If the Nairs and the Ezhavas (a section) come together with the RSS cadres and the non-proselytising Christian groups, as seems to be happening, it is a winning social combination all over the state. I am not sure how much this social base can solidify (also, the Nairs/Ezhavas, RSS cadres, and the Christians have been on opposite sides (LDF, BJP and UDF respectively), so there will be many feathers ruffled and shift is not going to happen overnight) before the polls, but this social combination can win about 18 of the 20 seats in Kerala, and about 100-110 of the 140 seats in the Assembly

Of course the flash news is that AAP winning 6 seats in delhi

Pretty much shows that AAP is kaput, its is a no one outside delhi, so much that they are nothing even in gurgaon and faridabad. The survey specifically does Mumbai and Delhi, meaning other metros (forget cities), AAP is a duck. They got the best propaganda in the last month and despite this, they can only do this much. Things can only go down from here for them.

But to cut to the chase, Congress has succeeded in at least cut BJP seats in 5-10 seats based on this survey. The 6 in delhi should have all come to BJP (well I am not so sure of that, as I have shown in a previous analysis, over years Delhi has become a congress city, and now a AAP city).

Vikatan had a survey 1 week ago where 88% of people in TN had not even heard of AAP. Thats the most probable reason why the jholawalas were not included in the survey

The survey has been conducted in all 7 Parliamentary Constituencies in Delhi, 4 NCR Constituencies (two each in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana) and 10 Parliamentary Constituencies in Mumbai-Thane. Around 2585 respondents have taken part in the survey.

Delhi

Congress which won all the 7 seats in Delhi is projected to win not even a single seat this around as AAP has managed to sway the voters.

Kejriwal’s new government in Delhi is expected to win 6 seats while the Bharatiya Janata Party might get just one.

National-Capital Region (2 seats in Uttar Pradesh, Ghaziabad & Gautam Buddha Nagar)

In the NCR seats of Uttar Pradesh, AAP & BJP are likely to win one seat each in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad. The BSP will lose its single seat. AAP could win in Ghaziabad. BJP chief Rajnath Singh has a big challenge at hand.

National-Capital Region (2 seats in Haryana, Gurgaon & Faridabad)

Kejriwal’s party hasn’t made much of an impact in Haryana as the figures reveal that BJP is likely to snatch Congress’ two seats in the region. Both AAP & Congress are left empty-handed here.

Mumbai and Thane

It might be a matter of concern for AAP if they decided to field candidates in Mumbai in coming Lok Sabha elections. The question everyone in everyone’s mind is how the AAP will perform in India’s financial capital. If we examine Mumbai’s voting history, then the party has a challenge on its hands as the city is lethargic when it comes to voting. The Anna movement also didn’t find success out here.

Let’s look at the results. Despite little gain in vote share in Mumbai, BJP is seen gaining its hold in 6 seats with ally Shiv Sena. The Congress & NCP’s tally looks a little better out here as it is expected to win 3 seats while the AAP manages to garner just one.

The bad news here for the Congress is that it could give up its 5 seats when compared to the earlier general election. BJP has a big reason to cheer from the snap poll in this region as it increases its count from one to five.

18 % of the total respondents in Mumbai have voted for the social activist-turned political Arvind Kejriwal while 51 per cent have voted for BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi.

42 % of Delhi-NCR respondents feel Kejriwal is a better choice, while 45% have preferred Modi.

Rahul Gandhi has garnered 16 % of voters overall. 22 per cent prefer him in Mumbai while 11 per cent in Delhi-NCR.

So how come that 45% in delhi prefer modi while AAP gets 6 seats. Basically congress voters will also vote AAP. But bottom line, BJP has lost delhi's 6 seats for now. Can they get it back, I think they can.

I want to coin new term, Lutyeniged, means whatever your inclination, once you are accustomed to power brokers circles of New Delhi and wants to crave niceties like elite club memberships, bungalow in Lutyen zone with all fanfare.

Its a disease, where resistant can be found only in few personalities. I think amongst all political lot, BJP has more resistance to Lutyeniged Syndrome. Even commies are infected with it. The latest enterent to this disease club is Arvind Kejriwal. He wants a posh bungalow and camp office and one by one he is getting symptoms of Lutyeniged syndrome, i.e. Digit security (Z in case of AK), Blue Battis, etc.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but IMO we on BR should have tracked the various communist factions across India as they left their underground shelters and silently crawled into the AAP "Hells Keep". It might not be too late if we manage to track down the main mass of followers who should be making their moves soon. I wouldnt be surprised if the Mahendra Karma execution was the required nationwide trigger for all the comrades.

