Bangladesh executed Islamist opposition leader Abdul Quader Mollah on Thursday for war crimes he committed in 1971, in a move likely to spark more violent protests less than a month before elections are due to be held.

Mollah was hanged at Dhaka Central Jail after a dramatic week. He won a reprieve on Tuesday hours before he was to be sent to the gallows.

Kabaddi over gender of Pak women team players at World Cup
Nikhila Pant Dhawan
Tribune News Service

Bathinda, December 11
The kabaddi associations of Punjab and England engaged in a war of words today over the demand for gender identification of some Pakistan women team players.

England’s women team coach had yesterday pointed out that at least three players in the Pakistan’s women team were allegedly transgenders. “During our match with them in Jalalabad, we suspected that some of the players were not women. We raised an objection with the authorities but it went unheard,” said Ashok Das, coach of the England women team.

England Kabaddi Association general secretary and team manager Kawal Das said: “Their behaviour, their built and the way they played were not how a woman would play or behave. In spite of our complaint, the authorities went ahead with the match.

“After the match, a coordinator brought doctors to make the Pakistan players undergo a medical examination. But a Pakistan team official requested the coordinator not to conduct the test as it was against their religion.

The England team objection

The England women team management on Tuesday approached the organisers raising suspicion over the gender of some Pakistan women players
Despite the objection, the match for the semifinal berth was played in which Pakistan team emerged winners
The England team on Wednesday claimed the organisers failed to conduct gender identification test on suspected players
Punjab Kabaddi Association chairman Sikander Singh Maluka said they had no reason to question their status as the players’ passports clearly stated they were women

“He also argued that a medical examination of their players would bring disrepute to the team, which was competing for the first time in the tournament,” Kawal said. She added that the coordinator assured them of conducting a dope test on the Pakistan team.

“I wonder if the coordinators knew that a dope test was different from a gender specification test. We have faced trouble every time our team has participated in this tournament. The standard is not up to the mark,” said Kawal. While the officials and players of the Pakistan women team remained unavailable for comment, chairman of the Punjab Kabaddi Association Sikander Singh Maluka called it a case of sour grapes.

“The England team is raising an objection since it lost to Pakistan and didn’t get a spot in the semifinal. To avoid any confusion, we had this time insisted on allowing only those players to represent their countries who had passports of their respective nations,” he said.

“Before the start of the tournament, the passports of all players were verified. If the passport says a player is a female, we will believe it. We do not have any reason to question a country’s legal document,” he said.

Hereditory Begger & Bragger Bakistan: Question of Few Zeros in the End
Kafir Foreign exchange reserves hit 12-year low, Islamist reserves highest since 47, SBPagal data
Foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) have declined to a 12-year low of $2.9 billion, hitting its lowest level since November 2001, according to data released yesterday.SBP’s foreign exchange reserves reduced $83.5 million, or 2.7%, between November 29 and December 6. Total liquid foreign reserves held by Pakistan on December 6 amounted a little over $8 billion, SBP data revealed. Out of the total liquid reserves, net foreign reserves held by the banks other than the SBP amounted more than $5 billion.Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves have declined by $2.9 billion since the beginning of fiscal year 2013-14. Notably, the decrease in the total liquid reserves is mainly due to a sharp drop in the reserves held by the central bank.
“Pakistan’s current account deficit increased to $1.3 billion in July-October as opposed to the surplus of $14 million in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.As a consequence, the rupee has undergone considerable depreciation due to declining reserves. It has depreciated by 7% since July 1 and was traded at Rs110.50 a dollar in the inter-bank market on September 26.
Meanwhile, according to economist Sayem Ali, the current level of foreign exchange reserves gives only three weeks of import cover. It reflects a highly vulnerable balance of payment position with a negative outlook for the Pakistan rupee.“Foreign reserves data shows the SBP’s short-term borrowing from commercial banks has spiked, which increases the roll-over risks in the foreign exchange market,” Ali said.“In the current fiscal year, the IMF will lend Pakistan $2.2 billion whereas Pakistan will repay it $3.2 billion.“Private capital inflows have posted a healthy increase on the booming stock market, but they remain insignificant to have a meaningful impact on the foreign exchange reserves position,” Ali added.

