H&D was always saved but notice no trying to help Paki H&D Agni IV or Agni III type range of missiles.

Everybody knows the nature of beast and if you give it fangs long enough to strike you , all their friends know they will be blackmailed for more and more money then.

Pakis by revealing their blackmailing abilities to the USA in the last few years is message none of their friends will ignore.

is more likely they will be given some of the Song SSKs (reported to be inferior to the Yuan), while prc standardizes around the Yuan as its prime indigenous SSK design. but a mix of used Song and new build Yuan is also possible.
