I want to say something good about INC that is hardly recognized.

However much they wanted to rule India without disruption, Congress so far honored the 5-year term except for the emergency. They might manipulate million things, but went to elections religiously and even honored the public verdict every time.

Kudos Congress!

There is a way these people can get to these high positions. Should I spell it out?

Anyway, enough of this, it is diverting from main topic. Sorry for that, I didn't mean for this to become a big discussion.

I am going to watch the behavior of the Indian media from this point on. Will they shamelessly get on Namo's side after berating him all this time? I am betting on them softening towards NaMo and begin criticizing Munna Baba without going overboard. The paid media is after all a wh0re.

Really? It could be to go to elections to take out all the fence sitters!

Let us take this into account:

JLN - from 1947 to 1950, 1950 to 1964 - 17 years continuous. If he was really a nation builder, he had examples of Washington, Lincoln and Cromwell for him. For a country that opposed colonial rule, America held a good example and he should have stepped down in 1960 itself. So naah, he was no different from the local municipal councillor who is in it for making name, fame and moolah - only erudite to boot.

IG - From 1966 to 1977 - Emergency was the crowning achievement after the war. If going to elections religiously was important - in 1969 itself when Congress split, they should have gone in for elections instead of cobbling up support via "socialist and communist" parties.

In 1979, CongIs caused the split in JP - yes they were fighting within themselves and all that - but the blame for that goes to JLN when he did not step down and let others take a chance in true democratic fashion. Created problems for India down the line. Anyway, Cong(I)s come back again in 1979 and on the eve of elections in 1984, IG is assasinated, paving way for RG.

1989 and the shenanigans of RG in bringing down the government is well known.

Cong(I) put on its best behaviour when a non-dynasty was at helm (by not being a Cong Prez or PM).

And please do not confuse Congress(J)/Congress(I) with INC. They are different.

So the point still stands, anybody supporting Congress(I) is anti-national. If they hark back to JLN, they do not support democracy (more of demagogue-ry) and in later instance - clearly murder and torture - both physical and emotional.

Delhi BJP is pretty much in shambles just like BJP in UP, Jharkhand, Haryana, Karnataka and many other places which are key gateways for modi to power. While they will retain MP, Chat due to good CM's and will dislodge Ashok gehlot in rajasthan again due to vasundhara. To prove that modi himself is a winner, winning delhi is a must.
I wont be surprised if LKA comes back from the dead if Delhi is lost. Expect clipping of Modi's wings should it happen.

appointments to sensitive senior posts of govt take place after background check and vetting by eye bee. perhaps you remember the recent case of appointment of a SC judge which was held back because of an adverse report. so the mechanism is already in place.

Farmers attend Modi meet, put Siddaramaiah in spot
Manu Aiyappa, TNN | Sep 16, 2013, 06.13 AM IST

BANGALORE: A goof-up by the Congress government in Karnataka ended up as a blessing in disguise for BJP's prime ministerial nominee and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi to score some political brownie points.

Congress leaders in New Delhi are said to be peeved at the "political blunder'' made by the Siddaramaiah government , and reportedly sought an explanation from him.

It all started in July, when the Gujarat government sent an invite to Karnataka to send a delegation of 120 progressive farmers to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat-2013 Global High-Tech Agro Summit, held in Ahmedabad on September 9 and 10.

Without giving it a second thought, the Karnataka government selected 120 farmers and sent the list to Gujarat. They also sent names of a dozen officials from the agriculture department to accompany them.

After receiving the list, Gujarat promptly sent them first-class AC railway tickets and accommodation in a three-star hotel. Just when the farmers were preparing for the tour, the Congress government, reprimanded by party leaders in New Delhi, realized the gaffe and directed the agriculture department to cancel the tour. Agriculture officials were asked to personally call the selected farmers and tell them the summit had been postponed .

"We realized something was amiss. So we checked with Gujarat officials who had given their contact numbers when they sent the invite. When they told us it was on, we decided to leave,'' said Rangappa, a farmer from Ramanagaram district .

Two farmers from North Karnataka, who were part of the 70-member team, said they weren't Modi admirers per se but appreciated the way the show had been held.

"We were treated like state guests and honoured,'' said N Basavarajappa, who received a Rs 60,000 cash award from Modi.

KPCC chief G Parameshwara said he had no information about this since the communication was between two governments .

