I hope that as NaMo takes charge, many new licences are given to patriotic Indians to start news channels, and that the BJP starts using those channels. Also government can give more advertisement money to the new channels.
NDTV, CNN-IBN, TimesNow, etc. can all be winded up after looking into their account books and basically boycotting them.
Any media enterprise/house and journos associated with Congress, Christian orgs, Western and Saudi benevolence, should basically be starved to death.

Already Niticentral TV. Sudarshan TV are on, they can be strengthened
Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India
Rajesh,nope wrong plan.
The government does not have to spend money on these channels. One does not need another version of partisan government sponsored private channels. DD serves as a public broadcaster, and as long as there is level playing field, entrepreneur will start media outlets when they see profits and value. Let the government just mind its business of governing.
Ps: now that elections are almost over, we all Modi Bhakts can start disagreeing with each other

but once we have borne the shock of 2004. I say, never again! Media was and would always remain substantially influenced by various power brokers. Even in massaland, media is just hand-maiden of American interests.
Media is more than business. It is the fourth pillar of democracy.

Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India
Bhadve in Urdu means pimp..possible badavaa came from there but assumed a naughty/mischievous meaning.
Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India
"badava' also has meaning in gujarati.

Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India
Plenty such words are used with very few knowing the etymology. Thulukkan, kasaappu kadai (butcher shop), dera podarathu (making camp) and I think sunni (penis) as well ..
Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India
Bhadava is used in Telugu to admonish naughty/ mischievous kids. Actual meaning is "pimp". But it is not used in that sense and never used against adults

Meenakshi Lekhi on her facebook page:
May 11th is the National Technology Day. It is celebrated to mark the anniversary of the successful nuclear tests in Pokharan by the NDA government in 1998.
The tests showed to the world, that despite a nuclear technology embargo, India was capable of developing 100% indigenous and successful nuclear technology.
I am confident that in times to come, Indian scientists will again rise to the occasion and show to the world indigenously developed technologies. The cryogenic engine is another such example of brilliance and perseverance.
Please also read Shri Narendra Modi Ji's informative blog on the same.

Unfortunately, that is not how it works in the real world. What you said works only if the media is above board, is not corrupt. Unless you show you can play their game, you will be taken advantage of and screwed around. Unless, BJP screws the paid media, they will not behave when BJP is out of power. Heck, they will not behave when BJP is in power.SwamyG wrote:Rajesh, nope wrong plan.

First cut Govt. Ad revenue to Times Now,NDTV,IBN and severl other anti-Indian media. Cut the money laundering channels. Trash channel like Saakshi in AP gets a lot Ad revenue. Why should Govt. support this trash owned by politicians.

Ever since the saffron arm of the Gandhi family, Varun Gandhi, decided to contest elections from Sultanpur, a constituency next to Amethi, he is the target of his elder sister Priyanka Gandhi. It is worth mentioning here that in 2009, both brothers got record wins – Rahul from Amethi and Varun from Pilibhit. But this time it is being said that it won’t be easy for Rahul to garner support. If he does manage to win the Amethi seat in one way or another, his margin will not be too significant. On the other hand, Varun was moving towards a sure win in Sultanpur. So Priyanka tried a clever trick so that her younger brother loses his focus. Sources reveal that just three days before the polling in Sultanpur, she supplied a big sum of money to BSP’s candidate Pavan Pandey who is contesting in Sultanpur. Apart from this, the Congress workers in the constituency were told that they should support Pandey instead of party’s candidate Rani Sahiba that is Amita Singh. So Varun’s win margin may have come down there, but it seems like Amita Singh will stand fourth here. But Varun still seems to be winning with more votes than Rahul.

Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India
The use of Badava and its Telugu roots makes sense as my grandmother grew up in Rajahmundry (Madras Province). She used to fill up multiple notebooks with the name of Sri Rama (in tamil) as a type of meditation. A real sweet lady (from grandson pov) fully steeped in dharma and tradition but fluent in english/hindi/tamil/telugu.

This woman is quite arrogant and nasty. After Arun Nehru had fallen out with Rajiv/ Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka once went to a village in the Amethi constituency and scolded the villagers saying "How dare you let that man (Arun Nehru) enter this village". This when Arun Nehru was Rajiv's cousin and had previously been quite close to the family.vivek.rao wrote:http://www.gossipguru.in/priyanka-upset-with-brother

Priyanka/ Rahul have always considered Amethi/ Rae Bareli as their zamindari. They need to lose from these constituencies to learn a lesson.

For those who were fearing Modi will turn secular
Modi targets news traders
For the past nine-10 years, Ruchir Gupta of Morgan Stanley takes a group of national and international journalists on an intensive tour of India for a deep analysis and study of Indian elections. For the 2014 General Elections, too, Joshi went to the interiors of Bihar and UP with his group of national-international journalists. The group included Indian journalists such as Suman Dubey, Prannoy Roy, Shekhar Gupta and M K Venu. When the group reached Hajipur in Bihar, a Narendra Modi rally was on in support of Ram Vilas Paswan. The group of journalists was made to sit in the front row and Modi was just about to finish his speech when he saw Prannoy Roy and Shekhar Gupta sitting in the front row and he took control of the mike once more. He then addressed the public saying, “Beware of these media traders.” The group was shocked and contacted Amit Shah as soon as it reached Varanasi and started to offer clarifications. Amit Shah assured them that Modi never does politics with ill-feelings or revenge.

