^^ I would round up every villager take them to Lakshadweep and water board them until one of them, decides to give name of all those who were involved, take innocents back, then all the sick rats either die in the sinking boat while returning from Lakshadweep or end up in jail forever.

JK police has its own kashmiriyat problem. We need to study how many Hindu and Muslim policemen in JK ranks get killed, especially by mobs

Before people go :(( for this "communal" question, please understand that GoI already started collecting and releasing these details on communal lines.
Kanwarnain Singh, who had volunteered to drive one of the four buses of District Police Lines Baramulla, encountered an unruly mob on the highway. On sighting the police buses, the “demonstrators” began shouting pro-Azadi, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans, though they had no immediate cause.
In any other situation these slogans will amount to treason but India's Pakistan problem is so unique that GoI gets into tizzy. Perhaps its time to inflict mass punishments to stop this menace. Roundup the whole village and book them under section 302. Release the not-guilty people and give capital punishment to guilty.

I know my statement is quite controversial. But the way GOI and Indian establishment reacts to Pak atrocities in J&K and the way TSP establishment reacts after the atrocities, it appears that India and Pakistan are undergoing a civil war with Kashmir Valley being the Berlin wall.

do you think there is any point in discussing current status of the J&K and related Paki situation at all? I mean everything is under the control, isn't it? Whatever the Indian state is doing is for the best, and even if we do not necessarily understand or see transparently - we should assume that in this game Pakis are going to lose eventually at some finite time point in the future.

Should we propose actually closing down such threads and only make this discussion historical? I mean we can only discuss the current context 50 or say 100 years from now when we would be deemed trustable enough to share historical reality with [if of course the peculiar habit of important files going missing at a steady rate changes by that time]. That is when we should be able to justify whatever new facts then come to light about the present and show that whatever steps were taken were inevitable and the Indian gov had no alternatives and choices, if in case the Paki losing didn't happen and some Indians still existed as Indians, to discuss history of J&K and Indo-Pak relations at that stage.

This is how the "Kashmir" issue has always been presented to the Indian public isn't it? We now more or less have the facts on how ground realities were suppressed in even informing the then legislature or the nation at large, how individual likes/dislikes/fears/megalomanias of few individual leaders affected military policy and setting of objectives to the long term detriment of Indian interests. In fact a simple completion or further push of the "boundary" to the west would have locked out later Chinese and other shenanigans. Those asinine decisions could onlee be taken based on the pushing of an image of infallibility and implicit correctness of whatever key leaders do, and choose or not choose to represent to us.

This painting of "everything is alright" - and "we will and are taking the right decisions" - posturing has not changed from those times.

When protecting the image of a body in authority becomes more important than taking the right decisions - as is increasingly being shown in practice - any number of things can and will go wrong and will be sought to be covered up. This leads to further damages and by the time things come to light, there is not much left to do for correction - and justifications begin getting constructed. "There were no alternatives".

Spoke to some of my elders who were across the border before partition. They said that we should never ever trust our current leaders. They are cut from the same cloth as the Nehrus of India who till a day before the partition line was drawn were telling people to stay put and that they would be safe. Those who did not keep a ear to the ground and trusted them, faced a bloodbath within hours after the drawing of the Radcliffe line. Those who had a pulse had left months earlier.
Jagmohan did a great service to the microcosm of the Kashmiri Pandit community by that extension.

We Indians do not record these facts and constantly propagate them.

Can you explain? TSP is being very aggressive in projecting its desire to grab the valley through fraud and terror. Where is the civil war. One has to "admire" their single-minded obsession no matter what ails them.

Think of the kind of incidents useful in exposing the reality of Religion Of Political Elites and the peaceful nature of Sufi Kashmiri Islamists. Take the darn whole village to show them how the tribal folks of Anadman Swim among hungry Sharks.

