There is no alternative to boots on ground for any leverage.

Russia controls the car region with physical presence.

If we wanted to control af no amt of humanitarian work would suffice.
We needed couple brigades of trainers and advisers onsite working with
Afghani army same way us army works with allies.

Even.iceland gives medical and edu aid

Agree that boots are required on the ground. But with a pro-pakistani leadership in Afghanisthan, this is less feasible than it was when there was a pro-India leadership in charge like Karzai. Clearly, just providing aid is useless, seeing how India's substantial aid is now mostly useless in terms of leverage in Afghanisthan.

Policy towards India
MY previous article was about the importance of India in the context of our obligations towards our own people. This offers brief comments and perspectives on specific concerns. For so-called ‘leaders’ they will be water off a duck’s back! They are, accordingly, addressed to fellow Pakistanis concerned about our country’s future.
Conclusion: India’s actions and policies, however provocative, should not lead us into irrational, irresponsible and inefficient responses. That might satisfy vested interests and raw emotion. But Pakistan loses every time. The record shows it. Even nuclear weapons cannot compensate for immature, stupid and self-serving leadership.

Pakistan sitting Ahead in arms race
WASHINGTON: An infographic created by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists reveals that Pakistan is ahead of India in the nuclear arms race by 10 atomic weapons. While India has 110 atomic weapons, Pakistan possesses 120.The infographic illustrates the history of nuclear arms procurement and testing in both countries since they first tested nuclear weapons just three weeks apart in 1998.According to the Nuclear Notebook, the testing of nuclear weapons for the very first time by both countries in the late nineties displayed a failure on the part of the international community to fully commit itself to the regulation and control of atomic weapons ─ despite a general global trend towards the non-proliferation of these weapons. The nuclear disarmament movement started gaining momentum in 1987, at which time the United States and Soviet Union had signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty prohibiting the procurement and deployment of intermediate and shorter-range nuclear weapons with ranges between 500 and 5,500 km.

This Bulletin of Atomic Scientists is mostly utter horsesh!t -- let us examine how these "Scientists" got their data to proclaim that Pakistan has more nukes than India, while recalling that these same jokers in the USA and the "west" had no clue that Osama Bin Laden was in Pakistan, which about shows their worthless intelligence gathering capabilities in Pakistan.

So how did these scientists pull this "pakistan has 120 nukes" claim out of a hat? Either they made this sh1t up for the n-th time, or were being fed BS and kept in the dark by the intelligence agencies of one or more countries.

If the pakis had 20 weapons and these aholes who call themselves "atomic scientists" made up a figure that was an order of magnitude higher, would the pakis complain? no. So who actually gains from this bit of misinformation from the "Bullshiting of Atomic Scientists"?

1. USA -- gets to continue its "offshore balancing" and pretend its usual "sooth asia is a new clear flashpoint" nonsense
2. Pakis -- if someone overestimates their mijjile size by a order of magnitude, it can only make the pakis feel more manly and pop a couple more manhood-enhancing pills and strut around making nuclear blackmail threats to India.

There is no reason for pakis, USA, or China or any of these mofos to actually state the reality of a non existent paki nuclear missile threat. Pakis keep firing ding dongs whenever they feel their manliness drooping in the pants. This Bullshitin of Atomic Scientists is a complete fricking joke and not to be taken seriously.

Meanwhile Back at the Lunatic Asylum

Unfulfilled guarantee: Question marks hover over LNG import
KARACHI: As it slowly becomes apparent that the government will not be able to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) any time soon, it has left the private company that built the multi-million dollar terminal in disarray.
Engro Elengy Terminal Limited (EETL), a subsidiary of Engro Corporation, has invested over $133.3 million to build a jetty, pipeline among other facilities to handle LNG import after winning a government contract.
This unit, which EETL has hired from an American company, was supposed to berth at its Port Qasim jetty on March 10 (Tuesday).
A delay in bringing LNG beyond March 31 would mean Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has to pay $272,000 every day to EETL as capacity payment. Import gas will go into the pipeline system of SSGC to be distributed to various customers.
Officials in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources including Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have been given statements for months on how close the government is in signing a contract with its Qatari counterpart to import LNG.
Yet nothing has been announced so far.
Even if Pakistan stands ready to book a consignment today, it might take weeks before it can actually import it.
“Officials haven’t finalised a lot of little things like the surveyor who will check quality and quantity of LNG. What about wharfage, insurance, L/C charge and other incidentals. How would they fit in the price structure?
All these things involve lengthy paperwork, overlapping jurisdiction of various departments and approvals of regulatory authorities.

