Another Cashmere de... de.. article, this time by Bruce Reidel :((

Agree with Bruce Reidel. For Pakistan to become normal state India should give them Cashmere but before that Amreeka should also consider giving Yindians a part of Amreeka. We all knw Yindia is a caasht ridden dirt poor country where 20000000 million people die of hunger every day. It is as dangerous to world peace as Pakistan is. For India to become a normal state, Texaas should be given to Yindians onlee.

Sartaj Aziz visiting Kabul. I doubt there will be any fence mending.
Sartaj Aziz is trotting out the "Pakistan does not control the taliban, but does have leverage on them and can request peace" line. Anyone remember the "Pakistan does not control the Mujahideen in Kargil, but does have leverage on them and can request them to withdraw" line the same Sartaj Aziz gave when discussing Kargil ceasefire in 1999?

British Foreign secretary meets Nawaz Sharif - DT
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday apprised British Foreign Secretary William Hague of the initiatives taken to improve relations with India, including the revival of back channel diplomacy and the resumption of dialogue process.

Prime Minister Nawaz urged the United Kingdom to continue supporting Pakistan in its efforts to secure GSP Plus status with the European Union.

He was talking to British Foreign Secretary William Hague who called on him at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Prime Minister Nawaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to support all initiatives aimed at promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

William Hague appreciated Pakistan’s role for peace in the region, particularly in Afghanistan
What are the messages coming out of the above ?

Ostensibly, this meeting was not a regular exchange of information between two nations during normal times. This was certainly geared towards discussing the Afghan situation where Pakistan is once again acting as a stumbling block through the withdrawal of the Taliban from the talks in Doha. That was why the British PM and his Foreign Secretary have visited Islamabad in very quick succession.

As Afghanistan is the central and possibly the only theme in the talks, anything else alluded to above must be interpreted in that context. This is particularly so since Pakistan always demands extensive quid-pro-quo from its 3½ Friends even for small favours. One can therefore understand easily, in this critical juncture when once again the US and its allies are at the mercy of Pakistan, what Pakistan would have demanded from its Friends. The clues are above, IMO.

Nawaz Sharif's informing the British Foreign secretary of India-Pakistan talks is therefore significant. There have been a spate of articles from those who espouse the thinking of the British and US governments (such as Dalrymple, Bruce Riedel et al), that Afghanistan has currently evolved into a proxy war between India and Pakistan, that Pakistan felt very insecure by a domineering India and that the resolution of the Kashmir issue to the satisfaction of Pakistan would once-and-for-all settle the 'enduring hostility' between these two nuclear neighbours. The timing, the frequency and the authorship of these articles are all easy giveaways as to the intention behind them. Nawaz Sharif would certainly have demanded UK's intervention in this matter. To the external world, this has been couched in diplomatese by referring to 'Track II diplomacy starting off'. This also sends a signal to India as to what to expect in their next session with the british diplomats. Nawaz Sharif, by openly referring to India (which the British Foreign secretary would certainly not have done so), has ensured that the message goes to the South Block.

Even during David Cameron's visit about three weeks back, Nawaz Sharif demanded GSP+ status and he has reiterated the same now. Clearly, Pakistan is striking a bargain deal here. The British Foreign Secretary's appreciation of Pakistan's contribution to 'peace in the region and particularly in Afghanistan' is the most laughable and unconvincing statement which he should have struggled to make with a straight face. But, hats off to him because he made it with a demeanour of seriousness and without appearing to burst out in laughter.

TSP's Polio Virus Goes All the Way to Israel - DAWN

This is a warning signal to GoI which is planning to relax travel regime for Pakistanis. We cannot fritter away our polio-free status for these terrorists, even for a Nobel Peace Prize.
A polio virus found recently in southern Israel is exactly of the same kind as prevalent in Pakistan.

Dr Nima Abid, a representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Pakistan, while talking to Dawn expressed surprise over the development.

“We don’t have details how the virus travelled all the way to Israel.”

It may be noted that Pakistan and Israel have no diplomatic relations.

According to Dr Abid, “The virus genotype (genetic make-up) is the same as prevalent in Pakistan and this is what the research has indicated.”

He added: “We are amazed how it travelled all the way to Israel since the virus only existed in Pakistan. However, similar virus samples were also found in Egypt a few months back which had linkages with the Pakistan polio virus type-I (P-I).”