GOI reaction treats the problem like a civil war, not the Pak establishment. The Pak establishment extracts concessions as if it is in a civil war but pursues actions that are meant for a primary enemy. So GOI gives when it is advantage India and TSP takes 100% when it is advantage Pakistan.

SIT probing Kishtwar violence has lost its credibility, CBI probe only hope: BJP

http://earlytimes.in/mobiledet.aspx?q=116263
Expressing great surprise and resentment towards the inquiry conducted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the August 9 -10 Kishtwar and Padder clashes, the BJP Youth National executive member Sunil Sharma today said that SIT has lost his credibility as the main culprits and criminal elements involved behind the Kishtwar violence are rooming free, while the innocent and poor people's were lodged in jails and reiterated demand of CBI probe in Kishtwar violence.

In a press statement issued today, Sunil Sharma while citing the example of Ashish Kumar son of Subash Chander resident of Bhera Batta, said that the youth was innocently framed by the police in murder case. BJP leader stated that the said person was in Jammu on the day of violence and added that the party has video evidence of CCTV footage proving that the youth framed in murder case was in Jammu on the day of violence. He said that this is not the only case where SIT has framed innocent people and added that majority of the youths lodged in jails are innocent. He alleged that the main culprits were rooming free and enjoys the patronage of political bosses. He demanded an immediate release of all the innocent youths, beside demanded an appointment of DIG ranked officers as a head of SIT so that free and fear inquiry could be conducted. He also said that his party will stick to its demand of CBI probe in Kishtwar violence. He condemned the administration and police for their failure to prevent anti India rant during Eid procession. He said that anti national elements openly challenged the police and administration and rose anti India, pro freedom, pro Geelani and pro Taliban slogans outside temple at old Bazaar Kishtwar. "Police have though registered FIR No:200 at police station Kishtwar in connection with anti India rant during Eid procession, but no formal arrest has been made so far" said Sunil Sharma. He also slammed the Kishtwar administration for not releasing compensation in favour of the victims. Reacting to the news item published in "Early Times" on 22-10-2013 regarding attack on former MOS Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo inside Dak Banglow Kishtwar, Sunil Sharma said that government of Jammu and Kashmir must reveal the names of those persons involved in the said attack. He said that BJP has no personal enmity with Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and added that being as local, people of Kishtwar pin down their hopes on him that he (Kichloo) will safe guard their lives and property as a minister.

