The younger brother had cancer and he died of that IIRC.

The ashes Modi got back in 2003 was of Shyam Kishan Verma..not Shyam Prasad Mukherjee. Slip of tongue for sure, but i doubt Diggie and Manish types are going to let this sort of thing go. NM too has to be a bit careful on the slip front.

Sri Narendra Moody is baiting kangressis into responding with finger-wagging corrections perhaps...

Will have the effect of turning the spotlight on the incident being mentioned (much like with the Sardar Patel controversy).

It is a very simple mantra. If BJP forces a straight contest between INC+ and itself this time we see a massive NDA victory. UP and Bihar are exceptions to this theory. Otherwise we will keep talking numbers and yes you could be right.

A lot of state units of BJP are pure junk. Modi's team needs to wipe them first and go with a strategy to ensure INC is lost. They have to seriously plot AP, Orissa(local BJP is spoiler). They have to finalize Karnataka, Maha, Haryana and Jharkhand. (Top BJP leaders are the spoiler)

MB has said nothing about INC or BJP for a while..indicates she may be willing to bargain with the winner for the best economic pkg.

NaMo's "errors and slips" may be along the lines of this old story, which has as its actors Israel/Palestine, India/Pakistan, or whatever is the story-teller's fancy. The story may not even be true, but is very illustrative.

With India/Pakistan: the Indian envoy to the UN stands up and says - "'In 7000 BC (or whenever), when Parasurama was in Kashmir, he put down his axe and went to take a bath. When he returned, he found that his axe was gone. A Pakistani had stolen it! This is how treacherous these Pakistanis were, even 9000 years ago.'

The Paki envoy jumps up and hollers: 'what rot! The story is an obvious fabrication. There was no such thing as Pakistan then. Pakistan only came into being in 1947 AD.'

The Indian envoy smiles and says: 'now that we've established that, let us continue the discussion on Kashmir, India, and this fledgling entity called Pakistan which is only 60 years old.'"

Get the picture?

Talking about deliberate slips, will it help, if Modi ji were to go out in one of his speeches and say that if the black money were to be brought back, every Indian will get 1000x(real_amount)? He should make it a very large number (say 5lacs each home). How even though the number used will be wrong, Congress will be in knots if they try to correct him. What will Congress say? That the real mount is 0.5lac and not 5lacs?

The WB muslim pop is barely 26-27% (25% in 2001 census), WB usually has high voting % from all groups, so i dont expect muslim voter % to exceed 28-29% at max. Again that does not mean she is not courting them, i am just saying. And moreover, this % already includes all illegal bd's also, since our census anyways counts residents, not citizens.

Maybe not. When Modi comes to power, what if each Indian holds him to his word, and expects to receive 5 lakhs per home?

putting the blackers behind bars, and make all taxes been filed is enough money to pay 5 lakhs for all. it can come via tax reductions or no income tax at all as dr ss says.

i'd want to ban tax for RE sector, and make it flat 4% transaction fees on the original . no cash transaction allowed.. no cash taken into bank without producing source of income - validate no cash txn.

RE inflation will come down, and middle class will get affordable homes.. poor people can move into middle income zone.

if one starter to kill corruption is the RE switch. kill that deamon! and even a ripple effect will be seen by reduced rowdyism as well... it all starts from RE sector

Biting the hand that feeds: India's small towns favour opposition

Sun, Nov 10 15:59 PM EST
By Krishna N Das and Shyamantha Asokan

KASBA BONLI, India, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Kasba Bonli is a newly prosperous market town in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan and it should be a perfect advertisement for the ruling Congress party's pro-farmer policies. Instead the buzz in the bazaar is for the opposition.

In just a few years, handouts for farmers by Congress have helped turn the once-deprived village into a thriving retail centre, selling everything from glittery bangles to satellite dishes.

The Congress party-led government pours at least $20 billion a year into rural India in addition to free education and health and cheap food. Cheap fertiliser, seeds and electricity, 100 days of guaranteed paid work a year and new rural roads have given farmers cash to spend.

These funds have helped create an emerging middle class, mostly in semi-urban and small towns, which one estimate has put at almost a quarter of India's 1.2 billion people.

But many in this new middle class believe the next step up the income ladder will come when the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Narendra Modi, its candidate for prime minister and currently the chief minister of neighbouring Gujarat state, will be in power. That bodes ill for Congress ahead of a general election that must be held by May.

Farmer Raghuvir Meena, who voted for Congress in the last state polls, bought two new tractors over the past few years and nearly doubled his farming area, attributing the prosperity to better farming techniques and seeds. He sent three of his four children to college to train as teachers. Now he wants to get out of farming and this time Modi has his vote.

"Modi's track record in Gujarat has excited the youth. Even I would love to see BJP come back to power, for my kids, for their jobs," he said, juggling phone calls on his mobile.

Modi is widely seen as a business-friendly reformer who has attracted investment and bolstered economic growth in Gujarat, providing jobs to many.

For Congress this trend in the small towns is the latest in a series of reverses. It is already battling slowing economic growth, perceptions of poor governance, several corruption scandals and the growing popularity of Modi.

For decades, Congress relied on its pro-farmer policies giving it rural votes. Then, at the last election in 2009, it gained wide support in cities during a period of fast economic growth to win a second consecutive term in office.

However, the urban goodwill is fast eroding because of corruption and a sense of policy drift, while its base constituency of rural poor is shrinking.

"It's a new phenomenon. It's not something that we have been used to in the past," said Jairam Ramesh, India's rural development minister, of the demographic shift.