He said the virus was definitely from Pakistan since the genotype was from the same family of virus that existed in Pakistan.

For the last five years, there have been no cases of polio in Egypt, and in Israel much before that, said the WHO official.

He added that the laboratory at the National Institute of Health (NIH) was taking samples from every polio affected area and then performing its genotype tests. “And the P-I virus genotype is the same as prevalent in Pakistan.”

Dr Abid added: “The research is related to where the virus first travelled, either it first reached Egypt or Israel?”

The WHO official added that samples of same virus strain were also found in sewage in Cairo, Egypt, in December last year.

The WHO website relating to Israel, an update on polio, said: “Most positive WPV1 (polio virus) samples were detected from southern Israel. All viruses have been detected in sewage only.”

The website added: “WHO’s international travel and health recommends that all travellers to and from the polio-affected areas be fully vaccinated against polio. Three countries remain endemic for indigenous transmission of WPV: Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Additionally, in 2013, the Horn of Africa was also affected by an outbreak of WPV.”

About how a virus travelled, a senior physician in Islamabad, refusing to share his name with Dawn, observed: “Even an elderly person can transmit the polio virus as it remains in the intestinal track of humans for many days regardless of their age.”

He explained that polio virus entered the body through mouth by consuming water or food that has been contaminated with waste material (stool) from an infected person.

The physician said polio virus multiple in the human intestine and an infected person who passed the stool at any place can pass on the virus to other people.

When contacted, Mazhar Nisar, the spokesman for the EPI Cell, said the Pakistani authorities were very alert in limiting the travel of polio virus to any other region and running the national immunisation days and campaigns. :((

“If you look at our performance, the number of polio cases this year has gone down to a great extent compared to the corresponding period last year,” he maintained.

According to the polio cell figures, around 25 polio cases were reported from January to June 2012 in Pakistan. This year, the number is just 18 and most of the cases have been reported from Fata and different parts of Khyber Pkahtunkwa. He added: “We are facing security issues for polio vaccinators and refusal case from parents.”

The Paki complaining about getting deported from Israel should now realize why they are treated as untouchables. Countries don't want these guys inner pakistaniyat, literally and figuratively. Pakis will maintain that they are people with large hearts and are generous givers - polio, terrorism, retarded offspings, grooming, rape, shariah, stone age practices, 'muslim punch' etc.

Why, only through their exports. They will have to export terror more to India.

Now that GoP has decided not to absorb this amount as part of its debts, who is going to pay Dong Feng (or whatever) this 112 M USD ? The Chinese are known for tough methods to extract money.
SSridhar Ji :

1. In Pakistan every thing is full of “Rinky Dinks”.

2. It is true that Pakistan will be exporting More and More “IT” to India and as it is well known the Pakistani “IT” does not stand for Information Technology but “Islamic Terrorism”.

3. As regards the Pakistan Railways possibly defaulting on the US$ 112 Debt to Dong Feng etc. is concerned I am confident that Panda will extract its dues which will be painful BENDS i.e. “Both Ends”.

4. I would draw your attention to the Pakistan Economic Survey 2012-2013, Download the Statistical Appendices – Survey-1 Table 1.5 – and Spot the Rinky Dinks in the calculation of GNP and thereby the Per Capita Income! That is one of the examples of Pakistan being in "Dire" Economical and Financial Straits

P. S. : The Energy – especially Electricity – which Badmaash promised to solve in an Year then Two has now declared that it will be solved with the “Tenure” of the Present Regime.

I don’t think it will be “Sol ved” (Inspector Clouseau pronunciation) in Ten Years!

Parthasarathy is right, India will be thrown under the bus if (when!!) things don't go well.

West’s ‘blame it on India’ Afghan plan

Friday, 19 July 2013 | G Parthasarathy | in Edit
The US and its allies are looking for scapegoats. They will target India for their failure to contain the Pakistani Army's support to the Taliban. Self-styled historians like William Dalrymple are willing accomplices in the act

Bruce Riedel, arguably one of the best informed and most experienced American analysts on the AfPak region, recently wrote an interesting analysis titled, ‘Battle for the Soul of Pakistan’. Mr Riedel noted: “Pakistan also remains a state sponsor of terror. Three of the five most-wanted on America’s counter-terrorism list live in Pakistan. The mastermind of the Mumbai massacre and head of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hafeez Saeed, makes no effort to hide. He is feted by the army and the political elite, and calls for the destruction of India frequently and Jihad against America and Israel”. Mr Riedel adds: “The Head of the Afghan Taliban Mullah Omar shuttles between ISI safe houses in Quetta and Karachi. The Amir of Al Qaeda Ayman Zawahiri is probably hiding in a villa not much different from the one his predecessor (Osama bin Laden) was living in, with his wives and children, in Abbotabad until May 2011.”

