^^ Nepalis are not complaining.

But the media did take this one statement out of context. Everybody else is complaining.

CNN says US leads, Israel says they lead, China says they are doing thevmost, turkey wants half of a person dug out by Germans. UAE and Qatar types, heck even bakistan is gloating over 4 plane full of beef. Your guess is as good as mine as to why this is the case.

The UN is not far behind in the credit department. And everyone and his uncle has a donation appeal. The social media is down to poo-slinging as of yesterday.

Why might this be the case? This is a long fight, and India isnt stealing any of the aid money. No one has the people resources. China will encroach when the reconstruction starts. You cant prevent that. But Israel?

Is there any RSS affiliated NGO that I can donate online to for Nepal's earthquake relief? Or RSS itself though I couldn't find anything on its website.

India leads, gets relief within a few hours and then after relief efforts get established, the vultures of the West gather and pontificate as if they did all the hard work! It is the job of the Indian embassies worldwide to get press reports accurately reporting the relief efforts. The head of the Indian team should be giving out interviews to the intl. press. India's propaganda minister should also be active in India with a meeting of the press highlighting India's efforts, etc.

This highlights the stark fact that India's propaganda machine is woefully outdated and needs a slick RT style "world service",like the BBC,Al Jazeera, etc.,in English.Doordarshan is incapable of meeting the challenge. This should be an independent service focusing on world affairs and the Indian viewpoint, with intelligent foreign reporters, from sophisticated anchors and a team of experts from various nations, not necessarily Indian. The service should be aimed at a global audience and not catering to just the nostalgic NRI crowd. Interspersed within the daily global news, esp. on weekends should be highlights from the Indian cultural scene and regional cultural highlights. Art,architecture, music, dance, food, spiritualism, etc.,celebrated, with an accent on educating firangs and drawing in tourists to India.

During the Nepal Earthquakes and its aftermath, the Indian Govt, the Indian Armed Forces rushed to help.. Other neighbors including China, Pakistan and other countries have jumped in to help. There is a massive rescue operation that is currently going on in Nepal.

But what I have started noticing is the PR campaign by christian evangelicals organizations starting their spin…

There are unwritten, unpublicized rule, continuation of chinese encroachment, and a more than succesfull evangelical attack. Bakistan types are a joke right now. But the others have dug their heels in.

A detailed map of all over, including where India is not permitted to go to help is needed for nepal.

And this nepal govt is not out and out maoist. The mao-mao will start mouthing/protesting in the south/south west any minute. Note the lack of mao-mao news or information re north or north east when their roads are open too. The token red visitors to KTM are a side show. The others are probably streaming in unwatched up north and you cant even go look over them from ground or air.

So all the whining from the Nepal govt officials regarding 'sensitive border areas' being a no-go for relief operations by the Indian Army is official confirmation that map of Nepal is altered on the ground with significant Chinese presence.

India may as well give up, given the manner in which it is responding to china, both on the ground and policywise (as in supporting one-china policy while china parks itself in PoK and AP and anywhere else it pleases).

How is Nepal divided -- "communist east and north-east" and "democratic west and south west"? Where is the boundary of the no-go line? Who is going there for relief and who is not allowed in? Who is policing this at this dire time?

edit - why haven't we heard of this before? Why is this not neuj?

This might also be the reason for the crackdown on Tibetans in Nepal. Chinese moved into Nepal proper and has the Nepali government by their gonads. The squealing is all due to this. If GoI has the balls then they should deliver aid in all areas of Nepal and challenge the position of both Nepali government and the Chinese. Time to call their bluff on national security interests alone. Should be done before the upcoming yatra to Peking.

Why no news before ? Maybe everyone knows like the CoK and Aksai chin case, but everybody pretends to not know anything.

The other pointer is Chinese interests to tunnel under Mt Everest to Nepal. Maybe all those areas are under their control already, except the south summit of Mt Everest which mountaineers access.

The chinese practically own Nepal. Including Gorkha.

separate assessment:

Its a wonder India was even able to land. I wonder also, how many chinese "workers" died in various caves and ravines that no one will ever know about.

edit - this pretense and coverup business -- whether in Kashmir, AP, sikkim, HP, uttarakhan or Nepal has to end. There is no active war with china. The border situation has to be public. Or will it take an earthquake for things to make themselves visible?

In the context of Nepal, human trafficking is always an issue. Quake has only amplified it and perhaps made easier to find humans in distress to be trafficked. Indian police , esp in border states, needs to be doubly vigilant and alert to check on this.....

The Nepal government is playing poor politics at a time of crisis. The speed with which India and Indian organizations have moved is impressive. The fraternity of its people with the people of Nepal is easily recognized. India must be given unhindered access to Nepal's civil society with which it has deep cultural ties going back 1000s of years.