Not surprising considering Pakis recently announced finalization of the LNG deal with Qatar without any confirmation from Qatar. :rotfl: This was called out in this thread http://forums.bharat-rakshak.com/viewto ... 4#p1803414 -

Pakis have one again prematurely announced a $21B ($7 per MMBTU excluding shipping costs) deal but Qatargas has not confirmed. No news about it from Qatar at all! Pakistanis tried very hard to beat the price India got from Qatar which is $10 per MMBTU but Qatar wouldn't offer anything lower than $18-19 to Pakis. This was last year. One Paki minister even said Pakistan should manage a better deal than India. After almost a year when the oil prices tanked, Pakis seem to have struck a deal for < $10 and claiming victory over India. While their claim is yet to be confirmed by Qatargas, evil yindoo banias signed an LNG contract with Australia for $8.2/MMBTU including shipping costs. Pakis will have to renegotiate with Qatar to save H&D.
For the full LNG story, pliss to see this - http://forums.bharat-rakshak.com/viewto ... 4#p1686224 . Too long to quote in full.

CRamS - let's face it. Pakistan needs more nukes. It has been wronged by so many countries. Starting with India. The Jews need elimination in Israel and the Americans have insulted the honour of the Pakistani fizzeleya in their Osama raid. The Russians are anti-Muslim.Imagine for a moment that Pakistan uses up all its nukes against India. They Jews and Americans will then swallow up Pakistan. Pakistani proliferation is justified and pardonable, given the tough world the shitistanis have to live in.

I should prefer India demanding meeting with disgruntled elements in GB. Pakistan may say Balochistan is not a piece of contention between the two countries and in fact use it as a proof that India is helping the BLA. OTOH, GB is ours, illegally occupied by Pakistan and there are elements there who have issues with Pakistan.
What should happen is that India should assert its right to meet POK or GB rebels, and still deny pakis the right to meet the hurriyat. No equal-equal.

Pakistan will tour India in 2016, says Shahryar
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman while talking in an exclusive interview to Headline Today said that “Cricket has an important role in building relationships and sports and politics should be kept separate.” He confirmed that India will visit Pakistan at their new home, the UAE, for a bilateral series in December 2015. Furthermore, he talked about the MoU that has been signed between the PCB and the BCCI, according to which India and Pakistan are scheduled to play 12 Tests, 30 ODIs and 11 Twenty20s spread over six series in eight years. When asked if India will visit Pakistan for a series in the near future, he said, “I hope so,” he replied.

“Because things are getting better”. Peshawar and Quetta are not good but the rest of Pakistan is pretty good. “We have now got two or three venues – Karachi and Lahore – where we can seal the area around the stadium. The venues are very good, they are Test playing venues and you have living quarters next door which means all that the cricketers have to do is to take their kit bags and walk across under a tunnel.
They can also provide bullet proof vests of highest quality in the world that were stolen off the NATO trucks before burning them down to the players just in case there are holes in their security or tunnel :rotfl: :rotfl:

Pak tried secret deal with al-Qaeda as terror group targeted India

Praveen Swami , Sushant Singh | New Delhi |
March 11, 2015

TOP Pakistani politician Shahbaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab province and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s brother, as well as the country’s powerful Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), had attempted to negotiate a secret peace deal with al-Qaeda in the summer of 2010, documents filed by US prosecutors in a federal court in New York last month have revealed.

Letters found in slain al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden’s safehouse show that Pakistan reached out to Said al-Masri, al-Qaeda’s number three — even as the group was beginning to expand its operations against India, the documents show.

Found by US special forces during their raid on Bin Laden’s safehouse in Abbotabad, the documents were used by prosecutors to convict Pakistani-origin British national Abid Naseer. Naseer was extradited from the United Kingdom in 2013 to face charges of having led a terror cell that planned to stage mass-casualty terror attacks in Manchester and New York.

Bin Laden, prosecutors were able to demonstrate using the documents, was kept informed of the plot by al-Qaeda’s head of external operations, Abdirizaq Abdi Saleh, also known as ‘Saleh the Somali’.

The negotiations began, the documents show, in the summer of 2010. Al-Qaeda’s manager Atiyah Abd al-Rahman told Bin Laden in a June 2010 letter that the “Pakistani enemy has been corresponding with us and with the Tehreek-i-Taliban (Hakimullah) for a very short time, since the days of Hafiz”. Hafiz, US prosecutors told the court, was a code-name for Said al-Masri; Hakimullah to the former head of the TTP, Hakimullah Mehsud.

Rahman also informed bin Laden that the CM of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif had “sent them a message indicating they (the Punjab government) wanted to negotiate with them, and they were ready to reestablish normal relations as long as they do no conduct operations in Punjab.”

The letter records, in addition, that “we received a messenger from them bringing us a letter from the Intelligence leaders including Shuja’ Shah, and others”— a possible reference to Lieutenant-General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, then the head of the ISI.

