Andhra film industry routinely comes up with movies with a hidden naxal message to it, I wonder how the censor board approves them, its a threat to internal security. One movie I remember is that of "Osei Ramulamma" directed by this Dasari Narayana Rao chap. In the movie he delivers dialogue upon dialogue of "suppression by the bouregoise" but look what he has done now?

^^ 3 IB chiefs have deferred doing anything about the IB chap. Asif Ibrahim had no choice as it sounds like things were moving fast .

What's more Headley confirmed Jehans involvement with LeT, this was removed from the report on Headley interrogation. Someone should ask why it was removed and who ordered the removal of his statement.

To go on like a broken record. This Javed Sheikh, who in his earlier avatar was Pranesh Kumar Pillai also had two passports which nobody has managed to give an explanation. He was also a character who had pretty much severed all his ties with his relatives in Kerala. Though his father was quick to jump up to say his son; a baby angel was targetted by evil forces from Gujarat. It was this "two passport issue" which silenced him and his cohorts.

Could it be that we are witnessing a revolt against the UPA? For its anti national activities. Cause all the revelations now going against the CBI and the Ishrat case is seemingly falling apart.

Or is this just the tip of the iceberg with the INC hoping to spring a surprise against Modi, leading to a sudden death type situation.

There could be service rivalry as well since CBI and IB both are manned by IPS officers at higher level and batches are trained together leading to good networking. But then all of them are in line for same bouquet of top posts.

And if IB was also involved in encounter what MMS SIL was doing . He is a Guj Cadre officer and was special director and director for long years in IB before Asif took charge. Asif should have denied access to officers by CBI as intelligence apparatus is exposed leading to unintended consequences. Morarji Desai destroyed RAW singlehandedly so that it remained crippled till date. Now IB will be in deep shit if this is not stemmed.
Internal security would be doomed if that happens as none of the newly set up agencies has the reach of IB and the amount of dirt they have on politicians can easily cook their goose.

Laundering linen in public is the last straw that conggons need.

Four BSF men suspended for shooting Bangladeshi smugglers

The Border Security Force (BSF) has suspended four of its personnel in connection with the alleged killing of two suspected Bangladeshi cattle smugglers on the West Bengal border, an official said Friday.

"An assistant sub inspector, a head constable and two constables have been suspended in connection with the killing of two Bangladeshi cattle traders in the intervening night of June 11-12 across the south Bengal frontier," a BSF officer said.

A high level court of enquiry has also been ordered into the shootout.

Was NIA told to omit Ishrat from Headley probe?
The biggest mystery in the Ishrat Jahan case is why the Home Ministry had allegedly told the National Investigation Agency not to include this angle to the David Headley probe.

....
Intelligence Bureau officials who have been regularly in touch with the Federal Bureau of Investigation say that there is no doubt that Headley was well aware of who Ishrat Jahan was. Sources tell rediff.com that the FBI questioning of Headley not only involved the 26/11 attack, but also the Lashkar-e-Tayiba’s plans in India. Headley does speak about the atrocities committed against Muslims not only in India but in other parts of the world. He spoke about how the Lashkar was planning on targeting some leaders in India who were believed to be anti Muslim. It was in this context that he tells the FBI about a woman suicide bomber called Ishrat Jahan.

...When everyone sought answers, it is quite surprising that the NIA did not choose to push the questioning on this angle further despite Headley knowing a lot about her and the case. Sources say that the problem was not with the NIA and they in fact had done an in depth questioning of Headley regarding Ishrat. However the problem began when they returned to India from the US and discussed the matter with the Home Ministry. The final report on Headley was put out only after discussion with the Home Ministry and some officers point out that the NIA was told not to mention too much about the Ishrat Jahan angle.

...The Intelligence Bureau on the other hand would do everything under the sun to prove that the input was correct regarding Ishrat and her accomplices. They have already written to the CBI and are also pointing out that the NIA does have details and they need to be questioned about the same despite them not mentioning the same in their final report after the questioning of David Headley.

