the report suggests that extradition of Dr Afiqa can only be done within the ambit of US laws. The report does not include any suggestion of swapping Dr Afia with either the CIA facilitator, Dr Shakil Afridi, or some high profile Taliban prisoner.

Soon after assuming office Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan ordered senior officials to prepare the report in the light of applicable international conventions. He also held a meeting with Dr Afia’s sister, Dr Fauzia Siddiqui, to show solidarity.

Boy, that was fast even for a third world dictatorship. So, here's my take on this ever evolving situation. The tellibunnies and al-keeda have made this quack their rallying cry ever since she took a swing at the soldiers like a kendostix sistah. Now the new honorable minister has taken up this cause-de-jour and ordered his staff to review international conventions and prepare a report with recommendations on how to bring home the national heroine. Therefore, it is now safe to conclude from this despicable act that the paki goberment either takes orders from the "bunnies and keedas" or is lookinbg to please them or both. Hey, who is say that the PMLN, bunnies and keedas are not one and the same, huh? Bravo, pakis!

Pakistan in talks to import natural gas from India

NEW DELHI : According to media reports India is in talks to export natural gas to Pakistan through a pipeline from Punjab to help the country overcome crippling energy shortage.

Indian State gas utility GAIL has proposed to lay a 110-km pipeline from Jalandhar to Wagah border via Amritsar to supply natural gas to Pakistan, company Chairman and Managing Director B C Tripathi told media here.

According to details the gas in its liquid form (liquefied natural gas or LNG) will be imported at ports in Gujarat and moved through GAIL's existing pipeline network to as far as Jalandhar. It will then be moved through the proposed line.

"Pakistan has showed interest in buying LNG from us to meet its energy demands. The export is techno-commercially feasible. We can do that subject to Government of India approval and reaching a commercial agreement", Indian media quoted the GAIL chief as saying.

He said, "Initially, Pakistan wants to take 1-1.5 million tonnes of LNG. "Pricing and other commercial negotiations are going on." However, Tripathi did not give any specifics.

LNG imports into India are currently in the range of USD 13-14 per million British thermal unit and after including customs or import duty, pipeline transportation charges and local taxes, the delivered price will be close to $21.

Pakistan, which does not have an LNG import facility at present, is willing to buy LNG from the company provided India exempts it from taxes to bring down the cost.

Tripathi further added that pipeline exports to Pakistan were viable and should be looked at in the context of India looking at importing gas through a cross-country Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline.

The Pakistani constitution says,

A person shall not be qualified to be elected or chosen as a member of Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) unless :-
(d) he is of good character and is not commonly known as one who violates Islamic Injunctions;
(e) he has adequate knowledge of Islamic teachings and practises obligatory duties prescribed by Islam as well as abstains from major sins ;
(f) he is sagacious, righteous and non-profligate and honest and ameen;

The bolded portions above are amenable to various interpretations. Growing an unkempt beard could be considered one of them.

PESHAWAR: Twin explosions in the Kurram tribal region's main Parachinar bazaar has killed at least 20 people and injured more than 70 others on Friday, officals said. Three of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

The first blast occurred in the Main Parachinar Bazaar in Kurram Agency and was planted on a motorbike. The second blast occurred on the main School road, confirmed political adminsistration officials.

Earlier in another incident, two persons were killed and six others were injured when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) hit a pick-up van on Kurram tribal region's Sherko road on Friday......

122+41=163. Now using Paki Shauch Sutra Add 1( first number) to 6 and deduct the same number from third digit 3. This takes us to 6+1=7 and 3-1=2.