Despite these realities, a new narrative seems to be creeping in, as uncertainties grow in Western capitals over how the much touted ‘end game’ will play out. American combat operations are progressively ending and Afghan Forces assuming full responsibility to take on the Taliban. There is uncertainty over whether Afghanistan’s presidential election scheduled in April 2014 will be free and fair and whether the new President will enjoy support cutting across ethnic lines, as President Hamid Karzai, a Durrani Pashtun, currently enjoys. As Pakistan remains an integral part of Western efforts to seek ‘reconciliation’ with the Taliban and for pull out equipment by the departing Nato forces, there appears to be a measure of Western desperation in seeking to persuade themselves and the world at large that there has been a ‘change of heart’ on the part of the Pakistan Army, which is now depicted as having given up its larger aim of seeking ‘strategic depth’ in Afghanistan through its Taliban protégés, led by Mullah Mohammed Omar.

As Mr Riedel notes, Mullah Omar remains an ISI protégé housed in ISI safe-houses in Pakistan. Pakistan’s real aim as a ‘facilitator’ of ‘reconciliation’ in Afghanistan became evident when Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Sartaj Aziz suggested to the Afghan Ambassador that the Taliban should be allowed to take control of provinces in Southern Afghanistan, as the process of ‘reconciliation’ commences. The Americans have only encouraged such thinking and added to the confusion by their over-anxiety to directly engage the Taliban, discarding earlier conditions for dialogue. Such obvious over-anxiety prompted the Taliban to up the ante and infuriate President Karzai by converting their premises in Doha to the Office of a virtual Government in exile.

The Americans and their Nato allies are evidently looking for scapegoats in case their ‘exit strategy’ fails, as it did in Vietnam. India now appears to be the new scapegoat in the event of such failure, as the US and its Nato allies seem to be bent on blaming India for their failures to deal with the Pakistani Army’s support for the Taliban, which could lead to an ignominious exit for them from Afghanistan. In this effort, British writers like the self-styled historian, William Dalrymple, seem to have become willing and enthusiastic accomplices. In a recent paper published by the Washington-based Brookings Institution, Mr Dalrymple avers: “While most observers in the West view the Afghanistan conflict as a battle between the US and Nato on the one hand and the Taliban and Al Qaeda on the other, in reality the hostility between India and Pakistan lies at the heart of the conflict in Afghanistan”.

As a self-styled historian, Mr Dalrymple conveniently forgets that the present AfPak tensions flowed from British colonial policies advocated by imperialists like Lord Curzon, whose ‘forward policy’ aimed to check growing Russian influence in Central Asia and also give the British undisputed and unchallenged control over the oil resources of the entire Persian Gulf. It was Imperial Britain that changed historical borders, depriving the Pashtuns of moving across their historical homeland by the imposition of the Durand Line in 1893. The problems between Pakistan and Afghanistan since the birth of Pakistan have been primarily because of past actions of Imperial Britain, as no Afghan Government has ever recognised the borders imposed by Imperial Britain. It is this border dispute that has bedevilled relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan since August 14, 1947, when Pakistan was born.

India has never taken sides on this Pakistan-Afghanistan dispute — a creation of British imperialism. The Afghans, in turn, have never taken sides on differences between India and Pakistan, except during the Taliban rule. In a recent paper I received, written by a former Director General of the ISI, the author noted, while referring to past Pakistan-Afghanistan relations: “The message from Kabul both in 1965 and 1971 (India-Pakistan conflicts) was that we could move all our troops from the Durand Line to the Eastern borders, where we needed them. We did precisely that and the Afghans ensured for the duration of the crises there was all quiet on the western front. The two countries have their good neighbourly troubles, but their stakes in each other’s security and stability are so high that neither would do anything deliberately to hurt the other’s interests”.