Good news!

Aerial surveillance to check crime in 7 major cities
Helicopters with gun-toting commandos and sophisticated surveillance gadgets will soon keep vigil over seven major cities in the country under a Home Ministry project aimed at checking crime.

Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmedabad will get helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles fitted with high-powered cameras, sensors and other surveillance equipment under the Home Ministry's Safe City Project.

The ministry has said in its latest guidelines that it is essential to have surveillance from air with regard to law and order and other crime-related activities in the cities.

"The air surveillance can be obtained by positioning various equipment i.e. balloons, UAVs, helicopters etc. which should have gadgets like cameras, sensors etc. to cater to specialised requirements on the occasion," the guidelines said.

The data (video, audio, text) collected from these devices should be fed to the Command Control Centre for necessary action for both preventive and post-incident operations.

These elements can also act as a deterrent for criminal elements.

The Home Ministry said the cities should be covered with a network of CCTVs. The network must cover vital public places and critical infrastructure.

It could also cover public places like airports, railway stations, metro stations, bus stations, public hospitals, universities, schools and colleges, major crossings and roundabout on the roads and important government buildings.

"Special care may be taken to cover areas which are more densely populated or prone to crimes. The CCTV network should be based on wireless system to the extent possible, except in certain places which are important from national security point of view, wherein it may be advisable to share data openly," the Home Ministry guidelines said.

They said apart from installation of CCTV by government agencies, it is equally important that private sector is also encouraged to play an important role in surveillance.

The ministry suggested that private sector industries and business houses may be exhorted to install similar and compatible CCTV network from where data generated could be transmitted to the central command and control room.

The Safe City Project or Mega City Project was introduced by the government under the Modernisation of Police Forces Scheme in 2005-06.

The latest guidelines have been framed with a view to equip police in the mega cities so as to enable them meet to challenges of the modern time.

The Home Ministry said technical upgrading is a key factor in enhancing the efficiency of police.

At the same time, the importance of the human factor, i.e. the man power manning the police system should not be underplayed and it also needs to be upgraded in terms of its capacity by imparting relevant and regular training.

The idea is to have the best combination of man and machine, which can deliver results in the present context of multifaceted challenges faced by the police.

"The final outcome of these guidelines is to ensure proper implementation of the project in the major cities of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. As a result of this, police will find itself well-equipped for preventing crime and will be better able to respond to and detect crime," the ministry said

Just an anecdote from a few years ago:- I was travelling in a bus in B'lore when I saw police constable board the bus along with a criminal(probably a petty thief) in handcuffs. The constable bought tickets for the both of them and then chained him to the handle bar. Was wondering if there was no squad car to take them.
IMHO the money will be much better spent in getting stuff like additional patrol vehicles, forensic labs, basic arms and training.

From the end of 40's and more intensively from late 50's to mid 60's, the "centre" needed Soviet support or began to lobby on that connection. This was the period - [late into JLN's tenure] when there was a volte face on the CPI [dismissing the Kerala gov and then suddenly warming up]. The gov undertook a conscious multi-prong strategy to recruit and pamper selected brains from the communist side, trying to entice the more radical ones out of the country into the safe and waiting hands of a matching initiative in UK through their uni's, and placing the more tame ones in the country within larger institutional setups where they could be watched properly.

This was a time-tested British method of digestion of radical elements who might be turned into useful strategic objects. Many would therefore be found in highly pampered official positions, that would satisfy the power/privilege hunger that drove many of these radicals into leftism in the first place [real "revolutionaries" would be expected not to be digested so] - and their ego and mental health would be allowed to be looked after by allowing them those satisfactions - like allowing certain messages to pass through teh censor, or certain pseudo-sociological analyses to appear as parts of judgements, etc.

Ultimately they would serve as unwitting double agents used and manipulated more by the state than by their professed ideology.