As the south Asian island nation begins to materialize this statement, it seems to be considering making a nuclear pact with Pakistan rather than India. The Indian media harshly criticized this development, but ignored the reasons why Colombo was compelled to lean towards Pakistan.
For instance, a nuclear threat from India is an issue that has often been discussed in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan scientists from the Ministry of Power and Energy have exposed the threat posed by the two nuclear installations in South India - Kalpakkam and Kudankulam. Sri Lanka will do what is best for Sri Lanka
An Indian court recently allowed the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project in coastal Tamil Nadu to start power generation in August. There are also reports that India has installed an Agni type missile system targeting Sri Lanka's strategic institutions, including Colombo and Hambanthota Ports, Ratmalana and Mattala Air Ports, Military Headquarters, Putlam Coal Plant and Kerawalapitiya-Kelanithissa oil fired power plants. As these threats perceptions accumulate in Sri Lankan strategic thinking, the tilt towards Pakistan for securing peaceful nuclear energy is not surprising. Colombo and New Delhi have had contentious relations since the early 1980s when the late Indira Gandhi facilitated Sri Lankan ethnic separatists by funding, training and arming them. Underpinning Sri Lanka's apprehensions are of course political gripes stemming from India's domestic power play that resulted in India voting against the island at the controversial United Nations Human Rights Council session that was held in March 2012. Since then, Colombo has decided to look for other allies in the region. The Indian media is creating a perception that Pakistan-Sri Lanka relations are a recent phenomenon. But Sri Lanka began defence procurements from Pakistan on a large scale way back in 1999. India was reluctant to sign a Defence Cooperation Agreement with Sri Lanka and hesitant to supply it with the kind of weapons it was looking for, which made Colombo turn to Pakistan.Pakistan also supplied high-tech weapons that helped stop the progress of the Tamil separatist forces in Sri Lanka. Soon after their defeat, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hussein A Bhaila said: "The government and the people of Sri Lanka have considered Pakistan as a true friend, which has always stood by it in times of need."India believes that Sri Lanka is trying to get hold of nuclear technology from Pakistan to make weapons. Pakistan might not want to cooperate at a level that includes nuclear reactors, because of the possibility of diversion and subsequently the possible military nuclear programs. The cooperation is probably going to be in benign areas like regulations, medicine and agriculture. Like Pakistan, Sri Lanka too is facing a relentless power crisis and the introduction of a nuclear energy is a viable solution. The bottom line is that just as India does what is best for India, Sri Lanka will do what is best for Sri Lanka. Whether that involves nuclear cooperation with Pakistan, China, Russia or Mozambique, that is Sri Lanka's business

Extortionists gaining foothold in Lahore

After Karachi, Lahore is on the verge of becoming a safe haven for extortionists, Pakistan Today learned on Wednesday. Criminals, posing to be members of the banned terrorist outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), demand money from traders and other affluent people. The citizens are forced to provide money via ‘Easy Paisa’.

According to police sources, some time ago the TTP terrorists killed three people in the city for not providing extortion money. This scared the affluent people and they started taking such calls seriously. Local criminals also followed in the footsteps of the Taliban and started making threatening calls to traders forcing them to provide money or else their children would be killed.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday called for the immediate release of deposed Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi and urged the restoration of democratic institutions in Egypt.

“Pakistan urges all sides in Egypt to address the legal and constitutional issues in an inclusive and peaceful manner to enable the country to successfully restore the democratic institutions as early as possible,” Foreign Office spokesman Aizaz Chaudhry said in a press statement issued Friday.

“We also call for the immediate release of Mr. Mohammad Morsi,” said the foreign office.

Pakistan’s most recent statement is a departure from its earlier stance on the overthrow of the Morsi government. Previous statements has emphasised upholding the values of democracy and aspirations of the Egyptian people.

Acknowledging the ‘January 2011 revolution’ in Egypt that ousted former dictator Hosni Mubarak, the foreign office said the recent loss of innocent lives was a “major setback for Egypt’s return to democracy.”

