Actually, it is yours as well as all other economists' calculations that are wrong. The price value of everything has gone up, including IEDs and bombers.

Pa'astan is now an IT super-duper-power. Software development lab: Pakistan beats India and Sri Lanka to get contract
Whoo-hoo! Take that, evil banias! Watch out, world! There's a new player at the IT-poker table.
In a move that would help spur the already booming development of IT content, Pakistan has beaten off competition from regional countries to bag World Bank’s contract for setting up a research lab for mobile software development including apps, The Express Tribune has learnt.
a well informed official told the Express Tribune that World Bank approved $380,000 in grants to Pakistan in November 2011 for a two-year project, mLab South Asia, to be set up in Lahore.
India and Sri Lanka were also shortlisted for the region but "Pakistan was picked as the final destination".Who writes this "poetic" crap?
$380 big ones, eh? That should keep the engine of paki pie-in-the-sky IT enterprise and industry oiled for the next year or so.

The TFTA Paki ITvity industry got a grant which is less than what a university professor gets in Khan? :rotfl: They should immediately reject this funding and block NATO supplies till the World Bank realizes that sending such peanuts as grant will only strengthen the hands of extremists in the Paki IT industry.

I think we are doing pretty good compared to our size and resources. Plus while india is primarily a service based industry, pakistan is doing more cutting edge research for product development. In us and europe u would find that indians out number it professionals from other countries, but while indians work mostly at a lower strata, pakistanis head the top posts and help shaping world’s it market. If we can bring back some of those talents back to pakistan we make cross the it turnover in excess of 100 billion
The truth is that Pakis cannot get Top Posts even in Al Qaeda.

mLab is a donor funded initiative from World Bank to encourage local talent in IT, particularly developing things like mobile applications. It is not a business contract. It is the equivalent of celebrating that they beat out India to get $1 Billion WHO grant for polio eradication.

The comments in that article are pretty funny. Sort it in the order of "Reader recommendations"

Are those leading edge mobile apps for IEDs to go Kaboom? Sure, we can concede that they have a huge lead in that field.

I am yet to see the Paki professionals (even a single one in the Silicon Valley at a VP level, doesn't come to mind) at the helm of IT positions in the US; it is probably like a mirage in the Arabian desert. The number of Paki (hi tech) entrepreneurs heading start ups is also a minuscule number.

Gilani wants N-tech to match India
"Pakistan needs civil nuclear technology and wants to obtain it. The technology is important for Pakistan to maintain balance with India and to promote regional stability," Gilani said before departing for Seoul to attend a 53-nation nuclear security summit. "If we don't have balance with India, there will be lack of stability in the area.''

A Pakistani parliamentary committee on national security report had made a similar demand recently. "The US-Indo civil nuclear agreement has altered the security balance in the region. Therefore, Pakistan should seek similar treatment." Gilani said he would meet US president Barack Obama and discuss the Afghan situation with him at the summit. Foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar and Pakistan's ambassador to US Sherry Rehman are accompanying Gilani.
What's next? Gilani wants Amirkhan to give $1 trillion out its economy so that Bakistan can maintain balance with India and to promote regional stability.

Yes Gilani and all Paki establishment people are intelligent enough to understand that the current "world order" consists of nations being balanced against one another for "stability". The post WW2 surplus arms industries of the major WW2 combatants have been kept running to arm each side of any dispute in the name of "Balance of power" so that no side can win while the major powers remain at the top of the league. Not agreeing with Pakistan means trying to upset the "balance of power" and therefore the world "order". World order is an agenda set by someone else for us. As long as we concentrate on Pakistan alone, we are conforming to the agenda set for us.

Over 16,000 arms licences issued in six months
The data acquired by Dawn showed that the home minister had been generous enough to give a nod for the issuance of 16,631 arms licences between July 2011 — when he took charge of the office — and mid-January 2012. By now the number of licences would definitely have gone above 20,000, said officials.
“I assure you a quick and easy arms licence process,” Interior Minister Rahman Malik told a group of traders the other day.
The way they are handing out licenses for arms, how long before every paki man, woman, child and goat legally has a gun to his/her/its name?

‘Pull aside meet’ between Gilani, Singh likely
Both the Indian and Pakistani sides said no formal meeting has been scheduled. However, they did not rule out a “pull aside” meeting during the summit as both Singh and Gilani will be at the venue from morning till evening.

“No structured meeting is planned, but a pull aside is always possible,” Pakistan’s ambassador to South Korea Shaukat Ali Mukadam told reporters here on the sidelines of a ceremonial welcome to Singh at the “The Blue House”, the presidential residence.

