Indian paralysed after US cops' brutality testifies against officer
September 03, 2015 14:51 IST

An Indian man, left partially paralysed when he was slammed to the ground by an American police officer, recounted his ordeal as he took the witness stand in a US court.

Wheelchair-bound Sureshbhai Patel, 58, told the district court in Huntsville that he had been out for a morning walk in the neighbourhood when police approached. He was helped to the stand by a translator, an ABC-affiliated television station reported.

Opening arguments began on Wednesday in the trial for Madison police officer Eric Parker who is accused of using excessive force on an elderly man.

Patel said he doesn't speak English and couldn't understand the orders police gave him that day.

He said he tried to tell them where his house was. Then, one officer grabbed his hands and put them behind his back. Another other checked his pockets. He did not try to jerk away and then an officer threw him to ground.

His legs became numb and his nose started bleeding. They tried to lift him up, but he couldn't because his legs were numb. He would later undergo surgery to have a plate inserted in his neck.

Patel told the prosecutor he never had trouble with police before, either in the United States, or in India. He said because of his injury, he cannot care for his grandson, which is why he came to US.

He was then cross-examined by defence attorney Robert Tuten.

"On your second visit to the United States to see your son in Huntsville, did you go to the doctor for your leg?" Tuten asked.

Patel said he did, because he was bitten by a dog in India. He said he did not learn of a pre-existing spinal condition during that visit.

Tuten then asked if he reached into his pockets when talking to the officers, or try to walk away from them. Patel replied "no" to both questions.

When asked if he had his passport with him, Patel said he didn't think about it.

Parker, who was subsequently fired by the Madison Police Department, faces up to 10 years in prison on the federal charge if convicted. He also faces a misdemeanour assault charge in LimestoneCounty, but that case has been put on hold pending the outcome of the federal trial.

The incident occurred on the morning of February 6.

A day before, Patel had arrived in the US to assist his son and daughter-in-law in caring for their 17-month-old child who suffered a developmental delay after a premature birth.

The US government had expressed condolences to Patel's family but refrained to comment on any diplomatic discussion with India which has taken up the issue with it.

The governor of the US state of Alabama had apologised for the "unfortunate" use of excessive force by police that left him partially paralysed.

Toddler Fight Club: New Jersey day-care centre accused of organising fights inspired by Brad Pitt film

September 4, 2015

Two employees of a day-care centre in New Jersey have been charged with child abuse after it emerged they were organising a toddler fight club inspired by the 1999 Brad Pitt film and sharing the bouts on snap chat.

However someone clearly broke the first and second rules of Fight Club when parents and staff were alerted to the illegal activity.

Classroom teacher Chanese White, 28, and assistant Erica Kenny, 22 face child abuse charges after they allegedly encouraged 12 children aged between four and six years old to beat each other up. Kenny also faces a lesser charge of child abuse after she referenced Fight Club in one of the videos of the matches.

People Magazine reported the pair had been suspended immediately from the Lightbridge Academy where they worked in Cranford after the fight club was discovered taking place in the school's playground.

The head of the centre Guy Falzarano was quoted by the magazine as saying: "Somebody had reported this. We assume it was one of our employees, but we don't know. I'm appalled by it. The rest of the staff is appalled by it."

Three children at the academy have since left over the incident. Authorities in New Jersey were alerted to the alleged abuse within 24 hours of the initial report.

The director at Lightbridge has resigned following the controversy and the day-care centre has apologised. In addition to cameras in classrooms which allow parents to check up on their children, further cameras will be set up in the playground where the fights were held.

Kenny and White are due to appear in court today (4 September) to enter pleas. No serious injuries to children involved in the fights at the day-care centre were reported.

If the following rules were not followed, it was not a real fight club. Total scam run by toddlers and some mental midgets is what I am thinking. Hollywood inspires much of reality in America, clearly. What a country.
1st RULE: You do not talk about FIGHT CLUB.

2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about FIGHT CLUB.

3rd RULE: If someone says "stop" or goes limp, taps out the fight is over.

4th RULE: Only two guys to a fight.

5th RULE: One fight at a time.

6th RULE: No shirts, no shoes.

7th RULE: Fights will go on as long as they have to.

8th RULE: If this is your first night at FIGHT CLUB, you HAVE to fight.

At West Point, Annual Pillow Fight Becomes Weaponized

For generations, freshmen cadets at the United States Military Academy have marked the end of a grueling summer of training with a huge nighttime pillow fight that is billed as a harmless way to blow off steam and build class spirit.

But this year the fight on the West Point, N.Y., campus turned bloody as some cadets swung pillowcases packed with hard objects, thought to be helmets, that split lips, broke at least one bone, dislocated shoulders and knocked cadets unconscious. The brawl at the publicly funded academy, where many of the Army’s top leaders are trained, left 30 cadets injured, including 24 with concussions, according to West Point.