General Pasha has been alleged to have known that the ISI was aware of Bin Laden’s presence in Abbotabad, an allegation he has denied. He is also alleged to have had contact with the 26/11 plotters, through several serving ISI personnel named by convicted perpetrator David Coleman Headley.

In the secret peace negotiations, Rahman told Bin Laden, Pakistan was informed that “we are prepared to leave you be. Our battle is primarily against the Americans”.

Sirajuddin Haqqani, the patriarch of the feared Afghanistan jihadist network that bears his name, acted as al-Qaeda’s emissary during these negotiations, while Pakistan was represented by the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen chief Fazl-ur-Rehman Khalil, a shadowy terror commander notionally proscribed by Pakistan but living in freedom in Islamabad.

Even as these peace talks proceeded ahead, several of its participants were developing new terror networks targeting India. In May, 2010, just after its key negotiator al-Masri was killed in a US drone strike near Miramshah, al-Qaeda released an audiotaped message in which al-Masri claimed credit for the bombing of the German Bakery in Pune.

“February’s India operation was against a Jewish locale in the west of the Indian capital [sic., throughout], in the area of the German bakeries — a fact that the enemy tried to hide-and close to 20 Jews were killed,” he said.

David Coleman Headley told FBI that he had conducted reconnaissance at the German Bakery for Brigade 313 jihadist Muhammad Illyas Kashmiri, who was setting up an al-Qaeda unit to target India.

In 2012, Pakistan’s Daily Times reported Kashmiri had also held secret meetings with Hakimullah Mehsud-the second target of the peace effort-coordinate operations between al-Qaeda and the TTP.

India’s NIA is now prosecuting Karnataka resident Muhammad Ahmad Siddibapa, also known as Yasin Bhatkal, for planting the bomb that went off at the German Bakery. The NIA alleges that Siddibapa carried out the attack on instructions from Indian Mujahideen military chief Riyaz Ahmad Shahbandri-who, in turn, is known to have been in touch with al-Qaeda, through the Tehreek-e-Taliban.

Khalil, in turn, is alleged to have mentored the commander of the newly-formed al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent, Maulana Asim Umar — revealed by The Indian Express to be a Gujarat-born and New Delhi-raised cleric. In 2004-2006, Umar lived at the Harkat-ul-Mujahdeen’s offices near Karachi, and, according to intelligence sources, was again sighted there in December. He is thought to be in regular contact with Khalil.

From 2008 on, Umar was reported to have joined ranks with Illyas Kashmiri. Kashmiri was reported killed — for the third time — in a drone strike last year. His body, however, was not sighted.

Err..pakis like Hamid Mir were actually Al Qaeda and liasing on behalf of Osama, so what exactly is new and interesting in this new round of utter nonsense by Praveen "My grandmother crossed the LoC" Swami? It speaks as if the Pakis and "Al Qaeda" were two different groups exactly like western anal-ist numbnuts who spread this nonsense, and some utterly worthless think tanks in Bangalore keep repeating on a regular basis.

In all of recorded history,

Total bums made ~100,000.

Bums tested ~1000s.

Bums used 2.

Bakis arent using any bums against anybody. I say this not because of their civilised senses, but only the demonstrated extreme cowardice.

The chinese are the only irrational country that might some day employ them. Everybody else would be better off converting the material to fuel and reducing the arabs to beggers again. Without fuel costs (ample nukular power == cheap national energy grids, electric cars, the lot) manufacturing may well become feasible again in developed countries. Recent african / east european slave imports can prpvide the labor.

Edit -- This whole jihadi bum fear propaganda is about as reliable as the iran bum threatens israel propaganda. There is NO fear of jihadi-bum. It is an excuse to arm bakis. Before the jihadi bum it was "restore conventional arms balance" mantra. People are not old enough to remember this.

I must admit, when I see anything written by Praveen Swami, its puke time. He will come up with a lot of pedantic horse manure to suggest that he is some kind of serious probing journalist, but he is essentially a lifafa Mofo.

Thus, pardon me for guessing, but in the Al Queda crap that he pukes above, is he saying that Pakis have been sooooo good that they prevented a terror attack by the mighty Al Queda against India? Probably fed to him by some CIA or state dept agents assigned to "South Asia" desks.

And so the implication is, baaaad BJP harping on terror is communalism while TSP is fighting "terrorism" tooth and nail? And of course NYT will say "Hindu-extremists" are pushing soot Asia to the brink of nuke armaggadon.

