It must be very hard in geopolitical brinkmanship to expect USA not to support their terrorist munna. It is like how we are waiting on border watching just to fire at polio-carrying rabid dogs thrown over border fence; while pakis can actually throw rabid polio-infected dogs across the fence, shell Indian villagers and then complain to the UN.

The scorpion hunters of Pakistan
Hundreds of people are involved in lucrative but unregulated scorpion trade amid fears it will affect the ecosystem.
The scorpions are in great demand apparently for medical research, and according to Khan a black scorpion weighing 60 grams can fetch at least $50,000.
In recent years, landlords in Thatta and surrounding areas employ poor farmers to hunt for the scorpions. When farmers find a scorpion weighing above 40 grams, they are they are given approximately $100. The landlord then takes ownership of the scorpion and contacts brokers. As the number of brokers increases, the final price of the scorpion also increases.
Hunters and brokers told Al Jazeera that politicians are also heavily invested in the trade. "Anyone who has money to spare has invested in hunting for scorpions," Sohail told Al Jazeera.
Sohail, however, said sellers prefer not to deal with Chinese buyers because they do not match the rates offered by American, Australian and Swedish buyers.

Pakistan army is determined to check how PM Modi is different from his predecessors - G.Parthasarathy, Economic Times
Why should Nawaz Sharif, besieged by domestic problems, with his army heavily deployed fighting the Pakistani Taliban along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, suddenly decide to escalate tensions along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir? The answer is that Pakistan's security policies are not decided by the prime minister, but by his namesake, General Raheel Shareef.
Confronted by a virtual takeover of the capital, Islamabad, by the followers of Imran Khan and Maulana Qadri, the prime minister had to turn to the army to not only protect the capital but also act as mediator in his confrontation with Imran and Qadri. He was earlier forced to abandon a peace initiative with the Pakistan Taliban, when the army, backed by air power, unleashed a military operation against the Pakistan Taliban in North Waziristan.
The army also appears determined to check out how different Narendra Modi will be from his predecessors.
The ISI challenged Mr Modi on the day he was sworn in, by getting the Indian Consulate in Herat attacked.
This was followed by testing India's will, by stepping up infiltration across the LoC. The Indian response was robust. The attention then turned to stirring up trouble within Jammu and Kashmir, so that it remained a focus of world attention as a 'Nuclear Flashpoint'.
Infiltration of Jihadis across the Line of Control would be meaningless for Pakistan, unless unrest in Jammu and Kashmir would produce the equivalent of a Palestinian Intifada, together with periodic shootouts that would receive international attention. There is disappointment in Rawalpindi that even the normally supportive British Parliamentarians did not oblige them during recent parliamentary discussions on Jammu and Kashmir.
A major weapon in Pakistan's political arsenal in the Kashmir Valley has been the Hurriyat leadership, which many in India's intelligence establishment have pampered for far too long. Despite constant support from the ISI, the Hurriyat was unable to stir up tensions in the Kashmir valley. Moreover, the ISI's long time stalwart, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, is now aging and unwell. Mirwaiz Umar Farookh is regarded as soft and Hamlet like.
The floods that tore apart the Kashmir valley have come as a boon for the ISI. A propaganda barrage has been unleashed claiming that the inept Omar Abdullah government and the Indian Army have done nothing to rescue and assist stranded and displaced Kashmiris.
Two new stalwarts emerged to give a boost to this Pakistani effort to stir up public anger against India in the Kashmir valley. They are Hurriyat leaders Yasin Malik and Shabir Shah. Both these worthies led the charge in defaming the Indian Army and attempting to destroy the credibility and efficacy of the efforts to provide relief by the Army, NDMA and others.
The major challenge that New Delhi now faces in Jammu and Kashmir is not militancy, but in providing relief and rehabilitation for the population in the Kashmir valley, after the snows commence next month and communications are disrupted.
After having faced a decisive response from the Indian Army when it last attempted to raise tensions across the Line of Control, the Pakistan army has now resorted to using the paramilitary Rangers for firing across the international border. The effort is geared to sending in as many infiltrators as possible, before the snows commence and the mountain passes close.
Pakistan knows that India has the capabilities to deal with infiltration, especially as large parts of the LoC are now fenced. The paramilitary forces along the border and LoC like the BSF and Indo-Tibetan Border Police should be equipped with enhanced firepower.
Moreover, while responding robustly, New Delhi should also raise the political and diplomatic costs for Pakistan, if it persists with its present policies

