What exactly was the deal between Shariff brothers and the Taliban? No attacks in Punjab or just Lahore/Raiwind?

How much time before "Kashmir focused" terror groups turn their attention on their masters? That will be the real 'karma is a b!tch' moment.

Now, what will Pakistan do ? The attack on the Islamabad court is certainly a terror attack and the TTP is most likely the perpetrator, though Shahidullah Shahid claims otherwise. This is understandable because like the Mohmand Branch of the TTP that killed 23 FC soldiers, this attack could have been also by some non-state actors of the Islamic Caliphate of Waziristan. Clearly, Pakistan cannot withdraw from the ceasefire that it has already announced. I am sure that the Caliphate would conduct a thorough enquiry and bring the culprits to book in a Shariah court. Meanwhile, TTP's demand that talks be 'uninterrupted and uninterruptible' seems based on sound logic. One can guess therefore that the non-state actors of the Caliphate could keep on harassing and attacking the Pakistani state even as the talks proceed because they feel genuinely aggrieved by the actions of the GoP against 'Muslims'. The Caliphate itself does not provide any support to these non-state actors except diplomatic, political and moral support.

From NightWatch
Pakistan: The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (Pakistani Taliban -TTP) on Saturday announced a one-month ceasefire to allow the resumption of peace talks that had collapsed following last month's slaying of 23 paramilitary soldiers by the group's Mohmand chapter. "After taking into consideration appeals of religious scholars, the TTP announces a month-long ceasefire in the best interests of Islam and the country," the group's spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid said in a statement. "The TTP senior leadership advises all subgroups to respect the call for a ceasefire and abide by it and completely refrain from all jihadi activities in this time period," he added. The Mohmand tribe announced it will keep the ceasefire. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday directed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif to "hold the guns" and stop the airstrikes, an official source claimed.

Comment: The threat of a large, visible punitive operation achieved a short term ceasefire. A month is about as long as either side can maintain a ceasefire. It provides an opportunity to exchange and discuss demands and not much more because the TTP seeks ultimately to replace the government in Islamabad. Nevertheless, it is a positive development, though the TTP will use it to rest and replenish stocks.

Strategic depth is an orphan with no fathers. Mirza Aslam Beg says he and Pak Army had nothing to do with Afghan jihad. It was all CIA, ISI and Zia ul Haq's few friends. Benazir Bhutto not Army ordered failed Jalalabad offensive.

Najam Sethi came from India in 1963. The Bin Laden killed was not bin Laden.

Oh and TTP are Umrika's and India's paid agents but Pakistan should not fight them. Pakistan should talk to them because they represent 20 million Pashtuns on both sides of Durand Line and no one ever ruled in Kabul without FATA's approval.

Musharraf's lawyer was quick to issue a statement yesterday after the court attack saying Mushy will not be able to attend court in this security situation.

It is possible this attack was carried out by TTP - Punjab secondary branch - Musharraf tertiary branch.

Judge, 10 others killed in Islamabad blasts, firing
Malsi was Here
( 496 SooiSide Bombers Left)
SLAMABAD: Lucky 11 people, including additional sessions judge Rafaqat Awan, were killed and 29 others wounded on Monday during a gun and bomb attack in a court in the capital city’s F-8 area, DawnNews reported.Asad Mansoor, a spokesperson for the Ahrarul Hind which is a lesser-known splinter group of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while talking to Dawn.com claimed that his group was responsible for today's court attack. The group had recently parted ways with the TTP over holding of talks with the government. He claimed that the court was targeted as the prevailing system in the country was un-Islamic which included the courts and its administration. He added that their struggle would continue till Sharia law was implemented in Pakistan.According to police, two blasts took place inside the court's premises, one near the lawyers' chambers and the other outside another office. Moreover, lawyers fled from their chambers seeking shelter from bullets as fear and panic gripped the premises.Officers at the scene told AFP the incident began when a defendant was brought before the court and his associates tried to break him free.Another senior-ranking police official said the incident could be a terror attack but nothing could be said with certainty as yet.According to police authorities, militants entered the chambers of judge Rafaqat Awan and opened fire on him. Initial medical reports said that the judge was hit by three bullets.

The hearings of cases scheduled for the day were postponed.Subsequently, police and special forces were deployed in the court and emergency was declared in hospitals. The capital city is currently under high alert and the Red Zone was also sealed. The head and feet of the alleged suicide attacker were found.Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani took notice of the incident and summoned interior secretary, inspector general (IG) and commissioner Islamabad in this regard.Justice Jillani said that such attacks would not discourage the morale of lawyers and judges and also called for those behind the attack to be brought to justice.Meanwhile in Lahore, lawyers of the Pakistan Bar Council announced a boycott of court proceedings.Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Shahidullah Shahid denied the outlawed group's involvement in the attack.Shahidullah Shahid said TTP condemned the attack on the court in Islamabad, adding that recent terror attacks should not be linked with the organisation. The spokesman further said the outlawed organisation would not violate the ceasefire it had announced on Saturday.Interior minister Nisar Ali Khan had responded to the Taliban announcement saying that the government had decided to halt air strikes against Taliban militants. An FIR of the attack was lodged against unknown persons at the Maragalla police station.Pakistan has been in the grip of a bloody homegrown Taliban insurgency since 2007 but attacks within the capital have been very rare in recent years.