Ford Foundation: Managing dissent in India

The unease in sections of the intelligentsia over the spectacular rise of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the run-up to the Delhi elections has intensified with Arvind Kejriwal’s bizarre excuses to not form the Government despite unconditional support from the Congress. Since many persons have had deep reservations over the foreign funding of Kejriwal and others who have taken public positions on several issues, this may be the time to examine if the West is controlling dissent in India with a view to pushing its own agenda and promoting its corporate interests.

As some information regarding the American think tank, Ford Foundation, is already in the public domain, it may be pertinent to ask if certain persons and the causes they espouse draw strength from support by powerful Western agencies. As is well known, ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan was disgraced and professionally ruined because a Western power wanted India to stop work on cryogenics technology. He has recovered his public esteem only in recent weeks, and the full extent of the disgraceful conspiracy is yet to be revealed.

Certain well-connected non-government organisations (NGOs) are richly funded by the Indian Government as also Western agencies; their key officials behave as if they are at par with government and resist coming under the Right to Information Act to evade public accountability. A closer look at West-funded individuals and agencies is warranted on account of some recent developments.

Serious questions were first raised when Maharashtra activist Anna Hazare began a high decibel movement for a Jan Lokpal Bill under the banner of India Against Corruption. Hazare himself has received an award from the Atlanta-based CARE, which is part of the American establishment and often embedded with the military on occupation missions. His associate Kiran Bedi, former IPS officer, received the Rockefeller Foundation funded Magsaysay Award in 1994; and Arvind Kejriwal received a youth award that was funded by the Ford Foundation.

At the time of the Lokpal agitation, Kabir, an NGO run by Arvind Kejriwal and his close associate Manish Sisodia (the newly elected MLA from Patparganj), reportedly received grants totalling $3,97,000 from the Ford Foundation.

Besides Sisodia, between 2007 to 2011, some high profile persons who were recipients of the Foundation’s generosity include Indira Jaising, director of an NGO called Lawyers’ Collective which promotes human rights for marginalised people $12,40,000; Yogendra Yadav, fellow, Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (and front ranking leader of the AAP) $3,50,000; Pratap Bhanu Mehta, director, Centre for Policy Research $687,000; and Nandan Nilekani, president NCAER, $2,30,000.

As is well known, Nandan Nilekani persuaded the Government of India to permit him to implement a nationwide biometrics project for the entire population of India, at national expense, without Parliamentary sanction. Much has been written about this project, but it bears reiteration that this highly sensitive data is being maintained by private companies; both Nilekani and the Union Home Ministry have admitted that there are no foolproof safeguards in place to protect the data; the worldwide expose of snooping by US intelligence agencies into the highest offices of even friendly governments has left the Government of India unconcerned.

Subsequent attempts to link the Unique Identity-Aadhaar project with Central subsidies do not explain why sections of the population that are not availing of subsidies were forced into the project and why the Delhi Government made it mandatory for registration of property. Till this day, there is no clear objective behind the project, which continues at public expense, with Nilekani enjoying the rank of a Minister of State. Meanwhile, multiple points have been created where the data can be collected and leaked.

Yogendra Yadav, a CSDS scholar and psephologist, created a huge ruckus when the Human Resources Development Ministry sacked him as an advisor to the University Grants Commission when he joined the fledgling political party, AAP. He called it political vendetta. The moot point, however, is how persons intimately associated with Government and policy making bodies are permitted to avail of foreign funding and to wear multiple hats.

Most interesting are Pratap Bhanu Mehta and Indira Jaising, because they have suddenly taken a public position on the 2G judgment and Justice AK Ganguly at a time and in a manner that is distinctly odd.

In his column in the Indian Express on December 12, 2013, Pratap Bhanu Mehta criticised the Supreme Court judgment on Section 377. He has every right to his opinion, but it raises eyebrows when, amidst a long declamation on liberal values, he suddenly throws a stone at the Supreme Court judgment on the 2G spectrum scandal, and then moves on without any explanation. Mehta writes, “It is a bit graceless to single out individual judges, but then how else do we convey criticism of judgements and not have it get lost in an abstraction called the court? Many had pointed out that the much-feted 2G judgment was legally appalling…”

Readers will recall that Justice AK Ganguly and Justice GS Singhvi had cancelled 122 licences in the 2G scam in February 2012. That judgement is now being attacked at a time when the second judge on the bench, Mr Singhvi, has also just retired.

It is pertinent that from the time of the sensational allegation against Justice Ganguly, many in the legal fraternity have felt that the 2G judgment, in which many Indian and foreign corporates have high stakes, is at the root of his problems. Subramanian Swamy has said as much publicly, and this is the reason why some distinguished persons have come out in defence of the judge.

As the matter is still awaiting resolution, no more need be said. But it is startling that the Lawyer’s Collective director Indira Jaising, who is also Additional Solicitor General of India, should suddenly access and disclose part of the proceedings of the Supreme Court panel that investigated the allegation made by a law intern against Justice Ganguly. It is unthinkable that she could have got a copy from the Chief Justice of India; but copies were given to Justice Ganguly and the intern. Clearly some kind of shadow-boxing is afoot.