In interviews, cadets who asked that their names not be used for fear of repercussions in West Point’s strictly controlled culture, said the fight had left one cadet with a broken leg and dislocated shoulders in others. One cadet was knocked unconscious and taken away in an ambulance and had not returned to school, they said. But a spokesman for the academy, Lt. Col. Christopher Kasker, said all cadets had returned to duty.

...

Photos posted later on Twitter show plebes, as freshmen are called, with bloody faces and bloody pillows, and at least one person being loaded into an ambulance.

“My plebe was knocked unconscious and immediately began fighting when he came to,” an unnamed upperclassman, who was apparently observing from the sidelines, wrote on the social media forum Yik Yak. “I was so proud I could cry.” :rotfl:

As the battle continued, cadets clustered around at least two classmates who had fallen, apparently unable to get up. Others stumbled to a medical area set up beside the fracas.

“4 concussions, 1 broken leg, 2 broken arms, 1 dislocated shoulder, and several broken ribs. That’s one hell of a pillow fight. #USMA19,” one freshman posted on Twitter, echoing many who seemed to see the injuries as a point of pride.

...

Similar violence has occurred at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs during ceremonial warfare traditions in recent years.

During the first winter storm of the year, Air Force freshmen try to throw their cadet leaders into the snow. But in 2012 the snowball fight turned into a brawl, and 27 cadets were treated for concussions, cuts, broken bones and a bite wound.

Police: Boy, 7, dead, 3 hurt after North Carolina shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Charlotte police officers are being called back in from days off and vacations after five people have been killed and five others hurt in shootings during a violent Labor Day holiday weekend in North Carolina's largest city.

The dead include a 7-year-old boy killed during a birthday party around 9 p.m. Saturday in a front yard in southwest Charlotte. Another child and two other adults were wounded, but their injuries were not life threatening, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Deputy Chief Jeff Estes said.

...

While officers investigated the boy's killing, authorities said they heard shots nearby about three hours later and found a woman dead and a man wounded from what appeared to be a drive-by shooting.

Also over the holiday weekend, a man was found dead from gunshot wounds in east Charlotte on Sunday morning, and police found a man shot to death Saturday morning in northwest Charlotte after a second man was dropped off at the hospital where he died from gunshot wounds.

And even more violence! This one is really disgusting.

Black Man Brutalized by Security Guard at Whole Foods for Trying to Buy Food

A black man was beaten to a bloody pulp by a security guard at an Oakland Whole Foods Thursday night after an attempt to purchase groceries led to an argument.

An eye witness to the attack, Zoe Marks, on visit from Edinburgh, Scotland where she lectures at the University of Edinburgh, gave an eyewitness account of the assault on her Facebook, posting graphic images of the victim. She told the Oakland Tribune that she saw the argument between the cashier and the victim as he was trying to use an EBT card (a food stamp card that works like a debit card), but said that the victim wasn’t “shouting,” nor was her “violent or disruptive.” In fact, Marks said the man wasn’t a threat to anyone and that she felt “safe” until the armed security guard came and “attacked him.”

In a Facebook status Marks described the “violent assault,” saying the guard “slammed” the victim against “concrete pillars.” He also allegedly put the man in a chokehold and “suffocated” him before throwing him on the ground unconscious. Then the guard reportedly locked the man out of the store despite the fact that he was unconscious.

She said none of the employees called the paramedics, instead they called for backup.

TSA Agents Allegedly Steal $7,000 Watch, Grope Attractive Passengers

It's another black eye week for the Transportation Security Administration, as a New York-based agent was busted for stealing a diamond-encrusted watch and a newly released video showed a Denver agent groping a passenger.

TSA screener Margo Louree-Grant, 41, was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly stole a $7,000 luxury watch left behind by a passenger at John F. Kennedy International Airport, the New York Daily News reported.

Port Authority police said she snatched the watch after a passenger left it in a screening bin. She reportedly took it to a bathroom, but became nervous when she saw other TSA agents searching for it and so she destroyed it. Louree-Grant was charged with grand larceny and official misconduct.

Meanwhile, newly released footage from a Feb. 9 incident at Denver International Airport shows agent Ty Spicha, 27, fondling male passengers, officials told CBS.

Spicha colluded with a fellow agent, Yasmeen Shafi, 22, who manipulated scanning machines so that male travelers who Spicha found attractive would be identified as female. The scanner would then pick up abnormalities in the passenger's genital region, giving Spicha justification to pat them down.

The stolen watch belonged to an Indian or PIO.

TSA agent at JFK Airport busted for stealing passenger’s $7K watch, then destroys to avoid getting caught: authorities

A sticky-fingered Kennedy Airport TSA agent has been busted for stealing a passenger's $7,000 watch — and then destroying it in an attempt to avoid getting caught, authorities said Friday.

Tranportation Security Administration screener Margo Louree-Grant was caught on security camera swiping the men’s luxury watch about 3 p.m. Aug. 26.

