Is Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) pushing displaced Myanmar Muslim militants into the Kashmir Valley?

Security agencies are grappling with the identities of two JeM militants killed on Sunday at Harriparigam, a village in Awantipora, 30 km south of Srinagar. One of them was identified as Chota Burmi. Now, it is emerging that his real name is Abdul Rehman-al-Arkani, a possible member of the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami Arakan, a militant group operating in Myanmar.

After the encounter on Sunday, the security agencies identified them as foreign militants Adil Pathan and Chota Burmi, active in south Kashmir for over two years to revive the JeM. However, a diary found at the site — the contents of which were exclusively accessed by The Hindu — leaves their identities inconclusive.

Sources said investigations revealed that Pathan was from Rawlakot in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Burmi from Multan in Pakistan. “We are still investigating if Burmi was from Multan,” an investigator said.

Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami and Maulana Masood Azhar’s JeM enjoy close ties in Pakistan. Islami was founded by Maulana Abdul Quddus, a Myanmar Muslim who fled to Pakistan in the 1980s, operating from Korangi in Karachi. The group used to work closely with Ilyas Kashmiri, head of al-Qaeda’s 313 Brigade, the sources said.

The police said the slain militants had recruited two locals from south Kashmir. But the police zeroed in on them and stopped them from joining the militant ranks. “The duo was involved in the abduction of two persons from Peernard village in 2014. They were involved in many unlawful activities directed by commanders based in Pakistan,” a police spokesman said. “They were also coordinating with the Hizbul Mujahideen and the JeM. They tried to create impediments to last year’s elections and planned attacks in minority areas,” he said.

However, sources said, the killing of Pathan was reported in a gunfight with the security forces at Aaripal, a village in Tral, in July 2014. The police had identified him as the Pakistan-born Adil Pathan alias Madni of the JeM. Even then Madni operated in coordination with Hizbul Mujahideen militants in Tral. The mystery over Pathan continues as the same militant cannot be shown as killed twice in police records. Sources said Pathan, in his thirties, was first active in north Kashmir between 2004 and 2005. He returned to PoK and then shifted base to south Kashmir in 2013 so as to create sleeper cells for the JeM, taking instructions from handlers across the border.

The two militants were buried in Tral on Monday, with hundreds of locals and many masked youths taking part in the funeral.

I am sure that a police party from Hyderabad would be at the airport singing the song "Aji root kar ab kahaan jaayiyega, jahan jaayiyega hame paayiyega". With the news of deportation now out in the open, it would not be a case of "arrested when waiting for a bus at Majestic bus stand at 0200hrs". And this also forces the NIA and Police to also have their case points ready as the arrest has to be recorded and within 24 hours the duo produced before a magistrate.

Jail superintendents in Tamil Nadu receive 'al-Qaida' threat letters - Subburaj, ToI

Jail superintendents in Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai and Vellore central prisons in Tamil Nadu have received threat letters sent by an unheard of outfit called Base Moment in the name of 'al-Qaida.'

The jail superintendents received the letters a few days after alleged fundamentalists — Panna Ismail, 'Police' Fakruddin, Munna and three others - had been transferred to Coimbatore, Trichy, Mudurai and Vellore jails from the central prison at Puzhal in Chennai in the wake of an assault on prison warders.

The letters, with same content, were posted from Ukkadam in Coimbatore district a few days ago.

All the letters had a similar message in English: "Continues encroachment of prison department...distressed prisoners...closed eyes of government...inarticulate justice and courts....Tamil Nadu will be resonance ...our mission started...count your days."

They contained a map of India with a picture of slain al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

The Coimbatore city police registered a case and investigation were on. The address written on the envelops was found to be fake, police said.

Recently, the Puzhal prison in Chennai witnessed an attempt by a group of Al Umma terrorists (that included the notorious 'Police Fakruddin' who is involved in several murders of Hindu Munnani leaders and shootouts and bombings) lodged there attempting to take as hostage some of the jail warders and planning to make an escape and also murdering them. They have now been shifted to Coimbatore, Vellore & Trichy, the three prisons which have received the threat letters. Just a few months back, there was a huge riot in Ambur on the Chennai-Bengaluru NH by Muslims during which women police officers were molested and the police station was ransacked and several vehicles plying on the road were attacked & damaged.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its strong opposition to the Malabar joint naval exercises going to be conducted from the day after tomorrow, October 14 to 21.

Begun in 1992 as joint naval exercises between the Indian and US navies and institutionalized with the Indo-US defence framework agreement signed in 2005, the exercises are notable this year, for the participation of the Japanese navy. This reflects the strengthening of the trilateral security ties established between India, USA and Japan. In fact, the United States has been pressing for including Japan and Australia. This is part of the US “pivot” to the Asia-Pacific region, the aim of which is to contain China.

Joint military exercises amongst two or more countries are normally conducted when these countries perceive a common enemy. In this instance, who is the common enemy of India, USA and Japan? In the absence of such a common enemy, it is clear that this BJP government, under Prime Minister Modi, is signaling that the Malabar exercises symbolize India’s complete integration with the US military strategy in Asia.

Japan has made it clear that it considers China’s moves in the South China sea and the region its prime concern for strengthening security ties with India. Such a strategic military tie up with the United States and Japan is harmful for India’s strategic independence and autonomy. India should not become a subservient ally of US military strategy in Asia.

The Polit Bureau calls upon all patriotic and anti-imperialist forces to oppose these exercises.

