Few months back, he was quite reasonable bloke, granted Su.Swamy can push the buttons of everyone; but DoB is losing his cool and nerves. He has bad mouthed Modi so much, I wonder how TMC can be part of NDA.

Congress managed to get 5 seats out of which three came from Christian majority seats in Kanyakumari district. The three INC winners & one DMK winner (Christian candidate) from Kanyakumari district had double digit margins. While the two ADMK winners from Kanyakumari district had single digit margins. DMK was affected because of corruption issue. In that election, many DMK stalwarts lost. Their top leader Karunanidhi moved away from Chennai city to distant rural constituency. His son MK Stalin won with a margin of less than 2% (2800 votes margin) even after moving to a suburban seat from city center in Chennai. As the famous CRI editor Prasannavishy says ‘minority’ vote is not affected by corruption or development & only ‘natives’ vote on livelihood issues.
Sadly, this is true. Its sad and ominous. And it is sad because in this very page,a 'relic' of the past like Philip Sir is speaking the language of nationalism, shared interests, common destiny, sense of belonging etc.

Its a fact christians, even more than muslims, vote strategically in their 'communitys interests'.
This is absolutely true. Minorities, if they feel themselves as minorities, always think about community interests over any other issues like corruption, national interest. This is true universally and not just in India. The only way to get minorities to think about national interests is to remove their "minority" or special treatment. Once they start thinking that I am as much stakeholder as native person, or better, I am myself native from this place, then they will start thinking about national interests. All these years, INC / SP/Left have been popping up minorities' special treatment and hence inhibiting their mainstream integration. This is the biggest disservice to nation.

40% voting in wb by 11am indicates massive and well organized rigging is going on under state govt cover.

Nothing much can be done at this point ....but namo must never forget this and devote full cycles to destroy the tmc for next round. Tmc is just another clone of the ones it destroyed...in turn it too must be destoyed.

well it is short term pain. as Rahul M has pointed out even TMC supporters are appalled by TMC's goondaism.
TMC's true colour is now in open for all to see. coupled with their Muslim appeasement policies the situation is ripe for their exit.

next free and fair poll will sweep these turds out.

Thank god that we are not depending on doing well in WB for this election. The compromised EC will let Mamata do whatever she wants this time.

But the longer term trend in WB is clear : the Left is a failed ideology, Mamata is exactly the same in terms of goondaism and lack of development. So the time is for the BJP to start making inroads into WB in the medium and long term.

WB watchers, was CPM required to indulge in such methods before the end of its first term? Quite a bad omen for MB, if this is her situation just 3 years after assuming office.

Police have arrested Aam Aadmi Party leader Rajesh Rishi for reportedly distributing cash to woo voters in Varanasi.

Questions are also being raised about presence of AAP leader Manish Sisodia in Varanasi, as all outsiders involved with poll campaign, excluding the candidates, are not allowed to remain within the constituency after campaigning stopped on evening of May 10.

14:17 LIVE! TMC goons push Students' Federation of India activist into pot of boiling oil: A Students' Federation of India activist was pushed into a pot of boiling oil allegedly by Trinamool Congress supporters in Barrackpore.

Chandan Das, 27, escaped with burns on his hands but suffered serious head injuries after he was mercilessly beaten up when he managed to save himself from the oil.

The incident happened in the Srikrishnapur area within Amdanga assembly segment of Barrackpore parliamentary constituency in North 24 Parganas district.

The accused were alleged TMC activists."He is not bleeding but his head is swollen and he can't rest his head anywhere. He is suffering from extreme pain and we suspect he has suffered internal haemorrhage," said Ipika mandal, Das's fiance, who took him to the district hospital at Barasat.

In another incident in the same Lok Sabha constituency, two CPI(M) councilors of Kanchrapara municipality could not cast their votes after TMC supporters allegedly threatened to kill them if they ventured out to the polling station."They said they would slit our throats," said 76-year-old Jyotsna Roy, a councilor for 20 years.

Yup, EC is focused on saving Rahul Gandhi's ass in Amethi by getting Smriti Irani disqualified. They have no time to look into relatively petty stuff like booth capturing, bombs and shooting in faraway West Bengal.

Hope BJP turns on the heat to full blast if anything like that even looks like happening.