Meanwhile a few gems tumble out

http://tribune.com.pk/story/678347/govt ... amiul-haq/
The government and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) should not blame each other for any attack and should look for “the third enemy,” stated Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Samiul Haq (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq while talking to the media in Islamabad. :rotfl:
Both Pakistan and TTP should stop pointing fingers and instead make progress on core issue of Sharia in a region with nuclear flashpoint where 300 million people live with less than $1 a day. And Not to be outdone Imran Khan says

http://tribune.com.pk/story/678246/tack ... -of-talks/
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday urged the government to resume peace dialogue with Taliban, adding that if the talks failed and anybody tried to forcefully impose any system in Pakistan, he would himself seek a gun and take active part in resistance.
He didnt clarify what side he'd be fighting for

All the while

http://www.geo.tv/article-139849-TTP-sp ... ad-attack-
Asad Mansoor, a spokesman for Ahrar-ul-Hind (AH), which recently split from the main Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) umbrella group, telephoned Geo News to take the credit for the attack.

"We claim responsibility for the attack, we are an independent group and have no links with TTP," he told Geo News.

"We were a part of TTP earlier but now we operate independently."
Waiting for Shahidullah Shahid to say "We have no control over Ahrar-Ul-Hind, but if the core issue of Sharia is solved, we can use our good offices to persuade them to withdraw". Old foggies might remember this is the exact same statement Sartaj Aziz told in India during Kargil attack, replacing Ahrar-Ul-Hind with Mujahideen and Sharia with J&K. 8)

ISLAMABAD:

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has categorically denied any role in the Islamabad gun-and-suicide attack. Soon after the attackers struck F-8, the TTP maintained that it would not be responsible for any violence during the month-long ceasefire, including the attack at Islamabad’s district courts. TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid also said it is not the responsibility of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to investigate who are behind the terror activities in the country.
He, however, said that anyone belonging to the Taliban will be questioned if found guilty of any incident during the ceasefire.

“We have already issued instructions to all of our colleagues to stop all violent activities since the ceasefire has been announced. We will not be linked to any incident during this period,” Shahid said in the statement. “The TTP is not involved in the Islamabad attack and neither are any of its colleagues.”

The TTP spokesperson resolved, “We are bound to follow Sharia and are struggling for Sharia. We consider violation of the ceasefire contrary to Sharia and [hence] forbidden.” 8)

“The inimical elements to Islam and the country are indulging in politics of propaganda, despite a categorical announcement by the Taliban. The Pakistani media has also adopted an irresponsible attitude,” he claimed.

The TTP’s ceasefire announcement enjoys the full backing of the Central Political Shura and the chief, Maulana Fazlullah, and no unit of the TTP can violate this ceasefire decision.

Lal Masjid reaction

Separately, Islamabad’s Lal Masjid dispelled the impression that it could be behind the brazen attack.

Hafiz Ehtesham Ahmed, the spokesman for the Lal Majid Shuhada Foundation told The Express Tribune that they have condemned the court’s attack and has no links with it.

He said the foundation’s leader, Haroon Rashid, has also condemned the attack. He also said the foundation is contemplating taking legal action against a section of the media that has tried to link the incident with Lal Masjid.
My suggestion to Pakistan gobarmint is that take notice of this incident, declare Ahrar ul Hind to be backed by Jews and close the investigation by calling for resolution of Kashmir for peace in the region.

Did you notice how one threatening phone call can cause such glowing "fair and balanced" coverage of the TTP? Express tribune editor is browning his pants and has turned into a mouthpiece of the taliban.

Meanwhile

http://tribune.com.pk/story/678666/imam ... -on-track/
The Imam-e-Kaaba, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Ibne Abdul Aziz al Sudais, has urged the government and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan to pursue peace talks, which he deems as the only way to shun violence in an Islamic state.
In a crucial meeting with one of the key Taliban intermediaries – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq – Imam-e-Kaaba urged the government and Taliban committees to keep the proposed dialogue intact as “this is what Islam teaches Muslims”.
So saudis are involved now. Also apparently the TTP has given Sandwich Samy a list of their women and children held by the TFTAs to blackmail the purer folk. Sandwich Samy wants them released immediately.

hehe.. true. btw, now that Pak "liberal" news outlets won't write about Taliban, I expect more and more articles on Indian "right wing". After all they have to maintain their "liberal image".