Regular occurence at least in Karnataka and Kerala. You got it right, there are not enough vehicles to transport prisoners. Generally the local Armed Police unit supplies the guards for the "prisoner escort". And the usage of handcuffs is also not very clear. Many court orders say that handcuffs should not be used especially if it has a humiliating effect on the prisoner. Also in Kerala, the police men are not supposed to handcuff the prisoner to the vehicle. This is because if the vehicle meets with an accident, the prisoner would not be able to save his life. But if a large number of prisoners have to be transported to one single location, buses are used. Bangalore's Magistrate courts at Mayo Hall have a couple of police buses parked. This is to ferry remand/undertrial prisoners.

4,000 non-tribals flee Meghalaya town post-violence

Samudra Gupta Kashyap :
Guwahati, Mon Jun 24 2013

Mob violence following rumours about the rape of a mentally challenged tribal girl in Tura on Friday has triggered a mass exodus of non-tribals from the West Garo Hills district in Meghalaya.

While three of the accused were rescued by the police after they were severely assaulted, one was found dead due to critical injuries. However, medical tests dismissed rape and said that the girl was molested.

In the last two days, thousands of non-tribals, mostly from adjoining Dhubri and Goalpara districts in Assam, have left the place. West Garo Hills SP M K Singh said most of them who have fled were working in coal mines and construction projects, and as domestic helps. "Since Friday evening between 3,000 to 4,000 have people have left," the SP said.

Curfew has been imposed in the district to quell violence. The police resorted to firing in several places on Friday evening. Curfew was relaxed from 9 am to 5 pm in Tura on Sunday as no untoward incidents were reported on Saturday, the SP said.

West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi had convened a peace meet on Saturday. It was attended by the representatives of the Mothers' Union, youth groups, church leaders and the local MLA.

The meeting condemned the incidents of molestation and mob violence. It appealed to the society to ensure peace and harmony in the district.

A series of rape cases have been reported from Meghalaya in the last few months. On December 13, 2012, a high school girl was gangraped in Williamnagar.

In this case, it turned out that 14 of 17 the accused were juveniles. Two weeks ago, Nurul Islam, a police SI, was arrested on charges of raping two girls who had managed to escape from the custody. It had led to massive public outcry in Tura.

In Shillong, the police on Friday arrested Mohammad Shahid Ahmed (27) following allegations that Ahmed had attempted to rape two minor girls on June 21. He was arrested after the girls' mother lodged an FIR with the police. The girls whom he tried to rape are eight and nine years old.

Curfew relaxed in Meghalaya

Sunday, June 23, 2013

Shillong: Curfew was relaxed for eight hours in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district Sunday, two days after it was imposed following mob violence after an alleged bid to molest a mentally challenged girl, an official said.

The girl was allegedly harassed by five migrant labourers, sparking Friday's mob violence in Tura, which left one person dead, police said.

The curfew was relaxed Sunday for eight hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. "The night was peaceful and there were no reports of any untoward incidents in the curfew-bound areas," Pravin Bakshi, deputy commissioner of West Garo Hills district, told.

The authorities also warned "mischief makers" that they would be booked under the Meghalaya Maintenance of Public Order and Meghalaya Preventive Detention Act if found instigating communal tension.

Bakshi said the district authorities will monitor the law and order situation during the curfew relaxation and further ease the curbs accordingly.

On Saturday, the Meghalaya government ordered a magisterial inquiry into the violence in the district headquarters. A migrant labourer from Assam's Dhubri district was killed and three vehicles were set ablaze in the incident.

The mentally challenged girl was allegedly molested by five labourers. Three of them were caught by the mob, while two managed to flee.

Mohammad Raju Alam, Nehar Ali and Babul Sheikh were beaten up by the mob before police arrived and arrested them.
The three have been admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

One dead, several hurt as bikers go berserk
Jun 26, 2013, 02.33AM IST TNN

NEW DELHI: There was chaos on city streets late Monday night as around 2,000 bikers in festive mood zipped dangerously through traffic and showed off stunts, resulting in the death of one rider and injuries to several others, including two policemen who were targeted with stones.