“There are possibilities. There are various places to meet, they could meet in leaders’ lounge,” he said.
Its these "pull aside" meets where MMS is alone without any babus in the background which usually lead to some embarrassing moments/statements for Desh

How does he plan to bring the brain parity, asking help in crossbreeding? The long lasting GUBO Joint Venture is then fruitless, childless exercise. Only GUBO Singh can help not Gubomaster or GubohanwanHuPuLi.
BTW, last years ' slowest economic growth in Indian economy was still more than the whole GDP of Pakistan. BY 2015 we will add twice as much in a year and by 2020 our quarterly gorwth will be more than their annual GDP. IMHO, Gilani Sahib,India has nothing to with Paki mental instability which is essentially a domestic social and cultural issue imported in the land.

India triggers an arms race
Pakistan does not present a military threat to India. Budget of other smaller countries neighbouring India is also comparatively meagre. Most of these countries do not have requisite military prowess to pose any meaningful threat to a country that boasts to be a mini super power. Certainly, India is justifying its military build-up in the Chinese context. However, Beijing has consistently followed a policy of reconciliation and is focused on economic well being of its people. Though, China is a global power with attendant roles and responsibilities, even then it jacked up its defence budget for the new year only by 11%, to $106.41 billion.
India tries to justify its defence spending on the plea that its major threat is China. However, this is not true because most of its weapons, especially huge armour inventory is Pakistan specific. Most of its combat aircraft and ballistic missiles have a short range and hence are better suited for usage against Pakistan. India is also developing its Ballistic Missile Defence system focused on a missile threat from Pakistan. Likewise, its military structures field dispositions and command organisations are poised for employment against Pakistan.
What is the meaning of short range for him? 300km? 500km? 1000km? Even Agni I is enough to cover most pakistan from bordering states. If India was so Paki centric like them then what's the point of going for A2, A3 etc. Perhaps short range for him is shorter then his di*k.

Good news comes in twos.

See, its little stuff like this that gladdens the innocently pounding hearts of millions of morosely dejected pakis who have known nothing but despondency and failure since the evil Baniyas and Brahmins cunningly (and deceitfully) took away what was rightfully theirs (Hindustan). Such news in driblets brings a ray of hope and a promise of a bigger and brighter future that awaits the faithful in the afterlife as long as they (the pakis) stay the course, not get distracted, firm up their resolve, strive to diligently follow the principles of the founding fathers and believe in themselves as the rightful owners (nay, inheritors) of the global leadership in everything.

Remember the news of that paki IT company beating the Yindoos and bagging the $0.000380 Billion Apps contract? Man, oh man! Good news just keeps on coming. Snuck in the corners of the great journal called The Daily Whines, this gem that should be repeated across hand-painted banners on the streets of LaWhore, Pindi, I-slam-her-bad, and Quitter. Let the whole world know that pakis are the world's best mathematicians. There! I said it.

Pak student wins gold in World Mathematics Competition
ISLAMABAD: A 13-year old student, Moosa Fairoz has secured the first position in an online World Mathematics Competition (WMC) held in Australia. Fairoz, a resident of Phalian, Punjab, was awarded a gold medal in Australia recently. Fairoz secured 4,405 point and got the first place while another Pakistani student Hasnain secured second position in the competition with 4,303 points in the 11-13 years category. In the category of age 14-18 years, another student from Pakistan, Osama, secured second place with 3,318 points. About 1.57 million students from all over the world participated in the competition.
And, gentle readers of BRF, please do not belittle the online nature of this competition. How else do you expect a poor paki with meager resources to travel to Australia? Hain? Needeless to say, there was no Yindoo or Yahudi in sight. Pious Pakis are number 1. Allah knows best.

And, the chest beatings continue....

