Hamid Mir doing his bit of analysis:

Hamid mir cries thus:
1. Obama says that he supports India as a security council member while pakistan says that how can India be a security council member when India does not allow the security council resolution on Kashmir to be implemented.

Amreeka should not have said this from Indian soil, while Obama was touring India. This will further worsen the differences between India and Pakistan :(( :((
2. Both Moodi (SIC) and obama said that they will cooperate in defense research. This defense cooperation is only aimed against Pakistan

X-post from Paki Terrorism Thread
Pakistan withdraws official from Dhaka Embassy - The Hindu
Pakistan has withdrawn an official from its High Commission here after being asked by Dhaka, which alleged that he was financing terrorism.

Mohammad Mazhar Khan, an attaché at the consular section, was also an Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agent, Bangladesh Foreign Ministry officials said.
Mr. Khan, the Ministry has been told, left the country with his family on January 31.

Mr. Khan, intelligence and media reports said, used to route funds to groups such as the Hizb ut-Tahrir, the Ansarullah Bangla Team, the Jamaat-e-Islami and its students wing Islami Chatra Shibir.

He was earlier detained by the police here [Dhaka] in January along with one of his accomplices while having a secret meeting in Dhaka. However, he but was released when a Pakistani diplomat intervened

Vidya Balan to play Benazir Bhutto
According to a leading daily, Vidya has been offered two biopics. One of them is about the life of late actress Suchitra Sen, while the other one is on former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
So Bollywood (or is the offer from LOLlywood?) is now making biopics of Paki leaders? dafaq? If this is not a hoax and the movie does get made, I am sure she will be shown as a strong woman (which she was not), peace lover (which she was not) from South Asia onlee. If this offer is from Bollywood, then Bhatt camp will be my first suspect.

For Bakistanis - the sign that they are important to the world and that they do matter comes from
1. Hyphenation with India
2. Mention of Kashmir
3. Reference to Pakistan or Kashmir by US

Look out for mention of Kashmir by China. If China mentions Kashmir or Pakistan - we need to be prepared with a premeditated insult to them: Tibet, human rights, democracy, freedom of religion ect
Actually this is where (un)Fair didi actually gets it right:

If the Baki Army survives to see another day: then it becomes "We have been victorious our yeeevil yindoos"
If Bakistan gets a mention (even if negative) when there are bilateral talks between India and XYZ country: "We are an important junction country of the world, we have our raisin-dieter".

Bakistan is a junction whore waiting for the next customer.
Further thoughts - it appears that "talks with Pakistan" actually aided the Paki aim to keep the Kashmir pot boiling, to keep the "Kashmir issue internationalized" and keep the hyphenation with India. Every time there was any sort of meeting between any Indian of any consequence with a Paki, press reports were released about how te two "Nuclear adversaries are talking but nothing can be solved until India does justice to Kashmiris"

Normally only Indians read news from Pakistan. No one else in the world give a damn. But news like "nuclear flashpoint", "kashmir and nuclear war" will always reach the ears of almost any news medium in the world and Pakistanis used talks with India to capitalize on that.

Sonia, Manmohan Singh and co are a pox on India and I don't know what my poor nation did to deserve such an incompetent bunch of blabbering buffoons as leaders.

Pashto biradher says it like it is:
Jo jatthe hamne banaye hain apni kharja policy ke tehat, ye doosro ki bajay haume nuksaan pahuncha rahe hain, hamare bacchon ko chun chun ke maar rahe hain.
These groups that we have created as an extension of our military policy, instead of hurting our rivals, they are hurting us, they are killing our children one by one

Ultimately, Pakistan nahi sudhrega. They are paying just lip service to combating terrorism even after the peshawar army school massacre. Even after their own army family kids got killed, Pakistan is still going on with its terrorism sponsoring ways.

Pakistani hosts worried that there has been a demographic change in Jammu and Kashmir.
They claim, (after indulging in some madarsa maths and sialkot statistics), that there were 84% muslims around partition, now India has brought about a change and there are onlee 36% muslims there.
The Anchor's tubelight lights up and he blurts out, "Onlee 36% muslims hain ji!!! What will happen to Pleb-e-site hain ji!!! What if that vote is held now ji!!!"
And then every one browns their pants...