Traffic came to a halt at several places as hundreds of commuters returning home late were caught in a frenzy with the bikers pulling wheelies, weaving in and out of lanes and even stopping cars. Some reportedly jumped on bonnets of cars and banged on the windows.

The 'wild' celebrations again exposed the poor preparedness of police who had reason to expect chaos because of Shab-e-Barat festivities, which on previous years has seen dangerous driving late at night.

The worst hit areas were India Gate, Connaught Place, ITO crossing, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi Gate, Pragati Maidan and Sunder Nagar. The mayhem spilled over to the BRT around Oberoi flyover as the cops tightened vigil at India Gate and ITO areas.

Police said a biker lost his life when he, along with two other bikes, jumped a red light and collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. Two policemen sustained injuries in stone pelting by a mob while several bikers hurt themselves while performing stunts on roads, cops said.

Police claimed they took strict action and detained 11 men, seized 90 bikes and registered two criminal cases at Tilak Marg and Mandir Marg police stations under sections of rioting, causing hurt to a public servant and obstructing a public servant.

Some of the seized bikes are suspected to be stolen, police said. Four men were arrested and others detained under the Delhi Police Act. The traffic police said 234 challans were issued through the night - 93 of them in the southern range, 97 in central , 28 in western, 13 eastern and three in the northern range. All challans pertained to dangerous driving, triple riding and driving without helmet.

Cops said 40 pickets had been set up and around 100 traffic personnel were posted there along with local police and PCR.

On Monday, police had said they had made adequate arrangements by distributing pamphlets in colonies asking youths to refrain from such activities and roped in elderly people through community policing so that the youths are convinced. However, the efforts clearly went in vein.

The tone for the night set in around 9pm when bikers began to assemble in different areas. The situation remained under control in the first two hours due to the heavy police presence. However, all hell broke lose after midnight when police presence decreased. People could see three or even four men riding on one bike.

Commuters returning home late at night had harrowing stories to tell. Utkarsh Anand, an engineering student, was travelling back with his mother after having dinner at Connaught Place. "I started at 11.30pm in my car and reached home at 1.15am and thanked my stars. I was scared and my mother began to cry seeing the mob go crazy. When I signalled two bikers to move from the way, they began to bang on my window panes. There were policemen on the side of the road who were doing just nothing," he said.

Many women TOI spoke to said they had the worse time of their lives reaching home. Many women driving alone could be seen in tears. Families were shocked after the mob stopped autos and even began to do summersaults on their car's bonnets.

With bikers weaving through lanes, motorists had to brake often. Many cars had minor collisions. "Why were the police so helpless?" asked Rekha, a housewife who was returning home with her husband after watching a movie at Connaught Place.

Even commuters coming from other parts of the city were caught in the frenzy as they crossed India Gate, which had been virtually turned into a fortress.

The bikers went on the rampage after police began to seize their vehicles and detain them around midnight.

The same happened at Bangalore City outskirts as well (on Hosur Road, between Madivala and Elec. City). Entire gangs of boys with skull caps on were sitting on the railings and watching their bretheren doing the stunts. Not a single soul inside the mosque. Earlier the location used to Inner Ring Road. The fellow who got shot dead at the KK&G Sub-Area commander's quarters was from one of these gangs.