BUDHAI HO!

With over US$ Two Billion being "Parked" in SBP by Brother Muslim Countries and SBP having Two to Three Billion US Dollars in SWOPS Pakistan - as a Nation for whatever it is worth - now has a Negative Foreign Exchange Holding.

As per the following Article the SBP already has a Net International Reserve at NEGATIVE :

Fiscal crisis : Govt stutters on response as forex reserves slump
IMF has also asked SBP to bring Net International Reserves at negative $2.1 billion by December, from the end of September net level of negative $3.1 billion, according to sources. This requires coordinated efforts on part of both the bank and the finance ministry.
So all one can say is Aagay Aagay Dekhiye Hota Hai Kya!

EU Grants GSP+ Status to TSP -DT

At last, Jai Ho. TSPians should ask their government as to why they are so poor when the 3½ have been so generous for 60 years with Billions and Billions of dollars, billions of dollars of loans have been waived off, arms and ammunitions come practically free of cost, oil came at no cost for decades, multilateral financial fora have been generous with loans etc. etc ?

Inshallah, believers managed to keep up its Anti-polio workers drive.

Despite hard work of momin, they cannot completely eradicate the menace of polio-workers

Attacks on polio teams kill three in northwest Pakistan
Gunmen attacked two separate polio teams in northwestern Pakistan on Friday, killing one polio worker and two police guards.

The first incident took place in Swabi in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province where unknown motorcyclists shot down two policemen on their way to provide security cover to a polio team, local police said.

According to police, the two police officials were on their way to perform security duties when unknown gunmen opened fire on them on Topi Road in Swabi. Subsequently, one police official was killed on the spot while the other, sustaining severe injuries, succumbed to his wounds at the hospital.

Hours later, a gunman killed a polio worker on his way home after vaccinating children in Jamrud district of Khyber tribal region located on the outskirts of Peshawar.

Government administrator Iqbal Khan said the slain worker was targeted for participating in the government-run anti-polio campaign in the tribal area.

Pakistan is one of only three countries in the world where the polio virus is still endemic, but efforts to stamp out the crippling disease have been hit by repeated attacks on health teams.

Officials blame the violence and suspicions about the vaccine for a surge in cases. According to the World Health Organisation, Pakistan recorded 72 cases of polio this year compared to 58 in 2012.

New Delhi on Wednesday announced it would require citizens from Pakistan and other polio-affected nations travelling to India to take a mandatory polio vaccination at least six weeks prior to their departure.

Is there a test to ensure that these fakers are seropositive after the vaccination and before entry into India or will the mere production of a fake certificate do??

I hope that the GOI does not carry atthi devo bhavo nonsense too far and compromise the polio situation in India.

If it is negative, shouldnt it be called debt instead of reserve? More than reserve it seems like operating as current account.

Hanging of Bangladeshi Jamaat leader unfortunate: Pak minister
Pakistan's Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan today described as "very unfortunate" the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Mollah in Bangladesh for genocide during the 1971 liberation war. In a statement issued here, Khan said Mollah's execution was "very unfortunate and a tragic step". He contended that some circles had declared it a "judicial murder".
lo karlo baat :rotfl:
"There is no doubt that he was hanged because of his loyalty and solidarity with Pakistan in 1971," he said. "Till the very end before creation of Bangladesh, he remained a supporter of a united Pakistan and today every Pakistani is saddened and grieved on his death," he added. The 65-year-old Jamaat leader, known as the "Butcher of Mirpur" for atrocities committed in a suburb of Dhaka, was hanged last night after Bangladesh's Supreme Court rejected his review petition.
Noting that 42 years had passed since the events of 1971, Khan said it was the demand of international relations that "events of the past should be put behind and a new era should be started".forget about cash-meer , siachen , IWT The execution was an effort to "revive old wounds of the past", he claimed. "It would have been better if the Bangladeshi government had shown farsightedness, large- heartedness and magnanimity instead of opening old wounds," he said.So after hindu India now even the Bong birathers have small hearts onlee Those bloddy SDREs , eating rice has shrunk their hearts

