RUAF must be on a tight timetable to finish off the first 3 layers of targets on their list b4 the GOAT starts getting too itchy.

I cannot believe that NATO would start shooting at the RUAF, but then I could not believe back in 2003 that Dubya would be stupid enough to actually invade Eyerak over bogus "WMD". In fact I told someone 2 weeks ahead of the invasion that it was all just bluff, no way anyone could be THAT stupid.

BO may see a big macho benefit in shooting down a few Su-24s, just like Ronald Reagan did. Bottom line: RUAF can bomb whomever Assad says OK to bomb, that is the only UN-recognized authority in Syria.

Deepening Russian Involvement in Iraq Complicates U.S. Airstrikes on Islamic State
An Iraqi defense ministry spokesman said Monday that his country would be open to Russian intelligence gathering in Iraqi airspace.

The comments came a day after Iraq said it had reached an intelligence-sharing agreement with Russia, the Syrian regime and Iran.

“If Russia needs to participate in aircraft reconnaissance flights, it can make a formal request to the Iraqi government and there will be no objection in my opinion,” said the spokesman, Brig. Gen. Tahseen Ibrahim.

The developments of the past few days signaled a deepening military role for Moscow in Iraq in the midst of a Russian military building in neighboring Syria to prop up President Bashar al-Assad.

Russian officials say “specialists” are on the ground in Syria to help train and equip the president’s forces.

Iraq PM says ok for Russia to strike ISIS in Iraq if agreement is reached

Iraq’s top Shiite cleric says fight against Islamic State should be expanded
Iraq’s top Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani said on Friday.

"It is important to unite efforts for countering IS and expand the scale of the fight against this group," he stressed. "The fight against Islamic State is the destiny of all Iraqis. However, it is not only their fight. The whole world should fight against this evil because terrorists are against humanity, against culture and morals," al-Sistani said.

Al-Sistani’s speech comes a day after Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s statement that Russia can expand its airstrikes to Iraq if Moscow and Baghdad reach a relevant agreement. "This is possible. If such a proposal is made to us, we will consider it, and I will welcome it," al-Abadi told France 24 TV channel.

Syrian Kurds want Assad to stay.

Putin also seems to acknowledge the role of Kurds in the fight against ISIS.

Now if only Iran, Iraq and Syria openly support the formation of Kurdistan.

there's going to be problems, we may have to install a no fly zone over certain areas. unfortunate, but may be necessary. Obama is not an aggressive guy but his hand may be forced. we'll have to wait and see. the US certainly has the capability to enforce this.

deconflicting should be simple unless people go out looking for a fight. the american coalition is launching a bare 10 strikes a day on ISIS in iraq mostly and may 1-2 in raqqa. recon is by drones and satellites. france might on some days send a couple of rafales. nobody else is going anything - KSA and UAE are busy bombing yemen. the skies are not crowded. I believe commercial airlanes have long diverted north or south to avoid syria and caliphate overflying. there was a line in the proposed AI delhi/blr-SFO new flight it would add some time due to need to divert away from iraq and syria. israel has already scurried to make sure they and russians have a phone line.

the crowded skies thing is a CNN/NYT scare tactics. there are more crowded skies over our cities daily. syrian civil aviation must be long at a standstill - I doubt any damascus-raqqa flight operates!

the american trained cia funded moderate terrorists are officially 75 only in syria, maybe more in training inside turkey. of these 75, many might already have defected or joined the refugee train into europe. so in effect they dont really have any footprint on the ground.

We fly air cover also as well as other specialty aircraft. It's only going to get more dangerous.

According to latest news reports Obama is still reticent however, despite pressure from other US politicians.

^^ He is not at the stature of Regan to be a visionary on FP and nor does he have a good advisor like Kissenger who can just guide him even if he is not politically astute on FP matters , His red-lines are epic by now and what insider says he has a BIG EGO issue.

When you look at his team like Kerry ,Susan Rice , Thomas , Biden you know this guys wont do well beyond the Election Hope thinge , the guy got elected coz the other guy like Bush and MCaine were perceived far worse.

Trump seems to be the only better guy out there but the Feminist is not far behind either , I think if Hillary gets elected her FP would simply get more worse.

CAP is a normal thing in AirOperation , If for some reason the pilot has to eject either due to engine flame out or even ack ack hit , the CAP would direct the CSAR mission more effeciently to the downed crew , There is also a CSAR flying near by.

Helps to keep a bird eye view of airspace and ground ( the SM uses the same BARS-M )

Many people can stand for elections in USA but ultimately to win the nomination you need to toe the deep state line.