^^ Pathetic Cong(I)s. They do not appreciate farmers and they do not want their farmers to be appreciated by others. Just for that, the Cong(I)s and their supporters should do a "samuhik choolo bhar pani mein doob maron" - that is "collectively jump into a teaspoon of water and get drowned". They are proving to be termites of man., heck even termites produce something good after eating away those cellulose - Cong(I)s just produce more venom. Pathetic.

KJoishyG - a test for "hinduness" will rule me out., do you want that? :-)

Anyway, religion is private., making it an issue or a metric for public discharge of duty is morally reprehensible.

In context of NaMo's outreach to retired soldiers , and his support for the "one rank one pension" , this is what the UPA and its cronies been up to - for the past 8 years... Hitting the ex-sevicemen where it hurts the most - Their post retirement job prospects
UPA's New low :A massive Scam under Defence ministry's Directors General of Resettlement of ex-Army personnel

The matter, which is already in the knowledge of the highest levels in the government, including Defence Minister A K Antony, is now going before the Delhi High Court through a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), which is likely to explode on the face of the powers that be, as the affected parties are several lakhs of ex-servicemen and the taxpayers.

The PIL, filed by advocates Arvind Singh and Vipin Raghav, has been admitted by the Delhi High Court bench of Chief Justice N V Ramana and Pradeep Nandrajog on September 4 and eight-week notices sent to the respondents, which include Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth and Defence Secretary R K Mathur, along with the Finance Secretary, Labour and Employment Secretary and the Director General Resettlement Major General Pramod Behl.

The scam relates to the resettlement schemes that the Directorate General of Resettlement had launched for ex-servicemen under which the retired officers were allowed to start and register their security agencies, coal loading and transportation agencies and national highway toll plaza management agencies and to recruit retired soldiers for their manpower requirements.

In what has come as a shocker, as per documents made available to The Sunday Standard, in the last eight years since 2005, the swindling of the retired soldiers’ money and the government exchequer has been carried out by some select retired officers, in obvious knowledge of the Directors General of Resettlement of the period.

The Directors General of Resettlement mentioned in the PIL include Major General V S Budhwar, Major General K S Sindhu, Major General Harwant Krishan and Major General S G Chatterji, who are all retired now, and have conveniently entered the coal loading and transportation scheme of the directorate that they headed previously.

The documents relating to the scams show serious malpractices and swindling of money belonging to the retired soldiers and the national exchequer by faking recruitment of ex-servicemen and collecting salaries in their names, but without employment in actual; forging documents to show deposits of provident fund contributions of each of their recruits, but in actual pocketing the amount; and preparing forged, fake challans of service tax deposits.

“My estimate is that the scam goes much beyond the eight years for which I have submitted documents to the court and the swindle is worth over Rs 1,000 crore minimum and may go up to Rs 5,000 crore according to estimates of some whistle-blowers,” advocate Arvind Singh, who has filed the PIL on behalf of the whistle-blowers, told The Sunday Standard.

Reading out from documents collected by the whistle-blowers and his team of independent investigators, Singh noted that the three businesses of security, coal and toll plaza were the most sought-after by retired officers, as the salaries fixed for the ex-servicemen recruits is at least three times what is received as remuneration by other individuals, these being unorganised sectors.

“The agencies are allowed a maximum of 300 ex-servicemen to work as security guards for a four-year period and their salaries have been fixed by the Directorate at Rs 25,000 a month. However, the agencies do not recruit the ex-servicemen and instead only produce a list of 300 of them to the public sector undertaking to raise salary bills. They recruit non-ex-servicemen instead and pay them salaries three times less and pocket the two-thirds amount,” Singh said. He also pointed out to several hundreds of fake Service Tax counterfoils of some of these agencies, apart from fake provident fund challans.

There were irregularities in the registration of about 3,000 security agencies by the Directorate, where it came to light during investigations that several retired officers had more than one agency registered in their names, whereas the rules allowed for only one. Also, there were several retired officers using the same registration number to avail benefits in different sectors, though the rules specify that they could do so only under one scheme of the Directorate (see box).

Though there have been complaints in this regard with MoD, made by whistle-blowers in 2010, there has been no action taken till date and the fraudulent practices are continuing. A probe ordered in June 2011 has submitted its report, based on which only an office memorandum listing guidelines for working of these schemes were issued, but no punitive action taken in the last two years. That’s why we have filed this PIL,” Singh noted.