Nazis would say the same thing, all killers say the same thing. 26/11, it is past, put it behind and start a new chapter, commit an inhuman act, move on as if it never happened and then shamelessly prophesize "past is past, put it behind and move on"...ack thoo, what shameless and repulsive fu(kers.

ostensibly, sharif was invited for a kabaddi tournament in punjab, this faker routes via MMS's house and without any engagements, arrives many days before his actual appointment. Adding insult to injury, he loafs around in Delhi and generally lives it up.

Even in self created crisis, they think only of themselves and also want others to think of them.

pakiland is a state in perputual denial. The default state is NFF--No fault found.

Polio crisis deepens: India’s travel ban
THE failure of both state and society to recognise a crisis requiring urgent attention is astounding. It has been nearly a decade now since reservations started pouring in regarding the administration of the polio vaccine. Since then, resistance to the vaccine has grown exponentially — the trend has gone from a passive refusal to allow the administration of the vaccine to active resistance and aggression. Meanwhile, the incidence of polio within the country has been on the increase; in fact, there is alarming evidence that we are exporting it. The Pakistani strain of the virus has been detected in Asia and Africa, and just recently, medical experts warned that it could threaten Europe. It is little wonder, then, that India — which was recently declared polio-free — acted on Thursday on a recommendation first proposed in 2011 by the Independent Monitoring Board for Polio Eradication: after Jan 30, 2014, those travelling to India from Pakistan and other polio-endemic countries (Afghanistan and Nigeria) will be required to show proof of recent vaccination.

It is unfortunate indeed that matters have come to such a pass, and the possibility cannot be ruled out that other countries may follow suit. While the world, India in particular, must be urged to be patient — for such restrictions will affect a great number of people — the fact remains that it is imperative that Pakistan start putting its house in order in terms of countering the polio threat. While the danger has intensified, the state and its leaders have looked the other way. Though validation for the vaccine has started trickling in — Maulana Samiul Haq of the Darul Uloom Haqqania announced his backing for the vaccine a few days ago — much more is needed. The much vaunted ‘national interest’ that forms the backbone of the bulk of our leaders’ rhetoric cannot be better served than by ensuring that future generations are not stalked by polio, and Pakistan is not a pariah amidst the comity of nations for failing to control the crippling virus.

That is Pakistan's approach to reconciliation. So much is being written about Mandela in Pakistani press these days. He is being compared with Jinnah and how his approach to deliverance was the same as that of Jinnah's and all that nonsense.

We know that at one point, Pakistan even adopted partially and farcically the 'Truth and Reconciliation' approach of Nelson Mandela. Partially because, 'Truth' was dropped from the Pakistani scheme of things, probably because everybody remembered Gen. Zia's golden words that 'Muslims are allowed to lie in a good cause'. Farcically because, the remaining 'Reconciliation' was a total farce. Let me explain.