^ This annual Shab-e-Baraat "ritual" of destruction occurs everywhere and it has been going on for too long. No sooner than a group of such capped people assemble in the dark, they break all caps and limits of destruction. Here is translation of report from Saamna newspaper.

http://epaper.hindisaamana.com/Details. ... =111524250
http://epaper.hindisaamana.com/Details. ... =112951250
Muslims in Mumbai returning from mosques caused destruction at various railway stations on the night of Shab-e-Baraat on Monday. As similar events occurred last year, there was a strong contingent of RPF deployed at main stations. In this year's rioting/stone-pelting, one RPF constable was injured at Bandra and another RPF personnel was injured at Mumbai Central. The RPF arrested 23 and fined each of them Rs. 1000. Out of this, 9 were let off after paying fines, while the rest have to spend one month in jail. As per WR Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Rajendra Rupanwar, the railways suffered damages of Rs. 10 lakh to their property. The Western Railway had arranged two special trains after the last midnight local train to transport the people home. (!!!)
From this article, one can know that two trains can materialize in the dead of the night to take back people, who have the ticket to destruct railway property, home safely!

Goons running amok or budding Islamists flexing muscle?

By Jay Bhattacharjee on June 27, 2013

This article is not intended to be either alarmist or provocative. It is the simple truth, however uncomfortable it may be to those who prefer to be couch potatoes in the purported safety of their cocoons. Because what happened on the night of the June 25 – 26 in the heart of our country’s administrative epicentre is clearly an indication of where we are headed if we do not take portents seriously.

On the night of June 25, my wife and I were driving back to our home in South Delhi. To give some relevant details, we took Sri Aurobindo Marg, the road that leads from the Medical Institute (AIIMS) to the IIT crossing and beyond. From the very beginning of the stretch, we noticed very dangerous things happening. Scores of motor cycles, invariably with more than two passengers on each, were racing down the road at very high speeds, forcing aside other traffic. Their contempt for pedestrians (admittedly few at that hour) was blatant. The bikers were all young men (certainly not elderly) and all of them sported traditional Muslim headgear, the white skullcap. They were performing dangerous stunts, including the usual “rear-wheel drive” they must have seen from C-Grade Hollywood films featuring Hell’s Angels and assorted gangs.

We really did not know what was going on, except that it was most unsavoury and unpleasant. Then we saw a number of police pickets along the stretch; all of them were inactive and generally having a yawn. The motorcycle goons did not attack us overtly but they were certainly threatening and making intimidating gestures while riding alongside. I rolled down my window and told the offending ones that I would run them down if they continued their threats. This may have had some effect, since they drove off to bully other cars. Our experience was certainly less frightening than other incidents reported in Wednesday’s papers. Around the India Gate area, there were people who complained that the thugs had jumped on their car bonnets and monkeyed around.

To return to our experience, the mystery was resolved when we came to the Green Park Masjid. The bikers were heading to the masjid which was already crowded, with people spilling on to the street. Here too, the police pickets were doing nothing to control their criminal behaviour. Delhi’s Finest, who had no hesitation beating up sleeping women and children mercilessly at the Ramdev rally last year, were lolling around and watching the open goondaism with complete disinterest.

Orders from above, or complicity, or sloth or a combination of all three? In any of these four scenarios, the signs are ominous – of clear and present danger for our country and ancient civilisation. I have no hesitation in postulating the thesis that militant Islamic forces are testing the mettle and resolve of the Indian Republic, every now and then, with carefully-strategised acts of provocation. And on each occasion, they have succeeded in showing up our civilian administrative apparatus in its true colours – a floundering vessel manned by hopelessly incompetent and weak flunkeys.

In January 2011, extremist Islamic forces had taken the Mickey out of the Indian state. Again, the confrontation took place in the heart of the nation’s capital and the Indian republic retreated ignominiously. To give a background for the readers – the Delhi High Court had ordered that the authorities (in this case, the DDA) were permitted to demolish a mosque illegally constructed on public land. The High Court order was passed after many years of deliberation and hearings. However, this was not good enough for an assorted bunch of mullahs and politicians from parties like the Congress and the Samajwadi Party. Two days of open battle followed between inflamed and fanatic Muslim mobs, and a palpably defensive security apparatus, clearly under instructions from high above, not to react. A friend who stays near the affected area told me then that it was a “semi-war” situation, Calcutta 1946 redux. I had referred to it as the beginning of the campaign for the resurrection of the Great Delhi Caliphate.

