Intelligence and National Security Discussion
Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
Mamata has become really dangerous for the entire region. She is an opportunist and has allied with the islamists. A hindu backlash is coming in WB and the offensive against the Islamists must be taken into Bangladesh. What happens here is more important than what happens to Pakistan.

My understanding about the KS Garu's Kargil commitee report was almost all recommendations were implemented except two. But this new report suggests some thing else ! Guru's Can clarify !!

More news from Mamata's West Bengal
Huge cache of explosives and hand grenades seized in WB's Burdwan
Huge cache of explosives and hand grenades seized in WB's Burdwan
Guess the state police is not even capable of destroying evidence correctly?Burdwan: National Security Guard (NSG) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials on Friday seized a large stockpile of crude hand grenades, socket bombs and explosives from a house in Burdwan district of West Bengal where suspected militant Rejaul Karim used to stay.
The central security agencies found the explosives from a secret loft constructed after cutting the wall of a bathroom in Rezaul's place.
The recovery was made when the investigators were searching the house of Rejaul located at Mathpara on Badsahi Road near Khagragarh where the accidental explosion on October 2 killed two persons.
Security officials defused the bombs at the banks of Damodar river in Burdwan area.
A NIA team on Thursday had searched the areas surrounding a madarsa in Simulia near the explosion site. Two women, who are now in NIA custody, were radicalised in violent Jihadi ideology at the madarsa.
The blast occurred in a house in Khagragarh area killing two suspected Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen militants and injuring another. Several people including the two women have been arrested in this connection.
As part of its investigation, NIA had on Wednesday conducted searches at various places including the residence and shop of the arrested accused Hashem Moulla alias Badre Alam in Burdwan.
Besides arresting six people in Bengal and six others from Assam in connection with the incident, NIA sleuths have also interrogated three people in Chennai.
The Director General of NSG Jayant Choudhury, Thursday, warned of a joint plan by al Qaeda and ISIS to target Indian cities.
Speaking to reporters after NSG's 30th raising day celebrations, Choudhury said, “Now that they (al Qaeda) have declared an intention to attack India, they might combine with outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba, ISIS and Indian Mujahideen.”
Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
That is why they are trusted to do that job by didi.
Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
The presence of NSG is very interesting. Maybe it is routine to have NSG because they have expertise in bomb defusing or maybe is far more - the NIA doesn't have any trust in the local police and this is an official declaration of it.

NSG is a security force while NIA is an investigating agency. The NSG accompanied the team to provide security cover considering it seems to be terrorist infested. Part of the NSG's work is to neutralize explosives, be it live terror scenario or a combing operation.chaanakya wrote:Yes NSG Team is present in WB in connection with Burdhaman Case. Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
The NSG holds this country's explosive forensic database. They arnt only muscle. They also aid the NIA in the investigation. The NSG accompanied the team to provide security cover considering it seems to be terrorist infested
Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
The NSG also maintains the country's most competent investigation arm when it comes to explosives/IEDs etc.

Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
RKhanna, the farticle got the order wrong... NIA is conducting the investigation, NSG is assisting it withperforming the forensics of the explosives...or whatever is remaining of it after the evidence was destroyed by WB cops.
Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
NSG is helping with search operations (detectors, sniffer dogs etc),forensics, & controlled detonation of explosives..Shrinivasan wrote:RKhanna, the farticle got the order wrong... BSF has also been tasked to assist NIA in combing operations as local police completely not cooperating with investigations... heard that WB police are not even ready to provide lockup facilities to hold arrested suspects..

NSG runs the 'national bomb data centre' and has some of the best IED experts in the country.srin wrote:The presence of NSG is very interesting. What is a socket bomb? Any pictures?
I guess they use a pipe socket as the metal casing. But whats the advantage? shrapnel?

Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
most likely it's because the pipe would retain structural integrity and focus the explosion towards the openings. a directional bomb so to speak.

Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
This article only gives about 15 to 20 percent of the actual details and written with great deal of constraints not to show the higher up officer in too much negative light. The actual accounts were much more thrilling, but also disgraceful at the inaptitude of the entire government apparatus. If wasn’t for the personal initiative and efforts of the officers involved, Bhatkal would still be out there killing innocent Indians. They basically had no support from anyone and even had to enter Nepal and conduct the entire operation without any government of India issued weapons as to not make an international incident if things went wrong.Rahul M wrote:nabbing India's most wanted terrorist mastermind.

Sumair,
Being a public forum, cannot ask for everything, but small details would be interesting.

I know sumair. the country owes a lot to these people who are perpetually at war to protect India from her enemies.
the weapon thing is understandable though, given our relation with Nepal.