Some people are criticizing Modi for his many foreign trips. The fact that he had to make so many trips soon after becoming PM shows how screwed up our foreign policy had been under UPA 2. MMS didn't even visit Nepal. Full points to Modi sarkaar on foreign policy so far.

SSji, I forget the name of the movie, a recent one, which was produced by Bhatts but not out of Mumbai but out of London. Movie was registered in London. It had Paki actors too. Not sure whether it was done for financial reasons or it was part of a bigger scheme to build an Indo-Pak South Asian movie industry. I can see why ISI like org would be interested in such a scheme.

JAnnat ki Chah Mey Humne Kiye Qital Barre, Paki Naseeb Ki jahannum Mey Phir Bhi Aaan Parreh. Yeh Sookkro Ko Aqal Phir Bhi Nyye Aayyee
Killer’s defence lawyers eye ‘heavenly reward’
From The Land of Ilm Din's Laundas
ISLAMABAD: The lawyers who thronged the court in support of Mumtaz Qadri, the killer of Salman Taseer, do so in hope of a ‘heavenly reward’ as they believe defending the convict is part of their ‘religious obligations.’They were there on a chilly Tuesday morning, in all shapes and sizes and ages – thin, plump; old, middle aged and young; dressed in crumpled gowns and with straggly beards or clean shaven, clad in smart winter coats.Among those who attended the hearing of an appeal filed by Qadri against his conviction by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) were member Punjab Bar Council Sajjad Akbar Abbasi, former presidents Lahore High Court (LHC) bar association, Rawalpindi, Taufiq Asif, and Ahsanuddin Sheikh, and former president Islamabad bar association Naseer Kayani. All of them were there to assist the lead counsel for Qadri - former chief justice of LHC Khawaja Mohammad Sharif and retired Justice Mian Nazir Ahmed, who have come out of retirement to defend Qadri.
As a lawyer present there commented: “These two ‘defence’ lawyers are senior to the judges hearing this case.”But it appeared that most of those present were doing their ‘religious duty’.
When Dawn asked a lawyer why he had associated himself with the case, Mohammad Waqas Malik replied: “Ghazi Ilam Din, who killed a ‘blasphemer’, was represented by Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.”When another lawyer reminded him that Ghazi Ilam Din was convicted and hanged, Malik shrugged and said: “It was during the government of non-believers and the judge who convicted Ilam Din was also a non-Muslim.”For them, standing for Mumtaz Qadri is a religious obligation
Similar views were also expressed by the former chief justice of LHC Khawaja Mohammad Sharif after the court’s proceedings. In the courtroom, it seemed as if there was a dominant narrative.Mohammad Azhar Chaudhry, former vice-chairman of the Punjab Bar Council, said he returned Rs10 million that the previous PPP government had offered and refused to become a prosecutor in the Taseer murder case in 2011. And he did this, he said, because he is also a Qadri supporter.Sajjad Abbasi, member Punjab Bar Council, told Dawn that his (Abbasi’s) legal and religious obligations compelled him to support Qadri.”A senior office-bearer of the IHC bar association in a lighter tone whispered that “the prosecutor in this case will get a US visa for sure especially if he succeeds in getting Qadri’s appeal dismissed.”“It would become difficult for the prosecutor to live in the country after this case.”
Others went so far as to say that the judge that had earlier found Qadri guilty had already migrated despite the fact that someone insisted that he was still in the country.
However, as compared to January 27, the strength of Qadri’s supporters outside the IHC building had nearly doubled. They had gathered on the service road adjacent to the IHC much before the proceedings began. Carrying the flags of Pakistan Sunni Tehrik (PST), they stayed there till the end.
Qadri’s brother Malik Mohammad Safeer was also among them. He said his brother had done nothing wrong. “He (Qadri) is satisfied in jail and has asked us not to visit him in the prison.”
Earlier, a young lawyer had said in the courtroom: “He is approaching the court for the legal route. Otherwise, look at what happened in Bannu. People broke into the jail to free the inmates.”