I was surprised by the earlier Pakistan stance of supporting Morsi's ouster. Probably, Pakistan was playing some game with the US to gain some benefits. Later, this group met at Princeton to formulate a 'Renaissance Movement within Islam itself". One can clearly see that the US policy of using 'political Islam' gos a long way back. Not for nothing, all Islamist jihadists of today have come from Muslim Brotherhood, whether in Pakistan or Egypt itself (Islamic Jihad to which Zawahiri belonged. The relationship between Islamic Jihad and MB is like that between LeT and Jamaat-ud-Dawah, JuD in Pakistan. There are other similar groups in Egypt) or Al Qaeda itself (the mentor of Osama bin laden was Abdullah Azzam, an MB member. He also mentored LeT's Hafiz Saeed and the two ran together 'Maktab al Khidmat' in Peshawar to cater to 'Arab Afghan mujahideen') or Hizb-ut-Tahrir (whose parent organization was Islamic Liberation Party in Palestine/Jordan). MB was also said to have mentored Ayatollah Khomeini. Certainly, Said Ramadan had a deep personal relationship with the Ayatollah. Of course, MB was the hand maiden of the US and British interests in weakening Col. Nasser in Egypt. It is also no wonder that 9/11 had connections with Germany because Said Ramadan was given asylum in West Germany after MB was banned following assassination attempts on Nasser. The US, now in a grand alliance with the King of Saudi Arabia, allowed the fleeing MB fellows to settle down in that country.

Said Ramadan, who was also the son-in-law of Muslim Brotherhood founder Mohammed al Banna, stayed in Pakistan for a year. It was Said Ramadan who helped Maulana Abu ala al Mawdudi to set up the radical IJT student wing of his Jama’at-e-Islami. He also helped the convening of the Motamar (Motamar Al- Alam Al-Islami) conference in Karachi in c. 1951. The Motamar, or World Muslim Congress, was the only pan-Islamist world body. In c. 1962, Said Ramadan set up the Muslim World League to spread wahhabism.

In 1960, a diplomatic row erupted between Egypt and Pakistan upon the visit of a prominent Muslim Brotherhood ideologue visiting the Jama’at-e-Islami’s headquarters in Lahore on a mission to integrate extremism into mainstream national politics. By early 80s, Sheikh Abdullah Azzam, a Muslim Brotherhood activist of Palestenian origin and the mentor of Osama Bin Laden from his Jeddah days, had established his presence in Peshawar. Initially, Azzam was appointed a lecturer at the International Islamic University in Islamabad, which is today a hot-bed for jihadi terror. Mullah Krekar (Faraj Ahmed Najmuddin), the Iraqi Kurd linked with Al-Qaeda was also Sheikh Azzam’s student in Pakistan.

The links between Pakistan and the MB are therefore deep and flourishing.

That logic applied to Kashmir would have left Shitistan with a 30 x 70 km wide area at the max. Jammu, Ladhak, Leh which are HIndu/ Buddhist majority areas comprise some almost 70 percent land area of J&K. The rest almost 30% is Shia dominated includes many regions of POK.

7 Killed in Attack on Coast Guard Check Post near Gwadar - DAWN

A pre-dawn attack on a Coast Guards check post left seven personnel dead and seven others injured near Balochistan’s port city of Gwadar.

Armed militants attacked the check post situated in the Pakistan-Iran border area of Sanstar on Saturday and fled into nearby mountains immediately afterwards.

Home Secretary Balochistan Akbar Hussain Durrani confirmed the incident, adding that the militants attacked the check post with heavy weapons, including rockets.

Furthermore, the provincial home secretary said that although no group had claimed responsibility, it was believed that Baloch insurgents operating in the area had perpetrated the attack.

The injured personnel were shifted to Gwadar for medical treatment, where, according to the hospitals sources, three of the injured were in a serious condition.

A contingent of law enforcement personnel was dispatched to the area to launch a search operation but no arrests were made until the filing of this report.

A year ago, militants had killed more than 10 Coast Guards personnel in a similar attack near Gwadar.

ISLAMABAD, July 26: Finalisation of dates for US Secretary of State John Kerry’s trip to Pakistan took a bizarre twist on Friday after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif personally got involved with the scheduling of the visit.

