There are already other places named after PVNR and NTR. Naming after anybody recent (20th century) can be construed political and there are always people who disagree. By naming after some historical figures, we can at least inspire our children to learn/remember them.

Shifting the power centre
In all likelihood, AP’s new capital will come up between Vijayawada-Guntur and Tenali.

According to senior officials involved in the search for a location for the new capital, the exact place will be announced by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu along with a Central panel constituted for the purpose.

The Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri region is the frontrunner mainly because of the connectivity it offers and its central location in Andhra Pradesh. The nearest airport, at Gannavaram, is also seen as an advantage.

Guntur district has 1.30 lakh hectares of forest land which, if de-notified, can be utilised for supporting the new capital. Availability of plenty of water from the Krishna is also a positive factor,” the official said. The Guntur airport has an abandoned runway that can be quickly refurbished, he added.

Though initially conceived merely as an administrative capital with the Assembly, Secretariat, Raj Bhavan and other key government offices, the thinking has now changed to a larger, modern city. It is, after all, likely to house industries and business establishments. A delegation of industrialists and Nasscom also surveyed the region and gave a positive feedback. The feasibility of a cyber city near Gannavaram and a pharma city at Repally are being examined.

The speculation over the new capital had included Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Ongole. These cities had strong proponents who raised their voice from time to time. A UPA government search committee had visited half a dozen locations.

Building the city

The Government machinery is gearing up to build the new capital once the location is finalised. An apex New Capital Committee will be formed with sub-committees for land acquisition, town-planning, traffic, etc.

As per the AP Reorganisation Act, the industries being set up in the capital or any industrial cluster to be identified by the State Government will be eligible for incentives. The tax incentives have already drawn positive response from industrialists. Already industries headquartered in Hyderabad are shifting base to Seemandhra.

There seems to be a big divergence between BJP's view of AP and that of CBN. CBN talks about building mega city that rivals Hyderabad and often invokes Singapore model, while Venkaiah and BJP refer to regional capital and distributed growth. I hope soon BJP makes clear to him not to go into false prestige and be more pragmatic in state's development. Paying Rs 80,000 crores to waive of loans and spending lakhs of crores of rupees for mega capital cannot go together. Instead he insists on center to complete the Polavaram project in this term. The mega city can be a priority in the next term.

Lastly he needs to focus on AP and don't hang on to Telangana. His statement that he will not leave Hyderabad until he comes back to power in T is very misguided and very worrysome for people of AP. As far as AP is concerned, Telangana is over and they are like any other two states in India -nothing special. He better behave like CM of AP. Though we don't like Jagan, but we need him to keep CBN in check. Otherwise this man has tendency to be carried away.

He can stay in Hyderabad until Center gives all to Seemandhra. Center can dust off its hands if he makes some shack in Seemandhra as Capital. Extract and then move. It is NOT worrisome for people of AP until they get their due from Center as it back-stabbed them.

^ It won't happen because TN is already pissed with center (thanks to UPA) for sucking all the power it produces into the national grid and then disbursing it based on it's whims and fancies, with KKNP going online TN will (and rightly so) play hardball for getting a quota for it's needs .

CBN was made an abhimanyu by all the mafias and he instead didn't die fighting but emerged victorious. The bruises of his victory was the state bifurcation.

He is now playing a new game. Instead of ignoring BJP he gave two ministries to three MLAs that BJP has won. There is a lot more to that. He is not playing politics and instead he is saying that all that the center and BJP and Modi promised to AP has to be fulfilled. It is true that irrespective of revenues/deficts/crap, several things were promised since the day the bifurcation bill was passed. Now he is politely extracting them via invitations and commitments. On his side he is showing a loyalty without any lobbying for positions. He said he will be part of NDA and did not lobby any ministries. He kept his promises and in that aspect, he give two MLAs ministries and also Nirmala Seetaraman a BJP RS seat. He did put BJP on the hook in front of entire NDA and all those who attended the rallies.

People keep forgetting the positive contributions of CBN. The TDP party and CBN are the only ones who strongly put a consistent anti-congress platform in India for several decades. He was with NDA and never destabilized. Yes, he definitely lobbied to get funds for the state. He had quit NDA post poll after the loss of NDA's power. Hence so many folks attended his pattabhishekam (oath taking ceremony). The attendees include Sri Sri of art of living. Entire BJP central leaders including the Bheesma pitamahs are there. For a minute, I felt did TDP merge with BJP :).

He has recognized that if he has to be with the population, he needs to keep both employees and farmers in good spirits while embarking on multi city infrastructure builds. He definitely have concrete plans to build three mega cites Vizag, Vijayawada and one in Seema. The new APites will build a very wealthy and rich state and there is no doubt about it. Yes and there will be mega cities like Hyderabad in terms of both size and material.