Delays that let agreements with other countries (e.g. US) be put in place for issues India already has or readily solves (evacuation of US citizens), restricting access (e.g. to "northern areas") implying Nepal is ceding sovereignty to china, among other shocking realities coming to the surface, suggests clearly that Nepal's governance has crumbled and the nation is "up for grabs." India cannot allow that to happen to Nepalese civil society even if Nepal govt.'s only strategy is to play slut to every superpower looking for a Kodak moment, or worse.

I request all the support be provided to #NSA who thankfully is now on the ground. I hope he can work to ensure correct consideration by Nepal govt. of every assistance offered by India expeditiously, without procrastination or pretense. US ATC is not acceptable. I think GoI must work directly to the benefit of Nepal's people who are tired of their govt's inaction and apparent strategic pusillanimity.

I am so grateful that Modi-ji and Doval-ji are at help of our strategic affairs. The signs are bad all around but this is the best team we could have asked for.

The natural, instantaneous and massive response of GoI and Indian public to the Nepal tragedy and the efficiency with which our relief efforts have been co-ordinated in both Yemen and Nepal have made the world sit up and take notice. This will also be noticed by SAARC countries that while China may be bigger economically, in terms of geographic proximity to regions where power is centered, and in terms of people to people contacts, India far surpasses China. Any SAARC country (Except Pukistan) would need to rely much more heavily on Indian help than that of any other country if they are stuck with a crippling disaster or other such emergencies.

Would love to see news like the below one (PLA facing flak over Swift evacuation by Indian military) in International media:

I worked with a lot of israelis.

goa and nepal are very important for them. Youngsters, mostly after their compulsory military service and tough life for some years come to goa and nepal to cool off and relax. In goa, I know for sure that there are many israeli only hotels that accommodate no one else but the israelis. They have very high security, kosher israeli food and necessities and all staff speak hebrew. It is a similar situation in nepal as similar arrangements exist there. That's how the govt of israel knew right down to the last number how many of their citizens were in nepal and their precise whereabouts. Out of 2000 israelis in nepal, only one was missing as of a few days ago. they may even have been found by now.

That's also why the israeli army was there so quickly in Nepal because most of the israelis in nepal are ex army soldiers who are still just fairly young kids.

These kids take a break for a few years before they again get back to the daily grind of life.

chetak,

As you noted, in a country with conscription/draft everybody is a soldier or ex-soldier. Thats not it.

Then there is the whole surrogate thing. Thats not it, either.

These things do not sufficiently explain israeli involvement or urge to proclaim world leadership annoying india. And this is meant as a complaint to Mr Shimon Adler, among others, who have left a void here, in not being able to provide a native perspective on what drives the urge to claim a leadership role. So shimon, if you still read and are being quiet, and get to this thread by chance -- its been a long time. Make up a new identity and lets be having some input again.

Even Indian publications are raising questions about India's assistance to Nepal,

http://www.outlookindia.com/article/goo ... ndu/294222
India would expect to have earned goodwill and trust with its massive relief and rescue efforts. Only the future will tell if an overzealous bureaucracy has made it counterproductive.
If the Indian govt. sat this out, the same guy Uttam Sengupta that wrote this article will be writing about how Indian bureaucracy/govt. dropped the ball and did not assist Nepal to the fullest extent.

This is less about goodwill and trust of the Nepalis, which is clearly of little value, when the media and the govt. and everyone else that is pro-maoist has nothing good to write about India or its influence, mostly on cue from competing powers (china) that have quitely increased their profile and influence in Nepal in the past few years. As this guy writes:
Royalists, democrats and Maoists in Nepal have all harboured and even nurtured suspicion about India’s ‘designs’ for a long while. The fractured polity was responsible for Prime Minister Modi’s proposed visit to Janakpur last year being cancelled. The fear of ‘Sikkimisation’ of Nepal by India, real or not, makes Indo-Nepalese relations delicate at the best of times despite religious and cultural bonds. Curiously, China suffers from no such baggage.

Tuvaluan saar, agreed. This goodwill stuff is nonsense at the end of the day. Whose goodwill are we talking about? Will it be evenly felt across the affected country? Can the media find someone who does not have goodwill and report that as a 'lack thereof..' problem? Absolutely. All it takes is one person complaining the tea made from solar stove given by <insert source> is not good enough because he didn't have sugar, and the lack of goodwill story will become factually true. Media will complain either way, the sad part is its our own media, not the BBC types.

Anyway, if Nepal has a problem with aid, they can publicly tell us to leave, and we will. Till then, no point worrying about what Nepal supposedly thinks and focus on getting things back on track.

Oh, the alternative to India is China, and seeing the problems Nepal has had resisting the Maoist nonsense shows it is not a walkover for the Chinese either. Plus those Gorkhas in the IA (current and retiring) will have something to say about the Chinese as well.