In any normal country the admin and political bosses who did not support the team would have been tried and shot for treason.
Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
Friends there are no URLs for corroboration. I just have second hand details from the individuals involved, but cannot name them for obvious repercussions. Even this article should never have been published as the operation should and would have remained secret, if not for the “fat cats” stumbling over each other to claim undue and undeserved credit, with scant regard to the national security. There was a treasure trove of information and leads with the team that could have lead to many more arrests if not for the public announcement of the arrests by the “fat cats” trying to claim the credit.Ankit Desai wrote:Hi Sumair,Sumair wrote:This article only gives about 15 to 20 percent of the actual details and written with great deal of constraints not to show the higher up officer in too much negative light. Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
The Bihar government let alone commend its officers, wanted no part of Bhatkal and wanted him out of the state in order not to antagonize the Muslim voters. They were furious at the involvement of Bihar police but were helpless to reprimand them right away, but have managed to eventually.Akshay Kapoor wrote:In any normal country the admin and political bosses who did not support the team would have been tried and shot for treason.
And the IB team was being shunted to north east if not in the change of government.
Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
There is a big problem with the present set up in our country. Police, intelligence, paramilitary and investigative agencies should be delinked from civil service structured examinations and should come up through the ranks. People occupying the decision making positions who come through civil services, don’t have the aptitude or the attitude for the job, as evidenced in this operation; SP Vinay kumar of Bihar police being an extreme and lucky exception.
Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
And folks wonder why there was so much contempt for the UPA gang of corrupt sods who were always ready to sell the nation down the river

Really guys get off the Burkha Dutt mode of inquiry.
Re: Intelligence and National Security Discussion
Unfortunately almost every country (from all that i have read) has a similar trend between Civilian leadership/Bureaucrats and operators/Intel officers. Just read all the stuff coming out of the Bengazi Debacale and hundreds other coming out Iraq/AstanIn any normal country the admin and political bosses who did not support the team would have been tried and shot for treason.

Muslim youths get free coaching to prepare for IB officers' exam
KOZHIKODE: In an attempt to remove misconceptions and integrate the community further into the mainstream, an educational society is offering sponsored coaching to Muslim youths to help them join the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the nation's premier internal intelligence-gathering agency.
Al Ameen Educational and Charitable Society, based here, has tied up with Enlight Study Circle, a professional entrance coaching centre, to enable candidates from the minority community crack the upcoming exams for 750 vacancies of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer-Grade II posts in the IB. It is offering cash scholarship for the 45-day coaching programme.
"The number of Muslims in the rolls of IB is dismal; as per our information it is just around 2%. We also feel that under-representation of Muslims in the agency could be a reason why sometimes the agency is perceived as anti-Muslim. Having more Muslims will surely make the agency more inclusive and truly representative," Shahid Thiruvalloor, secretary of Al Ameen Educational Society, said.
According to National Commission for Minorities the percentage of Muslims in security agencies is around 4%. The Sachar Committee report had found that in India as a whole, Muslims are under-represented in the police — just 6% of police constables and 4% in the IPS.
"Our coaching programme is open for candidates from all religions and communities. But Al Ameen is giving financial sponsorship to students from the Muslim community which will cover part of the course expense," said T K Abhijith, a trainer with Enlight.
Candidates aged between 18-27 years are eligible for the IB exam, which has two papers. Paper I focuses on general awareness/general knowledge, reasoning, comprehension, mathematical ability etc, while Paper 2 will be designed to check English writing skill and analytical capability. It will be followed by an interview and successful candidates will have to clear character and antecedent verification, and medical examination.

High time RAW is scrutinized or else it will become an unaccountable fiefdom of some.

Tent scam: CBI lodges case against unknown RAW officials
It is alleged that officials in Cabinet Secretariat and SFF repeatedly showed favours in the supply of pre-fabricated shelters for SFF at high altitude locations causing undue gain of several crores to the suppliers during 2009-13.
The CBI action came after the agency received a reference received from the Prime Minister's Office which wanted a probe in the matter.
RAW had carried out an internal probe in the matter in which prima facie irregularities were found.
The report was sent to the PMO which referred it to CBI for further probe.

It still seems voluntary to me, only that the coaching is being funded. There are organizations that coach students for SSB interviews and some philantropists who sponsor some candidates for Armed Forces. It is in the same vein albeit sponsorship for a particular community to improve their national contribution. We should avoid reverse pseudo-secularism.gauravsh wrote:You are missing the key point - One has to volunteer to join such services.PratikDas wrote: We need those who want to work for a cause to work for the Indian cause, not the Talibani one.