Regarding Fair didi. I did watch that video AnujanJi posted, and at one point, she does repeat the Paki line that at the time of partition, TSP was moth eaten while India got everything, India exploited the situation, TSP was going to collapse but its a miracle it survived yada yada.
I concur with those who say let her roll along in her current Paki bashing avatar. Nothing is lost. But with her supercilious tongue, letting loose statements like "Blackwill is a lunatic", Rand is Rund or whatever", "I am attracted to TFTA dudes" etc, I am sure nobody in DC takes her seriously, and neither do Indian policy makers, and perhaps even media. Unless I missed it, Arnab and Maroof almost had every 2-bit "South Asia" watchers in DC/NYC during their coverage of Modi's visit, but I didn't see Fair make any appearance on any channel.

Re: Sunni Terrorist Fragments of Unstable Pakistan - 19 Jul
I am holding my breath, but so far at least, assortment of Modi haters in India: Cong etc (add Shiv Sena to the list now) seem to be holding fort by not bean counting and holding a shouting match: under MMS, so many ceasefire violations by TSP, but under Modi so many more. Short of massive escalation, the best strategy India has would be to hit TSP as hard if not harder, and as TSP begins to feel the heat, they will be restrained. Classic Nash equilibrium where TSP will not have any incentive to continue firing because the payoff will be worse than no firing.
But such an approach will still lend itself to bean counting on Indian side, because the headlines will still say, Pak targeted this post or that sector, or how many civilians killed etc. So like the post 26/11 circus in India dominated by "Hindu terror", thanks to MMS and the madam,, it doesn't turn out to be an internal shouting match in India, and the focus is kept on TSP.

Pakistan bank on series with India, England next year
Desperately looking to boost its finances, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is counting on back-to-back “home” series against England and India next year in the UAE.
“We will be hosting England in October and November in UAE for three tests, five one-day internationals and a T20 match,” a board official told PTI on Wednesday.
“After England we will host India for two Tests, five one-day internationals and two T20 matches at the same venue and this series will last till late December,” he said.
The official said while the series against England was 100 percent confirmed the series against India would be subject to clearance from the governments.

Why US didn’t share anything on Osama's hideout with Pakistan - PTI, ToI
WASHINGTON: Pakistani spy agency ISI having close ties with terror groups is an open secret and this was the reason why the US did not share the intelligence about the raid on Osama bin Laden's hideout with Islamabad, former defense secretary and ex-CIA director Leon Panetta has said.
"We had been discussing this for months, and it was an open secret that Pakistan's intelligence agency had ties to terrorist groups — that, after all, was a major part of our rationale for not sharing our bin Laden intelligence with the ISI," Panetta wrote in his book 'Worthy Fights: A Memoir of Leadership in War and Peace' which hit the stores on Tuesday.
Panetta was the CIA director in the first term of the Obama administration and was also his defence secretary later.
In both these position, Panetta was a strong advocate of US-Pakistan relationship and always came out in strong defence of ISI and the Pakistan army whenever there were allegations of the spy agency having links with the terrorist outfit.
In fact, while serving in the Obama administration — both as CIA chief and defence secretary — Panetta always issued certificates to ISI on allegations of its links with terror outfit. However, in his latest book, the first after he left the Obama administration some two years ago, Panetta speaks in an altogether different tone.
"One of the most complicated international relationships to manage in my years with President Obama was that between the United States and Pakistan," Panetta wrote.
"At their core, both countries realized we needed each other's help, but we didn't trust each other. It showed," the former defence secretary added.
Referring to the remarks of the then chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, before a Senate Committee, Panetta said Mullen spoke the truth that day.
"For the most part, our uneasiness concerning Pakistan was unspoken. We grumbled about it in the inner circles of government, but made nice in public. Then, on September 22, Admiral Mullen, approaching the end of his tenure as chairman of the Joint Chiefs, told a blunt truth and did so publicly," Panetta wrote.
"Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee, and with me sitting beside him, Mullen announced that the Haqqani network, a leading insurgent group fighting against American forces in Afghanistan, was a 'veritable arm of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency'," Panetta says.
"That network, he added, was behind a recent attack on the American embassy in Kabul as well as a June 28 attack against the Inter-Continental Hotel in that same city. In effect, Mullen accused our Pakistani allies of suborning attacks on American forces, diplomats, and citizens. That was sure to cause a controversy, and it did, but I was in some ways surprised by the expressions of shock," Panetta writes, noting that such a statement from Mullen was an open secret.
"As he usually did, Mullen spoke the truth at the hearing that day; as is too often the case, there were repercussions. Pakistani officials called his testimony 'irresponsible' and said his comments threatened to rupture relations between our countries," the former CIA director said.
"Things went from bad to worse over the next few months. On November 26, International Security Assistance Forces, the formal name for our coalition in Afghanistan, came under attack along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, with incoming rounds emanating from the Pakistani side," he said.
"The ISAF soldiers attempted to contact their Pakistani counterparts over the radio, but received no response. They then opened fire with a counteroffensive, calling in aircraft gunships to defend their positions. The battle ended with 28 Pakistani soldiers dead. Pakistan was outraged," he wrote.
In his book, Panetta writes how he prevented the US from issuing an apology, which was being advocated by the state department. But the White House supported him.
"Within the administration, there was a pitched debate about whether to apologize. State department officials responsible for managing our relationship with Pakistan wanted us to say we were sorry and get on with it, while I thought we should express our regrets but only apologize if we concluded we were to blame," he writes.
"I braced for the White House to side with State, but in this case McDonough told Jeremy that if we didn't think we had something to apologize for, we shouldn't. That gave me the political cover I needed to rebuff State's apology caucus," Panetta writes.