The Prime Minister’s Office, after Mr Sharif’s meeting with US Ambassador Richard Olson, first issued a statement saying Mr Kerry was expected in ‘next two days’. Hours later, the handout was amended and the revised one said the secretary would visit in `a few days time’.

Mr Kerry, who postponed his June trip to Islamabad, had promised to visit in the last week of July to meet the newly-elected leadership for chalking the way forward in bilateral ties.

With the month’s last week only two days away, the two sides are yet to come up with a final date for the visit.

What’s exactly holding them up? One well-known reason is that Mr Kerry intends to visit Islamabad sometime in first week of August, but that does not suit Mr Sharif, who is planning to be in Saudi Arabia in those dates.

Mr Sharif had got the presidential poll, originally slated for Aug 6, rescheduled by approaching the Supreme Court because that date conflicted with his travel to Saudi Arabia. The change led to boycott of presidential election by opposition parties led by PPP. The boycott could have potentially cost the election its credibility had the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, the other major opposition party, not agreed to remaining in the contest.

Another angle emerged from the PM Office statement which said: “The Ambassador (Olson) shared with the Prime Minister (Sharif) US priorities relating to the visit.” A Foreign Office source disclosed that the schedule of Mr Kerry’s visit would be announced after a meeting of the foreign ministry’s top brass on Saturday, which would discuss the agenda shared by the US envoy.

This has led to speculations that the issues to be raised during Mr Kerry’s visit may be another cause of delay in finalising the schedule.

Prime Minister Sharif, the statement said, affirmed to the ambassador his commitment to a strong and cooperative relationship with the US.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s full commitment to all initiatives designed to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Our Washington Corres pondent adds: The US State Department also is refusing to clear the ambiguity concerning visits to Pakistan by senior officials, although it did say that Secretary Kerry was still looking forward to his visit.

At the State Department’s regular press briefing, deputy spokesperson Marie Harf was pointedly asked if the secretary was planning to visit Islamabad on the 29th or 30th of this month.

“We’ve said repeatedly that the secretary looks forward to travelling to Pakistan when he can spend some time there discussing a wide range of issues, but I have no travel to announce at this point,” she said.

Asked if US Special Representative James Dobbins planned to visit Islamabad this weekend, Ms Harf said she had no “travel to announce for Ambassador Dobbins” either.

Mr Dobbins was expected to be in Islamabad over the weekend to discuss the revival of Afghan peace process and efforts for normalisation of Pak-Afghan ties. But so far, Islamabad did not know if he was coming as scheduled.

When he arrives, Ambassador Dobbins will also finalise the agenda for Mr Kerry’s visit.

Pakis could have at least waited till Kerry visit's confirmation before spreading false news about US support to Daimer Bhasha dam, no?

LAHORE: The government of Punjab has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Power International (CPI) Holding Limited, a private company, to generate 2,400 megawatt (MW) electricity in Pakistan within the next two to three years.

Speaking to the media, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the MoU was pure investment through which two partners will establish four coal-fired power plants. The plants, which will be set up in the Gadani area of Lasbela district, will produce 600MW each.

Sharif said that coal will be imported to Gadani and the 2,400MW will be shifted to the National Grid Station to distribute power across the country.{across Punjab} He said that the MoU was signed within 25 days after he along with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had called on the management of CPI during their China visit.

The Punjab chief minister said that the first plants producing 1,200MW will be finalised in two years and the next two in 48 months.

Sharif did not disclose how much was being invested by Punjab and CPI Holding, but said that his government had a “little share”.

When asked if the Balochistan government had been taken on board for the project, the Punjab chief minister replied in the affirmative and said that the people of the province should be happy as China and the Punjab government were making a big investment in Balochistan. He also said that all issues related to the project will be dealt with according to the constitution.

Balochistan is considered to be unsafe for Chinese engineers. The area of Gadani is roughly one hour drive from Karachi and has a Baloch population of roughly 20,000 people.

Once again the Pakjabis are exploiting Balochistan.
