Modi's win was a rejection not only of the dynasty but of the colonial Brits, who tried to teach Hindus to be ashamed of their culture.
A trickle of Foreign journo's and leaders have started understanding the view points of the Dharmics makes solid sense. Slowly but surely the numbers will only rise. With Modi's arrival the Dharmic perspective will gain traction in India and then worldwide.

amma is cleverer than didi to seek support for governance share to empower state managements! but all said and done, what is she going to do for the corruption? i doubt she can participate well there... she might as her amassment guarantees few of her generations, but her setup below will find hard time giving up free kala money.
"Selvi (Ms) J Jayalalithaa, wished him a very successful tenure as Prime Minister of India. The Hon'ble Prime Minister– designate assured the Hon'ble Chief Minister that there will be absolute co-operation between the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu," a state government release here said.

Modi's assurance came in the wake of the AIADMK chief saying in her letter that she looked forward to a meaningful era of Centre-state cooperation with the BJP leader at the helm of affairs.

The release said Modi also congratulated Jayalalithaa for her party's 'remarkable victory' where she notched up 37 of the 39 seats in the state.

Congress has three scenarios
1/ Family leaves the country to avoid arrests/jail while holding good control over party. In this case there is a possibility for family to come back after 10yrs with fresh face.

2/ Family stays in the country and also holds control over party. Will go thru penance and revitalize over time.

3/ family moves out of country and the party splinters. Wherever InC is power or strong, the CM will become/form a regional party. Otherwise merge into existing opposition party, BJP or other depending on state. AP's YSRCP is example of first type splinter.

The interesting observation is AAP neither hurt Congress nor BJP. It is simply a non-player in this elections.

the Twitter is abuzz with 3 of the 9 YSRC MPs are joining BJP. :) Congress splitting will not wait until December. We may not see 2015 with Sonia and Rahul in the scene. The RS parties will split like as though there is no tomorrow. Enjoy the show folks. The entire so called pseudo-sec-factory is unravelling.

WTF, Times house needs to be neutralized
The fact that the BJP has won a majority on its own in the 16th Lok Sabha has, inevitably, drawn comparisons with previous elections in which parties have won a majority of seats on their own. What has not quite figured in most of these comparisons is the fact that no party has ever before won more than half the seats with a vote share of just 31%. Indeed, the previous lowest vote share for a single-party majority was in 1967, when the Congress won 283 out of 520 seats with 40.8% of the total valid votes polled.

This statistical fact points to an important aspect of the latest 'wave'. Far from spelling the end of a fractured polity, the 2014 results show just how fragmented the vote is. It is precisely because the vote is so fragmented that the BJP was able to win 282 seats with just 31% of the votes.

Simply put, less than four out of every 10 votes opted for NDA candidates and not even one in three chose somebody from the BJP to represent them. Those who picked the Congress or its allies were even fewer, less than one in five for the Congress with a 19.3% vote share (which incidentally is higher than the BJP's 18.5% in 2009) and less than one in every four for the UPA. Unfortunately for the Congress, its 19.3% votes only translated into 44 seats while BJP's 18.5% had fetched it 116 seats.

Unless 6 out of 9 decide to merge with BJP, they would invite provisions of the Anti-Defection Law, or they would have to resign from their hard-won seats and contest again under the BJP banner.

Same case with Congress. Congress's mandate is fragmented - a few seats from every state. There is no one who can lead 30 out of 44 Congressmen out of Congress for a successful split.

That's is the prerogative of speaker. In addition, the anti-defection law applies only to recognized state/national parties. Not for those that just registered parties. Any number of them can be traded in bazaar.

psy op from India today

Poll data shows large number of Muslims voted for Modi
http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/delh ... 62351.html
The skepticism about the Muslim community's reservations about voting for the BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was laid to rest on Friday when the party went on win all the seven Lok Sabha constituencies of Delhi.

Data released by the office of the Delhi chief electoral officer have indicated a reversal in the Muslim community's support for the Aam Aadmi Party in the National Capital.

In the Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency, BJP candidate Harsh Vardhan trounced his AAP rival Ashutosh in Sadar Bazar by 17,623 votes. Likewise, in Ballimaran and Chandni Chowk too, the BJP candidate enjoyed a much larger vote share than Ashutosh.