I am amazed at how nonchalantly the terror chiefs / spokespersons call up the media and give out their views in Pakistan post terror attacks as if there is a hotline between media and terror organizations. Fun times.

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/opinion/04 ... ar-posture
India’s emerging nuclear posture
Rose Waazzo Ass Gaal
Given that India’s nuclear weapons programme was originally motivated more by the prestige factor than as a necessary means to meet real security threats, a gradual shift in India’s nuclear posture over the past few years has been viewed as worrisome by the community of strategic thinkers. The statements of Indian policymakers and military generals suggest a significant departure in its declaratory, if not its operational variation, from the official nuclear doctrine as revised in 2003. Influenced by a strong scientific community, India is moving away from its unequivocal policies of no first use (NFU) and ‘maintaining a credible minimum deterrent’. India’s development of its nuclear delivery capabilities can further play a destabilising role by triggering a nuclear arms race in the region. Because of its geopolitical weight, New Delhi’s choices will have significant implications both for deterrence stability in the region and the future of the evolving global nuclear order.

India’s 2003 nuclear doctrine pledged a strict adherence to a policy of NFU for its nuclear weapons. However, in 2010, Shiv Shankar Menon, India’s National Security Advisor, delivered a speech suggesting NFU policy be applicable only against non-nuclear weapons states. It implies that India no longer adheres to a similar pledge against Pakistan and China. Some experts believe India is also planning to build about 400 nuclear warheads, at least four times what Pakistan currently possesses. Emboldened by US support for its nuclear ambitions, India has embarked on a ‘ready nuclear arsenal policy’. This readiness to consider first use of nuclear weapons represents a doctrinal shift toward nuclear war fighting as opposed to a purely retaliatory posture. The Indian nuclear establishment has also ditched its long-held claim of maintaining a ‘credible minimum deterrent’. Although much confusion surrounds what ‘minimum’ means in numbers, credible minimum deterrence is no longer the driving aim of India’s nuclear doctrine. Achieving a ‘credible minimum deterrent’ towards both of its primary strategic adversaries, China and Pakistan, means substantially different levels of capability. What is credible toward China will not be minimum toward Pakistan, and what is minimum toward Pakistan cannot be credible toward China. The probability of a major war with China is not very high so India’s nuclear posture should be framed keeping in view its primary deterrent adversary which is Pakistan and against whom they initially wanted to build a credible minimum deterrent. In addition, China is so advanced in nuclear capability that perhaps India will never be able to match China’s nuclear arsenal or delivery capability. ( Off Course , China is One of Your Heavenly Fathers ) But the prevailing attitudes toward nuclear weaponry among Indian nuclear security managers betray an over-obsession with China. Such attitudes will achieve nothing and start an unending nuclear arms race in South Asia. India’s conventional superiority could easily deter Pakistan from any attack against India, so India’s nuclear capability never had a ‘strategic’ justification but was a desire for ‘prestige’.

There is no gainsaying the fact that India’s nuclear establishment is going down this potentially dangerous path due to the overriding influence of nuclear scientists and technical bureaucracies. Like Pakistan, the civilian political leadership, due to complications of domestic politics, is not in a position to exercise authority over India’s vast nuclear establishment. The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the main organ responsible for determining India’s emerging nuclear posture, continues to waste money on the aforementioned immature and risky adventures, stupidly touting them as ‘world class capabilities’. DRDO officials publicly concede that most of these projects do not have clearance from the top political authorities in the country. For instance, the development of Agni VI, capable of carrying four to six warheads, in February 2013 had no sanction from the Union government of India. This policy of indulging in dangerous nuclear adventures may imperil global security in the long run. India’s highest civilian security leadership seriously needs to rein in the nuclear establishment and wrest control of India’s nuclear doctrine from parochial organisational interests. The security of Pakistan’s nuclear programme has always received attention in the international media due to domestic political instability and growing internal militant threats. In contrast the security of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has been breached many times but there is little public discussion about threats to the security of India’s huge civilian and military nuclear infrastructure. Instead, an overriding assumption exists that relevant agencies in India provide enough security to nuclear infrastructure. The fact of the matter is that no nuclear state in the world is totally immune to security threats to its nuclear assets, or to the simple risk of safety-related accidents. The current changes in India’s strategic posture and deployment patterns, whether politically sanctioned or not, will surely force China and Pakistan Joined Together Like Newly Wedded Couple to respond in ways that will likely prove detrimental to Indian and global security. India has been modernising and expanding its forces both vertically and horizontally. Despite the world attention focused on Pakistan, developments regarding India’s nuclear doctrine may convert the country into a potential source of nuclear terrorism. The mad pursuit of research and development in Ballistic Missile Defence is totally inconsistent with a no-first-use posture and rather adds to unpredictability and uncertainty. Both India and Pakistan should halt expansion of their nuclear arsenals in order to enhance regional security.

