Some time ago, I thought that there was no credible BJP presence in Odisha, and it may not get more than a couple of seats at the maximum, if it is lucky.

Now hearing BJP going to takeover as the main opposition in Odisha, pushing INC to 3rd place.

Now that NaMo is more or less sure he will get the numbers, and may not need to depend on Naveen Patnaik's MPs, NaMo has decided to go all out and attack BJD.

Considering that Odisha Assembly Elections are being held simultaneously with Lok Sabha elections, NaMo wave could give Odisha's BJP unit a leg up in the Assembly Elections.

As the main opposition, whenever Naveen Patnaik is hauled over the coals in connection with the corruption cases, BJP should be there to take over Odisha.

Shahi Imam asks Muslims to vote for Congress, TMC, flays SP, BSP

"Mamata Banerjee will never be a part of the NDA. Keeping this in mind, we support the TMC," Muslim cleric Shahi Imam Bukhari said.
Congress must fulfil its promises: Shahi Imam
'Communalism, not corruption, the biggest issue'
Backing BSP will be a waste of vote: Shahi Imam
SP failed to protect Muslims: Shahi Imam

I will be cautious about Orissa. The state unit is no-good and without a charismatic leader to take on Naveen. So their capability to capitalize on Modi-wave is not great. Naveen is going to win. BJP will be happy if they get 1-2 seats.

TMC or Cong in WB?
What of pissfulls already with SP and BSP UP?
So, UP SP and BSP gets destroyed so that a consolidation helps Cong? Where do the SP and BSP non-pissfulls orphans go? And what happens with counter-consolidation?

EVEN after election when BSP gets 3 seats ( which I hope ) we ( NDA ) should welcome Mayawati..... She is good sometimes. We need dalit. I will spread sweets the day BSP Dalits joins so-called-upper caste BJP party.

She is valuable. I Like the way Amit Shah Speaks.. Bit Gujju speak

Thnxx for the insight . One recurring theme is : There is anti-congress wave ( even die-hard congis admit hence the rush for RS birth) . What's open to debate is the extent of Modi wave .
Last hope for Congress in UP is : Muslims vote enmasse for single candidate + insignificant drop in BSP's core votebank + 'promised' backstabbing from a particular section of hindus + typical confusing ( read divided ) Jat votes in west UP after initial anger + backroom deal with SP & BSP in place & followed in spirit.
For BJP's best outcome is : drop in Muslim voting coupled with division among BSP& SP-INC ( this time both BSP & SP are claiming ahead in race to defeat BJP by putting good rival candidates ) + getting 5% + (at very minimum) votes from BSP's core votebank + ensuring backstabbing having limited impact + way more than average participation of BJP own votebank + OBC appeal working .
In either scenario BJP's number should either be above 55+ or below 30 . No place in between as per my very limited information.

all regional leaders thrive on <own caste>+minority vote formula.

once the minority vote splits or their own platform is out of power these arrangements will meltdown.

so no need for Biju/Maya et al.

once parties are out of power these prima donnas need to be finished politically, and their cadre and voter base assimilated with appropriate ideological purges.

alternative model is local hardline setups like Shiv Sena that are natural and ideological allies with full intel sharing through RSS.

In whole of North India & Hindi Heartland (JK, HP, PB, DL, HR, RJ, GJ, UK, UP, BR, JH, MP, CG) only state where Congress could get 3 or more seats is Punjab, may be UP.

Congress is also finished in Seemandhra and Tamil Nadu in the South.

I would say for Congress

PB - 4
HR - 1
MP - 1
UP - 3
MH - 6
KA - 9
KL - 9
TG - 5
AS - 7
OR - 1
LD - 1
----------
44 Seats

AAP is getting ZERO seats. Both in LS and in Assembly.

Setback to Congress as key Youth Congress leader joins SAD
http://www.hindustantimes.com/punjab/ja ... 04010.aspx
Already lagging behind its main rival Shiromani Akali Dal in campaigning for Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, the Congress received a major setback on Thursday when former state general secretary of Punjab Youth Congress Monty Sehgal joined SAD in the presence of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Sehgal, who is considered a key strategist of Congress candidate from Jalandhar and former minister Chaudhary Santokh Singh, has been associated with the Chaudhary family for long and is one of the closest friends of Chaudhary’s son and state youth Congress president, Vikram Chaudhary. Sources said it is only because of the strained relations between Vikram and Sehgal, that the latter decided to leave the Congress and joined SAD.

Even BJP couldnt have asked for a better way to ensure few more 1000s of votes land up in their lap.

It almost seems like a BJP masterstroke since any normal undecided guy ( non-IM) would drift away from INC/Head towards the "Hindu right" with such blatant "secularism" on display and the IMs would split all their votes between all the "secular parties".

Thanks, Malayappan-ji. Out of the five seats going to polls on 7, only 1 is certain for the Congress (Kaliabor) and one more is slightly pro-Congress (Dibrugarh). 3 more (Tezpur, Jorhat and Lakhimpur) are in the toss up category, with Lakhimpur being slightly pro-BJP. Nagesh ji,

Follow 5forty3, his exit poll on all 4 states was bang on. The best exit poll provided by any agency. Even his prepoll was good, but his exit polls had 90% correlation with the actual results. He was the only one to predict how BJP screwed up in Chhattisgarh in Phase 1 and how they recovered in Phase 2.

5forty3 has partnered with CRI and will now have podcast on all voting days and have updated by the hour.