"There is no such thing that any community will be sidelined or marginalised if BJP is in power. We do not believe in such politics," Harsh Vardhan said.

While many spoke about Kapil Sibal continuing to enjoy the minority community's faith, the poll results told a different tale. The two-time Congress MP, who had won by a margin of over 2 lakh votes last time, ended up at the third spot in Chandni Chowk.

If the comments from clerics and members of the community are anything to go by, then the Muslims have decided not to repose any faith in the Congress simply because they had been taken for granted for the last 10 years. Not only did the community lost faith in the Congress, but it also turned away from the AAP. The antics in the Delhi Assembly had clearly spelt disaster for the Arvind Kejriwal-led party.

While AAP candidates had banked heavily on a secure Muslim vote bank in Delhi, this reversal in trend across all seven parliamentary constituencies in the Capital is emblematic of the fact that the community have moved beyond the past references to Modi's alleged involvement in the Godhra riots. It also shows that the minority community is ready to give the BJP a chance at governance too.

In North-East Delhi constituency, which has a sizeable Muslim population in Babarpur and Mustafabad Assembly constituencies, BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari, who was initially relying upon a huge vote bank from the Purvanchali population, now enjoys the vote of the Muslim populace as well.

Moreover, a large section of the Muslim population came out in celebration of the BJP's victory on Friday, stating that they felt no fear in voting for the party.

In West Delhi, where Parvesh Singh Verma won by the largest margin, the BJP candidate polled 1.11 lakh votes from Matiala and 80,529 votes from Najafgarh while AAP's Jarnail Singh polled merely 57,492 and 30,850 votes respectively from these areas. The two areas have a large Muslim population.

"I was confident of getting the highest margin in the city. The people of all communities have gone all out to extend their support to the party and all this talk about Muslims being sidelined is rubbish. Every community is equal for us and we believe in working equally hard for all of them," Parvesh said.

Results show support for saffron in 45 of 87 Muslim strongholds

The BJP has won more than half the 87 Lok Sabha seats across the country with a high percentage of Muslim voters, with most of the gains concentrated in the politically crucial states of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

However, the new Lok Sabha will have the fewest Muslim parliamentarians since the one elected in 1952, with just 21 of them emerging victorious in the polls. The BJP itself does not have a single MP from the minority community.

The BJP won 45 of the 87 Lok Sabha seats identified by the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) as having a high concentration of Muslim voters. In Uttar Pradesh alone, the party won all but one of the 27 seats with a sizeable Muslim electorate.

Prominent among the winners in Uttar Pradesh was BJP president Rajnath Singh, who bagged the Lucknow seat that has some four lakh Muslim voters, including numerous Shias.

Significantly, the BJP bagged three seats in Assam with a large number of Muslim voters - Gauhati, Mangaldoi and Kaliabor. It also won the Chandni Chowk and North-East Delhi constituencies in the national Capital, both of which have a large Muslim electorate.

Of the 102 constituencies where at least one in five voters is a Muslim, the BJP won 47 seats.

Any idea which 3 are defecting Muppalla-ji? And is it only SA MPs or does it also include the YCP MP from Telangana (Khammam)?

I believe its ok if 1/3 of the members defect. Anything less would be illegal under the anti defection law.

I stand corrected. Its 2/3 of elected members.

I thought that the YCP had burnt its bridges in Telangana, and yet, here is this YCP character winning Khammam, that is supposed to be a Kamma stronghold. Can someone figure out what happened here? And I see that the Con. party has not even contested here. Were they in alliance with the CPI in Telangana?

Many YSRCP candidates spend thru their elections, their own money or others.

When Modi expedites the corruption cases across nation, I have a feeling YSRCP head will be taken out.
What needs to be seen is if the family tries to maintain some political presence even without the head or it will give up the fight leading the rest of the gang go find new homes.

Narendra Modi to resign as Gujarat CM on May 21, Anandiben's name finalised: Report
Gandhinagar: BJP's PM-designate Narendra Modi is expected to resign as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on May 21 - a day after he will be formally elected as the new leader by the party's parliamentary board to lead the NDA government.