By showing the development of AP he will go to Telangana in next elections. It is for the Telangana to compete and prove better than AP. He will try to heal the bruise of 2014 and that is the strategy.

It will be interesting to watch how the 24 x 7 power can happen to AP.

24X7 Electricity: Narendra Modi's first gift to new Andhra Pradesh

The Union government announced that the new state has been chosen for the implementation of uninterrupted power supply. The decision was announced on Sunday, June 8 when Naidu took oath as the CM of the state. Piyush Goyal, the union power and renewable energy minister, was quoted as saying that the state has been selected for the implementation of the pilot project for supplying 24-hour power throughout state which will then be replicated across the nation.

It comes down to a part of the North Indian meme which still thinks "they are like us onlee" and "two nations one soul" BS. Its the same in bollywood and cultural field too. How does one explain the absurdity of Zee channel willing to take content from Pakjab for its serials but never takes anything from Telugu or Tamil or Kannada ? I have seen Zee dubbing its Hindi content for Telugu viewers but never the other way round even though its a well known fact that Southern languages produce some of the best serials in the country.

In movies however, they copy/remake Telugu/Tamil movies. From Telugu, they remade many movies with Salman Khan and got hits, except for Debaang which seems to be original make for Hindi as far as I know.

Pakjabi tie-up seems to be to do with dumping the JUNK from Bollywood on to Paki lands. Cheap weed and movies seem to go well in Paki well. I see a lot of youtube rips and boot-legged DVDs with Muslim/Paki names with addresses in Paki land.

One khan produces junk and another khan rips the junk. :)

Good post.

As for power, if they can only take all the power produced in Seemandhra, they can cut down power-cuts to 1-2 hours in Seemandhra. If they can put some nuke power plants in they can sustain power in the state for long time to come. It could be that they are looking solar power-gen systems through a lot of tax-breaks schemes. Solar is already in the plan. How they want to do needs to seen as it is only promise like all other promises right now.

registration of land or property should be done in name of owners only if they install 100K worth solar panels on roof of their house. This can be implemented easily in a new state.

I think that would be harsh. Rather than giving negative incentives. It is better to give positive incentives for such ideas. For example, give some property tax concessions for those who install solar panels.

But, this is the final stretch. The first step would be to give tax concessions to those who manufacture solar panels, so that the they become cheaper and easily affordable.

First you should not give any power to farmers in AP. Give solar panels. It will solve lot of problems. Most of AP can produce good solar power. Debt and subsidy is the two evils AP is going to have. CBN will be tested to solve it. NM can help but MQ will ensure Telugu lands continue to burn through Jagan and other gangs like Ejs and Razakars. People like Jairam Ramesh are already playing their dramas.

I think he has to start with this:

1. We will create trusts with an independent account advising trusts.
2. Make local people/devotees as shareholders
3. create a structure where temples can have hospitals/schools directly associated or sponsored.
4. Shareholders can decide which programs to fund
5. Poor people are taught/cared for in schools/hospitals

Both the Centre and the State government are set to clear all hurdles for nuclear power project at Kovvada of Srikakulam district to overcome the power crisis in Andrha Pradesh, according to the officials of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL).

The land acquisition process for the plant got delayed due to elections and change in the government.

Around Rs. 1 lakh crores are likely to be invested on the 10,000 MW Kovvada project. The Union government allocates 50 percent of power to Andhra Pradesh.{where will they find this money?} Chandrababu Naidu’s government which has ambitious plans for the development of the State is likely to mount pressure on the government for early completion of the project.

Though there is no fund crunch, officials are worried over delay in land acquisition process. The company needs around 1000 acres apart from the government land of 2000 acres. NPCIL promises to implement best rehabilitation package if locals are willing to surrender their lands for the project.

TDP leaders, who opposed the nuclear power project, have chosen to remain silent after the party came to power in the State. The Congress did not oppose the project as the nuclear plant got momentum during UPA’s regime.

“Modi Government is very keen on development and power is essential for implementing its plans. That is why we are hopeful that NPCIL project will take off very soon,” said a top executive of the NPCIL project.

The NPCIL officials are now in Hyderabad to have better coordination with AP officials over the land acquisition process in Ranasthalam mandal. The land has to be acquired from five villages. The officials are confident that there will not be any resistance from people since land losers will be offered the best package under the government’s new land policy.

NPCIL would set up six units each of 1,594 MWe to produce nearly 9,600 MWe of nuclear power.

He said the cost details were still being worked out with GE Hitachi, which was providing the technology. But, the price would be more than Rs.7 crore for each MWe.
If they cant dump massa , minimum one would expect is that a significant portion of the 1 Lakh crore being earmarked for the project goes back into Indian economy - by insisting on local procurement clauses in the contract. Not to mention getting Indian private industry into this and TOT atleast of the various middling level technologies which went into this reactor.