"Very often experience shows that beneficiaries of programmes instituted by one party end up voting for the other political party," he said. :rotfl: (He can't understand why they can't eat one FULL roti pet bhar ke and vote for CONGis as ordered by Shahazada)

MODI'S ALLURE

Beyond the commercial bustle, Kasba Bonli has little to offer to the groups of twenty-somethings who loiter on motorcycles in the dusty market, unable to find work.

Often the first graduates in their families, these young men say they want industries and professional jobs rather than more handouts, and they look to Modi for providing such opportunities, not Congress.

Modi has attracted companies such as Ford Motor Co, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors to Gujarat, the state he has governed since 2001.

But he is also seen as a polarising figure. Critics of Modi, a Hindu nationalist, say he didn't do enough to stop religious riots on his watch in 2002 that killed at least 1,000 people, mainly Muslims, although the allegations have never been proved. Others say that despite fast growth, his state is a laggard on social and poverty indicators.

That's not the impression held by Mateem Khan, a frustrated 22-year-old Muslim resident of Kasba Bonli with a lowly data-entry job at the local office for one of the handout schemes, the only skilled work he could find.

"Look at what he has done for Gujarat, there's hardly any unemployment in the state," said Khan. Kasba Bonli's 18,000 people are about half Muslim and half Hindu.

Four banks, 15 private schools, and one private college have sprouted up in the town since 2008, said Ramkishan Gurjar, head of the village council that governs Kasba Bonli. Motorcycle and tractor showrooms have come up over the past three years.

Many local farmers now clutch mobile phones they use to chat to traders about crop prices. Roads have been built to a dozen surrounding villages, helping bring crops quickly to market and consumer goods flowing the other way.

It's a pattern repeated across the country, with swollen villages becoming small towns, creating a demographic group of relatively better off semi-urban voters that barely existed a decade ago, social scientists and politicians say.

Rural consumer spending grew by 36 percent, higher than the 33 percent rise in urban areas, between 2009 and 2012, according to government data.

A national census in 2011 found that 14 percent of India's urban population of about 400 million lived in these towns, double that of a decade earlier. Boston Consulting Group calculates 24 percent of Indian households are now found in small towns.

MAKING HEADWAY

Modi has directly addressed this demographic shift, catering speeches to the new constituency and promising urban amenities such as around-the-clock electricity and broadband internet connections to communities similar to Kasba Bonli.

Opinion polls suggest he is making headway. In a recent Nielsen survey of two largely rural states, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, that contain a quarter of India's population, Modi emerged as the most popular candidate for prime minister.

In Rajasthan, the state in which Kasba Bonli lies, the Congress and the BJP are neck and neck in the villages with support from 46 percent of voters each, according to a July poll by the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), a think-tank.

However, in towns of less than 100,000 people, which fall under the semi-urban category, BJP scored 56 percent to Congress's 40 percent.

India electoral mathematics is complicated, taking in local issues as well as caste and religion, making it hard to forecast results. But Rajasthan and four other states hold provincial elections over the next month, which will provide a pointer to how far Modi's popularity extends and how Congress may fare in the national election.

"If you look at people in the (semi-urban) category, they have benefited from education and reservation policies for lower castes. But increasingly our surveys show that, as people get more educated and affluent, the possibility of them voting for the BJP is much higher," said Sanjay Lodha, who co-ordinates CSDS' polls in Rajasthan.

Dear All,

NaMo used to put transcripts of his speeches at http://narendramodi.in/speeches/ . But since 1-oct-2013, ever since he made landmark Sb4D statement, NaMo has ordered his staff NOT to put transcripts there. I checked just 1 minute back, and last speech was 26-sep-2013 . IMO you all must ask NaMo to put FULL text of his transcripts in at least Hindi, English and also in other languages. Even a small person like me gives all proposals in writings before making YT video. People like me smell CT when a person only makes videos and doesnt give anything in writing. Because people avoid giving statements they speak in writing because they want to evade cross-checks.

Now I am looking for speech where NaMo said that when he becomes PM , black dollars of Indians in foreign banks shall arrive in India and every Indian will get 2 lakh rupees !!  . Can anyone give me youtube link and hour:minute when he made this statement? Or does anyone know what was his exact statement?

====

There is tons of black wealth in India hoarded in plots and mineral mines, and 90% of which can be unearthed in 4 months by merely printing 30-40 pages of law-drafts in Gazettes , see chap-14 , chap-25, chap-5 of http://rahulmehta.com/301.htm . But apparently no one wants to reduce this easy problem of unearthing black wealth hoarded in plots and mineral-mies. And people seem to be too eager to get black dollars hidden in Switzerland/Mauritius, as if it is "take the early morning flight to Switzerland , then from there go to Mauritius in afternoon , and come back next day morning with suitcases containing 4 trillion dollars" !!

Anyway, I will wait till a NaMo-bhagat shows me courage to write give me links to EXACT statement made by NaMo.

any proofs whatsoever, then to answer the next logical question why me? see saarzee moi comes from a political savvy(most charitable word  ) family spread over 78 constituencies in the Cow belt have stood and contested election from each and every party (family members not me)
as you must surely know in every election 20% contestant are moolah provider suckers, which means these people try and buy tikits
using their moolah and parties let them and make them contest from seats considered lost, but a political savvy family have to avoid that and have to ascertain the reality hence there has to be a way to the real happenings in the corridors of parties, not depending upon hearsay or media say or opinion polls onree asli happenstance.