So there is fear of a nuclear arms race with Pakistan.

What exactly is Pakistan going to race India with? "How to build tritium boosted weapons"-internet version? Madrasa graduate mathematicians and nuclear chemists; creaky, exploding centrifuges; 2 kg satellites for early warning; row boats with glass bottoms as a pretend second strike capability; nuclear missiles that only go in the general direction they are fired?

India is going for the same definition of minimum as the Cold War combatants-MAD. To believe there is a finite element in fighting nuclear war is a delusion.(Which makes abolition a matter of urgency).

The last time I checked Pakistan was a fourth world country much like Eritrea in as much as both are dying beyond their means. The Indians can put $10 billion into nuclear arms over the next three years without breaking into a sweat.

Sure let's race.

Musharraf treason hearing postponed after judges say court not safe
ISLAMABAD: The three-member bench of the special court was a no-show for the hearing of the treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf, stating that the court was not secure, Express News reported on Tuesday.
Referring to yesterday’s attack inside a district court in Islamabad, the judges told the registrar that the special court was also located in the same city and was not safe, therefore they would not appear in court today.
Due to the absence of the judges, the hearing was postponed to March 5.

‘39 militant outfits operating in KP’
PESHAWAR: Parliamentary party leaders of the treasury and opposition benches in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly put their heads together in a closed-door meeting here Monday and discussed prevailing security situation in the province.

Sources said senior officials briefed parliamentary party leaders about the law and order situation and said 39 militant outfits were operating in the province, while 20 other groups functioning in the garb of Pakistani Taliban were involved in extortion, kidnapping for ransom and other criminal activities.
QWP member Ms Meraj Hamayun Khan said under the education emergency plan, the government had set the target of enrolling 2.5 million children in primary schools in the province.

She, however, said only 200,000 children had been enrolled so far, while 2.3 million children were still out of school.

The MPA said the working group on education had made a five-year plan and eight-point plans for education that included teachers training programme, mass enrolment of students, rehabilitation of damaged schools and adult literacy programme.

She said according to official estimates, around 700,000 children quit education due to closure and destruction of schools.

Ms Meraj, who was a member of the working group, said 14,000 vacancies of teachers were lying vacant across the province.

Beyond borders: Getting rid of partition’s ‘negative baggage’
LAHORE: “The few qualities, which people think I possess, are not only due to the land I live in now – India – but also have to do with the land I lived in as a young man, now called Pakistan”, journalist and author Kuldip Nayar said on Monday. He was speaking at the launch of his book Beyond the Lines.
Nayar said he found the killing during 1947 on both sides of the border shameful. He said official figures suggested that around 1 million lives had been lost, but in a personal encounter with Lord Mountbatten he had told him that the figure was nearly 25 million. He said as a young lawyer he had wanted to live in Pakistan, but circumstances {I wonder what circumstances were these} had forced him to do otherwise. “And I am sure that the situation I faced in Sialkot was faced by several people in India who were forced to move to Pakistan.” He said that despite the harsh memories, he thought it necessary to get rid of the ‘negative baggage’ from Partition. “My dream is that this region be transformed like the European Union where each country maintains its sovereignty as it exists under a larger South Asian identity.”

Have never understood the fascination of "some" Indians with Pakistani roots (and in the case below of a Pakistani Hindu) to have a delusional opinions about the genocidal people of Pakistan - why is Islamo-pandering so strong amongst Hindus who have seen the true nature of this ideology in Pakistan?

Tina Vachani - Routes 2 Roots

So - this woman was sent to India from Pakistan at 14 due to "prevailing conditions" - and now she runs an NGO to essentially fool Indians about the true nature of Pakistanis.

Greeting the crowd with an ‘Assalam-o-alaikum’, Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt said Nayar’s emotional epicentre lay in Pakistan. “He has a kind of glow whenever he visits this country”. Bhatt said Nayar intended to relive the stories and turn them into a source of healing for the region. ”.

This is a really weird statement. The Taliban spokesperson says that the violation of the ceasefire has been done by forces inimical to Islam and the country.

The country? Which country?

This means that the TTP, as their name suggests, accept the geopolitical boundaries of Pakistan from the Durand line to the LoC. If they don't accept that, what country is the moron talking about? The fact is that "country" has been preserved in its admittedly decrepit state by the Pakistan army and the US, both of which the TTP are fighting. So the TTP are themselves inimical to the country. What is the man going on about? is it hashish?

I have noticed 2 things in common with them

1) They are closely connected with INC and foreign funded NGO circuit.

2) If they are resident in India, their Children and Grand children are NRI =, safe from consequences of their actions

3) they are Foreign citizens

Basically it is financially rewarding to take the stand they take and they do not feel the pain of terror victims or soldiers.