6,600MW Gadani power project put on back burner

Batti Bundh But Mush Is Open: Taste Of Medina Night in new MADina Days
ISLAMABAD: The government said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s signature mega power project – 6,600MW coal-based Gadani Power Park Project – for ending loadshedding had been put on the back burner because of changing priorities of the Chinese government. In a testimony before the National Assembly’s standing committee on planning and development, top officers of the power ministry and Pakistan Power Park Management Company (PPMC), which has been set up to specifically undertake and facilitate the Gadani mega project, said a decision had also “been taken that all work relating to PPMC may be handed over to the Private Power and Infrastructure Board for rationalisation of the project”.The parliamentary panel was informed that the PPMC was set up in 2013 for construction of infrastructure like port facilities, coal handling, roads, jetty, etc, to enable setting up of 10 power projects of 660MW each and a transmission line for evacuation of its power. The cost of the entire project was estimated at $6-8 billion. The committee was told that memorandums of understanding were also signed with China under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project for 10 Gadani Power Projects, but later Beijing scaled down its priority over financial and technical apprehensions. For example, the Chinese had concerns over payment issues against electricity sales after the completion of projects and suggested AC, instead of DC, circuit transmission line.
The parliamentary panel was informed Pakistan had even agreed to set up a revolving fund to facilitate direct payments to power producers against electricity sales and was ready to set up AC circuit transmission line, but China reduced the number of projects to four from 10.As a consequence, Pakistan had to redesign the entire project because transmission line and port facilities also needed to be in consonance with 2,600MW, instead of 6,600MW, but the Chinese side reduced Gwadar Power Park on its priority order. The committee was also told that a subsequent meeting of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project expert group decided to downgrade the 660x4 coal power projects at Gwadar from ‘Early Harvest Projects’ to ‘Actively Promoted List’. The meeting was informed that 14 projects on the early harvest project list were now being pursued for completion by 2018, while the remaining seven projects, including Gadani, would be considered for priority implementation depending on progress achieved on the ground.
The government had received expressions of interest from only six companies for 10 projects of 660MW each despite repeated extension in deadlines. ( 10 %)The government had created the Gadani Power Park Management Company early last year as a special purpose vehicle for the anagement of 6,600MW power projects and to provide infrastructure facilities at the site to facilitate international investors, mostly from China. The 10 projects were first advertised in July last year seeking expressions of interest by Aug 18. Attributing the poor response from investors to sit-in protests in the federal capital, the government extended the deadline to Sept 29, but the response failed to pick up.The deadline was further extended to Oct 31. The government had earlier registered foreign companies for setting up all 10 projects at Gadani through negotiated memoranda of understanding. The firms had deposited earnest money in foreign exchange, but the government decided to invite bids to meet procurement rules to avoid controversies for awarding contracts through negotiations. Therefore, it asked the registered firms to send their expressions of interest, telling them their previous earnest money would be returned or adjusted.

Now, a taste of its own medicine.

Some elements circulating counterfeit currency: State Bank of Pakistan - Dawn

LAHORE: Acting Governor of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Saeed Ahmad says that anti-state elements are involved in circulating counterfeit Pakistani currency in the country to undermine the national economy.

“The central bank is vigilant to foil designs of these elements,” Mr Ahmad told newsmen at a conference on ‘currency management: strategies for the future,’ arranged by SBP at a hotel here on Tuesday.

He said an extensive campaign would be launched to create awareness among the masses about spoiled and counterfeit notes. A documentary had been produced which would be broadcast on TV channels while a smart-phone application had been developed to help people differentiate between the genuine and fake currency, the acting governor said.

The Chairman and Managing Director of Pakistan Security Printing Corporation, Mr Misbah Tunio, said that ‘enemy countries’ were producing Pakistan’s counterfeit currency which was exclusively being used for terrorist activities in the country.

“These counterfeit notes of high quality are used to create law and order situation in Pakistan,” he said, adding that the same paper and ink was being used in producing fake currency but with different serial numbers which only experts could detect.

The acting governor of the SBP said that many security features in the Pakistani currency could help differentiate between a genuine and fake currency notes. “These features are very hard to replicate in the fake note.

However, the people at large usually do not know about these features and the awareness campaign will help them in spotting a genuine currency note,” he said.

The SBP, said Mr Ahmad, was working on introducing hologram and other security features on currency notes. It is a costly plan and it is yet to be decided to which denomination it will be added. Initially, Rs5000 domination notes should have hologram that should be followed by Rs1000 notes while the rest would be considered at a later stage,” he said.

Apparently, China has not yet officially confirmed President Eleven as chief guest at the Pakistani military parade. It looks like Pakistanis out of extreme desperation because of Obama's visit to India, hastily announced that Eleven will be the chief guest. :rotfl:

I think President Eleven may not attend the parade though he may visit Pakistan -
* Pakis are trying to use President Eleven to boost their H&D after Obama's visit to India. They are using Eleven as Obama's substitute. I am sure Chinese see this.
* Security concerns.