reactivating jihad in J&K
Interception of satellite mobile messages by security forces in Karen had revealed a group of 30 to 40 Pakistani jihadi infiltrators speaking in Pashto, the language spoken by the Pashtuns of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa in the NWFP.
Serious discourse in official and non-official political circles in India ensued about the fallout following US’ withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2014.
Both Samba and Kathua jihadi attacks of 22 September and the Karen infiltration were claimed by Pak-based jihadi organization al-Badr with operatives in Kashmir and other parts of the country. Previously also from 2000 to 2012, scores of attacks in the country were claimed by this outfit. Union Ministers debating the issue of terrorism in Parliament, too, referred to Al Badr as frontline jihadi operatives active in Kashmir and the rest of the country.
Al Badr term is drawn from the historical battle, Jang-e Badr, fought in the days of the Prophet of Islam. Jihadis take pride in resurrecting the history and tradition of the ummah. Fourteen century-old terminology and nomenclature have come to be revived. This is testified by extensive use of Arabic names, features and narrative popularized in today’s Wahhabized Kashmir. Age-old parting term “khuda hafiz” is replaced by “Allah hafiz” because “khuda or khudaay”, originates in the Avestic “khotay” meaning the chief. Thus Allah not Khuda is the God of Wahhabis just because it is of Semitic and not of Aryan origin.
Al Badr traces its origin to 1971 when a group of Islamists of same name branching from Jamaat-i-Islami, massacred the Bengalis of the then East Pakistan. Three notorious fanatics, who directed genocide, Ashrafu’z-Zaman, Muhammd Omaru’z- Zaman and Chowdhury Moinu’d-Din, were all from erstwhile East Pakistan.
Al-Badr originally operated as a unit of the much larger and older Kashmiri group, Hizbul Mujahideen, although they later began working under Hizb-i-Islami of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, old protégé of ISI. However, in June 1998, HM members, who would later become the leadership core of al-Badr, were persuaded to split away from the group.
The U.S. Department of State recognized the group as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 2005. Government of India proscribed it on April 1, 2002, under the POTA.
In August 1998, following ouster of Taliban, Pak JI associates formed al-Badr to fight jihad against the US in Afghanistan. But soon the associates parted ways. and three organizations came into being, namely Jamiatu’l-Mujahideen, al-Badr Mujahideen and Hizb-i-Islami.
In August 1998, JI formed two groups, al-Badr and Jammu & Kashmir Students Liberation Front. Growing popularity of JKLF, which ISI had begun to suspect of pandering to independent Kashmir necessitated creation of al-Badr.
JI Pakistan remained in close contact with extremist elements in its Kashmir chapter and outside. A faction of these extremists under the command of Ahsan Dar formed the al-Badr but soon to be re-christened as Hizbu’l- Mujahideen
In early 1994 ISI assumed control of Kashmir insurgency. Professional mercenaries were inducted to intensify terror and violence in Kashmir. ISI created several new outfits. Al-Badr was part of this strategy.
With ISI encouraging al-Badr to operate in Kashmir independent of Hizbul Mujahideen, it formed its command structure as this: Launching Commander – Irfan; Deputy Supreme Commander – Zahid Bhai, Publicity Chief – Jasm Bhat; and Communication in-charge – Abu Muawia.
In 1999, Pakistan-based al-Badr group threatened to target President Bill Clinton if he attacked Osama bin Laden then holed up in Afghanistan. In a written statement, the group claimed that its Commander-in-Chief Safeer Ahmad met bin Laden in Jalalabad. In response to Clinton’s call to restrain Al-Badr, Nawaz Sharif, the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, said that the Taliban were obstinate and difficult to convince.
The version of al-Badr specifically slated to stoke armed insurgency in Kashmir was headed by one Arifeen Bhai alias Jannisar alias Luqman. At present Bakht Zamin Khan of Dir is at the head of the outfit.
The strength of al-Badr active in Kashmir is estimated to be 300 – 400, including about 120 foreigners/mercenaries It’s headquarter is in Mansehra and its camp office is in Muzaffarabad.
In Kashmir, al-Badr cadres are active in Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara and Poonch districts. They operate in small groups of 3-5 and are provided with latest weapons and communication gadgets. They have established contacts with the locals who assist them in stockpiling their arsenal in forest recesses of Kashmir along the LoC and are reported to have made moles in the State Police, administrative cadres and political groups.
Al-Badr had taken active part in Kargil war of 1999 under the tutelage of ISI. Bakht Zamin Khan was based in Skardu during the intrusion monitoring the fighting. The outfit is also part of Muzaffarabad-based United Jihad Council. After Lashkar-e-Toiba, it is the only Pakistani terrorist outfit to employ suicide squads.
The primary aim of al-Badr Mujahideen is to liberate the Indian controlled Jammu and Kashmir and merge it with Pakistan. In past statements, “Mujahideen also want peace and are ready for ceasefire, but India should first declare J&K a disputed territory and handover the state to the United Nations.” This is precisely the language spoken by the Hurriyat (G) leader Ali Shah Geelani.
It opposes negotiating with India to put an end to violence in Kashmir, stands for doing away with LoC and calls for strengthening of jihad. It also advocates ‘liberation of Muslims in the rest of India.’ Advocating sovereign Kashmir, al-Badr is critical of moderate Kashmiri organizations such as JKLF. Its current leadership is opposed to the US, Israel and the Saudi monarchy. Perceiving Kashmir as the gateway of India, it wants to liberate and take hold of this gateway.
In some fear stricken areas, they have sought to enforce orthodox Islamist lifestyles. In April 2003, al-Badr ordered women in Rajouri to quit police jobs, wear veils, give up studies after 14 years of age and not venture out without a male escort. Posters in Urdu to this effect were pasted in Thana Mandi and Darhal areas of Rajouri district. Earlier in December 2002 in a major terrorist action against women in Jammu region, three young girls, including two college students, were killed at Hasiot village in Rajouri district. The attack was carried out by three al-Badr activists led by one Zubair Gul.
Al Badr had remained inactive for some time, but has been reactivated when the cadres of HuM went depleting.
During the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, al Badr leadership secured a large arsenal, some of which was transported to various parts of Pakistan; a variety of weaponry is in the group’s possession including light machine guns, anti-aircraft guns, AK-56 assault rifles, and rocket propelled grenades
Al-Badr group has stronger recruitment networks established at Pakistani madrassas, religious schools, rather than mosques. The JI, which wields great influence over al-Badr operations, serves as a conduit for recruitment activity in madrasas. JI has influence in approximately 800 madrasas in Pakistan; it also uses its social service network to recruit for al-Badr, in similar fashion to militant groups in the Middle East. Students are invited to visit training camps during their summer and winter vacations.
In a bid to force cessation of Indian part of Jammu and Kashmir, the terrorist group targets Indian security forces and military installations in and around the region. They are also known, along with Lashkar-e-Toiba, for being the only group to use suicide bombings as a tactic against the Indian Government. Al-Badr has been involved in score of attacks in various cities of India onwards of 2002.
This history of al-Badr and the like outfits reactivated in recent months is a powerful indicator that Pakistani army, ISI, Pakistan’s jihadi organizations together with Kashmir separatists-secessionists and ambivalent political actors in the State and elsewhere are impatiently waiting for the day of withdrawal of the US from Afghanistan so that they wholeheartedly divert their operations in Kashmir to bring about its secession from India. Will the Sultans of Delhi take it a joke or potent threat to the Indian State?