And so piss process and kirket must be resumed with TSP in full earnest, and core issue must be discussed. And when that happens, you can be rest assured Swami, Bukara, Thappad, and gang will be in flow round the clock doling out all the intricate legalities of Kashmir to brainwash why "joint management", giving TSP as say the valley etc etc. And why India will become super power by doing so. You get the drift, all the gora scripted machinations to somehow bring India down and elevate TSP. Equal equal mantra.

Canada alleges Pakistani man plotted bombing US consulate in Toronto

A Pakistani man inspired by Islamic State planned to attack the US consulate in Toronto and other targets in the city’s financial district but was caught when he shared his plan with an undercover police officer, Canada’s immigration authorities said on Wednesday.
Jahanzeb Malik, 33, was arrested on Monday after an undercover Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer befriended him as part of a long investigation into the former student, who has a record of travel to Pakistan and allegedly underwent combat training in Libya.
“He told the undercover officer about his plan to build a remote controlled bombs to blow up the US consulate and other buildings in the financial district in Toronto,” the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada said in an email.
Malik, who came to Canada as a student in 2004 and became a permanent resident in 2009, also told the undercover officer of his plans to make a video of the bombings to encourage others to do the same.
“Malik attempted to radicalize the undercover officer by showing him videos, apparently of ISIL beheadings,” the agency said.
Malik is being detained by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and has not yet been charged with any criminal offences. The accusations have not been proven.
The Canadian government is seeking to deport Malik as a security threat and the hearing at the Immigration and Refugee Board on Wednesday was held to determine whether he should be detained during the deportation process, which can take months.
Another Pakistani man suspected of militant links, Muhammad Aqeeq Ansari, is being held awaiting possible deportation.

Osama bin Laden’s Files: The Pakistani government wanted to negotiate
BY THOMAS JOSCELYN | March 9th, 2015 | tjoscelyn@gmail.com | @thomasjoscelyn

osama-bin-laden
Recently released files recovered in Osama bin Laden’s compound show that parts of the Pakistani government made attempts to negotiate with al Qaeda in 2010. The letters were released as evidence in the trial of Abid Naseer, who was convicted on terrorism charges by a Brooklyn jury earlier this month.

One of the files is a letter written by Atiyah Abd al Rahman (“Mahmud”), who was then the general manager of al Qaeda, to Osama bin Laden (identified as Sheikh Abu Abdallah) in July 2010. The letter reveals a complicated game involving al Qaeda, the Pakistani Taliban, the brother of Pakistan’s current prime minister, and Pakistan’s intelligence service.

“Regarding the negotiations, dear Sheikh, I will give you an overview, may God support me in this,” Rahman wrote. “The Pakistani enemy has been corresponding with us and with Tahreek-i-Taliban (Hakeemullah) for a very short time, since the days of Hafiz, may God have mercy on him.” Hakeemullah Mehsud was the head of the Pakistani Taliban at the time. The “Hafiz” mentioned is Mustafa Abu Yazid (Sheikh Saeed al Masri), who served as al Qaeda’s general manager prior to his death in May 2010. Rahman succeeded Yazid in that role.

“We discussed the matter internally, then we talked with Abu-Muhammad later once we were able to resume correspondence with him,” Rahman explained. “Abu-Muhammad” is the nom de guerre of Ayman al Zawahiri. As a result of these discussions, al Qaeda was willing to broker a deal in which the jihadists’ would ease off the Pakistanis so long as the military and intelligence services stopped fighting al Qaeda and its allies.

“Our decision was this: We are prepared to leave you be. Our battle is primarily against the Americans. You became part of the battle when you sided with the Americans,” Rahman wrote, explaining al Qaeda’s position towards the Pakistani government. “If you were to leave us and our affairs alone, we would leave you alone. If not, we are men, and you will be surprised by what you see; God is with us.”

Al Qaeda’s negotiating tactic was simple. Either the Pakistanis leave them alone, or they would suffer more terrorist attacks. Rahman’s letter reveals how bin Laden’s men sought to convey their message. They relied on Siraj Haqqani, the senior leader of the Haqqani Network, which has long been supported by the Pakistani military and intelligence establishment.

Rahman summarized al Qaeda’s plan thusly: “We let slip (through Siraj Haqqani, with the help of the brothers in Mas’ud and others; through their communications) information indicating that al Qaeda and Tahreek-i-Taliban [the Pakistani Taliban] have big, earth shaking operations in Pakistan, but that their leaders had halted those operations in an attempt to calm things down and relieve the American pressure.”

“But if Pakistan does any harm to the Mujahidin in Waziristan, the operations will go forward, including enormous operations ready in the heart of the country,” Rahman explained. This is the message al Qaeda “leaked out through several outlets.”

In response, “they, the intelligence people…started reaching out to” al Qaeda through Pakistani jihadist groups they “approve of.”