Ties with India not at cost of China or Pakistan: US official
"I would fundamentally point to the fact that this is a US-India effort and it's not necessarily to counterweight anyone," Phil Reiner, White House's senior director for South Asian Affairs, told foreign media at a round table Tuesday on Obama's India trip.

"I don't think either the US or India has an interest in any kind of confrontation or much less any sort of intent to contain China" he said. "That's not the intent," Reiner said. "The intent here is to work together... to work off of the core values that we have to build India up."

"And this is something that we're very much interested in doing, and it's in both of our interests to do so," he said. "I would not necessarily put that forward, though, as a counterweight to China per se."

Both US and India, Reiner said, were "very much interested in working off of those fundamental values and establishing systems that basically work off of established rules and norms in the international sphere to avoid conflict, to avoid any situation where there may be perceived bullying."

Discounting a New York Times report that the first issue that Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed as soon as they met was China, he said "there was many things that we spoke about."

"Coming in the door, I think the primary thing that was talked about was the fact that we had just reached agreement on these two seminal documents - on the Delhi declaration and on the joint strategic vision," Reiner said.

China was simply "an element" in the discussion about the region and "as we engage in the region and as countries grow and continue to expand their economic domain, that this is done within the rules and international norms that exist today," he said.

"The China conversation is just as important as the full spectrum of conversations that we're having about East Asia and the Indian Ocean writ large and the connectivity that remains there," hew said.

In response to a question about Pakistan, Reiner said Obama and Modi "have maintained a consistent dialogue on the region, and of course, that includes Pakistan, it includes Afghanistan."

The two he said had "a very positive conversation about the small steps" the two countries had taken "that'll create that space so that the two can begin to re-engage."

"And this is something that the United States very much supports, and that's the nature of the discussion between the two leaders, that a dialogue is really something that would be incredibly important between the two countries and that we encourage it," Reiner said.

Rejecting Pakistani criticism that US-India nuclear deal might upset the strategic stability in the region, Reiner pointed out that it was an agreement that was actually reached a number of years ago.

"This is simply the policy breakthrough that was necessary in order to actually implement what was already an existing agreement," he said.

"So in terms of strategic stability, it's really a continuation of something that already existed and has not had a negative impact."

Reiner said over the course of the years, the US had "made it very clear that we can maintain robust relationships with both countries and that it's not zero-sum."
See how the above takes *note* of most of the key concerns of Bakistan.

With more advanced missiles and nuclear bums than India, Bakistan has nothing to worry. Also, per Stockhome <whatever>, it has more weapons than India. So all izz well and Bakistan need not worry about the Indian *toys*.

Clearly Indian needs to catch up with Bakistan! It needs to upgrade it missiles and nuclear bums. It also needs to produce more to just *match* the Bakistani lead and achieve *strategic balance* in sooth ayesha.

I don't see why she's so worried about something for which the ultimate unibrow deterrent is built in.

Her intention is to slyly suggest that the program is not Indian in origin and thus bring in elements of misgiving into the (warhead) non proliferation/MTCR reputation. What is actually bothering them is that India has an internally demonstrated capability in such diverse defence related fields and they have blazed a genuinely independent path to national security. First or second strike capability is assured with such a single mobile launch platform dispersed widely throughout the country without recourse to the other two parts of the nuke triad. Their short range tactical stuff cannot counter the massive stand off range that our solid fueled systems now automatically provide.

If they develop longer range stuff, sanctions will kick in and their chinese pals may not be so sympathetic after all. Note that the chinese have cut back on many infrastructure projects in pukiland and the reasons for this is not so clear yet. It may well be tied to mollifying India because of their US concerns

If the lizard-chief is even thinking of visiting bakistan, I would count him among the dumbest of the dumb. The place is a boiling cauldron of hate and violence. Besides after the Lal Masjid massacre, in which China's hand was openly evident, whatever goodwill was there for China must have evaporated. There is a strong possibility that the lizard chief will get bumped off - hopefully leading to some skirmishes on their border.

Chinese are one of the ultimate mercantile/bania caste. Just look at level of aid to bakiland. Most projects have not materialized because of security and/or return of investment concerns.
