BBC article on many Bollywood stars having a Peshawar connection
The fun part is at the very end, when the article wonders why so many Bollywood stars have a connection with Peshawar. Mango abdul seems to think it is just will of God, but a local Paki gives the alternative "We're so much more TFTA here" angle
Article goes on to say that many of the stars ancestral homes are in sad condition now, taken over by other people.Within a 200m radius in this area are located the ancestral homes of three of Bollywood's all-time great stars - Shah Rukh Khan, Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor.
...
Peshawar boasts several other Bollywood legends, such as Madhubala, the Marilyn Monroe of Indian cinema in the 1950s and 1960s, and the inimitable Amjad Khan - the bad guy of the 1975 Indian classic, Sholay.
Vinod Khanna, who played the lead in several Bollywood films of the 1970s, was born here, and so was Surinder Kapoor, a film producer who started the second Kapoor clan in Bollywood.
The fun part is at the very end, when the article wonders why so many Bollywood stars have a connection with Peshawar. Mango abdul seems to think it is just will of God, but a local Paki gives the alternative "We're so much more TFTA here" angle
No explanation given for Shivaji Rao Gaekwad saar's popularity among the Japanese .The question now is, what is it about Peshawar that has led it to produce so many mega stars for Bollywood?
For the man on the street, it's just the beneficence of God.
Local historian Ibrahim Zia has this explanation: "During the silent era, the Indian cinema was dominated by Bengalis and Parsis, but when talkies came, the personality of the actor assumed greater importance, and the people of Peshawar were not only tall and fair skinned by Indian standards, they spoke Hindi with greater flair and style..."

What do you have to say about the music scene in India and Pakistan?
What is this Pakistani-style music that I keep hearing about? The other day a motorma was talking about "Pakistani Classical" music. Were these music styles and forms created by the invading ghazis of Bin Qasim army?Bollywood music was very different in the early 90s and Pakistani music was a very progressive genre at that time. The reason we became popular in India was because people discovered a new genre that didn’t exist in India then. Over the years, Bollywood has acquired a lot from Pakistani music. If you talk about the current Bollywood songs, they have a hint of Pakistani-style music. Bollywood has taken our music to a completely different level. Now, Pakistan is out of musicians because all of them are in India.

Stay on renaming Lahore Chowk on Bhagat Singh, extended
The renaming of Lahore’s Fawara Chowk in the Shadman area after revolutionary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh got further delayed on Wednesday with the Lahore High Court extending a stay on the proposal by three weeks.
The stay was extended because the Punjab Government and the City District Government of Lahore failed to respond to a petition filed by Tehreek-Hurmat-e-Rasool against giving the roundabout a non-Islamic name.
Earlier this month, the court had stopped the Punjab Government from notifying a government-appointed committee’s recommendation to revert to Fawara Chowk’s pre-Partition name — Bhagat Singh Chowk.
While extending the stay, the court has agreed to hear an application filed by Saeeda Diep – one of the leading advocates of renaming the roundabout after Bhagat Singh – to be impleaded as a party to the case. Ms. Diep told The Hindu that she was also trying to get others favourably disposed to the move to implead themselves in the case to challenge the bid to sabotage this effort to give Bhagat Singh — a son of the soil — his due.
Also, Ms. Diep has questioned Tehrik-Hurmat-e-Rasool’s suggestion to rename the roundabout after Rehmat Ali, who in his writings had billed Pakistan’s founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah as a ‘quisling’ and ‘traitor’. {The parties that constitute Hurmat-e-Rasool did not accept Jinnah as Quaid-e-Azam. They were of the view he was Kafir-e-Azam. So, why is Ms. Diep agitated ?}

Also pakistan exports 90% worlds IT.About 8% of Pakistanis have access to higher education, which is less than other countries member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
He was sharing his experience from attending the Sixth Islamic Conference on Higher Education and Scientific Research in Sudan. Leghari said access to higher education in Lebanon is 54%, Turkey 45%, Malaysia 40%, and Jordan 38%, and the OIC countries only contribute 1.5% of the world’s technology exports.