One of Pakistani intelligence’s emissaries was Fazlur Rehman Khalil, the longtime leader of Harakat ul Mujahedin (HUM). Khalil is a well-known bin Laden ally, as he signed the al Qaeda chieftain’s infamous fatwa calling for jihad against the “Crusaders and Zionists” in 1998. Pakistani intelligence used Khalil’s HUM to send al Qaeda a letter.

“We received a messenger from them bringing us a letter from the Intelligence leaders including Shuja’ Shah, and others,” Rahman wrote, according the US government’s translation. “They said they wanted to talk to us, to al Qaeda. We gave them the same message, nothing more.”

Beyond his role as a leader in Pakistani intelligence, “Shuja’ Shah” is not further identified in the letter. Ahmad Shuja Pasha was the head of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency at the time. Some have alleged that Pasha knew bin Laden was located in Abbottabad. Pasha has denied this. Rahman’s letter does not indicate that “Shuja’ Shah” or Pakistani intelligence knew of bin Laden’s whereabouts, but it does show that they knew how to get in touch with his top lieutenants. All they had to do was ring jihadists such as HUM’s Khalil, one of the many jihadists the Pakistanis “approve” of.

Pakistani intelligence got in touch with al Qaeda again a “little later,” sending the “same man” who had acted as a messenger the first time. But now the messenger had back up, including a former head of the ISI with well-known jihadist sympathies.

Rahman noted: “This time the surprise was that they brought Hamid Gul into the session, and Fazlur Rehman Khalil attended with them as an advisor!” Gul headed the ISI in the late 1980s. During that time and after, he cultivated and the maintained deep ties to Pakistan’s jihadists.

Rahman summarized for bin Laden what the Pakistani intelligence liaisons had to say at the meeting. “Be patient with us for a little bit,” Rahman quoted them as saying, indicating that the Pakistanis had requested a cooling off period of up to two months. The Pakistani representatives continued: “We are trying to convince the Americans, we are putting pressure on them to negotiate with al Qaeda and we are trying to convince them that negotiating with the Taliban separate from al Qaeda is pointless. So please wait a little.”

If “we can convince the Americans,” the Pakistanis said, then we “have no objection to negotiating with you and sitting with you,” meaning al Qaeda.

Al Qaeda’s representatives agreed to pass the message onto to their leaders.

The Punjab government also wanted to negotiate

The very next paragraph of Rahman’s letter to bin Laden recounts a separate negotiation. This one, according to the letter, was initiated by Shah Baz Sharif of “the Punjab government.” Shah Baz Sharif is the brother of Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan’s current prime minister.

Rahman informed Hakeemullah Mehsud and Qari Husayn of the Pakistani Taliban that Shah Baz Sharif had “sent them a message indicating they [the government] wanted to negotiate with them, and they were ready to reestablish normal relations as long as they do no conduct operations in Punjab.” Rahman clarified that the proposed deal was restricted to the “governmental jurisdiction” of Punjab and didn’t include other areas such as Islamabad.

“The government said they were ready to pay any price…and so on,” Rahman wrote. “They told us the negotiations were under way.” Rahman then made it clear that the Pakistani Taliban was to keep al Qaeda’s leadership in the loop at all times. “We stressed that they [Pakistani Taliban] needed to consult us on everything, and they promised they would.” Rahman noted that he had discussed the talks in his “last meeting” with Hakeemullah Mehsud, and the Pakistani Taliban leader told him “there was nothing new” and Mehsud agreed to “report anything new to” bin Laden.

“I let him know what has been happening with us, and advised him to be careful of them,” meaning the Pakistanis, Rahman wrote. Mehsud believed that al Qaeda “should not appear in the picture” and “should not sit” with the Pakistanis during the negotiations. Al Qaeda was evidently content to have the Pakistani Taliban handle the direct talks. “I agreed with him on this in principle,” Rahman wrote, stressing that al Qaeda’s “leadership” would be consulted and bin Laden’s “consent” was needed before any decisions were made.

Rahman’s summary of Shah Baz Sharif’s position is entirely consistent with Sharif’s public rhetoric at the time. On Mar. 15, 2010, the Pakistani newspaper Dawn published an article discussing Sharif’s desire for the Pakistani Taliban to halt its attacks in the Punjab. Sharif blamed the escalation of violence in Pakistan on Pervez Musharraf, the former president. Sharif stated that the Taliban and his political party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), were both opposed Musharraf.

Sharif was therefore “surprised that this common stance has failed to stop the Taliban from carrying out terror attacks in Punjab.” Sharif harshly criticized American policy, portraying Musharraf as a puppet for outside powers.

