Turkey limits defense sales to India to appease Pakistan
Turkey followed a policy of restricting arms sales to India in order to not irk close ally Pakistan, a senior lawmaker from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) recently revealed.

Özlü said the Turkish Foreign Ministry's view, as relayed by the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi, was “If it is not an explosive, guns or deadlier arms such as missiles, then items like radios and vehicles can be sold.”
“I mean [to do so] without alienating or offending Pakistan,” he added.
The policy of restricting the sale of defense products to just non-lethal items for India was never announced publicly by Turkey.
The chairman of the Defense Commission did not disclose the date of the visit to India but said Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu was foreign minister at the time. Davutoğlu served as foreign minister between 2009 and 2014.
He noted that the policy on defense product sales was decided jointly by the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, as well as by the office of the Chief of General Staff.
Turkey has friendly bilateral relations with both Pakistan and India, but leans towards Pakistan due to their long historical and cultural ties.

Europe offers deal to Turkey to take back migrants
Several sticking points were holding up the effort to reach agreement with Turkey. The Turks, for instance, are demanding at least 6 billion euros ($6.7 billion), but a draft of the European offer simply repeats an early pledge to give half that amount. Visa-free travel for Turkish citizens — a key demand of Ankara’s — would be granted by the end of June...
Turkey is currently the Bangladesh of Europe. How long before it becomes the Pakistan of Europe? Or is that reserved for Londonistan?

The EU just struck a deal to send refugees back to Turkey
http://mashable.com/2016/03/18/eu-turke ... E62JaqwiqZ
The European Union on Friday struck a deal with Turkey under which refugees arriving in Europe will be sent back across the Aegean Sea.The agreement, meant to ease the biggest migration crisis the European continent has faced since World War II, means that all migrants, including Syrian refugees, traveling to Greece from Turkey starting Sunday can expect to be returned.More than a million migrants and refugees streamed across the Aegean Sea to Greece before trekking to Europe's more prosperous Western countries, such as Germany and Sweden.German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose immigration policies have been migrant-friendly, backed the deal. She claimed it will strike a blow to people smugglers' business model and send a "clear message" to dissuade would-be migrants and refugees from coming to Europe.
The details of the deal infuriated human rights organizations and refugee advocates, many of whom expressed their frustrations and outrage on Twitter using the hashtags #EUTurkey and #StopTheDeal. Some said the deal was "shameful" and called it a "fraud" while others claimed it would put more lives at risk. All migrants and refugees arriving in Greece from Turkey by irregular means will be sent back to Turkey from Sunday night. The deal states this is "a temporary and extraordinary measure, which is necessary to end the human suffering and restore public order."For each Syrian migrant returned to Turkey, another Syrian migrant will be resettled in the EU. Priority will be given to those who have not tried to enter the EU by irregular means. The number allowed entry is capped at 72,000.More negotiations between the EU and Turkey may be held after that number is reached. Human rights groups believe it will be quickly.Turkey has promised that all returned people will be treated in line with international law, including guarantees that they will not be returned to the countries they have fled from.In exchange, the EU offered to increase the financial aid given to Turkey for Syrian refugees in the country to $6.7 billion from $3.3 billion. Turkey, however, must prevent refugees from opening new sea or land routes to the EU from its borders. But the agreement isn't just be about refugees. The EU also promised to move faster on talks about Turkey potentially joining the 28-member bloc and waive visa requirement for Turkish citizens traveling to the EU by the end of June, as long as Ankara carries out requires reforms.

From one of the poster children of Enlightened Moderation in the world of Mohammadden majority nations, Turkey, a display of hatred for Israeli victims of a suicide attack in Turkey.

Suicide attack in Turkey that wounded and may possibly have killed Arab Israeli’s causes female member by name of Irem Aktas belonging to the ruling Mohammadden religion based party of Turkey, the AKP, to tweet that “'I wish wounded Israeli tourists were dead”:
A suicide bombing ripped through a famous shopping street in central Istanbul on Saturday, killing four people, and injuring at least 35 others …………………

The Israeli foreign ministry said it was looking into reports that three Israelis were among those killed in the blast.

"We fear for the lives of three Israelis who were hurt in the attack," Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon said, adding that it has yet to make contact with another 12 Israelis thought to be at the scene of the blast.

Joint Arab List MK Ayman Odeh said that four of the wounded were Arab-Israelis citizens. ………………….

A member of President Erdogan's AKP party said on her Twitter account that she wanted the death of the Israelis injured in the explosion.