IIRC, Al-Badr was the numero uno org ( and most brutal) till early 2000s when the security forces virtually forced it into extinction with some superb intel driven operations targeting their leaders. ( P.Swami had one such story in the Hindu looong time back)

Isn't good news if such defunct orgs are getting re-activated.

Aziz meets Kashmiris, evokes sharp reactions
New Delhi - APHaramkhorC leader from Held Kashmir on Sunday met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s adviser Sartaj Aziz at Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, drawing a sharp reaction from hardline opposition party, BJP, which said the government of Manmohan Singh is committing a ‘diplomatic blunder’ by allowing this meeting.Emerging from an hour-long meeting at the Pakistan High Commission, the moderate APHC faction led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said the talks were aimed at finding a lasting political solution to the Kashmir issue, a key element for normalising ties between the two countries, reported Indian media.Besides Mirwaiz, JKLF chief Yaseen Malik and hardline Hurriyat Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Dukhtaran-e-Millat had separate meetings with Aziz.Geelani, who had arrived near Pakistan High Commission much before time, decided not to enter the premises till the team led by Mirwaiz was there. The moment they came out, Geelani went in.“We want to see that the relations between the two countries are good and this would be possible only after the Kashmir issue is settled in accordance with the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” the Mirwaiz said.
To a question that the BJP had opposed their meeting with Aziz terming it anti-national, the Hurriyat Chairman replied, “I wonder how this is anti-national. The meeting is aimed at finding a lasting solution to the Kashmir issue which is in the interest of India, Pakistan as well as people of Jammu and Kashmir.”BJP President Rajnath Singh said, “By allowing Sartaj Aziz to hold talks with Kashmiri leaders the Indian government has committed another diplomatic blunder with serious costs to national security and national interest.”
The Indian government, however, maintained it is not compromising in any way on the Kashmir issue.Indian Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said, “The Hurriyat should also introspect on this matter that if they are really representatives of the people then they must participate in the democratic process.”
The Mirwaiz replied that Hurriyat had been meeting with Pakistani leaders during the BJP regime under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his deputy LK Advani.“Sad to see them (BJP) terming this meeting anti-India. In fact such talks must be encouraged,” he said, adding, “we seek cooperation not confrontation” from BJP and other political parties.About the recent escalation of tension along the Line of Control (LoC), the Mirwaiz said, “military solution is no solution. We have been advocating peaceful means. Killing of soldiers on either side does not help.”He said the recent border tension was discussed during their meeting. The Hurriyat leader expressed happiness that Sartaj Aziz was meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid Monday (today). In a related development, Andrabi, whose kin have been arrested in Pakistan for allegedly being involved in terror activities, also met Aziz with two other women cadre of her organisation.
This is for the first time that Andrabi has come to the Pakistan mission and the meeting was possibly aimed at seeking help for release of her nephew, Syed Shoaib who was arrested in September this year.According to reports, the charges levelled against Syed and other relatives of Andrabi include their association with Al-Qaeda and plans to carry out terror acts using explosive-laden toy planes.Yaseen Malik said any initiative with regard to peace and end to human suffering must be encouraged.Talking to reporters after his arrival in New Delhi, Sartaj Aziz said his country wants peace to prevail between Pakistan and India, adding that efforts are being made in this regard. The adviser would attend a two-day Asia-Europe Foreign Ministers meeting that would begin in New Delhi on Monday (today).