“Gen Musharraf planned a bloodbath of innocent Muslims at the behest of others only to prolong his rule, but we in the PML-N opposed his policies and rejected dictation from abroad and if the Taliban are also fighting for the same cause then they should not carry out acts of terror in Punjab (where the PML-N is ruling),” Dawn quoted Sharif as saying.

Al Qaeda was cautious, but willing to make a deal

Rahman’s July 2010 letter to bin Laden reveals that al Qaeda was cautious, but willing to make a deal with the Pakistani negotiators. Rahman wrote: “Are the Pakistanis serious, or are they playing around and dissembling?” Rahman believed, “Caution is mandatory, as is preparedness, awareness, and staying focused on the mission and resolve.”

Rahman also cited an opinion that bin Laden had previously expressed. “O Sheikh, we see it the way you said it: We will make use of any opportunity for a truce with the Pakistanis in order so we can focus on the Americans. That is clear.” Bin Laden’s subordinate noted “there will be some trouble for many of our Pakistani brothers, and do not forget the brothers in Swat, the brothers in Mas’ud,” but “we will clarify things and help them understand the issue and how important it is, and that it is the best possible result, with God’s support.”

A previously released letter from bin Laden to Rahman, authored in May 2010, shows that bin Laden had requested information on the negotiations. Rahman’s July 2010 letter was, therefore, part a running conversation on the topic within al Qaeda.

In May 2010, Bin Laden ordered Rahman to ask the Pakistani Taliban “about the truth in the news…about [the] beginnings of negotiations and truce talks between them and the Pakistani government.” Bin Laden wanted to know what the Pakistani Taliban’s opinion of the talks was and also Rahman’s take. The al Qaeda boss told Rahman that “much of what I have said about Yemen can be applied to the situation on your side.” At the time, bin Laden was trying to keep al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) out of a full-scale fight with the Yemeni government, preferring to keep al Qaeda focused on American targets. His advisors, including Ayman al Zawahiri, pushed back, noting that the Yemeni government was already taking the fight to AQAP. The documents reveal that al Qaeda had an extensive discussion on the proper war strategy for Yemen.

Bin Laden clearly wanted the jihadists to come to an accommodation with the Pakistani government if possible. Another letter from bin Laden to Rahman, dated August 2010, was introduced in the Brooklyn trial. “In regards to the truce with the Pakistani government, continuing the negotiations in the way you described is in the interest of the Mujahideen at this time,” bin Laden wrote, thereby offering his endorsement of Rahman’s negotiation plan.

A tip from the “Pakistanis”

In November 2010, Rahman wrote to bin Laden again. There were “renewed concerns and rumors about a possible campaign that will be waged by the [Pakistani] army on northern Waziristan, under pressure from the Americans, of course,” Rahman wrote. The “pressures” seemed to have “eased” after President Obama visited India without stopping in Pakistan. But Rahman reported that the Americans were using intercepts as leverage to urge the Pakistanis to fight the jihadists.

“The Pakistanis told some of the students here in the north that unless communications from Miram Shah and Mir Ali stop, the campaign is a possibility,” Rahman wrote. “They are referring to the pressure the Americans are putting on them because of the intercepted communications.”

Thus, someone in the Pakistani establishment tipped off the jihadists in northern Pakistan. Rahman assured bin Laden that the intercepts weren’t owed to a flaw in al Qaeda’s operational security, but instead due to undisciplined foreign fighters.

“The problem is not with us (the organization) and the disciplined, but rather in those loitering in the markets of Miram Shah and Mir Ali, who are not disciplined, and do not listen to anyone,” Rahman wrote. “They are Arabs, Turks, Azeris, even Germans, and many more mixtures. We always try to advise the group leaders and those who are wise, and we communicate with them to mitigate the bad, and make them understand public interest.”

Al Qaeda was taking steps to rein in the unruly jihadists. Rahman explained that al Qaeda was “currently in the process of establishing a Coordination Council for Turkish speaking groups (Turks, Turkmen, and Uzbeks, some of them are not part of the Taher Jan group, Azeris, and Bulgarians, probably.)”**

The “Taher Jan group” is a reference to the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), which was headed by Tahir Yuldashev (also known as Taher Jan) before his demise in 2009. As Rahman saw it, part of the problem was caused by Uzbeks who were not affiliated with the IMU.

Small subset from a much larger cache of documents

There was widespread outrage after the location of Osama bin Laden’s compound was revealed in early May 2011. He wasn’t living in the remote regions of northern Pakistan, where the drones had killed other al Qaeda leaders, but instead in a city not far from Islamabad. Abbottabad houses an elite Pakistani military academy and other elements of the Pakistani military and intelligence establishment. It is difficult to believe that no one in the Pakistani establishment knew of bin Laden’s location.