Irem Aktas, a member of Erdogan's AKP party who acts as the Women's Media & Publicity Chairman tweeted "I wish that the wounded #Israeli tourists were dead."

In another tweet she added "when Israel was attacking your Muslim brothers, why didn't you say anything."

Shortly after she made her Twitter profile private, and then it was removed altogether.

Hear on NPR (American radio) from Peter Kenyon:
- Turkey gets $30B from tourists. This is 4% of GDP.
- Current terrorism crisis is causing a huge drop in tourism.
- About a 1000 hotels are up for sale on the Aegean Sea. Favorite destination for Russians.
- Hagia Sophia and Grand Bazar are deserted.
- Bus drivers and tour operators dread when they will be laid off.
- Carpet sellers are really crying this time. They usually whine that business is not good to avoid taxes.

Turkish lawmakers on Thursday fought and threw punches at each other as they debated a contentious ruling-party proposal to strip themselves of immunity from prosecution - a move that could pave the way for the trial of pro-Kurdish legislators on terrorism-related charges. Five people were hurt in the fighting, a news agency reported.

Turkish Pres Promptly Leaves US Amid Reports of Perceived Snub at Ali Funeral
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan cut short his trip to the United States today after being denied permission to participate in critical aspects of Muhammad Ali's funeral, according to a report published by Turkey's Dogan news agency.
Erdogan traveled to the U.S. to partake in Ali's funeral services. He decided to leave after reportedly being denied the right to drape a piece of ceremonial cloth on Ali's coffin during funeral prayers. Before arriving on U.S. soil, funeral organizers had removed him from the list of potential speakers at Ali's funeral, citing a limitation of time as the cause for his exclusion, according to Dogan.....

Guess the Russians were right all along and that one of the poster children for a “Moderate” Mohammadden majority country and best buddy of the Mohammadden Terrorist fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Turkey, is no such poster child. Classified document of Germany’s Interior Ministry states that members of the German government “consider Turkey's regime a supporter of militant groups in the Middle East”.

And so the “brotherly” love for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is a case of birds of a Sunni Mohammadden Terrorism fomenting feather, flocking together?

German officials say Erdogan supports militants
……………. German officials appear to have publicly acknowledged, if in a classified document, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's weapons support for militants fighting the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, which Turkish journalists have reported in the past. "Especially since the year 2011 as a result of its incrementally Islamized internal and foreign policy, Turkey has become a central platform for action for Islamist groups in the Middle East," the German officials said, according to ARD.

German security officials also said Erdogan had an "ideological affinity" with Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, ARD reported. ………………

That's true, but how do we do that with Turkey? Support for Kurdish Intifadacould be one, but that has the potential to antagonise Iran, Iraq and Syria as well.

So what can we do that will cause immense taqleef to Turkey alone? Bilateral trade stands at ~$7.5 billion, largely in our favour.

Turkey: Six killed in bomb blasts near police stations
Turkish officials say at least six people have been killed and scores wounded when two car bombs exploded in the eastern part of the country.

A large explosion rocked an area near a police station in the eastern Turkish town of Elazig and three police officers were killed, Turkish media reported, hours after a car bomb killed three people elsewhere in the region.
Only hours earlier, three people, including a child, were killed and more than 70 wounded in a car bomb attack in Turkey's eastern city of Van carried out by members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) fighters, Turkish officials said.

The PKK attack targeted a police headquarters in the central Ipekyolu district of Van city, Mehmet Parlak, the deputy governor of Van, was quoted as saying by Turkey's state-run Anadolu news agency on Thursday.

Time for Plan B: Europe Must Not Be Blackmailed by Turkey
After agreeing to help the European Union control the flow of migrants heading north, the Turkish government now feels empowered to use the deal as leverage. Europe must now find an alternative to its agreement with Ankara, lest it subject itself to blackmail.
Complete dependence on someone makes you vulnerable to extortion. Back when the European Union sealed its refugee deal with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier this year, some were concerned he would use the agreement as leverage. Now Turkey's government has done just that. The Turkish foreign minister has warned Ankara will terminate the deal if the European Union doesn't grant visa-free travel for Turkish citizens within months.
To be sure, there are good reasons to grant Turks a visa waiver. But right now, it's especially important that Europe insist Ankara first meet the criteria the EU has determined necessary for that waiver to happen. That includes a reform of Turkey's anti-terror laws, which the government has been using to imprison political opponents without due process. The EU must not let itself be blackmailed by Erdogan, whose autocratic tendencies became visible once again during the last few weeks......

