Big congratulations to DRDO. I hope they indigenize the engine and rapidly test all flight profiles and modes, loitering etc. The sooner we start serial production the better

#BreakingNews #NirbhayLaunch The missile has also crossed an extra way point No 11: Sources.

given the urgency of this product, I hope they devote all resources to proof its other test points like lo-lo-lo flight etc asap and in parallel prepare for volume production of the TELAR, missile and support C3 systems in BEL and BDL so there is no delay from FOC->series production in tooling up or training. a lot of supporting industry will need months of lead time to procure the raw material and make the subsystems.

This test speaks volumes of the confidence of the team in the missile. They were confident enough to have live press coverage for this launch in form of our @Tarmak007, Yendeetv and zeetebhi. Kudos to the DRDO team.

Did the test missile carry a warhead? If not, are there any plans to recover the missile for post flight analysis?

Guys, this long delay from Mar 2013, to Oct 2014 makes me think that this was part of an Aman ki Tamasha CBM to the Pukes by UPA... The Nation geels proud.

Possible. But I think the people invovled told that they are going to test the second in the monsoon season immediately after the first test. True that top leadership increased with NM coming to power. He personally taking interest in all achievements of nation.

Possibly a lot more reviews and changes done to increase the reliability and mission profile of the missile and hence the longer time between tests.

It seems 11th waypoint was added 'on the fly' to demonstrate mid-way correction / re designation of the target. This was on top of the pre-programmed loitering.

Has now covered 300 km in 10 min. Going smooth. DRDO chief expected to make an announcement soon. ‪#‎GoNirbhayGo‬
Does not seem right. It would make is supersonic
Indeed 30km a minute equals mach 1.46. Could it be this puppy can supercruise? Great day for the nation. Excellent work from DRDO and Nirbhay Team. Now key thing would be to test frequently with a variety of warheads. They should keep the pace.

Check the picture. DDMs can't see the difference between Nirbhay and Akash
Cruise missile ‘Nirbhay’ successfully test-fired
http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/i ... 509942.ece

India’s indigenously developed nuclear capable sub-sonic cruise missile ‘Nirbhay’, which can strike targets more than 700 km away, was on Friday test-fired from a test range at Chandipur in Odisha.

“The missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher positioned at launch pad 3 of the Integrated Test Range at about 10.03 hours,” said an official soon after the flight took off from the launch ground.

“Flight details will be available after data retrieved from radars and telemetry points, monitoring the trajectories, are analysed,” the official said.

It is the second test of the sub-sonic long range cruise missile ‘Nirbhay’ from the ITR.

Folks, has the IA accepted the TATA 6x6, 8x8 or 12x12 trucks? These were to not only replace TATRA trucks but also server our containerised Ballistic Missiles as well as Prahaar... It would be great if we can deploy 3-6 Nirbhay is a TATA truck...
