This loophole was first spotted by the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy in 2009, where in the first phase of Andhra polling he pretended to be pro-Telangana and in the next he went virulently against the idea – and won both regions.

This time, nobody has been better able to use this opportunity to micro-cast messages than Narendra Modi, whose campaign has depended on sending tailored messages for each region, complete with a personal appeal. In Amethi, he could be the development messiah picking holes – and potholes - in the Rahul Gandhi story. In Faizabad, he can make subtle references to Ram Rajya, and in West Bengal he can talk of favouring refugees with Durgoshtami in their hearts.

As per rules, the Candidate, his election Agent and Booth agent can inspect polling booths. I think photos appearing here of Rahul are legit. There is no violation. These are photo ops generally. The rigging is always left to non-official "supporters" to accomplish.

I am told that every thing can be examined by the candidates, however he/she cannot enter the polling booth when someone is voting.

The whole party runs on the 'charisma' of gandhi family. If they lose from Amethi then there is no safe seat for them left anywhere in India (well may be Muslim League seat in Kerala). Also it takes away the super human 'image' of gandhi parivar.

Guys,

Don't let the case down by picking the wrong evidence....Smriti Irani is also not a local and is a registered voter in Delhi....SPG personnel cannot come inside, but candidate can come in the presence of Returning Officer and in the photos above, there is no SPG. I have personally seen many candidates of all parties take a tour of polling stations on voting day.

This will keep happening as long as CECs are appointed from among serving bureaucrats. We need a separate cadre for Election Commission that joins EC at young age and retires with it. Too bad the constitution makers couldn't foresee this problem.

If that building is the polling station then it is a violation, if that building is 100 meters away from polling station which houses the polling booths, then it is legal...is that building a Polling Station? From the photo I cannot make that affirmation

that building does not look like a poll both to me, more like something used for the congi base with the voters list and giving out voting chits.

"On the day of the poll, no person who has been assessed to be having a
security threat and therefore given official security shall enter the vicinity
of a polling station premise (within 100 meters) with his security personnel.
Further, on the day of the poll no such person shall move around in a
constituency with his security personnel. If the person provided with
official security happens to be a voter also, then he or she shall restrict his
/ her movement - accompanied by security personnel, to voting only."

This is what the rules state as per EC Code of Conduct

If the Prince is not accompanied by SPG he can move around the constituency otherwise no! Is there any pic of him with his SPG cover? I am not sure if there is any further exemption that EC can give based on Security assessment.