Similarly, a few months ago, lakhs of Muslims in Kolkata held a most inflammatory meeting in the heart of the city, the Maidan, to protest against (and now hold your breath) the war crimes trials in Bangladesh against the razakars and pro-Pakistani militia that aided and abetted the Pakistani Army’s genocide of Bengalis during the 1971 liberation war. In other words, Indian Muslims and their ideological masters were rooting for persons who had fought the Indian armed forces, not to mention their fellow Bengalis.

The Calcutta “protesters” were brought in buses from all parts of West Bengal and shouted the most virulent Islamist slogans. Their banners were no less incendiary. Naturally, the Mamata Banerjee Government did nothing to either control the patently illegal gathering or to ask the Muslim leadership in West Bengal to dilute its posture. A young Army officer posted in Fort William, across the Maidan, told me that he, his brother officers, and the jawans were extremely upset by the disgusting spectacle played out before their eyes.

In this entire dismal litany, we are, of course, looking only at the most egregious incidents that have somehow caught public attention. This includes the desecration of the war memorial in Mumbai last year by another murderous Muslim mob protesting against another imaginary grievance. The culprits who committed this most heinous offence were caught on camera but one does not know how the Indian state and its justice system have dealt with them.

There are many who will pretend that all is hunky dory. That the goons on Tuesday night were a bunch of misguided youngsters. Or that this was an isolated incident perpetrated by irresponsible Muslim elements. I can almost hear the secularist storm troopers coming out with drivel like this. However, if the rest of the country’s educated and informed citizens subscribe to these fantasies, it would mean living in self-denial and delusion.

The official leadership of Indian Islam is now in a state of open confrontation with the Indian state. These people have given up all pretensions of being Indian and the only identity they can and will espouse is that of Islam. The alliance of forces in this abysmal and appalling scenario is disturbing and dangerous. Whenever the mullahs challenged the Indian republic and got away clean with their insurrection, they were instigated, aided and abetted by the Congress and other motley groups.

As the open season of Islamo-fascism against India continues, it is time to remember one of the greatest thinkers of the last century:

Don’t rejoice in his defeat, you men!
Although the world stood up and stopped the ********
The bitch that bore him
is in heat again.

You know what is really grim, an assertion was made in that "secularism" thread that Muslims in the rest of India don't care about Pakistan, Kashmir, and other ummah issues.

This assertion was made with no supporting evidence and in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary as documented by the above article (which is just a very small sample of what goes on in India).

As for not caring about Pakistan & Ummah issues, to quote from the above:
Similarly, a few months ago, lakhs of Muslims in Kolkata held a most inflammatory meeting in the heart of the city, the Maidan, to protest against (and now hold your breath) the war crimes trials in Bangladesh against the razakars and pro-Pakistani militia that aided and abetted the Pakistani Army’s genocide of Bengalis during the 1971 liberation war. In other words, Indian Muslims and their ideological masters were rooting for persons who had fought the Indian armed forces, not to mention their fellow Bengalis.
Now all this was on news at least online & was posted on this very forum but we have to pretend that we live in an alternate reality for the sake of secularism.

What it illustrates is that secularism turns peoples minds (if they had any to start with) into mush.

I say leftism/secularism kills the left brain. So logic is dead.

Yes, the correlation between low IQ and leftist thought is quite interesting. But one could also argue that the causality is reverse - ie folks with low 'logical' ability are more likely to be attracted to the left.

I have seen this motorcycle gangs in Malappuram too, but those were holding IUML and the mandatory green crescent flags. It is a kind of Dar-Ul-Islam psyche, some perception that they the faithfool have driven out and cleansed the kufar and are now free to strut on the roads as if their own. But that was a political rally. I feel this one in dilli is same too. Maybe MIM of hyderabad has harnessed a few thugs in dilli too.

this doesn't feel like ordinary youth just boisterously going to mosque, this is a political statement by a political organization. There is political backup and hence police is inactive.