Islamism rises in an idyllic valley
“Death to Israel,” the banner screamed.

Next to it was the now-familiar Muslim chant, “Death to America.”

Further down the road, the late Ayatollah Khomeini stared down angrily at the citizenry.

As a large crowd of Sunday shoppers milled around an overflowing open-air bazaar, other banners showed Sayyed Nasrallah of Hezbollah, with former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wearing his familiar sheepish grin.

No, I was not in Tehran or South Lebanon.

This wasn’t an Alawite stronghold in Syria or scenes from Toronto’s infamous annual “Al-Quds” rally staged by Islamists belching disdain towards the West.

I was in Srinagar, the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the anti-India “Azadi” movement has not been quelled. It was never a nationalist cause where Kashmir’s Muslims and Hindus would live as equals in a secular, liberal democracy, but now pan-Islamism is unashamedly touted as the basis of a future state.

Today’s militant Islamic youth of Kashmir carry placards of bin Laden in anti-India rallies and hoist Taliban flags, while their Shia Muslim rivals are inspired by Khomeini and Hezbollah.

A senior Kashmiri Muslim police officer confided “over 50% of Kashmiris between the ages of 15 and 30 are hard-core pan-Islamists, not Kashmiri nationalists.”

Even the most moderate and liberal of Kashmir’s Muslim leaders, Yasin Malik, chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, and a darling of the left, said Saturday that Islam, as in the past, can still lead the whole world if Muslims unite and become one body.
That explains Press TV's rabid anti-India, Pro-independence kashmiri Islamist stance. Are the relatively moderate and pro-India shias of kashmir getting turned into rabid fundamentalist middle eastern iranian dogs as sunnis become saudi/taliban dogs ? That is a concern. Effectively Kashmir is slowly getting turned into a battlefield for the iranians and saudi dogs to fight their proxy battles like in Pakiland.

This world domination by I is being fueled by 50 years of cold war policies and the west asia burning is making even the Indians find a common cause with it.
It is more about against the west and winning for Isl and not about state, country or geopolitics

The failure of this global domination will also be seen as a failure of the creation of TSP and failure of all the elite such as Iqbal etc who had similar global imagination sitting from India.