On the same day this news appeared. Coincidence?

Yechury to hold talks with Chinese Communist Party in Beijing

CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury will hold talks with top leaders of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Beijing tomorrow.

Yechury has been invited to China by the central committee of CCP.

He will also participate in a three-day special conference of Asian political parties to be held in Beijing till October 16.

On Thursday, he went missing after 3.30 pm, and locals started to search for him. His worried family members suspected that he might been kidnapped and informed the police.Towards the evening, he was found hanging from a shed in the premises of his daughter's house near Swaraj Maidan in Moodbidri.

What is going on in Punjab?

We are reading about several cases of the Sikh religious text, the Guru Granth Sahib, being desecrated which then leads to protests which then leads to dead and injured protesters. And repeat.......

Badal is claiming this is a 'conspiracy' to disrupt the peace whilst many Sikh groups are going down the whole 'this is an Indian government/RSS conspiracy route' nonsense. This is very worrying as Punjab has been at peace for such a long time now.

They are angling for anything to bring the sense of hope and optimism down, and some idiots are supporting this... The goal is to create enough tension to stall economic development and growth, and cause general public to press the factory reset button - guess were that will take us.

But they are making a huge mistake, this is not the 1980s or 1990s.

Not so easy to say that this is not the 1990s. The congress is out just for a year and the success of Pseudos from Delhi election after repeated Church attack remarks indicate that this is the last option left for the Pseudo secular parties to gain power. It may take another 10 years or so to ensure that Pseudos are made irrelevant from every part of India by the people themselves. Its a slow and steady process.

Indian intelligence agencies have come across a new design of Pakistan's ISI to destabilize India with the help of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in which Hafiz Saeed is also playing a crucial role. And the target of this new game that is about to be played out is Punjab.

According to latest intelligence inputs a group of 15-20 terrorists trained by LeT in commando warfare and especially coached into Sikh traditions, including Gurmukhi script by Pak-based Khalistani operative Ranjit Singh Neeta, are awaiting at the launching pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) to infiltrate into Punjab.

Hafiz Saeed, sources said, has been roped in as the key motivator for the new design that is looking to open new fronts after failing to spread terrorism in J&K and crumbling of the Indian Mujahideen (IM).

"ISI's aim is to use LeT cadres to revive the Sikh militancy and use it as a catalyst to lure unemployed Sikh youths in Punjab to join terror groups with the help of other radical Sikh groups," said sources.

And root has been traced to Australia which was guiding the violence in Punjab.

Faridkot sacrilege case: Police arrest two brothers

CHANDIGARH: Punjab police have arrested the main culprits in connection with the first sacrilege case in Faridkot. The two arrested are brothers — Jaswinder Singh and Rupinder Singh. Police claimed the two brothers committed the offence in connection with "someone in Australia".

Police are relying on a 40-minute audio clip of a conversation between the two brothers to nail them.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) under ADGP IPS Sahota consitituted after the sacrilege incident in Bargari village gurudwara in Faridkot and later at six other places in the state, concluded that "the accused became soft targets of anti-national forces due to greed and ambition of becoming rich".

"Police took them into custody after intercepting their mobile calls between October 14 to 16," he said.

He also read out the transcripts of the calls between the two brothers before media here.

"The brothers were in touch with someone in Australia," he said, adding, "police was trying to trace the person abroad."

Trouble over sacrilege incidents in the state began last Monday when torn pages of the holy book were found in Faridkot's Bargari village.

Overall, things are progressing nicely. I don't see any real opposition to BJP for the next 5-10 years.

I think one major advantage that has gotten us out of some really dark periods is our endless supply of paramilitary troops.

Even with a total sh*t GoI, intellectuals, media, etc. it is now virtually impossible to break away from the union or create too much trouble.

They'll simply swamp them with troops and wall off the infection until another party has the balls to deal with it.

The only threat that I see is this conversion business and these pan india type jihadi movements/**shia extremism.

It is a very serious charge,” said Bajwa, demanding a “time bound” probe by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court to “identify and bring to book the culprits.” Sikh outfits have demanded the arrest of police officials involved in the firing at Behbal Kalan village in which two persons were killed. Bajwa said the Faridkot DCP told him that he had not given any written order for firing. “An open FIR has been lodged, the police officers who are involved have not been identified,” said Bajwa. “There is complete chaos. The President of India and the Government of India must intervene. Punjab is a border state, a most sensitive state. The Central government should intervene and President’s Rule should be imposed,” he said. He said Badal and his son and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal should resign immediately. “The district where this incident has happened is their home district and they have failed,” he said.

This is what focused (apolitical) law enforcement can do. They took the wind out of the sails of any "Yeevil Modi" bhajan singers. Now the first line of suspicion in any such repeat attack would be not "Yeevil Modi and Yeevil Yindoos", but would be "this could be a false flag".

I think, here baptised means baptised as per Sikh customs, what we call amritdhari in punjabi.

Arun A diaspora by itself cant do much but if its is backed by state power it can be used against the target country.

Khalistan had multiple fathers: TSP, Canada and US.

Sri Lankan had initially Indian and then got adopted by various other state intelligence agencies.

BTW, In mid 1950s to early 1960s the US experts always wrote of centrifugal tendencies in Indian polity that will hive off Punjab and Tamilnadu from India with hope that TN would form a country with adjacent AP, Karnataka, and Kerala.

Unfair's article is a scholarly attempt to conceal US role in both insurgencies!!!!