How credible is this?
2 IED blasts may have triggered current India-Pakistan clashes
2 IED blasts may have triggered current India-Pakistan clashes
The story seems possible pakis tried to test the resolve of government with something very mild like an IED that they can deny. Previously they would brazenly take away heads of jawans and still kangress would meekly sit and have chai samosa. So apart from jealousy over UN trip they want to test waters with Modi and find what is the correct temperature/ threshold till which they can keep the water boiling. Seems like the response has been more than what they expected and that is why the rona dhona with UN cease fire team has happened.NEW DELHI: Two recent explosions triggered by IEDs smuggled into India from Pakistan may have provided the backdrop for the present escalation of tension along the borders. One could add to it a host of local and international factors — from UN general assembly session to J&K elections and coming winter. The ceasefire violations usually coincide with the festival season with tension mounting through the Dussehra-Eid-Diwali period.
In an IED blast on October 4, a soldier was killed and five others were injured in Balnoi sector of Mendhar in Poonch district. The IED was planted several meters inside the Line of Control, and the only way for it to get to the spot was for it to have been smuggled into the Indian side by Pakistani regulars or someone authorized by them. The soldier killed in the blast was from 1 Mahar Regiment.
The other IED blast had taken place on September 15 in Sunea Gali in Mendhar, in which a porter was killed and two BSF jawans were injured.
In both the instances, Indian security forces were convinced that the IEDs were smuggled into the Indian side. The two blasts significantly contributed to the mistrust and heightened tension in the area. The situation has now deteriorated into the worst ceasefire violation in over a decade.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reiterated that Bangladesh will tour Pakistan only when the International Cricket Council (ICC) agrees to send its officials for the fixtures - because of security concerns.
But there was progress on other fronts during a meeting between the heads of the two boards in Dhaka yesterday, ESPNcricinfo reports.
BCB president Nazmul Hassan offered Bangladesh's stadiums as an alternate venue for Pakistan's home games, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan said the pullout of Pakistan players from various Bangladesh leagues was regrettable, Mohammad Isam writes.
"We didn't talk much about lower-level teams but I spoke to him about the national team," Hassan said of his conversation with Shaharyar.
"We maintained that if the ICC can't send match officials, we won't send the team. I have clarified this from the start. In terms of our academies, we have a long-term agreement with the PCB so we will look into that as well.

SIALKOT: At least three people were killed and four injured in Sialkot late on Tuesday as a result of firing by Indian troops along the working boundary between India and Pakistan, sources in the Chenab Rangers said, adding that they retaliated the attack.
In Sialkot’s Chaprar sector, two people - Ghulam Hussain and Asif - lost their lives while another man Shabbir was wounded in the incident.
Early on Wednesday, a man who was injured in mortar shell attacks in the Charwa sector of Sialkot succumbed to his injuries.
Moreover, in Sajeetgarh sector’s Dhathi village, three people - Ijaz, Nathay Khan and Abdul Razzaq - were injured due to firing.

An intense bout of firing continued in the area which also caused damage to buildings and houses located along the working boundary.
For the past three days, 10 civilians have been killed and at least over two dozen have been wounded in firing along a stretch of the disputed border and working boundary between India and Pakistan.
The Foreign Ministry had said it had lodged a protest with Indian diplomats over the killings of Pakistani civilians, saying the firing was “in complete disregard” of the Eidul Azha festival being celebrated.
