Anujan ji, thank you for the excellent summaries.

Not sure if this has been reported before.....some pure fun from the land of pure...
===================================================================
A high-ranking Pakistani diplomat reportedly cannot be appointed ambassador to Saudi Arabia because in Arabic his name translates into a phrase more appropriate for a ***** star, referring to the size of male genitals, Foreign Policy reported.

The Arabic transaltion of Akbar Zeb to "biggest d**k" has overwhelmed Saudi officials who have refused to allow his post there.

Zeb has run into this problem before when Pakistan tried to appoint him as ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, where he was rejected for the same reason, according to Foreign Policy.
Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/story/2010/02/04 ... z2YKOpbZT2

Owing to an unfortunate matter of translation, Pakistani diplomat Akbar Zeb will not become the next Pakistani ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

Mr Zeb's credentials are impressive: he is the former envoy to the United States, India, South Africa and Canada. But despite his impressive career, his name proved to be an immovable hurdle...........................................

When translated into Arabic, it means "Large penis".

In a region that stresses modesty in public, this could not stand.

Akbar is a customary Muslim name meaning "great", and while Zeb is not an uncommon Pakistani name, in Arabic it is a slang
reference to the penis and never used in polite conversation.

Obviously the diplomat's Arab hosts felt that references to "His Excellency the Big Dick" would not go over well.

A Saudi cultural critic said, "The media wouldn't dare to publish a name like this So every time he would be in the media they
would have to face the name issue, and it would make it difficult to work with him.

That would be an embarrassment for Pakistan."

Said an analyst, "You cannot just pronounce that name. It's too awkward.

How would he be announced at events? How would he be written about?"

According to the Arab Times, this is the third instance of an Arabic-speaking country refusing Mr. Zeb's ambassadorship David Kenner of Foreign Policy magazine wrote that the issue was a source of embarrassment for Pakistan. "One can only assume that submitting Zeb's name to Arabic-speaking countries is some unique form of punishment designed by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry," he wrote, "Or the result of a particularly egregious cock- up."

Aurang in Persian means wisdom, also throne

Its wise guy
or leave it to your imagination.

Bu then what does Zeb-un-Nissa mean?
She was his daughter whom he improsioned in Salimgarh Fort where incidentally the INA undertirals were also housed in 1946.

"زیب" in Persian-Arabic script can be pronounced "zeeb" or "zeb". In farsi, zeeb means "beauty", "adornment", etc. (In Farsi, Aurangzeb's name is pronounced "Aurangzeeb"). In India/Urdu it gets pronounced as "zeb". So "zeb-un-nisa" is a hybrid Perso-Arabic name meaning "beauty of woman". Indo-Islamic names sometimes curiously mix up Persian and Arabic words. E.g. "Sohrabuddin" - "the Sohrab of the deen"! Indo-Islam is downstream from the upper echelon Irani and Turani ashrafs, who are downstream from the highest echelon Arabs.

There is a long but interesting read. Please read in full:
The evolving Taleban: Changes in the insurgency’s DNA

http://www.afghanistan-analysts.org/the ... gencys-dna
The movement’s command structure has seen profound change – partly in response to the US wiping out whole layers of the old, mid-level insurgent leadership through ‘capture-or-kill’ operations, but also because of direct interference by Pakistan’s intelligence apparatus. As of yet, the old Emirate command structure remains active in the Taleban’s southern heartland, but the east, Loya Paktia and the north have all seen the impact of Pakistani efforts to select and promote its own proxies within the Taleban, men who have been given special training and, frequently, Pakistani citizenship. This appears to be an attempt to change the Taleban’s DNA says new AAN analyst, Claudio Franco, who has studied the insurgency for the last decade.

There are other examples of operatives like Ahmad and Sadiq, all involving well-trained and relatively educated Taleban officials who have successfully ‘infiltrated’ civil society. Rather than individual cases, however, what matters first and foremost is the common denominator that differentiates them from most other insurgents: these operatives are all dual nationals, and Pakistani documents were provided upon completion of their training programme and seldom, if ever, as a result of a normal naturalisation process.

A Pakistani passport guarantees a future for these insurgents whatever the situation in Afghanistan in the years to come. At the same time, it alters their nature as insurgents, marking their role as agents of a foreign country active within the Afghan insurgency. As a rule of thumb, the immediate families of this class of operatives reside across the Durand Line in Pakistan; these families receive support in kind, and wages are often paid directly to the family. Needless to say, such an arrangement makes their families ‘hostages’ of that country’s security apparatus.

It also keeps the men themselves primarily linked to Pakistan’s security apparatus, rather than to the Taleban leadership or to whatever ideals or aims the insurgency might have. Moreover, with their families’ legal status and welfare depending directly on the official’s services, such a system pre-empts the possibility of reconciliation with the Afghan government – if it is not desired by Pakistan – once and for all.
What the Pakis have achieved in Afghanistan is stunning. Essentially they have taken a generation of youth, indoctrinated in madrassas, trained them to serve as parts of a militaristic administrative structure and held their families hostage in Pakistan to guarantee their compliance. They are slowly but surely conquering Afghanistan from the inside.

Yes, most on BRF knew that the US would end up losing in Afghanistan. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if you don't attack Pakistan and the PA in particular then there is no way you can win. You also have to overwhelm the area with boots if you want to stamp out these jihadis like we are doing in Kashmir. All their super duper special forces and fancy shmansy military technology like Apache helicopters, drones, etc didn't end up achieving anything. Just give a jihadi an ak-47 and ammo, walkie talkie, some food and cash, and he'll blend in and squat in the country for years bleeding the US financially. Saw so many soldiers returning back completely demoralized. They were just glad to be back.

Director, Military Land & Cantonments said there was no conspiracy as to how the land was acquired without ID, an illegal construction of the house was made and no taxes paid. Said it was routine negligence and corruption rather than something sinister.
At the height of the court drama involving the 'better' Haqqani and the snale-oil salesman and the self-anointed security expert which dragged the then PM Gilani saheb into the scandal, a very angry PM asked in responding to the Pakistani visas issued to US spies, "Who gave the visa to Osama bin Laden ?". It was not sarcastic as many thought. It was pregnant with meaning.
Anujan wrote:* Bali Bomber Umar Patek was caught in Abbottabad. Likely same Al Qaeda network helped OBL too. But nobody wondered what Umar was doing in Abbottabad or who was helping him there.
Umar Patek was arrested almost three months (January) prior to May 2 and the juy is still out on whether his arrest confirmed anything about OBL's presence in Abbottabad or not. Apart from Bali bombing, he has been blamed for other terror attacks also. In Oct. 2006, Filippino police filed murder charges against the local Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Umar Patek.

Art of Beggernomic Negotiations

They are just exercising their religious right to beg. No shame in it. Sufi Fakies and Fukres are like this only. Even in prayers their Hands are spread asking, demanding , bargaining , nothing new here. GOP should tax ine dollar on every Animal Sex Search (ASS) and they will soon end up with surpulus for Jeehard instead of this relgiously stubborn Deficit ..