India is a place they want to dream about global domination just as the Mughal era mullas did. The effort to get caliphate may be the goal but may also break many nations. India may be a serious victim of this global agenda

It also reflects an abject failure of the Indian state as whole that we have not been to establish that this whole separatist movement is a rabidly, extremist, and communal. Instead, there is some kind of romanticism associated with these separatist scum, both within India and outside, as David fighting Goliath. And this simplistic falsehood has become such a cancer around India's neck. Contrast that with how the India state deals with any Hindu aggressiveness.

Tucked away in the northern-most recesses of the insurgency-hit region of Kashmir, a community is fighting a little-known battle to keep Islamist militants at bay. And the charge is led by none other than a band of housewives.

During the last three years, these women have conducted a sustained and vociferous street campaign to shun militants from their native district of Neelum, a river valley located on the northern fringes of Pakistani-administered Kashmir.
In mid-August, the police stopped a bus-load of these housewives at the main road of Athmuqam town, the headquarters of Neelum district. They led it to the police station and confiscated its registration papers, ordering the driver not to transport his passengers.

The angry women descended from the bus, brushed aside some policemen attempting to stop them, and started to walk on foot to their destination - the nearby army camp, some 6km (4 miles) away along the Line of Control (LoC), a de facto boundary that divides the Kashmir region between India and Pakistan.

When the firing begins, it is us poor people that suffer. This has to stop”

They were carrying hand-written placards demanding an end to militant activity in the area which they say provokes Indian firing on their towns and villages.
Two incidents that followed the women's protest illustrate the deeper undercurrents of the movement they are leading.

Firstly, on the night following the protest, a group of militants tried to cross the LoC and sparked an armed clash with Indian border guards some distance east of Athmuqam, with locals saying they could hear the firing and the shelling.

The next morning, as well as the women marching to the army camp again, the town's traders also pulled down their shutters and held a protest rally in the centre of the town, which was joined by the lawyers from the district bar council.

"The entire district seemed to be up in arms, which made the government officials nervous," says Khwaja Fayyaz Hussain, a local journalist.

Days later, an attempt by militants to cross the LoC was frustrated by none other than the residents of a small village, Ban Chhattar.

"Some three or four armed men tried to cross the river in a rubber boat at night, but were spotted by a villager who raised the alarm," says Malik Naseer, a resident of Ban Chhattar.

The villagers stoned the boatmen and forced them to turn back. Someone also called the police who arrived half an hour later. The suspects had disappeared by then.
"Fires have been rekindled in the kitchens of some abandoned militant camps, and there are more frequent sightings of their vehicles on the roads, especially after dark," says a top official in Athmuqam, requesting anonymity because he is not authorised to speak on matters of national security.
Whether or not the people of Neelum valley will succeed in forcing the authorities to eliminate militants permanently is a question only time will answer.

What is clear is that the women of Neelum valley are in the driving seat in the community's fight against the menace, and for good reason.

"As compared to men, they are less likely to be assassinated by militants or painted as spies by the military, as this would create a scandal and fuel more anger in the wider society," says Arif Bahar, a scholar and journalist based in Muzaffarabad.

And they have a powerful voice, shorn of the restraint that the men sometimes have to show.

"We are poor people. We don't give weapons to the militants. It is the army that gives it to them, and gives them the expenses, and orders restaurants to send them naan bread when they are in town," says Sarwar Jan in a firm voice.

"But when the firing begins, it is us poor people that suffer. This has to stop."

Mohammad Khursheed agrees.

"We can't fight India or Pakistan, but we will stop the militants any way we can, even shoot them," he says.

"If we don't do that, they will drag us back to the life of the 1990s, which is not worth living."

Anti-nationals have complete freedom in India.

