The Pakistan Army, which is alleged to have huge business interests, must acquire a television channel to counter the growing penetration of Indian TV and news channels in the country, a senior army officer has suggested.

The unusual recommendation has been made in one of the strategy papers written for the prestigious 'Green Book' of the Pakistan Army that provides rare insights into its ongoing internal debates, The News daily reported today.

It said "Indian media invasion could not be countered during Kargil episode".

The strategy papers, written by uniformed {more like uninformed!} professionals, are part of a special chapter in the Green Book titled 'Sub-conventional Warfare'......

Pakistan pilot's sandwich demand delays flight by over 2 hours

"LAHORE: A foodie pilot delayed a New York-bound Pakistan International Airlines' flight by two and a half hours because he wanted to take sandwiches, which weren't in approved menu, aboard the plane.
PIA flight Pk-711, scheduled for New York via Manchester, was ready for departure on Saturday from Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore at 6.45am (local time). The catering department served the approved menu, including lunch, peanuts, chips and biscuits but flight captain Noushad asked them to serve him sandwiches.
The catering staff expressed their inability to serve anything beyond the approved menu and also informed him of the sensitivity of the flight's departure time. The staff told him that sandwiches could only be arranged by placing an order to a five-star hotel in the city, which would take more than two hours.
The captain remained adamant and said no matter what he needed his sandwiches......"

The National Assembly on Monday passed a resolution against hanging of Jamaat-i-Islami Bangladesh leader Abdul Qadir Molla for his ‘loyalty’ with Pakistan during the events of 1971.

The resolution about hanging of Bangladeshi leader said, “This House expresses serious concern over the execution of 65 year old JI leader Ameer Abdul Qadir Molla by the Bangleshi government only for siding with Pakistan in 1971 and condoles with JI Bangladesh and the family of the deceased… This House demands from the government of Bangladesh not to give new life to matters of 1971 and close all the cases against the leadership of JI in Bangladesh.”

Before adopting the resolution, Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan described the capital punishment to Abdul Qadir Molla as “judicial murder”. He regretted that a person was hanged who remained associated with the cause of united Pakistan till the fall of Dhaka. He said that after 42 years to those events, there should be a general pardon for all as excesses were committed from both sides.

There are extremists on both sides and South Asia should work towards eradicating illiteracy and unemployment which causes such genocide from Pakistan Army.

As many three people were killed and at least 13 others were injured in a blast near the Gracy Lane area of Rawalpindi on Tuesday evening, Express News reported.
Sub-inspector Amanat Ali of the Airport Police Station was among those killed.

In absence of reforms, ADB to stop $500m energy loan

ISLAMABAD : Despite sounding positive about the government’s economic initiatives, the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) top man in Islamabad on Tuesday linked a $500 million loan for power sector with meeting a set of conditions to ensure administrative autonomy and financial viability of the energy sector.

To a question, Liepach pointed out that the $6 billion additional funding that Pakistan was seeking over and above the $6.7 billion IMF loan would come from multilateral and bilateral donors. The ADB’s share will be $1 to $1.5 billion, which depends on implementation of reforms.

“The ADB has scaled up assistance in quite a big way and approved $1.5 billion new loans since the new government came to power,” he added. The figure will cross $2 billion by the end of the current financial year.

The bank has approved $900 million for Jamshoro power project, $167.2 million for Power Distribution Enhancement Investment Programme and $430 million for BISP. But all these are project loans.

This year, $460 million has been disbursed. The ADB is also in the process of finalising a new three-year country partnership strategy for 2014-16 under which $3.2 billion will be offered to Pakistan. One-third of this will come in shape of budgetary support.

23 militants killed in North Waziristan

Twenty-three militants were killed in a prolonged exchange of fire with security forces in North Waziristan agency late on Wednesday.

According to military officials, terrorists tried to ambush a convoy of security forces which was returning from Khajori post.

The convoy had gone there to rescue injured soldiers attacked by a suicide bomber on Wednesday when they were offering prayers in a mosque at the post.

Security forces responded by encircling the terrorists and inflicted heavy casualties on them, the sources said. The exchange of fire continued for some time which resulted in the killing of 23 militants.

Three security forces personnel were also injured in the incident. The checkpost is located in Mirali tehsil of North Waziristan.

Suicide bomb attack

On Wednesday, a suicide bomb attack at the military checkpost killed five soldiers and injured over 30, according to news reports.

Apparently the more green soosai-bummed the less green. Apparently they have a pact that TFTAs will stay inside their base and the more pious won't attack. But it was violated. Apparently when a convoy of TFTAs came as relief after soosai bumming, they were attacked. So the TFTAs meted out collective punishment, fired at the village indiscriminately and 23 random Abduls died. That is being claimed as "23 hardcore terrorists killed by front line ally against terrorism".