The bin Laden files released thus far are not sufficient to draw firm conclusions concerning the extent of the al Qaeda master’s support network in Pakistan. But the documents indicate that some key Pakistanis were at least willing to cut a deal with al Qaeda. Both Shah Baz Sharif and Pakistani intelligence leaders were willing to negotiate to put an end to the jihadists’ attacks. However, this does not mean that these same officials were collaborating with al Qaeda. And al Qaeda clearly disapproved of some of the Pakistani Taliban’s operations, even as the two groups were communicating at the senior leadership level.

More files need to be released to tell the whole story. Just two dozen documents out of the more than one million captured during the bin Laden raid have been made public.

Still, there are hints of even more nefarious connections in the small set of documents released thus far.

The letters introduced as evidence in Naseer’s trial confirm that the Pakistani military and intelligence establishment considers prominent al Qaeda-allied jihadists, such as HUM leader Fazlur Rehman Khalil, to be acceptable partners. And the Pakistanis knew that to get in touch with al Qaeda’s senior leadership all they needed to do was reach out to men such as Khalil.

Indeed, previous accounts indicate that a cellphone recovered from bin Laden’s courier revealed contacts with HUM commanders. [See LWJ report, Bin Laden’s courier tied to Pakistani-backed terror group.]

Some of Pakistan’s jihadist proxies are also al Qaeda’s closest allies.

**The US government’s translation of this letter identifies some of the jihadists as “Bulgarians,” but the letter may actually be referencing Bulgars, another ethnicity/nationality.

‘Pakistan suffering heavy losses from Indian mills emissions’.
Apart from damaging public health and crop cultivation, heavy fog mainly created by hazardous emissions from the coal-based Indian steel mills are causing a loss of $2 billion annually to Pakistan’s aviation industry.
This is a kafir conspiracy to access a low figure of $ 2 billion, according to Jinn calculations India and the whole world should pay atleast $ 2 Trillion for loss caused to TFTA paki souls.

Pakistan cricket team to tour India in 2016: PCB chief.
"We have now got two or three venues -- Karachi and Lahore -- where we can seal the area around the stadium. The venues are very good, they are Test playing venues and you have living quarters next door which means all that the cricketers have to do is to take their kit bags and walk across under a tunnel.

"We have got this in Karachi and Lahore, and we want to do it in Multan and Faislabad. We will then have four venues where you can be absolutely 100 per cent sure that there will be no security threat. The danger is in the travel between the hotel and the stadium, this is what happened to the Sri Lankan team (in 2009)," Khan said.
Using tunnel from living quarters to the stadium = 100% security .
If you are attacked while in the Hotel or when in transit to and fro to the airport, no tunnel so you are on your own to meet the 72 houris.

Will support US, Nato or Indian intervention: Brahamdagh Bugti

71 will come in 2021
QUETTA: Supporting the US congressional bill on Balochistan, Baloch Republican Party’s self-exiled chief Brahamdagh“ Bugti has welcomed all foreign intervention in the province whether it is by the US, Nato or India.America must intervene in Balochistan and stop the ethnic cleansing of Baloch people,” said Brahamdagh, 30, as reporters listened with rapt attention to his telephonic address on Wednesday at the Quetta Press Club. “We know that foreign countries have their personal interest but we must think of our greater interest.”A resolution was introduced on February 17 by Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and co-sponsored by two other congressmen in the US House of Representatives, calling upon Pakistan to recognise the Baloch people’s right to self determination. The bill has outraged Pakistan and leaders and lawmakers have called it against the country’s sovereignty and an unwelcome intervention by the US.“Baloch women, political leaders, activists, students, writers, poets, professors and intellectuals are being subjected to enforced disappearances and undergoing torture for years. Their mutilated bodies turn up daily. Under such circumstances, we will welcome the support of foreign countries,” he said. “We have been accused of getting support from India but the Baloch movement does not have any foreign support. However, we will welcome any support for independence.”Balochistan, Pakistan’s least developed but largest province by area, has undergone a separatist insurgency since the country’s inception. The insurgency escalated into rampant violence after the 2006 murder of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, the grandfather of Brahamdagh Bugti.
“The American resolution and committee formed for Balochistan is not against the sovereignty of Pakistan. Every country has the right to interfere or intervene [in another’s affairs] if there are state-sponsored human rights violations,” he said.‘They are protecting Punjab’s sovereignty’
Sceptical of mainstream politicians’ and media attention to Balochistan’s affairs, Brahamdagh said the change of heart was rooted in apprehensions over Punjab’s sovereignty. “Pakistani politicians like Nawaz Sharif are now visiting Balochistan and inquiring about the plight of Baloch people. There are discussions and talks on TV channels and print media in recent days about Balochistan. Because they are now worried about the sovereignty of Punjab and [want] to protect Punjab’s interest.”
If they were sincere, he said, they should have raised the issue of enforced disappearances, mutilated bodies of Baloch youth and leaders earlier.Reiterating his stance that there is violation of human rights in Balochistan by security forces and agencies, Brahamdagh said that Army Chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani had said that there was no military operation in the province and must stop denying the truth now.Brahamdagh pointed out that if the lawmakers believe that the situation in Dera Bugti, Kohlu and adjoining areas is normal, they should allow free access to the region for journalists, international humanitarian organisations and citizens.
When asked about an all-parties conference that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had announced over the crisis in Balochistan, Brahamdagh said that Baloch nationalist leaders will not join negotiations. “One the one hand, they are calling an APC while on the other, they are brutally killing Baloch people and throwing their bullet-riddled, mutilated bodies,” he said.Brahamdagh called on Balochistan Governor Zulfiqar Magsi and Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani to also join the Baloch movement, leaving behind their “temporary” and “personal” interest as they will not achieve anything but humiliation from supporting the Pakistani government. “If they do not want to join the movement, they should resign from office and sit quietly because the Baloch movement is nearing its destination. Efforts are being made to unify the rank of Baloch leaders.”When asked about the recent killing of his sister and niece in Karachi, Brahamdagh said that such brutalities will not compel him to withdraw or surrender from the struggle. He also lashed out at the ultra-conservative Difa-e-Pakistan Council, which has announced a public gathering on February 27 in solidarity with the Baloch people. “Where were they when Baloch women, children and youth were being picked up and brutally killed by security forces? There is no influence of Jihadi elements in Balochistan. These religious parties are backed by security agencies,” he said.