Geelani moved by mahesh bhatts speech
Veteran separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani is moved by the speech of Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and has urged the Imams and Khateebs of Kashmir to learn lessons from Bhatt.
“I wish our Imams and Khateebs deliver sermons like the speech of Mahesh Bhatt,” Geelani told Rising Kashmir about the filmmaker’s speech, the video of which has gone viral on the Internet.
“I was surprised to see this speech,” he said. “If a filmmaker can say such good things about Islam, and inform people about the true message of Islam, about how Muslims are supposed to stand up against oppression and stand up for their brethren who are being oppressed, I don’t know why our own Imams and Khateebs do not give sermons like that.”
Geelani said he was moved to see Bhatt’s speech after some of his party workers insisted him on seeing it.
In his speech, Bhatt, the prominent Bollywood director, producer and screen writer had said Indian Muslims did not need anybody’s certificate and if Indian Muslim would become Muslims in the real sense, the destiny of India would change.
Bhatt said a man who fears cannot be a Muslim.
“Where there is fear, there is not a Muslim and where there is a Muslim, there is no fear,” he said.
Bhatt also called upon all Muslims to help their fellow beings and not support people who oppress their brothers.

Other than his Islam is great stuff, did he say anything about "self determination" of Kashmir Muslims? That would be seditious.

Bhatt's mother is Muslim. He formally converted to Islam to marry his second wife Soni Razdan in addition to keeping his first Anglo-Indian wife.

Next you would hear Ulema calling Mahesh Bhatt 'nachne gaane wala'.
Why is Mahesh Bhatt treated a hindu gone Kaput and their is so much anguish about his utterances.
He is a Muslim with a Hindu sounding name and that reflects in his way of life and thinking. Period.

Kashmir evokes heavy emotions in Indians of all colours.

Beyond emotions, Kashmir presents a real challenge to India's elite - development of a national identity that SUPERSEDES the religious and caste identity of an Indian.

India needs an 'Indian' that puts Indian-ness above his religion and caste.

For that to happen, the concept of equality and fairness enshrined in the constitution will have to be put into practice. This is too much to ask from an elite that has only divided the population in terms of religions and castes since independence. Special privileges have been granted to specific groups of people in the name of vote-bank politics or simple greed.

The external dimension of Kashmir problem is manageable if internal dimension is managed.

Garg Sir,

We need a new national consciousness, in order to make things happen. In order to do so, we must make ourselves count and count for the change we wish to see. This change will not come on this forum. It will have to come from trying to make others see the light. In a manner they are not blinded by it.

Not an easy task, considering the nearly 65 years of propaganda. But it can be done. If you are able and willing.

Don't pay much attention to what Mahesh Bhatt says although MSM frequently gives him the opportunity to opine. He is a confused soul. He converted to Islam but has been a believer of UR which I believe is contradictory ideologically. He once made films like "Saraansh" but over last decade and a-half has been associated with s*xually implicit films particularly with his nephew Emraan Hashmi which will give Geelani uneasy sleep at night.

Cross-border terror: India all set to build a Berlin Wall in Jammu by Sameer Yasir Nov 23, 2013 #infiltration #International Border #Jammu #Kashmir #Line of Control #militant #Pakistan 0 inShare 11 CommentsEmailPrint To stop infiltration and continuous ceasefire violations from the Pakistani side, India is now all set to raise a 10-metre high embankment running along the 197-Km stretch of the International Border in the Jammu sector. The serpentine wall will pass through 118 villages in Jammu district. Seen from the Pakistani side, the border will be demarcated clearly by first a fence, a trench and then the 10-metre high wall. A strip of land as wide as 135 feet is being acquired for the purpose, to accommodate several bunkers and outposts for the border security forces. A file photograph of the LoC in Kashmir. The wall is to be built in Jammu. Reuters Earth excavators are set to be used to dig the parallel trench, which will make infiltration virtually impossible, said sources. The International Border in Jammu and the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir have both remained tense throughout this year. The inspiration for this wall seems to have been drawn from a similar wall in the West Bank, erected by Israeli authorities who say the wall has served as a deterrent for violence perpetuated by the Palestinian militants. The wall constructed by India is supposed to be higher than the Berlin Wall which separated Europe during the Cold War. It will be the first of its kind between the two neighboring countries. More than 200 ceasefire violations were reported through 2013 in different places across Jammu and Kashmir, most of them in the area along which the Government of India is now planning to build the embankment. On Oct 23, early this year, Pakistani rangers fired at more than 50 locations in Samba sector which was described by security forces as the most extensive ceasefire violation in one night in the past two decades. Director General of Border Security Forces (BSF) Subash Joshi said in New Delhi that the BSF was waiting for the government of Jammu and Kashmir to acquire land along the stretch. “We have identified the land. The embankment will be followed by the fence,” he said. Under the Land Acquisition Act of the Jammu and Kashmir government, the project also has to be given a green signal by 24 MLAs, who will have to give a no-objection certificate to the state government. “For the wall to come we have already identified and acquired land in 29 villages,” said Divisional Commissioner (Samba) R K Verma, said. A similar exercise has been initiated in Kathua too. Sources say the decision has been taken by the authorities with much persistence by the BSF in view of the 2014 withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan. The violence in the troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir has seen an unexpected spurt this year. “It is only possible to construct a wall of this size in certain places in the state. It cant be done throughout the state. Jammu being the easiest one, it will help to stop the infiltration and drug smuggling also, a home Ministry official told Firstpost.