Anatomy of military image: Dhaka falls — II
By Brig A R Siddiqi, Retd, Ex-POW

Some gems:
The strong belief in the ‘invincibility’ of the Pakistani soldier and ‘unfailing divine help’, the sheet anchor of the nation and the military underlined all along the triumphant image of the Pakistani mujahid (warrior) against Hindu India.
the redoubtable Z A Suleri, in his column Men and Matters titled Jessore: The Stalingrad of Pakistan wrote: “Our soldier is a wholly different species from others, specially his Indian (Hindu — parenthesis mine) counterpart. He is armed in weapons, but he is also armed in iman
“Something like, though we were outnumbered and outgunned, we were not outclassed you know what I mean.”
Chained to the traditional military image of invincibility and his own as an unyielding ghazi (warrior), Lieutenant-Gen Amir Abdullah Khan (‘Tiger’) Niazi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command was still saying in press reports that the Indians dared not enter Dhaka. “They would have had to drive a tank over his body” before daring to enter Dhaka.
Far away at the GHQ, the nerve centre of the military, emerged yet another sorry spectacle: The disgraceful image of the supreme commander, General Agha Mohammad Yahya Khan, showed even on one of his rare visits to GHQ for a map briefing of the war. As he got off his four-star staff car he looked bloated in the face. He was in uniform, a warm Angola shirt and serge trousers. His sideburns protruded from the sides of his service cap. Such was the atmosphere at the GHQ on the morrow of the war. It was one of emptiness rather than one of intense activity as would be expected at the armed forces headquarters of a country at war.
“Our defensive positions are being improved and that some minor indentations had been made across the various sectors in Punjab....’
Thus the sad tale that began and ran through the length of our turbulent history, beginning soon after the emergence of Pakistan, ended on December 16, 1971.
And the strong belief in the ‘invincibility’ of the Pakistani soldier and ‘unfailing divine help’ shattered, never to be put together again, in a united bizonal Pakistan.
He (Niazi) boasted that there was nothing to stop him from ‘making Calcutta’. “Shera (Tiger),” he said, thumping his thighs, “War is not for intellectuals the likes of you and Jacob (Lieutenant-General Sahibzada Yakub) to wage. It’s for the like of us. Just wait and see....”
Niazi, did live up to his word and ‘made Calcutta’, but only as a POW lodged in Fort William.
As for the military image of the army, navy and air force, with some 95 senior officers in Indian captivity as POWs, what kind of an image building would have been either desirable or possible?
Shera!!

From the first part:
Contrary to his image as a former military chief, General Beg went rhetorical in his affidavit (when presented to the chief justices of the supreme court), inconsistent with his professional standing and the dignity of the court. He recited the following verse: Jane kis jurm ki pai hai saza yad nahin..... (I wonder what crime I may have committed to deserve this punishment...).
Here, let me count the reasons:

1. Mehran Bank scandal ("I thought it was my personal checking account")
2. Nuclear proliferation with Iran ("aren't they our ummah brothers?")
3. Accusation of role in Zia's death ("they weren't my mangoes")
4. Being palsy with President Musharraf and then stabbing him in the back ("Mohajirs don't have to stick together")
5. Being a paki ("Don't blame me, blame my forefathers")

Our own Einsteins and Steve Jobs
Bravo! We have our own Einsteins and Steve Jobs. Moosa Feroz, the 15-year-old Pakistani student has won a gold medal in the Online World Mathematics Competition held in Australia, which is a great distinction, a big achievement.

About five million children from 100 counties around the globe took part in the competition which was held in the first week of March. Once again Pakistanis have proved that they are no less than the civilised, the educated and the advanced countries of the world.

Last week, Pakistan lifted the Asia Cup in cricket. Earlier, Pakistan beat England in the Test cricket series on their home turf. Arfa Karim Randhawa, who died of cancer recently, was awarded the youngest Microsoft engineer certificate, whom Bill Gates invited to US and awarded the distinction. Ali Moeen Nawazish, another young Pakistani, made a world record in the O’ Levels.

Last year, a Pakistan military contingent got a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for breaking the world record of wading through the obstacles. Around 750 soldiers from across the world descended on the Brecon Beacons in Wales to suffer through one of the toughest exercises ever devised. The Cambrian patrol took two days to complete and tested the soldiering skills of the teams as they crossed some of the most arduous terrain one could imagine.

The list continues, the achievement go on. The vibrant nation perhaps waits for an able leadership. Probably, the younger generation waits for their time and turn to come. Hats off to Moosa Feroz and all others who dare.

I was initially tempted to put this in the BENIS thread. Pakistaniyat on full display.

Nice clip of how Pakis define themselves as 'NOT India'. It is nice to see that the backdrop is the Ashoka lions and tricolored gate! :D

The quam is so demoralized that despite attempts to get roaring 'Zindabads', the response is so tepid. Also, a bunch of inane 'inshallahs'. The anchor is whining about the Indians (who are having a blast dancing and singing) of not obliging her demands of turning off the music (doesn't it seem similar to other things like ... Kashmir, Siachen, Sir Creek, Indus waters etc. etc.) :(( .

At 31:00, a Baki does the whole hog of 'RAA, Mossad, CIA, MI6 blah, blah ... wanting to break this country .... and we have to strengthen them', with the stupid anchor going 'Inshallah'

At 34:00, the Baki TV anchor dude goes on and on about all the things Pakistan has .... mountains, rivers, glaciers, talented abduls, honest :?: folks, faithfools etc. etc. and make the reference that India cannot compete with them because they have 'Iman'. I wish this dude had seen his fellow anchor on another channel describing in great detail how even Bangladesh has left them in the dust.