The likes of Mr Dalrymple and his American and European friends should remember that the religious extremism and violence that ail and afflict Pakistan and Afghanistan today, are direct outcomes of the backing given by the ISI, joined by the CIA and MI6, to armed fundamentalist groups, to wage jihad against the Soviet Union on Afghan soil and beyond. This, in turn, encouraged the ISI to believe that promotion of ‘militant islam’ is the ideal means to build influence within Pakistan, ‘bleed’ India and carry the forces of ‘radical Islam’ to Afghanistan and beyond. The US and the CIA paid the price for their earlier follies in Pakistan and Afghanistan, when attacks like those of 9/11 and the London bombings were planned and executed from safe havens in Afghanistan and along the Durand Line.

India will have to keep these realities in mind when fashioning its policies in Afghanistan. While we have played along with the Americans and complemented their policies in Afghanistan, there is need for New Delhi to be prepared to build new bridges in relations with its old partners like Russia, Iran and the Central Asian Republics, given the uncertainties and unpredictability in emerging American policies.

Corruption scorecard
According to the Transparency International’s Global Corruption Barometer 2013, released on July 9, a good 54 percent Pakistanis believe that corruption has increased a lot during the last two years. The police and public service (mainly revenue services) have scored the highest on the corruption perception index. Their score is 4.3 on a scale of 1-5 where 1 means clean and 5 means extremely corrupt.

Punjab govt to set up laptop plant: minister

LAHORE (Online) - Punjab government has decided to establish a high quality laptop manufacturing plant at Sundar Industrial Estate in collaboration with highly reputed international computer hardware companies.

This was revealed by the Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan while presiding over a briefing session in Higher Education Department here Thursday.

The measure would help facilitate the distribution of laptop to the brilliant students in the province of Punjab at a larger scale.

The Minister said there is an indigenous demand of 80 thousand laptops per annum in the province for free of cost distribution among the intelligent students of various private and public sector universities in the province while there is an ample demand from the federally administered universities also.

“We will establish our own brand of laptop which will be a pride for our younger generation. We will not compromise on technical quality of Pakistan assembled laptop although the Punjab government will offer a chunk of land on concession rate to the well reputed companies for installation of the proposed assembling plant”, he added.

The minister said that this step will prove a milestone in the process of transfer of the latest technology to Pakistan and we will be able to export laptops of our brand to Africa, Middle East and Central Asia with the passage of time, he added.

The meeting was informed that one lakh laptops were procured from DELL this year out of which 92 thousand laptops were distributed on merit to the students while 8 thousand laptops are present in the stock. 72 thousand laptops are to be procured for provision to the next session of fresh graduates in January 2014.

The Education Minister constituted a special committee for procurement and distribution of laptops for the current year.

The gender discriminatory aspect of Mohammaddenism displayed.in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Mohammadden Clerics ban women from entering market places unless chaperoned by closely related males. Dawn reports “the decision was taken because most unaccompanied women were becoming a source of spreading vulgarity, especially in the holy month of Ramaza”. Dawn also reported that this act was justified by a Mohammadden Cleric on religious grounds as well :

Women in Karak barred from leaving home without mehram

PESHAWAR: A committee of local clerics (ulema) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Karak district banned the entry in markets of women who are not accompanied by a mehram (close male member of the family -- specifically husband, brother, son, father etc)

The local clerics committee of Khattak Ittehad held a meeting at the Tehsil Masjid Karak, headed by former district amir of Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam Hafiz Abne Amin on Friday decided that women roaming in the city bazaars (markets) without male members of their family were a source of spreading vulgarity in the society and should be stopped.

The meeting which was also attended by Mualana Mir Zaqeem, Mualana Abdul Rehman and other clerics.

The clerics also met the local administration and the police to implement the decision but they had refused to facilitate the implementation of this decision.

When contacted, Mir Zaqeem who is the head of Khattak Ittehad, Karak city said that the decision was taken because most unaccompanied women were becoming a source of spreading vulgarity, especially in the holy month of Ramazan.

He added that a group of such women (without a mehram) were also involved in theft and robberies.

The Maulana further said that unaccompanied women in bazaars was not only against local Pakhtun culture but also against religious norms. …………………..