About 60,000 soldiers retire from the three armed forces annually and there are nearly five lakhs of them enrolled with the Directorate seeking an alternative employment post their retirement at a young age of 35-40
Kudos to New Indian Express group for focusing on this issue pertinently at least now.
My question to all the Paid News Journos who were tweeting incessantly against the supposed "politicization" of Army being attempted by Modi in Rewari...

"Where were you when the above was happening with ex-army personnel all these Long years ?"

Corruption at a massive scale in the higher reaches of the Army became the norm under UPA as became clear after revelations of COAS V.K. Singh.

Indian Media analyzing controversial politician Narendra Modi's Speech -- Al-Beeb

Media in India are analysing controversial politician Narendra Modi's first public speech after he was named the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate for prime minister.

Addressing a gathering of supporters in Rewari in the northern state of Haryana on Sunday, Mr Modi spoke mainly on foreign policy, calling for a strong Indian leadership, praising the armed forces for demonstrating "true secularism" and advising Pakistan to concentrate on fighting poverty.

The BJP on Friday declared Mr Modi its prime ministerial candidate for the general elections due in 2014.

Some papers say Mr Modi needs to lay out a positive blueprint for development rather than just criticise the Congress party-led federal government.

The Times of India says Mr Modi has plenty of "negative material" to attack the government, but "he must spearhead a BJP plan for reviving the economy".

His record as the chief minister of the western state of Gujarat, whose economic success he is credited with, "lends him great credibility on this front", the paper adds.

But the Hindustan Times believes "it is no use saying that the Gujarat model can be replicated elsewhere. It cannot be replicated in such a vast and diverse country like India… Mr Modi will now have to spell out what he can bring to the table for the country's poor and disadvantaged".

Hindi paper Amar Ujala feels he "has yet to prove how capable he is in national politics - it will not help anymore to cite Gujarat's success or to criticise the government".

Controversial past

Newspapers are also discussing whether Mr Modi's controversial past can affect the BJP's chances of wining the elections.

He is accused of doing little to stop anti-Muslim riots in Gujarat in 2002 which left more than 1,000 dead. Mr Modi has always denied the allegations.

He "may prove a greater liability than his development record can transcend", The Times of India says, but adds that "balanced against this peril is the possibility that he would energise and expand the BJP's base".

The Tribune terms the appointment a "gamble", saying the BJP calculates that Mr Modi "would attract a greater number of voters than he would scare away".

But Hindi paper Jansatta says "it will not be surprised if the move proves counter-productive".

Is Advani era over?

Meanwhile, media are also discussing reports that Lal Krishna Advani, one of the founding members of the BJP, was unhappy with Mr Modi's appointment and did not attend Friday's press conference in protest.

The Asian Age wonders if the appointment spells the "end of an era" in the BJP due to the "peremptory sidelining" of party stalwart Advani.

The paper, however, says that post-election, Mr Modi may well need the veteran leader's help to attract allies.

The Pioneer too feels that "regardless of all that has happened, Mr Advani remains the party's tallest and most respected leader, and Mr Modi, more than anyone at this juncture, needs his guidance".

Moving on to other news, a temple in Guruvayur in the southern state of Kerala has rejected a request from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to share details about its gold assets, The Indian Express reports.

The Sri Krishna Temple is "one of the richest in India and has a vast quantity of gold and other valuables in its reserves", the report says and quotes an RBI spokesperson as saying that the information was only needed for a data collection exercise.

And finally, garbage bins in Delhi are all set for a makeover as the authorities have decided to invite painters to make them look beautiful, The Pioneer reports.
Lot of hair pulling going in our Paid media on NaMo's Rewari speech. The agreed upon spin seems to be to project that Modi went soft over Pakistan (when he said pakis should take care of their internal situation first)
OneIndia puts it as the "Vajpayeeization of Modi"
Firstpost and other purported "neutrals" are lecturing that "Modi should go easy when speaking on India's foreign policy". Others like HT etc went to town announcing that Modi became "moderate" in tone. In concert , paki express tribune is also praising the "changed" tone of Modi.

Finally trumping all above Al-Beeb is now anal-ysing Indian media's Anale'sis of the speech when Indian media itself is anal-ysing Western media's Anale'sis of Modi's rise. :rotfl:

Congi spokespersons - Our Paid media - Western media together like a Blind monkey triangle trying to pick lice from each others backs.