I believe the Rama Koti practice was popularized by Kanchi Mahaa periavaa - in TN we were encouraged to do it and get the prasadham by mail from Kanchi after finishing and sendung the books.
Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India
After one crore is completed the books will be put in earth and a pillar is built on it in some places. Lord Rama temple in home town has it. Family name having Rama is also there and Dalits in many places in UP and Bihar will have Lord Rama name attached to them. Kanshi Ram, Ram Vilas Paswan etc.

Narendra Modi calls meeting of Gujarat BJP MLAs on Tuesday
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has called a meeting of BJP MLAs in Gandhinagar on Tuesday at 5.00 pm. Shree Modi will be free on Tuesday after months long hectic campaign, electoral strategy meets, post-campaign meetings with party’s top leadership and RSS in Delhi and final phase of polling which also involves Varanasi seat which he is contesting.
According to those closely watching Gujarat’s political developments, Modi during his meeting with RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and party chief Rajnath Singh discussed exit poll results and seat projections that are already supplied to party by all major external survey agencies and party’s internal mechanism. Shri Modi also sought guidence on his role in any of three conditions – clear majority, near majority or no majority to NDA. In any eventuality, as Mr. Modi has been told to shift his base to Delhi to play a national role, the name of next Gujarat Chief Minister, it is understood has also been discussed and finalized in meetings in Delhi.
Shri Modi has been Chief Minister of Gujarat continuously since 2001. He has become synonym of BJP in Gujarat. Before going to Delhi to play a role in national politics as per party’s and RSS’s wish, he will need to deliver his message to Gujarat MLAs on future scenario. Modi is likely to assure Gujarat MLAs his support and care for Gujarat and party’s Gujarat unit from Delhi. He is likely to thank his team for cooperation and make a point that individual person is not important but mission is.
State government’s spokesperson minister Nitin Patel said he was unaware about the agenda and purpose of a meeting on Tuesday which has been called in assembly complex. DeshGujarat contacted a BJP MLA who said he had received the invitation through SMS. He said the meeting is not a special one and it is like a routine post-polls meeting.
Gujarat will keep watch over this meeting because at present the topic of discussion in every Gujarati home is Modi’s possible successor in Gujarat.
The names being discussed in media are Amit Shah, Anandiben Patel, Nitinbhai Patel, Saurabh Patel, RC Faldu, Surendra Patel, Parshottam Rupala, Vajubhai Vala and lately also Bhikhubhai Dalsania. But these names are just speculated by media. No name has actually emerged from the inner decisive circle of the party so far.
The election results will be out on 16th.

Its all out war by congress and EC. Seems they are confirming that Pappu has lost in Amethi...Lok Sabha polls 2014: EC may disqualify Smriti Irani over Narendra Modi’s Amethi rally
Narendra Modi's rally in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi constituency on May 5 has come under scrutiny for possibly exceeding the expenditure limit for a candidate set by the Election Commission, a top official of the poll watchdog told ET on the condition of anonymity. While EC is yet to reach a final conclusion, an adverse finding could result in the disqualification of BJP Amethi candidate, Smriti Irani, leading to another flashpoint between the Commission and the party.
"The expenditure observer of the Commission has pointed out the lavish nature of the rally and a probe is on to determine whether the expenses exceeded Rs 70 lakh limit prescribed by EC. The purpose of the probe is to determine whether Irani has violated Section 77 and 78 of the representation of people act (RPA) ," said a senior official of the Commission under the condition of anonymity.
Amethi, represented by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi witnessed a bitter campaign between the Congress and BJP's Irani with the former accusing the latter of distributing "venomous" literature against the Gandhis in their bastion.
The Congress will also officially complain about the Modi rally and press for Irani's disqualification this week. "The party is in no mood to forgive given the nature of campaign mounted by Irani and the BJP," says a top Congress leader.
Irani could not be reached for comment but a BJP leader close to her told ET this was "vintage tit for tat politics by the EC. We haven't received any complaint or notice," said the leader.
Section 77 of the RPA talks of the requirement to maintain true and correct accounts of spending and section 78 requires that these accounts to the filed with the electoral authorities.
Candidates can be barred from contesting elections for a variety of offences including filing of improper accounts under Section 10(A) of the RPA. The maximum period of disqualification is six years.
An official in the Election Commission dismissed the allegation that the poll watchdog was being vindictive, stating that team Modi's problems with the Commission have only started post April 30, after the Commission ordered an FIR be registered against the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate for flouting rules. The official also pointed out that in the case of Irani, since she had taken "advantage" of the rally ----as well as the fact she was mentioned by Modi in his speech and was present on the ..
Explaining the process by which the Commission calculated election expenditure, the person cited earlier said the intention was to ensure a level playing field. "The Election Commission comes out with a price list of equipment, furniture and other election related expenses in every constituency to ensure level playing field. In these elections, the Commission is also carrying out extensive video surveillance of every rally to capture details like evidence of vehicles, furniture, rostrum, chairs, ..
"There are also expenditure observers appointed in each constituency and the lavishness of the Modi rally was brought up by the local observers. We have asked them to conduct a detailed probe and they would be getting in touch with the candidate also," said the official.
Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India

I said these elections will be the last one that will be in the mold of past 65 yrs since independence. The democracy we have seen so far is going to change. Whether it is for good or bad to be seen.

A very interesting point is that even though these elections are fought in a multiparty democratic setup, one cannot guarantee that this elections will ensure the survival of that very democracy in its classical sense. Based on who wins this election and what kind of mandate they get from Indian citizenry, the winners may be tempted to permanently alter this equation in their favor. One must thank the illiterate and poor Indians to keep the playing field open & fair for these opposing world-views thus far, giving the nationalists a fighting chance.
