From the footage, there was an almost right angled last manoeuvre ,after the corkscrew, before the terminal footage was shown. It looked far more deliberate than an energy bleeding act.

New Indian Express: All eyes on second trial of Agni V
By Hemant Kumar Rout - BALASORE
Published: 14th September 2013 09:55 AM
After a couple of postponements, the nation is finally looking forward to the second experimental trial of its most potent and longest range nuclear capable ballistic missile Agni-V which has the ability to target all of Asia, the Middle East and parts of Europe.

The indigenously developed surface-to-surface 5000-km range missile has been scheduled to be test launched from a mobile launcher at the Wheeler Island test facility of Integrated Test Range (ITR) off the Odisha coast on Sunday.

Talking exclusively to Express on Friday, Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister, and DRDO Chief, Avinash Chander confirmed that the missile test was on schedule and it would be test fired any time before Sunday noon.

“The trial is aimed at revalidating some new technologies incorporated in the Agni-V system and gauging the performance of its subsystems. The mission team has worked minutely and meticulously to achieve success with high accuracy,” he hoped.

The Agni-V missile is the most advanced long-range ballistic missile capable of being launched within minutes, from a self-contained road mobile launcher. In terms of technologies, it is country’s most advanced strategic missile and incorporates many new indigenously developed technologies. The missile which can carry a payload of 1.5 tonne is 17 meter long, 2 meter wide and weighs around 50 tonnes. DRDO is reported to have been working to equip the missile with Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicles through which each missile can carry 2 to 10 separate nuclear warheads and strike at different places.

Hemant Kumar Rout has published a brief video of the launch (and launch only) on his Facebook page.

Shiv Aroor has it on livefistdefence.com as well.

ToI has a view of the launch from afar and audio of Dr. Avinash Chander and Dr. Shekhar here: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/international-home/videoshow/22595438.cms

OK googal chacha says that next trial to today's test will be a Canister launch.

Would be nice if splash point is somewhere near Antarctica for once after it has traversed over the total Indian landmass - like how the Russians do it from Archangelesk to Kamchatka peninsula.

Hindu:Nuclear-capable ‘Agni-V’ tested for second time
http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/n ... epage=true
After a few hiccups during the pre-launch count down and even after the auto-launch, the 17-metre tall missile rose majestically from a mobile launcher and zoomed into the sky. After the three stages got separated as planned at different altitudes, the nose cone carrying the dummy payload withstood scorching temperatures of 3000 degrees celsius , while re-entering the atmosphere and zeroed in on to the pre-designated target point in the Indian Ocean, 5000 km away with an accuracy of a few metres after a flight duration of little over 20 minutes.

Describing it as an overhwelming success, V.G. Sekaran, Chief Controller ( MIssiles and Strategic Systems), DRDO, said it was an "overwhelming success and showed the reliability and maturity of the sub-systems. It has established our readiness to move to the next stage of canisterisation", he added

Soon after the test-firing at 8.50 a.m. Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister and Director General of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO, Avinash Chander asserted that Agni-V was an ICBM and declared that the next launch would be canister-based. "The country has established ICMB capability with the successful second test", he added and said that system was now ready to be productionsied. It would would be inducted into the Army in a couple of years after few more trials.
Interesting that first one was not really an ICBM and this one is

Congratulations DRDO, during the first launch they were concerned about the weather specifically lightning, this time the sky is overcast with clouds as seen from pictures and the launch was in the morning

India successfully test-fires N-capable Agni-V missile from Wheeler Island
The missile flew on a predefined path and reached its destination with expected precision.

Powered by three stage solid rocket motors, the missile had a flawless, spectacular launch in auto mode and followed its entire trajectory in textbook manner, dropping the three motors at predefined stages into the ocean.

The three stage, solid propellant missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher from the launch complex-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR), defence sources said.

The surface-to-surface missile, which can carry a nuclear warhead of more than one tonne, witnessed an 'auto launch' and detail results of the trial will be known after thorough analyses of all data retrieved from different radars and network systems, they said.

Unlike other missiles of indigenously built Agni series, the latest one 'AGNI-V' is the most advanced version having some new technologies incorporated with it in terms of navigation and guidance, warhead and engine.
from various news reports,

they talk about auto-launch - is this a step towards canister launch?

precision of few meters - counter force option? or useful in reducing the warhead weight?
