The winning party doesn't have a single Muslim MP — is that worrying?
For the last 66 years, Muslims were treated like mere vote banks and constantly urged to vote for various parties or else BJP would come to power. Muslims rejected this call — now it's for Modi to deliver on his poll promises and belie the fears propagated by these parties for decades.
As for no Muslim MP, BJP fielded seven candidates from the community. Everyone lost. The party also has to look at its poll prospects.
There is a lie that was started by Jinnah and others like "one-ball" Iqbal - which was propagated ad nauseam by "secular parties". The lie is that Muslims can only be represnted by Muslims and that "castes" can only be represented by similar castes.
In this secular."caste free" model of India mooted by the Congress party and its allies people of different religions and ethnic minorities and communities were not one people, Indians with similar interests and needs, but different species - like buffaloes who need grass and need to be represented by an elected buffalo and hyenas who need dead meat and need to be represented by an elected hyena.
But let me make an observation here. The congress has missed something that I realised suddenly when I visited Shillong for a holiday after 35 years. 35 years ago Shillong appeared like a magical almost alien land - different people and a different culture in a beautiful place. But in the last 35 years India has, in a small way, become like what someone had commented about the US. Every town in the US appeared the same - the same outlets, the same retail chains, etc. the US had 'standardized" the country.
India is going that way. India has standardized the country. Be it Bangalore, Guwahati or Shillong you have the same ads, the same shops, the same Airtel hoardings, the same brands of cement, the same cars etc. Construction materials, basic house designs are similar and they are painted with the same Asian paints or Berger paint. On the same day as everywhere else, the entire town of Shillong had its school kids out on the street as they rushed for college admission forms since their school results were out. The same cars and bikes. the same traffic jams. The same lack of road rage. The same avoidance of animals on the road so they are not killed.
Peoples lives have all been affected similarly and increasingly having the same concerns. They want good roads, good connectivity, businesses, factories, tourism, economy and jobs and some pride in themselves and what they have done rather than kowtowing to some fake secular reasons for being nice to shitland or continuously facing criticism from the developed west and their chamchas for being a bullshit nation of incompetent bums.
Hopefully that goddam family can now become citizens like anyone else and let the country rule itself and develop.