In order to get Ms. Benazir Bhutto’s support, Gen. Musharraf promulgated the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) in Oct 2007, which enabled all corruption cases to be dropped against her. Immediately the Pakistani Government requested the Swiss banks to de-freeze Ms. Bhutto’s accounts. The NRO, while allowing ‘politically motivated cases’ in the period between January 1986 upto October 12, 1999 to be withdrawn, clearly did not offer the same clemency to Nawaz Sharif. It was later used against Nawaz Sharif to reject his nomination papers for the January 8, 2008 General Elections. The NRO was described as a new chapter in the history of Pakistan by simply burying the selective past ! The explanation offered for withdrawal of cases was since more than 10 years have passed and no charge has yet been proved, there was no point in continuing the cases. Finally, the re-instated Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry heading a Supreme Court bench directed that 37 ordinances, including the NRO should be tabled in the National Assembly for its approval by the end of November, 2009. With PML-N not supporting the NRO, the Government decided not to table the bill in the National Assembly and also not to defend the NRO in the Supreme Court. :D A full 17-member bench of the Supreme Court eventually struck down the NRO on Dec. 16, 2009 and asked all the ‘closed’ cases to be re-opened. However, the Government failed to initiate action against the ‘closed’ cases which irked the Supreme Court bench which said in its order on January 10, 2010 the following: “Prima facie , the Prime Minister is not an honest man and violated his oath”. :rotfl: It also blamed the President of Pakistan and the Federal Law Minister for having allowed loyalty to a political party and its decisions to outweigh and outrun their loyalty to the state and their “inviolable obligation” to obey the constitution and all its commands. It further threatened to disqualify the President and the Prime Minister and face ‘unpleasant consequences’

This was the 'Reconciliation' part. What a contrast with the proceedings conducted by Desmond Tutu.

India-Pakistan Should Resolve Issues Through Consensus - Rajmohan Gandhi - Meena Menon, The Hindu
No matter how outstanding leaders are, they cannot bring about a change unless they carry others along, said Rajmohan Gandhi, who released his new book, Punjab — A history from Aurangzeb to Mountbatten , here on Thursday.

A packed hall at the Institute of Strategic Studies heard Mr. Gandhi’s talk on “Understanding Pakistan and India through the prism of undivided Punjab”. People queued up later for an impromptu book signing.

While he was here, he had heard that the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan should be locked up in a room to find a solution to the tensions between the two countries, Mr. Gandhi said. But, even if they did find a solution, it could not be imposed on the people of the two countries. “We demand too much from our leaders — they cannot create a solution unless there is a wide enough consensus,” he said.

Even in 1947, which saw the worst killings, many in the Punjab protected one another, he said. In fact, people of both communities who had protected others were far more than those who killed. There were many brave and successful attempts — this was an under-reported story of 1947 with which he had dealt with in his book. The pressure for India and Pakistan to reconcile with each other should come from the grassroots, Mr. Gandhi said.

His sole aim was to recapture 240 years of Punjab’s history. As one who was born and raised in Delhi, he could not help being influenced by the traumatic events of Partition, his grandfather Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and the killing of thousands of people. . There were not many studies on Punjab history. Someone had to do it and he thought he should not be afraid to try it, Mr. Gandhi said. He also clarified that he did not intend to pass any judgment or prove or disprove beliefs.

His study showed that when empires were in retreat, they focussed not so much on the people they ruled; withdrawal was their priority. The British had created a remarkable army and half of India’s soldiers were from the Punjab. However, while the British used the army to suppress the Naval revolt in Bombay, Karachi and other places in 1946, when it came to dealing with violence in 1947, they took the view that the Indians had asked them to quit and it was their responsibility to address it, he said.

Evidence had come to light that the demobilised soldiers of the army were involved in some of the killings. Punjab, which had become the most Empire-friendly, saw the maximum violence. Going back in history, Mr. Gandhi said the British had faced their toughest fight in their sub-continental quest in the Punjab. But they had succeeded in turning the people they had defeated into their staunchest allies. Future lessons could be learnt from this — “how is it that the people you defeated become your faithful allies. It was an important question for our times.”

Referring to the Radcliffe Award, Mr. Gandhi said there were two Muslim and two non-Muslim judges on the Punjab Boundary Commission. All of them were from the Punjab and yet they wrote opinions which cancelled each other. Radcliffe was in Delhi and did not come to Lahore. Mr. Gandhi regretted that not once did the four judges say that a consensus could have been evolved. “We can learn from this — the inability and failure of these eminent figures to even attempt a consensus,” he said.