Right before our eyes, in broad daylight, this is an example of how fraud masquerading as "history" is written by the winners. I am of course referring to this Reuters report written by some western puke interviewing Hina duckling. So now the narrative being pushed is after executing a 2-bit foot soldier. So the disgusting narrative being pushed by the west, its TSP munna, and Indian munnas in power in Delhi, all of them the big 26/11 winners, is that this non entity Kesab has been executed, and so justice has been done. The big losers of course are first and foremost the victims of 26/11, and the vast majority of Indians who have been spat on; and they don't even know it except for us on BR. So from now on, watch for western rags to say, and repeated by DDM, that 26/11 is closed. My blood must have hit dangerous level when I saw on Cong chuitya declare on UndyTV that India must be so proud that even US did not give OBL a fair trial. I mean are such people even human?http://tribune.com.pk/story/472225/us-p ... ired-khar/

Is WKKism a YYY conspiracy?
The core philosophy of WKKism is that Pakistanis are same as their Indian counterparts. They look same, eat the same, love bollywood, treat guests like gods (this is a stretch because there is only one god in Islam) and so on?
Can a deeper conspiracy lie in this overtly innocent brotherhood shown by the Wagha Kandle Kissers?
YES says our informed sources in Islamic Kabila.
You see the separate nation of Pakistan was created on the basic principle that Islam is a pure religion and Muslims cannot co-exist with the filthy and deceptive Hindus.
So every time a WKK says Hindu baniyas are same as Pakistanis, it puts the purity pursuing Pakistanis demonstrate their purity by doing something very Islamic.
Since purity comes at a cost continuous demand for display of purity diverts the much needed national resources towards protecting our national identity.
Of course the Yindu-Baniya Fanatics at BRF claim that the end result will be a much purer and absolute Islamic Nation of Pakistan, but as long as WKKs exist across the border, Pakistan can never become the absolutely pure nation (even one WKK across the border means Indians == Pakis)

Who We Are?
We are residents of the Boston Area concerned about the rising communalization of South Asian societies. We formed the Alliance for a Secular and Democratic South Asia in January 1993 in response to the communal violence unleashed throughout South Asia by the destruction of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, India in 1992. {So from 1993 onwards any Jihadi violence anywhere in "South Asia" is the result of Indian(read Hindu) communalism}
The principles and beliefs that unite us include:
Condemnation of violence perpetrated against any group on the basis of religion, caste, language or gender.
Communal violence is fostered and manipulated by vested interests that profit from such divisive tactics.
Democracy is essential for secularism. Furthermore, democracy can not be merely the ritual casting of votes but must entail equal access to all people to the resources of society regardless of economic or religious background.
Secularism is not a choice but a necessity for the diverse and deeply interlinked societies of South Asia.

During a session in Islamabad, the committee also expressed its concern over the exposure being given to Indian models in Pakistani advertisements. On the suggestion of the committee to ban commercials of foreign actors in the country, Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the issue was in the court and it would be better to wait for the decision. However, he agreed with the members of the committee that the local culture should be promoted by the media as the country was rich in heritage

There is a narrative being promoted that peace in Afghanistan is possible only if India and Pakistan reconcile. Apparently they are having a contest in Afghanistan. So India's development initiative is being equated to Pakistani terrorism. Expect this lahori logic to get shriller closer to US withdrawal.

