Strange that China would have something against a US pivot - calling it destabilizing, but they themselves use the same strategy in the IOR and do not consider their pivot destabilizing.

Time Of India: Chinese troops intrude into Indian territory in Ladakh, erect a tented post
LEH/NEW DELHI: In a deep incursion, Chinese troops have entered the Indian territory in Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sector in eastern Ladakh and erected a tented post, setting the stage for a face-off with Indian troops.

A Platoon-strength contingent of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) came 10 km inside the Indian territory in Burthe in DBO sector, which is at an altitude of about 17,000 feet, on the night of April 15 and established a tented post there, according to highly placed sources, which said that a Chinese Army Platoon usually consists of around 50 men.

Nope just asking IA to do the needful. Why should anyone else do anything? Unlike the chinkies who have to cry and run to US and Europe just because India tested an A-5. IA has to do its job and evict these ********..dead or alive. Its kinda their job description.

^Its funny how the dlones wanna troll so often. Then again they get paid by the post count. I even remember one of these dlones complaining of how someone else made a huge post in rebuttal, answering which would kind of mess up his whole day and get him only 50 cents. I guess whenever they get whipped by their greedy girlfriends/wives for more money (meanwhile she is thoughtfully eyeing the neighbour guy with the BMW), they come over here and try to earn some more.

Chinese No,2 man and "premier" is supposed to come to India in May. Perhaps these Chinese soldiers are part of his "negotiating strategy". He offers magnanimously to withdraw these soldiers and India bends over (or so they hope?)?? Why is it that you always hear about Chinese soldiers "intruding" into Indian territory but never Indian soldiers "intruding" into Chinese territory ?

If a bunch of Chinese can just stroll into Daulat Beg Oldie sector like a walk in the park, how safe is the IAF station there ?? A Chinese commando force could easily lay waste the entire base, planes, pilots and all in the dead of night and none would be the wiser.

India should use this opportunity to put this news on global media. China`s attitude in Japan and India should warn people of the consequences that Churchill foresaw in Stalin`s eyes while shaking his hand as an ally. Patton smelt it as well, but bureaucracy was too busy scavenging the backyard of Nazi Germany for memorabilia. Brits were desperate, no one saw what was brewing in the cauldron of mistrust towards East.

Our army didn't intrude into Ladakh: China

China seems to think that it has has not violated the LOC.

India will take every step to protect its interests: Defence Minister AK Antony on China incursion in Ladakh

The Indian army set up its own temporary camp just 500 meters (1600 feet) from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers after the incident on April 15. "On April 17, 5th Battalion of Ladakh Scouts was sent to the sector to take on the PLA challenge and they are also camping there now," a senior official said to Reuters.

Chinese troops intrude 10 km inside Ladakh, that means there is a 10 km distance which our troops can & have right to occupy

why not surround these intruders & force them to surrender .when the Chinese no 2 man arrives he will have to request release of these troops on international media leading to a message from Indian Army to PLA that we don't tolerate mischief from either side of border.

Do you think that an organisation from which likes of General V.K.Singh are ousted in controversy, proven decorated heroes like Manekshaw disrespected and corrupt political appointees shoved in for top spots can show enough resolve to even arrest the Cheeni intruders ?

One "peaceful" way of retaliation to Chinese incursion would be enter 20 Kms inside Chinese side of LAC and setup a camp , will also clear haze around the way how PLA would have reacted to our incursion

From Hindustan Times: India moves in more troops, stand-off with china escalates

The Indian army has moved an infantry regiment specialising in mountain warfare to Ladakh’s Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sector where the Chinese army has intruded into Indian territory and set up a tent post. The ITBP has also pitched a tent post just across from the one erected by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), after it intruded 10km inside Indian territory on April 15.
‘India, China not competitors’

The Indian government is playing down the intrusion with external affairs minister Salman Khurshid saying flag meetings were being held, but sources in the ministry of defence revealed that the situation was tense.

The two sides are caught in a bitter face-off with the Chinese refusing to retreat, claiming the territory to be theirs. In a deep incursion, a platoon strength of the Chinese army, comprising 50 men have entrenched themselves in eastern Ladakh at a height of nearly 17,000 feet.

In the past too, the PLA has intruded into Indian territory across the line of actual control (LAC), not very well demarcated at many places.

In 2011, members of the PLA landed in Ladakh in a helicopter and broke a few bunkers before retreating but this is the first time the stand-off has continued for a week.

A senior defence ministry official confirmed to HT that the intrusions have increased over the past few months because India has moved its tanks into high-altitude areas of Ladakh and even deployed heavy armoury. Recently, India also reactivated the advanced landing ground (ALG) for troop replenishment.

“Our troops are patrolling the Chinese side of the LAC and have not trespassed the line,” China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said in Beijing, adding, “China is willing to solve the boundary question through peaceful negotiations.”

In Delhi, an effort is being made to contain the confrontation especially since the new Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to visit India. For now, Delhi is working the phone lines – a line of communication agreed upon under the recently set up Mechanism on Coordination and Consultation on Border Affairs.

The Chinese No.2's visit should be put on hold. The Chinese troops should be surrounded, asked to surrender, and if they don't surrender, they should be killed.

China concerned over India’s naval prowess, says expert

Resident Sino-Russo experts meet Lora, Lora meet ......................

A little perplexing take, but interesting.
China, concerned over India’s policy on Indian Ocean, wants to establish posts in countries like Sri Lanka and Seychelles, said Dr. Lora Saalman, an American expert on arms control.

Dr. Saalman is an associate at the Nuclear Policy Program of the Carnegie Endowment and is based at the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy, Beijing. Her research focuses on Chinese arms control policies, and Sino-Indian and Sino-Russian strategic relations.

In an interaction with media persons here on Monday, she said some of the experts in China felt India was either on par with China or even surpassed it on naval power. Referring to strengthening of Indian Navy in recent years, she said the Chinese felt India might use its policy to control the Indian Ocean. “It is the first and foremost on their mind.”

Observing that the posts could be used as refuelling points by the Chinese, Dr. Saalman however added that not all engagement was negative as military could also be used to shore up economic interests in the region.

Dr. Saalman said China was also increasingly focusing on India and looking at where India was heading in the wake of the latter’s defence modernisation programme.

The Chinese viewed the India-U.S. partnership as a strategy to counter China in the region, she said, adding India could become part of the United States alliance consisting Japan and Taiwan. China was also looking with interest at the shift in export controls and the easing of restrictions on technology imports by India and was interested in engaging the U.S. in technology trade as they do not have anything comparable to India, Dr. Saalman said.

If it is disputed, India should do what it did in 1986, i.e. airdrop the army and a few tanks 10 kms within the chinese side of the disputed border. In International forums, whoever fires the first shot will be blamed, so it has to be the Chinese whose image should be tarnished further.