Former India-Pakistan Spy Chiefs Call for Direct Channel for R&AW and ISI - The Hindu
Former Indian and Pakistani intelligence officials have authored joint papers calling for greater contact between the Inter Services Intelligence Directorate and the Research and Analysis Wing to prevent regional crisis and push forward new thinking on the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir

The papers emerged from a meeting of the former Indian and Pakistani intelligence officials in October, as part of the Ottawa Dialogue, a Track II dialogue process organised by Ottawa University.

In their paper, CD Sahay and Wajahat Latif say what covert services “can achieve is not at times even conceivable in political or diplomatic channels.” RAW and the ISI, they say, can “help to guard against panic reactions: for example, unintended mobilisation of forces or possible nuclear alerts.” The two services, they write, “might have a common interest to prevent another incident of the kind which occurred in Mumbai in November, 2008.”

Mr. Sahay, a Karnataka-cadre India Police Service officer was RAW chief from 2003 to 2005, and Mr. Latif of the Pakistan Police Service officer headed the Federal Investigation Agency from 1990 to 1993.

The former ISI chief, Asad Durrani, and the former RAW chief, Asad Durrani, in a companion paper, have outlined the origins and course of the dialogue process that began in 1997. “Better understanding between the two neighbours would go a long way in resolving not only Kashmir but almost all issues between them”, they write.

Long-standing contact

Spy chiefs of both nations have secretly met on several occasions. The former RAW chief, A.K. Verma, and his ISI counterpart, Hamid Gul, met at least twice, highly placed sources told The Hindu , to discuss the prospects of demilitarising the Siachen glacier and addressing Khalistan violence. They met for the first time in the Swiss resort town of Interlaken, the sources said, after contact was brokered through Jordan’s crown prince, Talal bin Hassan, whose Kolkata-born wife, Princess Sarvath el-Hassan, comes from an eminent family with roots in both India and Pakistan.

Mr. Sahay and Lieutenant-General Ehsan-ul-Haq met in the wake of the 2001-2002 near-war between India and Pakistan, as part of a series of high-level contacts that yielded a ceasefire on the Line of Control.

Mr. Sahay's successor, P.K. Hormis Tharakan, also met with his ISI counterpart, Lieutenant-General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, who went on to be Pakistan’s Army chief.

The outcomes of these meetings remain shrouded in secrecy, and three RAW officers connected with them offered varying accounts of their utility in conversations with The Hindu .

The Sahay-Latif paper says that the failure to institutionalise the RAW-ISI channel “defies logic particularly, if the earlier experiences were not too discouraging. It could only be due to lack of political vision and a degree of lack of self- confidence at every level.”

Intelligence Dialogue participants include retired officials A.K. Doval, A.S. Dulat, Shaukat Javed, R.N. Ravi, Sallahuddin Satti and Sikander Afzal.

Peter Jones, Canadian scholar who organises the Ottawa process, said its “goal is that the Dialogue must belong to the regional participants. The topics discussed and the ideas generated must come entirely from the region.”

They might make some noises about it, but are probably feeling very grateful internally. Any Paki actor in a story about Malala is pretty much guaranteed to be bull-cattled shortly after, possibly including the actor's family. I doubt any of them will take that risk.

More details on the drone strike. Short report. Posting in full.
Suspected US drone strike in Khyber
PESHAWAR: A suspected US drone targeted a boat in the waters of the Kabul river in the Khyber tribal region on Saturday, DawnNews reported.
Sources said five people may have died in the attack.
Pakistan condemns drone attacks and says the attacks violate Pakistan’s “sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

Pakistan moreover maintains that drone strikes are counter-productive, entail loss of innocent civilian lives and have human rights and humanitarian implications apart from setting dangerous precedents in inter-state relations.

The attack comes days after the US warned Pakistan that coalition support reimbursements and security assistance could be held up if land routes remained closed for movement of US and Nato cargo to and from Afghanistan.

The warning came in US Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel’s Monday visit to Pakistan during which he met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Raheel Sharif.