Reports on Sunday said that the state BJP leaders have arrived at a consensus on senior minister Anandiben Patel's name to be the new Chief Minister of Gujarat.

On May 20, the BJP MLAs will formally elect Patel as their leader in the presence of Thawarchand Gehlot, BJP general secretary, who has been appointed as the observer to monitor the entire process by the party high command.

Folks,
I just did a basic review of the performance of the AAP in the Punjab seats, and maybe someone with specific knowledge of Punjab can help me understand this verdict (Munna-ji, I am looking at you in particular). It is helpful to have a map of Punjab LS seats for my review, so here is the link to one.

http://www.mapsofindia.com/parliamentar ... es/punjab/

Okay, now the AAP has won 4 constituencies, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sangrur, Patiala, and Faridkot.

In two of the seats, it has won by a very convincing margin, Faridkot (1.75 lakh), and Sangrur (2 lakhs). In Patiala, it has won by 20K votes, and in Fatehgarh Sahib, it has won by 50K votes.

Punjab is divided roughly into 3 regions. Region west of the Beas, and north of the Sutlej (region is called Majha, I think). This region has 3 seats (Khadoor Sahib, Amritsar and Gurdaspur). This region was among the worst hit by the Khalistan insurgency, IIRC. AAP has only a marginal presence in this region, with the best performance coming in Khadoor Sahib (old Taran Taran), with about 1.5 lakh votes. In the other two, AAP vote share is less than 1 lakh votes.

In the Beas-Sutlej doab, which has 2 seats (Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur), the AAP is making its presence felt strongly. In both seats it has 2 lakh+ votes, which is very creditable.

The last region is the region south of the Sutlej (called Malwa, I think), which has 8 seats (Ferozepur, Faridkot, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Anandpur Sahib (old Ropar), Fatehgarh Sahib (old Sirhind), Sangrur and Patiala, the AAP has done very well in the east, but less so towards the west (towards the Pakistani border). This region is traditionally the Akali stronghold, and particularly towards the south, west, and east, is much more rural in its character. In the two western seat of Ferozepur and Bathinda, the AAP has got <1 lakh votes in Bathinda, and just over 1 lakh votes in Ferozepur. In the north eastern and northern seats of Ludhiana and Anandpur Sahib respectively, the AAP has done well, getting 2.5 lakh (Ludhiana) and 3 lakh (Anandpur Sahib). It is in the southern, eastern and central seats of Sangrur, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala that the AAP has performed superbly, winning all four. The AAP infection is particularly serious in the two central seats of Faridkot and Sangrur, where the AAP has won 4 lakh+ and 5 lakh+ votes, winning very handsomely. Can someone point to what has caused this tumour growth in the centre of Malwa? What particular failure of the Akalis has done this?

too bad! can't complain now. ask them to join BJP for the future seats, and fight for UCC; fair participation from all communities are welcome. we are moving to a merit based society, and ask them to move forward with us, or get left out. We can give lending hands, change their logic, but they have to drink the portion to survive. eye 4 eye is not understood at all now. we pass, and quell the evil to die for itself looking at barren sky and dessert.

Re-elections should be held in those four constituencies  .

Yes, Ramana-ji. Maybe it will be good to divide states (it involves a lot of work, so if someone does the basic number crunching for the state, the rest of us can weigh in with our opinions?). It will be good if 4-5 of us take 5 states each (less for ppl who get UP, for instance), so that the basic number crunching is done by then?

Does anyone have any opinions on who wants to take what state?

I was thinking priority is those states that are slated for state elections and Delhi.
Second tier is border states like Punjab, West Bengal and J&K from security aspect.

That means Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and most likely Delhi (maybe even Bihar). I can take up Haryana, Delhi and Jharkhand right away, and have the data ready in about a week. Does MuraliRavi-ji, or someone else want to take Maharashtra?

Apart from Nithish Kumar, Rahul Narvekar made the biggest mistake of the election season. Dude, jumped from Shiv Sena to NCP, now whenever I see him on the TV - I see no life on his face. Earlier, he had the energy and smile, just like Devang Nanavati. And his presence on the TV shows would be lively. Now, poor dude. Wonder what bit him.