Article in Huffington Post on the Un-Diplomatic writings of a Diplomat from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan who has been making “hateful remarks against India and Indians on his Facebook page” at a time when “Pakistan and India, are struggling for better relations with each other”. Article should not be automatically taken as that written by a rare Pakistani origin individual who does not hate India and Indian’s as the author has a large axe to grind given that the Pakistani diplomat happened to block the authors Urdu language TV shows as panelists criticized Pakistan's Kashmir Policy & interference in Balochistan:

Teri Ummah to the Rescue. Pakis express deep concern over violence in Kashmir
deep concern over the killing of more than six people protesting the reported manhandling of a cleric and desecration of the Holy Quran by Indian troops
during a search for alleged militants
Based on a "report" that six (or more) innocent civilians who had nothing but love and good wishes in their minds for the infidels when they attacked a BSF garrison and were brutally gunned down (shot in the back, mian sahab, shot in the back!). The innocent muslims were only there to peacefully protest the "reported" manhandling of a cleric AND, for good measures, the desecration of al kitab which no believing muslim can tolerate, ever.

This "manhandling of a devout cleric" and "desecration of al kitab" is the first I have heard. Did the pakis throw this in for good measure?

They use merit rather than limited finances as the criteria for deciding who gets a free laptop.

I wouldn't be surprised if the offspring of the RAPES were getting a disproportionate share of the free laptops.

They have no money for fixing their railroad and/or increasing electricity generation capacity, but they can find the funds to give free laptops to the children of the rich who probably aren't paying very much in taxes.

Initially i soched that laptop Pakeezahs will be exported to traditional markets like Middaleast even Africa,Somalia etc (creating new markets) ... ala the Uzbek'eezhas plying their trade.

Then i realized they were serious.
Actually moi spidey sense still says that initial guess might become true.

Before Pakis can export any real computer Laptops, they will find exporting Pakeezah Laptops more lucrative and shiftover to that Bijiness.

Anyone who dealt with Pakis in bijiness knows they will sell their mothers far money.

Kufr: That's why your evil ancestors were poor in arithmetic. Couldn't contribute anything meaningful. Came up with a big fat zero! Learn from our horse-riding and wandering ancestors, the ayrabs, who spread light, knowledge and filial love all over the maghreb, oirope and India. Ever hear of el-Jabra, the original Einstein of the ayrab world?

Lesson in pakjabi arithmetic: The number of "super intelligent" pakjabi students stays constant at 80,000 per year (1% of the total student pakjabi population: kilick here for knowledge). That is a given. Its in al kitab. Dell, an infidel company, in its haste to please us pakjabis shipped....(er...manufactured in lalaland) 100,000 laptops last year, out of which 92,000 were freely distributed (which means 92,000 - 80,000 or 12,000 went "missing"; remember the finite number of super intelligent students in pakjab? Hain?). 8,000 laptops remained in a bonded, air conditioned warehouse owned by the el-shareif family (Kashmirwaley). Therefore, for the next year's distribution protocol, only 72,000 lap tops will be needed (80,000 minus 8000)(remember the finite number of "super intelligent" pakjabi students?). This way the balance sheet will ...er... balance out. Slate will be wiped clean. Fingers will not be pointed. IMF will not be brought in. There will be rivers of milk and honey, and every mujahid will get...but I digress. Now we only have to provide electricity for these machines to work.

Get it, infidel?! Now I keel you.

In a change of heart Pakis to work for Afghan peace, support no one group.
the country would hold talks with any group when it came to working for peace in the region and that it stood for a united Afghanistan
Pakistan was not allied with any particular group in the neighboring country
In an unrelated news, the president of SAADF (South Asian Association of Devious Foxes) stated that the group supported the idea of building foolproof chicken coops and offered their vast expertise of guarding henhouses to SAACC (South Asian Association of Clueless Chickens).

Hudson Institute’s Aparna Pande :
Pakistan's security establishment appears to be living in the 1980s where India is still the existential threat, the jihadis are not that much of a problem and the civilians have no role in decision making. The civilians at all levels, from bureaucrats to political leaders, appear to be reconciled to their second citizen status in decision making and hence either do nothing or adhere to the security establishment's line. …………………………

Meaning RAPEs are reduced to giving cover to jihadis and assorted warmongers. The Supreme Court giving legal decision under threat of gun in favour of criminals notorious for kidnapping Hindu girls is a case in point.

The Indian govt should start building even bigger fenses at the border and cut off any relations to the terrorist state failing even in the Supreme Court just as anywhere else.