Actually these muslim bike gangs are all over Kerala.

I hope no one gets into an accident when these folks are going crazy. They have no qualms about lynching the Kaffir. Its just a matter of time before they turn into lynch mobs (I predict in the next 5 years).

In Kerala, there are many Islamic "conferences", they have their agenda usually written on a poster. Its usually an eye opener to read it. One of them went "Restoring India's pride by returning it to the right rulers". This is pretty normal.

Islam is in full bloom in Kerala for sure, into the political weapon that it is.

This lady seems to exclusively report on and only on Narendra Modi, BJP, RSS with themes of Hindutva, right wing conspiracies and well, justice in Gujarat.

They were performing dangerous stunts, including the usual “rear-wheel drive” they must have seen from C-Grade Hollywood films featuring Hell’s Angels and assorted gangs.

.........

I witnessed this spectacle in person since I happened to be driving through the same areas. It happened around midnight on 25th june. Whatever the author is saying is truth. Thousands of Jihadis on Bikes and lorries blocking roads and shouting allahu akbar.

The best part is that some of these areas( safdarjung airport, Indiagate etc ) are not even 1 km from PM's residence. I drove more than 25 kms inside Delhi that night and I saw less than 4 policemen on duty. The same police who is ever ready to challaan and bash Ordinary Hindus/Indics for the most frivolous reasons.

Also this was clearly political mobilisation meant to show islamic power. There were many bikes with UP and Haryana numberplates which clearly shows high level of coordination and networking.

I got to tell you that night Indian State simply disappeared. These jihadi bikers could have gotten away with anything then.

Note to Hindus : Indian Govt./Indian state no longer cares or even exists for you. Hindus need to become more resilient and tough if they want to survive in future India with respect and dignity. Prepare yourself. Form Community level groups/militias that can protect you and your family in case of a showdown(which will come eventually). Survive. Resist. Fight. Win

Bail for pregnant Maoist
But jail for cancer patient Sadhvi Pragya

Maoist sympathiser Sheetal Sathe was granted bail from the Bombay High Court on Thursday, June 27, 2013, on humanitarian grounds (being in an “advanced stage of pregnancy”) after the Public Prosecutor’s office did not oppose the bail plea. Sathe becomes the third Maoist to receive bail from Justice Abhay Thipsay; the State was represented by additional public prosecutor Sangeeta Shinde.

The ease with which Sathe received bail has caused heart burning in some quarters as Special Public Prosecutor Rohini Salian repeatedly opposed bail for Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur even after she was diagnosed with cancer and refused treatment on grounds of harassment. Now the same office has found magnanimity and compassion for a Maoist sympathiser.

Sadhvi Pragya denied bail, allowed to attend father’s funeral

Salian ‘vehemently’ disputed the ‘Cancer diagnosis certificate’ dated July 5, 2012, issued by Dr Sameer Pathan of the Indian Cancer Society attached to Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. While opposing bail for Sadhvi Pragya, she went to the extent of creating an impression that the tissues examined by Dr Pathan may not belong to the Sadhvi but could belong to someone else!

The truth, in fact, was that the tissues were taken out by Dr Rajput strictly on the basis of an order passed by Special NIA Court Bhopal, and Dr Rajput had filed his own affidavit before the Bombay High Court in the matter of Sadhvi Pragya’s bail application No. 1679/2012.

The double standards applied by the public prosecutor’s office to the bail pleas of two women prisoners espousing different ideologies is a glaring example, if one were needed, of what ails the Indian State and its judicial system.

Sheetal Sathe is an alleged Maoist sympathiser and member of the Pune-based Kabir Kala Manch. She and her husband, Sachin Mali, were charged under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), and surrendered on April 2, 2013, outside the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha. They were handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). The duo is among 15 persons charged on April 17, 2011, for being members of and supporting and recruiting for the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist).