Film-maker Vishal Bhardwaj was forced to pack up after a group of Kashmir University students disrupted shooting of a sequence of a fidayeen attack for his upcoming movie Haider. The sequence was being shot on the University campus at Hazratbal on Sunday.

Eyewitnesses said that a group of University students gathered at the picturesque Naseem Bagh, within the campus, and began whispering and gesticulating upon sighting the set — a make-shift bunker with the Indian national flag atop it. Even as the shooting had been scheduled on a holiday, the crowd began swelling with the entry of over 50 students from two hostel buildings.

The Police on duty initially foiled the students’ attempt to disrupt the shooting with the detention of a couple of the youths who asked the managers to pull down the Indian flag and be careful that nothing objectionable [to the anti-Indian crowd] was filmed on the campus. Even when the Tricolour was pulled down under pressure, the students shouted at an actor for smoking around the set. However, in a while, the crowd began shouting anti-Indian and pro-Azadi slogans, besides booing the crew. Soon the unit packed up and withdrew.Srinagar Senior Superintendent of Police Ashiq Bukhari told The Hindu that a thin group of the students objected to the National Flag. “The film unit packed up without picking up a clash with the students. It was not a big demonstration. Police did not interfere, other than providing reasonable security to the actors and the crew,” he said.

A spokesman of the proscribed Kashmir University Students’ Union said in a statement that the demonstrators forced the film unit to bring down the Indian flag and also forced actor Irrfan Khan to put out his cigarette on the “smoke-free campus”. He alleged that two of the “protesters” were arrested by the police but let off later. “The students came out of the hostels and raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans in the campus. After the situation got out of control, Proctor Naseer Iqbal managed the release of both the students and promised prompt action against the security personnel,” he said.
Sources said that the film unit, which began an extensive schedule of the shooting on the famous Dal Lake here earlier this month, received an enthusiastic response from the spectators. However, it later shifted to a different location and carried on the day’s schedule.

With Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor playing the lead roles, Haider is said to be Bhardwaj’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy Hamlet. As Haider is almost fully being shot in the Valley, Bhardwaj has reportedly assured Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that the film would have nothing to harm the local sensibilities and the political aspirations.

And yet we allow these pukeheads to setup "kashmiri art emporiums" all across India.

So there is this discussion on twitter about the 'integral' business of J&K. The J&K constitution says that it is an integral part of the country. But IPC says India means everything but the state of J&K. Although, one has to remember that IPC is from 1860.

Yasin Malik and his family were thrown out of hotel in Delhi at midnight. Am sure this will be added to the takleefs that the separatists bear.

Wonder what happened for this to occur.
At same time its unconscionable to throw any one out in the streets at middle of night anywhere.

needs a law if its not there for hotels.