So I think Trump will just dance before public to show them that there is a functional democracy, but he will not get nomination. Nomination will go to some mental case like Fiorina, Sanders, Jeb Bush or someone. If he gets then I would be surprised. In that case prepare for last moment sleaze attack against Trump.

US president's don't make US foreign policy. There are older hands at work in that department. How can johnny come lately who has just 5 year term make contacts with entire military-industrial establishment and force their hand. I don't think any US president has been able to get his way and survived to tell the tale. Kennedy tried. Lincoln tried.

US `installs`no fly zones over states that have no air force. Say Libya or Iraq. US doesnt fight where the russkies have their planes up. It will quickly lead to a wider conflict and your internet connectivity might suffer as collateral damage.

Rhetoric and Bluster apart , Obama said yesterday when asked about NFZ option he said there was no Easy , Low Cost answer to stop war.

IF they make a NFZ then most likely the ISIL folks and Al-Nusra others will just hide there and will come out when times are better.

Realistically both Iran, Russia , US and GCC have to come to common meeting point and diplomatic solution to end the crisis.

Russian air strikes create panic among terrorists in Syria - General Staff
Russian combat aircraft have carried out over 60 sorties bombing 50 facilities of the Islamic State terrorist organisation in Syria, Col Gen Andrey Kartapolov of the General Staff told reporters on Saturday.

"The aircraft have been taking off from the Hmeimim air base, targeting the whole Syria," Gen Kartapolov said at the National Defence Control Centre. "In the past three days we have managed to disrupt the terrorists’ infrastructure and to substantially degrade their combat capabilities."

"Intelligence reports say that militants are leaving the areas under their control," he said.

"There is panic and desertion among their ranks," the general said. "Nearly 600 mercenaries have abandoned their positions and are making attempts to get out to Europe."

US notifies Russia just terrorists are in area of Russian air strikes in Syria
MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. The United States has notified Russia’s Defence Ministry that nobody but terrorists were in the area targeted by Russian aviation, Col-Gen Andrey Kartapolov of the Russian General Staff has told reporters.

"The U.S. has notified us during contacts that there was no-one but terrorists in that region," Kartapolov said at the National Defence Control Centre (NDCC) noting Russia had announced about the start of air strikes in advance.

"The U.S. military attach· to Iraq was the first to be informed by our representative in Baghdad Gen Kuralenko on Wednesday morning," he said adding that the information had been delivered to the U.S. side through diplomatic channels as well.

During these contacts we recommended that all the instructors and advisors should leave the region alongside valuable specialists who had been trained for the U.S. taxpayers’ money. We also recommended that all flying vehicles and aircraft should cancel their flights in the area of the operation of Russian combat planes," the general said.

what legitimate work does US instructors and advisors have in that cesspool of vipers with 300 jihadi offshoot fronts and the main ISIS?

looks like Rus is well aware of what these non-ISIS/good-taliban fronts were being used for and some blunt talking took place.

Singha , Every one is aware of US and GCC support to ISIS , They dont just get well armed and trained and funded like Manna falling from Heaven.
Its not just like that 70-80 well trained US Good Terrorist end up with the Bad One Post training , There is a plan and its according to it. Remember large US arms dropped to Kurds falling in ISIS area and bloops its a mistake.

But no one has the courage to tell US or GCC they should stop that , All one needs is courage to Speak the Truth

ISIS allegedly has around 80,000 men on the payroll now. if you include camp followers and women, the number could be 150,000.
I am not sure how they continue to trade in oil and earn money on a operating cash flow basis...since every surrounding country officially does not want to have ties with them.

Obama: Russia heading for 'quagmire' in Syria
In the absence of that, he warned that Russia's air campaign against Syria would only lead to further bloodshed for the war-torn country and bog down Moscow.

Russia, he predicted during a White House press conference, would get stuck in a "quagmire," adding, "It just won't work, and they're going to stay there for a while."

Saying Syria's civil war doesn't directly involve the United States -- but instead pits Assad's forces against rebel groups -- Obama admitted elements of his strategy had failed. A plan to train and equip opposition forces, which resulted in only a handful of trainees, "did not work the way it was supposed to," Obama said.

Maybe an open secret to you and me, but certainly not to US and British audiences. Even mainland Europeans still seem very supportive of US policy on Syria and uncritical of US\western designs for the region. I would venture most Indian audiences are being fooled as well.

We're all informed and cynical on BR, but from what I can tell even most educated Indians believe whatever our western-controlled media reports. Just like American audiences.