The watch, completely covered in white diamonds, had been placed in a plastic bin for screening by passenger Bindoo Ahluwalia.

When Ahluwalia walked away without the watch after passing through security at Terminal 7, Louree-Grant snatched it and took it to a bathroom, prosecutors said.

OTOH, trump will be the best thing for hilary. his approval ratings may be high with republicans and that can net him the nomination. but his disapproval is so high among gen pop, that it will be a walk over for hilary/dem nominee.

early polls are meaningless as majority is not tuned in and as mentioned earlier, polls can be easily rigged by time of call and mode of call and how questions are framed.

Between Trump and Hillary, I can't figure out who will be worse for India. Republicans are generally pro-business and used to be easy on immigration. But they have turned anti-immigration lately. Plus their support for Christianity and proselytization continues. With Hillary, less said the better. Her Pak loving, anti-India, anti-Modi credentials are pretty bare. All in all, I think a conservative Republican (even Trump) would be better than Hillary as far as India is concerned.

If we strictly go by what Trump is claiming he is anti illegal immigration. So are the rank and file republicans. At least that is their claim. One thing is certain - if one contributes to the economy and right wing liberal most republicans accept one without any reservations - no pun intended. That is not the case with dems. They are secular hypocrites who push Columbia core curriculum, extremely euro centric, ologists for Islam and the left. For them it is all politics. But then it is all politics for both parties.

tough brother , but sons will generally defend their moms to the end. I would not blame him esp as the intruder was ski-masked and things were fluid...only very highly trained operators can make rational decisions and de-escalate in such tense situation...rest of us will panic or go by animal instinct. we have seen so many instances of the amirkhan police themselves become excited and nervous and shoot where no shooting was really needed.

NY daily news:

Retired black tennis star James Blake, in an NYPD double-fault, was slammed to a Manhattan sidewalk and handcuffed by a white cop in a brutal case of mistaken identity.

The 35-year-old Blake, once ranked No. 4 in the world, suffered a cut to his left elbow and bruises to his left leg as five cops eventually held him for 15 minutes Wednesday outside the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

“It was definitely scary and definitely crazy,” Blake told the Daily News. “In my mind there’s probably a race factor involved, but no matter what there’s no reason for anybody to do that to anybody.”

Blake said none of the white cops identified themselves, including the officer who charged straight at the Harvard-educated athlete and bounced him off the E. 42nd St. concrete around noon.

“Don’t say a word,” snapped the officer, who Blake said was not wearing a badge.

Blake — whose right eye appeared red hours later at the Midtown hotel — was only turned loose when a former cop recognized the man in cuffs and alerted the arresting officers, a police source said.

“That is James Blake, the tennis player,” the NYPD retiree told them.

The first cop involved never apologized to Blake for the physical thumping or the subsequent cuffing, the ex-player recounted.

Trump has avoided making specific anti Indian comments. Even in his anti outsourcing speeches, he specifically referred to China not India. His immigration rhetoric is mainly directed at Mexican immigrants. Interestingly enough Jeb Bush came out in the defense of Mexican immigrants and stated that it was Chinese and other Asian immigrants that were problem not Mexicans.

Donald Trump mocked the physical appearance of fellow Republican U.S. presidential candidate Carly Fiorina in remarks published on Wednesday, saying: "Look at that face. Would anyone vote for that?"

The comments by the billionaire real estate developer published in an article on the website of Rolling Stone magazine were aimed at the only woman in the large field of Republicans vying for their party's 2016 presidential nomination.

The magazine reported that Trump, leading in the polls among the Republican contenders, made the remarks while watching Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard Co chief executive, on television.

"Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?" Trump is quoted as saying. "I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not s'posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?"

i realized something...with control of all root DNS servers, the US can actually redirect a query for any website of its choosing to a unofficial relay agent of sorts that can capture all the authentication data (for decryption) and then pass it on to the real server..so the casual end user would never know of this in-transit tapping.

jihadis busy on 'death to america' internet crusades via their hangout websites are probably having all their web traffic captured in this way and backtraced to their location via source IP addr mapper.

Jihawg Ammo: Pork-laced Bullets Designed To Send Muslims Straight ‘To Hell'

The bullets are coated in pork-infused paint, which the company states makes the ammo “haram,” or unclean, and therefore will keep a Muslim who’s shot with one of the bullets from entering paradise.

“With Jihawg Ammo, you don’t just kill an Islamist terrorist, you also send him to hell. That should give would-be martyrs something to think about before they launch an attack. If it ever becomes necessary to defend yourself and those around you our ammo works on two levels,” the company said in a press release earlier this month.

Not sure if there is a need of a relay for that. A router can have a subprogram - at appropriate tier of IP stack - to copy all packets that make up one message - and then demultiplex to obtain sequence of details. Each packet has enough information if only source is needed and no more process is needed.

this also implies all the eqpt sold into india has these backdoors which gotus is probably using as needed.