Hagel’s trip, which is also the first by an American defence secretary to Pakistan in four years, followed US decision to suspend the use of land routes through Pakistani territory in the wake of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf’s protests against drone attacks.

My apologies. According to 'The News' the drone strike was 'on the Afghan side of the border'. So, IK can sleep well tonight!

Protests in Pakistan after Quader Mollah’s execution in Bangladesh
Jamaat-ud-Daawa leaders also condemned the execution of Mollah. They said that instead of raising its voice against the injustice, the Pakistan government was busy in potato and onion trade with India.
:rotfl:
How will they make aloo gosht with out either of them hain ji ?
They also said that Bangladesh had backtracked on the historic pact between the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Bangladesh leader Sheikh Mujibur Rehman, which stated that both the countries would not take vengeful action against any person for his role before and during the 1971 war.
Dont the SDRE Bongs know that they have an obligation towards the pakis for saving the rice they would have to feed the 90000+ paki mom(wax)-een soldiers

Oh and someone give these retards a history book (not from paki curriculum) to read how pakis keep up pacts.

Madrassa Math at work: Pakis double their GDP income growth from last year
GDP growth has increased to 5.1pc, says math-whiz Sharif
the country’s economic growth had increased to 5.1 per cent from last year’s 2.9pc
We want to take the GDP growth rate to 7pc over the next four years
When pointed to the dismal economic metrics all around and asked "how did this miracle happen overnight", the Loin of Pakjab had no answer. Instead, he looked at his cheat sheets and blubbered: "Just like that: Abracadabra, Alakazam, Hocus pocus, Presto-chango, Shazam, Sim sala bim, Tirratarratorratarratirratarratum". Don't forget. The supposedly 5.1% GDP growth (even though it is actually a quarterly increase, which sharif did not clarify) is more than India's annual 4.8%. So there. Eat your hearts out Yindoos.

Seems like happy days for pakisatan. GSP+ status from E.U even though pakisatan did not abolish "death penalty", resumption of dialogue even though it did not take any action against 26/11 perpetrators.

Pakistan says set to ‘partially’ resume talks with India
Pakistan on Saturday said it is set to “partially” resume dialogue with India through talks on individual issues such as power trade, the visa regime and confidence-building measures.
“Comprehensively it (the dialogue) is not happening. It is happening at the individual level,” said Sartaj Aziz, adviser to the prime minister on national security and foreign affairs.
He was responding to questions about the resumption of the India-Pakistan dialogue at a conference here. “Like the trade secretaries are going to meet, a meeting on power purchase is going to take place. There would be talks on some CBMs like visa. So (dialogue) will be resumed partially,” he said.
Aziz did not give any time frame for these meetings. The bilateral dialogue process was disrupted for over two years after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks carried out by members of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. Though the talks resumed in early 2011, bilateral relations took a hit early this year after five Indian soldiers were killed in an attack by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control.
Fierce exchanges of fire at the LoC claimed the lives of soldiers on both sides. and both countries accused each other of violating a 2003 ceasefire agreement. The tensions eased following a meeting between the Prime Ministers of both countries in New York in September.
Since then, several meetings have taken place between officials and leaders of the two sides. India’s external affairs minister Salman Khurshid met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Colomdo on the sidelines of the Commonwealth heads of government meeting in November.
Aziz then travelled to India to attend a foreign ministers’ meet. Sharif’s brother, Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, is in India and met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday. PTI

^^ I cant believe Iran really believed that pakistan could finance $2b. I think Iran and India together have screwed pakistan royally in this deal. The pipeline built so far will be used to connect India through Chabahar port. The more I see, Iran took pakistan for a ride and India remained out of the picture due to unkil's sactions. And now that the sanctions are eased Russia, Iran, India and Afghanistan can come together to form a new trade route spanning across Indian subcontinent and central asia, but excluding "south asia". Pakis entered the deal thinking they could blackmail America, tried to punch above their weight and now are fked as usual.