Pakistan needs nuclear technology to meet energy needs: Gilani
Gilani said the democratic government of Pakistan was fully committed to nuclear security
However he added that he was not so sure about the military government of Pakistan's commitment. hehe only Pakistan has the need to mention "democratic govt" whenever a simple "government" would suffice. I laugh at it every time I see it.

Wake up and smell the coffee Paki. India does pose a military threat to Pakistan. What are you going to do about it?

Officials: White House offers to curtail drones
http://www.thenewstribune.com/2012/03/2 ... rylink=cpy
WASHINGTON — In a bid to save the CIA's drone campaign against al-Qaida in Pakistan, US officials offered key concessions to Pakistan's spy chief that included advance notice and limits on the types of targets. But the offers were flatly rejected, leaving US-Pakistani relations strained as President Barack Obama prepares to meet Tuesday with Pakistan's prime minister.CIA Director David Petraeus, who met with Pakistan's then-spy chief, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Shuja Pasha at a meeting in London in January, offered to give Pakistan advance notice of future CIA drone strikes against targets on its territory in a bid to keep Pakistan from blocking the strikes - arguably one of the most potent U.S. tools against al-Qaida.The CIA chief also offered to apply new limits on the types of targets hit, said a senior U.S. intelligence official briefed on the meetings. No longer would large groups of armed men rate near-automatic action, as they had in the past - one of the so-called "signature" strikes, where CIA targeters deemed certain groups and behavior as clearly indicative of militant activity.Pasha said then what Pakistani officials and its parliament have repeated in recent days: that Pakistan will no longer brook independent U.S. action on its territory by CIA drones, two Pakistani officials said. All the officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive negotiations.

Ale Under the Veil
Today, Murree’s market for its alcohol products is theoretically limited to members of the country’s religious minorities and Pakistan’s very small number of foreign tourists and expats. Moreover its products may be sold only in the country’s 70 or so licensed shops. Only six of these licences are in the country’s politically and culturally dominant Punjab province, which has a population of more than 70 million. There are none in Rawalpindi because a devout right-wing minister of tourism took away the licence previously held by Flashman’s Hotel. If you are non-Muslim Pakistani in Punjab and have a permit, you are allowed to buy six bottles of whisky or one case of beer per month. ('Not enough,’ jokes the company’s technical manager, Fakher Mahmood.) Given that the company produces some 820 million half-litre bottles of beer, whisky, vodka, brandy and other alcoholic drinks per annum – and that those minorities make up less than five per cent of Pakistan’s 170 million people, those Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists, Parsees and pagan animists would have to be consuming more than 90 bottles per person per year, man, woman and child!

In Pakistan, Hindus Say Woman’s Conversion to Islam Was Coerced
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/26/world ... .html?_r=1
In one sense, the drama is an old story in South Asia, where the contours of society have been shaped by waves of conversions over the centuries. Since the founding of Pakistan, most conversions are to Islam, the state religion. But such conversions usually take place quietly, even in an organized fashion, and the unusual furor surrounding the latest case stems partly from the brash manner of her conversion at the hands of a divisive local politician, Mian Mitho. After Ms. Kumari declared herself a Muslim in her town court on Feb. 27, Mr. Mitho triumphantly led the new convert from the courthouse, parading her before thousands of cheering supporters. Then he drove her in a caravan to an ancient Sufi religious shrine controlled by his family and famed as a site where Hindus have been converted. There, Ms. Kumari was welcomed by Mr. Mitho’s elderly brother, Mian Shaman — the same cleric who had converted her three days earlier — who led her into the towering shrine. When she emerged, now wearing a black veil, gunmen unleashed volleys of celebratory Kalashnikov fire into the air and shouted “God is calling you!” Nand Lal, a government schoolteacher, noting that Mr. Mitho’s armed guards had escorted his daughter to court appearances and news conferences. His wife, Sulachany Devi, issued an anguished appeal. “Rinkel was my blood, and she remains my blood. All I want is for her to return home,” she said. The case has caused division within the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party, of which Mr. Mitho is a member. Earlier this month, President Asif Ali Zardari privately intervened to have Ms. Kumari taken into protective custody. Later, the president’s sister, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, delivered an impassioned speech to Parliament about the plight of the Hindu community.

“I have a lot of discomfort with this kind of behavior,” said a senior party member from Sindh Province, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the political delicacy of the matter. “The state is not giving the Hindus an equal environment. So they are turning to a narrative of forced conversion to fight back.” As Ms. Kumari’s anticipated court date nears, it has revived many old tensions. And while no one is expecting widespread violence in her case, in some of its particulars it bears a remarkable resemblance to an earlier conversion scandal — one in 1936, when a British magistrate returned a Hindu girl to her parents after she had been converted. The result was an 11-year uprising by Muslim Pashtun tribesmen that at one point involved 40,000 British troops