Refugee Wrangling: Merkel's Deal with Turkey in Danger of Collapse
The conflict between Europe and Ankara over visa freedoms for Turkish citizens is escalating and Chancellor Merkel's refugee deal is in danger of collapse. Neither side is willing to back down. By SPIEGEL Staff
On Thursday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was standing on a stage in Ankara raging against the European Union. "Since when are you controlling Turkey?" he demanded. "Who gave you the order?" He then accused Brussels of dividing his country. "Do you think we don't know that?" It sounded as though he was laying the groundwork for a break with Europe.
Erdogan's fit of rage is only the most recent escalation in the conflict over German Chancellor Angela Merkel's refugee deal with Turkey. Thus far, officials in Berlin have been dismissing the Turkish president's tirades as mere theater. "Erdogan is following the Seehofer playbook," says one Chancellery official, a reference to the outspoken governor of Bavaria who has been extremely critical of Merkel's refugee policies.
But things aren't looking good for the deal, which the chancellor has declared as the only proper way to solve the refugee crisis. Indeed, Merkel's greatest foreign policy project is on the verge of collapsing.
But she could be mistaken. After all, no one aside from the German chancellor appears to have much interest in the agreement anymore. Erdogan certainly doesn't: He does not want to make any concessions on his country's expansive anti-terror laws, the reform of which is one of a long list of conditions Turkey must meet before the EU will grant visa freedoms. The Europeans at large, wary of selling out their values to the autocrat in Ankara, are also deeply skeptical. The chancellor still hopes that Erdogan will stick to the refugee deal. A key element of that deal is visa-free travel to the EU for Turkish citizens, and Merkel believes that Erdogan's popularity would take a hit if that didn't come to pass. That's why she believes that Erdogan will come around in the end........

30 killed, 94 injured in bomb attack in Turkey's Gaziantep
August 21, 2016 07:59 IST
At least 30 people were killed and 94 more wounded in an attack possibly carried out by a suicide bomber on a wedding party in the Turkish city of Gaziantep near the Syrian border, officials have said.
The explosion is the latest attack to have rocked the key NATO member in a horrific year that has seen a string of strikes blamed on Kurdish and Islamist militants as well as a bloody July 15 botched coup.
Gaziantep governor Ali Yerlikaya said in a statement that 30 people had been killed and 94 wounded in "an abhorrent terror bomb attack on a wedding".
A previous toll had put the number of dead at 22.....

The victims are predominantly Kurds as the blast targeted a Kurdish wedding.
Since the Islamists of Turkey are allies of ISIS,this Suicide attack on a Kurdish marriage is a Turkish state sanctioned retaliation for recent successes of PKK in targeting Turkish military .

A suicide bombing which killed 51 people in the Turkish city of Gaziantep was carried out by a 12 to 14-year-old, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

Tragically this is not the first time that an act of Mohammadden Terrorism by way of a suicide bombing has been carried out by a child nor will this unfortunately be the last time a child will be used to commit an act of Mohammadden Terrorism by way of a suicide bombing. Article in TRT points out examples of Mohammadden Terrorism by way of a suicide bombing carried out by Children in Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Niger, Afghanistan and Syria. All the previously named countries are Mohammadden majority and Organisation of Islamic Co-operation aka OIC which I do not think is coincidental given OIC devoting time and attention challenging restoration of law and order by our security forces in Jammu & Kashmir rather than spending their time exclusively on this and the many other acts resulting in Mohammadden Terrorism in their member States. Further IIRC there have been examples of Mohammadden Terrorism by way of a suicide bombing carried out by Children in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Iraq:

Turkey not first country to be hit by child suicide attack

No one noticed this?
Turkey says organisation responsible for coup has ‘infiltrated’ India
Fethullah Gulen Terrorist Organisation (FETO), blamed for last month’s failed coup to topple President Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey, has “infiltrated” India, according to Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
Asserting that FETO is “secretive transnational criminal network” with presence around the world, Cavusoglu said, “Unfortunately, FETO has also infiltrated India through associations and schools.”
In an interview to PTI after holding talks with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj, the Turkish foreign minister also said, “I have already taken up this issue with my counterpart.”
The visiting minister said, “In all countries where FETO has a presence, we ask them to take immediate actions to remove them from their territories.”
Asked for a response to the Minister’s comments, external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said the Indian side is “sensitive” to Turkish concerns and Indian security agencies were “looking into” Ankara’s demand for closure of associations connected with FETO which were carrying out illegal activities.