India needs to get serious about the dangers posed to the nation at multiple levels due to the easy access that foreigners and foreign agencies have at top levels of society and Government. Only recently, the Union Defence Ministry was shocked to learn that Army Chief General Bikram Singh accepted a US military award, the Legion of Merit, without Government clearance. General Singh was on a visit to America from December 2 to 5; India is planning to purchase M-777 ultra light howitzers and Javelin anti-tank missiles from the United States.

Angry India Inc hits out at AAP's decision to scrap FDI in Delhi

India Inc on Monday expressed strong displeasure over the Delhi government's decision to withdraw approval to FDI in multibrand retail, saying the move was likely to hinder foreign investments flowing into the country.

"It is unfortunate that the Delhi government has chosen not to allow FDI in multibrand retail in Delhi. This will discourage international retailers planning to enter India," chairman of CII National Retail Committee J Suresh told PTI.

In a significant decision on Monday, Aam Aadmi Party government withdrew the approval given by the previous Sheila Dikshit dispensation to foreign direct investment (FDI) in multibrand retail in Delhi.

Terming the Delhi government's decision as anti-investment and one that sends a wrong signal to foreign investors, industry body Assocham said: "If one party reverses the decision of its rival dispensation upon change of guards, the policy and political risks for global investors would definitely increase in India, scaring them away".

To be fair to ABP News, on their website as well as channel, they repeatedly are flashing that Modi is way ahead of anyone in the PM race and in Delhi and Mumbai also he is ahead of Kejru. They also say that while delhi seems to go the aap way, Mumbai all set to go to BJP in the same breath.

Anyway according to twitterati, Cvoter and csds will be releasing their all india projections before republic day. So expect AAP/Kejru to lose quite some traction in media, becos both these surveys are going to project BJP alone getting close to 200 with some 40-45 seats in UP.

I feel sorry for Kumar Vishwas. I believe the guy is sincere and genuinely believes he is doing something good. But he will be eaten up and thrown away like a chewing gum by rancid leftists. Kejriwal will dump him soon after GE once the chewing gum is no longer sweet. Mallika Sarabhai is already out with her attack on Vishwas.

In a way its good that AAP has become a vessel for all the ill that plagues India. All the scorpions will come out now. It gives a good opportunity to kill their credibility in a single shot all at once.

Gabber Singh told me in 1979 -- Jo dar gaya samjo mar haya . Well, if you are afraid of getting laughed out, you lost. In activism the FIRST thing you need to cultivate is immunity to fear of being laughed out. I am not bragging, but you can see anti-RM-elements laughing at me all the time. And this this is nothing, in 2002-2004 when I was writing against corruption/nepotism of Indian judges from supreme to lower courts, and explaining Jury System as solution, almost every pro-judge anti-Jury element used to throw mud at me 24*7 basis. Even today, when I write less than 5 posts a week in only 2 threads, you see anti-RM-element asking all to ignore my posts.

So yes, if you tell FACT to people that NaMo is being forced by MNC-owners to give NDA tickets to MNC-agents in BJP, then most people would like to shut you down. Because it makes their favorite hero appear weak before MNC-owners than too inside India !! Well, fact is fact. NaMo despite all his might and posture is no match against Rockefellar and Rothschilde. And RSS is puny compared to Vatican machineray and protestent churches which are now more powerful, organized and resourceful than Vatican. Earlier the nationalists know these FACTS, better. Delay can be deadly.

So danger is real but fear is imaginary. And pls copy-paste all famous dialogs on fear. But pls work to spread these facts asap.

Research is consistent with RM-ji's hypothesis of voter disengagement after a dose of direct democracy.. but for other reasons (than governance).

Power to the people? Cognitive and motivational mechanisms of disengagement from direct democracy

Direct democracy ostensibly brings power to change laws to ordinary citizens. Understanding such self-rule is timely and important given the profound dissatisfaction with representation citizens currently report (e.g., frustration regarding the inertia in Congress). However, state ballot initiatives used in direct democracy may alienate citizens because the language is often complex, perhaps causing citizens to abstain and vote “no” if they vote at all. Given confounds in the observational literature and the shortage of experiments, we tested causal pathways of these theorized effects. Our experiments suggest that higher ballot initiative complexity suppresses political engagement: Lowered policy comprehension leads to lower perceived efficacy, greater reported likelihood of abstaining from voting, and a motivated increase in trust in government institutions. Furthermore, the low processing fluency of a complex policy results in a less positive attitude toward the policy, which in turn causes a greater reported likelihood of voting against the policy if one votes at all. Thus, the form that direct democracy often takes ironically encourages citizens to outsource policymaking to elites and to maintain the status quo.