For demanding wages, 5 teenaged girls gang raped in Pakistan by landlords
Five teenaged girls from the same family were gang raped by two landlords and their aides in Pakistan's Punjab province after a relative of the girls asked a landlord to pay him his wages, according to media reports today.
Landlords Mara Jat and Zaheer Jat and their aides tied up labourer Mohammad Boota and his wife and raped the girls, aged between 13 and 18 years, at Kitro in Sheikhupura district yesterday.
Members of Boota's family told the media that the girls were abducted by the landlords and taken into the fields, where they were gang raped.
All the girls were unmarried, police officials said.
The incident occurred after Boota, who had moved to Kitro two weeks ago to work in the fields, demanded his salary from the landlords who had employed him.
The landlords and their aides warned him of dire consequences.
Police have filed an FIR, which quoted Boota as saying that he and his wife managed to free themselves and went to search for the girls.
They found the girls in a field while the landlords and their aides managed to escape.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited Boota's residence and directed police to immediately arrest all the accused.
He presented cheques to the victim's family and assured them that the accused would be brought to justice.
Police officer Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal said an initial medical report had confirmed that the girls were raped.
A case has been registered against eight men and three men have been been arrested, he said.

Taliban leader targetted in suicide attack
When the PA launched Operation Rah-e-Nijat (the Path of Salvation) in June 2009 in South Waziristan, they targetted only Mehsud's strongholds and Maulvi Nazir (and Gul Bahadur) decided to remain neutral and not attack the PA or come to the assistance of Baitullah Mehsud. Maulvi Nazir Ahmed is close to the Kandahari taliban and like them sports a long kameeze. Maulvi Nazir also dislikes the Uzbek jihadis fighting under IMU Chief Tahir Yuldashev who were close to Baitullah Mehsud. So, the battle lines have been drawn for long between Maulvi Nazir on the one hand and the Mehsud branch of TTP supported by the fierce Uzbeks, on the other hand. Mullah Omar tried hard to bring them together, which seemed to work very briefly (when the three formed 'Shura Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen’ in early 2009), but the unity fell apart soon. It is believed that the CIA drone that killed Baitullah Mehsud in his father-in-law's house in South Waziristan was possible due to coordinates given by Maulvi Nazir. Within two weeks of this assassination, the Mehsuds targetted Maulvi Nazir and it was even announced he was dead, but he survived.
PA has, for long, worked on a plan to engineer divisions among the TTP by playing upon clannish affinities, especially between the Mehsuds and the Waziris. So, they encouraged Waziris such as Maulvi Nazir Ahmed of South Waziristan (Ahmedzai Waziri)and Gul Bahadur of North Waziristan (Uthmanzai Waziri) against Baitullah Mehsud. The two Waziris formed an exclusive ‘Wazirir Alliance’ known as ‘Muqami Tehreek-e-Taliban’ to contain specifically the growing popularity of Baitullah Mehsud. While Baitullah Mehsud tactically withdrew from confronting them, he did not hesitate from taking on the other groups that opposed him in other places such as in Mohmand (where he eliminated one such pro-Government Taliban Commander, Khalid Shah in July 2008 and took control of that area).A key Taliban leader, Mullah Nazir, was injured in a suicide attack in the Wana town of South Waziristan on Thursday. The attack, which killed six others, was confirmed by Nazir’s spokesman to Dawn.com.
According to the spokesman, Nazir was injured when a teenaged suicide bomber rammed his hand-cart packed with explosives into a vehicle carrying members of the Taliban leader’s group in Rustam Bazaar. Nazir survived the attack because he had already stepped out of the vehicle and was heading towards a building nearby.
Nazir is said to have a non-aggression pact with the Pakistan Army but regularly sends men to help the Afghan Taliban attack coalition forces stationed there.
No group had claimed responsibility for the attack till late on Thursday but the needle of suspicion points towards the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Uzbek terrorists of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan who had been forced out of the Ahmedzai Wazir area of the tribal agency by Nazir. He also has a running feud with the TTP, which is both a turf war for control over South Waziristan and tribal rivalry. The TTP is predominantly Mehsud while Nazir’s group is primarily Wazir.
Since the Taliban itself is splintered, rivalries are commonplace and this is not the first time that Nazir has been targeted. The U.S. has also been targeting Nazir and his fighters with drone attacks.