Pakistan High Commissioner to visit Kolkata - Suvojit Bagchi, The Hindu
The Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit will be visiting Kolkata between March 17 and 19 to attend a series of conferences and meetings, including a one-on-one with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, hosted by a city-based institute of regional studies and a chamber of business and industry. This will be the second visit of a Pakistan High Commissioner to Kolkata in recent years. {I know that the Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad does visit other provinces and addresses chambers of industries and trade. Does he meet with the CMs of these provinces?}

While both the High Commissioner’s office and the State Government have not given details of the visit, the city-based General Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), has confirmed that Mr. Basit will be in the city on March 18. “The High Commissioner will be in the city to participate in a conference on India-Pakistan trade,” said Subhasis Roy, Assistant Director, of the chamber.

MCCI will be hosting the High Commissioner’s interaction with the industry captains, while a preeminent institute of regional studies, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of South Asian Studies (MAKAISAS) will be hosting an evening session with policy think-tanks of eastern India. The High Commissioner has several other engagements in the city during his three-day stay. Besides meeting the Chief Minister, industry captains and policy framers, Mr. Basit is expected to meet the city’s journalists at “an informal session”, official sources confirmed to The Hindu .Pakistan’s former High Commissioner to India, Salman Bashir visited Kolkata in 2013 and handed over an invite to the Chief Minister. Ms. Banerjee later confirmed in the social media that she was invited by the Prime Minister of Pakistan “to visit the country at a convenient time.” Soon after, a delegation of journalists from Kolkata visited Pakistan.

The successive events sparked a minor debate in the country’s security establishment. Many of the officials were apprehensive of the outcome of Mr. Bashir’s December 2013 visit.

However, MAKAISAS refuses to accept that Mr. Basit’s visit to the ‘City of Joy’ may spark fresh debate.

“While I understand that the [MAKAISAS] interactions are taking place after his [High Commissioner’s] meeting with a key Hurriyat leader, the fact is Mr. Basit is attending an open session,” says the Chairman of MAKAISAS. “In an open session, both the think tanks and the media can ask questions, while the High Commissioner can clarify his position on several issues, without brushing anything under the carpet… such brainstorming can generate new ideas, may produce out-of-box solutions to many problems between the two countries {What an a$$hole of logic. Does it call itself an institution for South Asian studies?} ,” he said.

Why tunnel? Just put up tents on the ground for living quarters. Have only one ground for the whole series. Once the series is over, helicopter ride from the ground to the airport. No chance of vacuum bulb explosions during transit.

Pakis think that if they can launch a satellite with same parameters as Indians did in exactly same conditions and make a paki rower land on Mars just by copying parameters, all paki problems will be solved once pakis make a green rower land next to Indian rower. Then pakis can claim equal==equal only.

:) Can't imagine what a rower on top on another will achieve but such is paki style, can't even deny this! It is like throwing terrorists across the border after collecting generations of terrorists and then hallucinating that all will be well. Don't know which is more absurd, but in land of pure if the latter can make sense, then the former is mostly scientific.
